***hi welcome to our retro 1970's Bedford camper, please don't expect new , sited on our farm, you have your own woodfired hot tub, outside shower, patio and bbq area, on the farm we also have a covered pool, barrel sauna, games room, and pizza oven, we also have shepherds hut accommodation and bungalows (2) in the village which is approx. 25 mins by car from York, Harrogate, Ripon, and the dales, is a good eating pub the General Tarlton 5 mins walk and a duck pond ! Our camper is cosy it has a rear seating area which makes in to a double bed, a gas hob oven and grill, small fridge, a shower cubicle with porta loo in it ( we will empty if need be) it is very much as it was 40 years ago so please don't expect perfect, a small tv /dvd player is included, there is a patio area with awning and bbq and the hot tub, also quirky outside hot/cold shower...…. we also collect vintage cars and tractors which you are welcome to look at

From booking to meeting James on arrival the process was easy, James and his sister were very hands on and helpful when we arrived as I had a mobile hoist delivered prior to my arrival, they were concerned it wouldn’t fit under the bed, however we were prepared with wooden chocks to raise the bed, they both helped in fitting them and even found extra timber required to support the bed. I would definitely book this house again in the future as it would make an excellent base to explore the area from. My brother and his family as well as my niece and her family called in to visit us the day after the wedding and agreed it was a lovely clean fresh house to stay in for short or long breaks and there was nothing more you could need, even ‘slow’ Wi-Fi didn’t bother the teenagers! That’s a massive thumbs up on its own! On the other end of the scale my mother in law who is in the early stages of dementia found it very therapeutical stroking the cows when they came to the fence to be fed their treats, she followed them all the way along the fence!"

Standing on the edge of the old moat, overlooking the fortified bastions to the Castle, the house is in an iconic location. About our House by the Castle

Castle Yard House is situated in an iconic location. Standing right in the heart of Knaresborough it is just a short level walk to the bustling market square where you will find pubs, restaurants and cafes. So close to the Castle, the grounds of which are your front garden and stay open 24/7. The path in front of the house weaves you down through the beautiful Bebra Gardens, past the paddling pool and down to the waterside. The house itself is believed to have been built from the Castle stone and beams that were destroyed during the English Civil War.

The House

The house sleeps six arranged in three bedrooms - a king size double, a standard double, a single plus an additional fold out bed if required.
The front doorway of the house leads you to a large hallway which gives access to two downstairs bedrooms, both of which give views of the Castle, the bathroom and the kitchen/diner. The kitchen has exposed brickwork and a large beam supposedly taken from the Castle Great Hall. The kitchen is fully fitted for your needs and includes a Smeg range cooker, dishwasher, and washing machine. The back door leads to a secure, walled, courtyard garden with outside dining space. Go up the stairs and you will enter the comfortable open plan living room and formal dining area. In the centre of the room is an exposed brick chimney which has a 'jack-and-gill' woodburner. The TV in the living room has Netflix and all the freeview channels. The room gives fantastic views over the castle and grounds. Also located upstairs in the king size bedroom.

The pretty grade 2 listed railway station, which is a short walk from the house, gives direct access to Harrogate (8 minutes) York (25 minutes) and Leeds.

The front door to the house has a coded lock and guests will be given their code prior to arrival. The back door keys will be in the house for when guests arrive.

There is small courtyard at the rear of the property which has limited parking and is shared with the other residents of the grade 2 listed properties that surround it. The Castle Yard Car Park is a few steps from the front of the property which has spaces for those with a disability adjacent to the house. The York Place long stay car park is a 5 minuute walk away and costs £1.60 for 24 hours. There are on road parking spaces nearby which can be shared with guests on booking.

Leaving the house through the front dooor leads directly to Knaresborough Castle above the river Nidd. The fact we had French doors to the pool was just ideal with the children. We put our names down for when we wanted use of the pool and it was all ours for that length of time. The hot tub took some getting use to as it was a wood burner but we soon got the hang of it and once we did it heated up well and maintained the heat however there was an issue with the electrics and everytime we tried to use the bubbles it shorted the electrics out. The showers in the house we absolutly fabulous so powerful and with 3 bathrooms no one was waiting about for a shower. We will definetly be using the house again in the summer"

our new barn conversion ideal for friend and families , relax and enjoy watching our farm animals in the fields. Around the farm is our collection of vintage and classic vehicles which we will be happy to show you. The barn has its own Hot tub and Pizza Oven. The large open plan living area can seat 12 at a large dinning table while watching your friend prepare your meal ! there is also a full size pool table large leather sofas and a 75" tv. The bedrooms are all a good size, each can be either a super king or twin beds, each has its own tower shower/ toilet/wash basin, and tv, there is a key for the bedrooms if required.
Also on the farm we have a covered heated pool and sauna barrel these can be reserved by guests each day by using a black board in the comunal games room

- "The barn was very clean and spacious. Gillian was really helpful and so many facilities the kids loved it. Great place." - "We booked this very large property for 12 (Twin City) at fairly short notice as our original booking, in Slough, doubled booked, which left us without much choice for a large property over the Jubilee weekend. Fortunately, we found this amazing very large newly converted barn. 6, more or less, identical en-suite bedroom configured to our preference. Each bedroom was furnished with quality Oak Furnitureland furniture. Each en-suite had a quality all over body shower unit, although the power output left a little to be desired, especially if more than one shower was running at a time. The price paid was quite expensive but when you consider all of the facilities provided, private jacuzzi, private sauna, private pizza oven, private snooker table and private BBQ, a bookable heated swimming pool, archery, badminton Court, basketball and a games room we didn't have enough time to do everything that we wanted to. It was all of those little extras, which made a difference, bags of charcoal for the BBQ, wood, fire lighters and a lighters for heating the sauna and spa/jacuzzi, which by the way, heated very quickly. Loads of towels for the house and for outside were provided together with dressing gowns. We were left with plenty of toilet rolls, liquid soap, shampoo and body wash. There were a number of staff available if you needed them, all of whom were very approachable, friendly and efficient. We felt safe letting the younger ones have outside freedom and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sunnydale Farm, Ferrensby. Thank you all very much for letting us use Twin City for our special family get-together and for the wonderful time we spent there, creating memories. Mark, Sue and family."

The owners have given it the love and attention it deserves and made it a fantastic holiday retreat. Snowdrop Cottage takes its name from the gorgeous snowdrops which grow in the adjacent orchard.

The Cottage has been fully renovated throughout but still retains its sense of history with exposed beams throughout. No expense has been spared and visitors are ensured of perfection throughout. Entry is into the open plan living area, instantly giving you that cottage feel with stone flooring throughout the ground floor. This boasts a fully equipped kitchen for all your culinary needs along with a cosy sitting area which offers a TV with Freeview and a dining table and chairs. - "We really enjoyed our short break at Snowdrop cottage. A wonderfully peaceful location, but only a short walk to the local village, good road networks for visiting lots of lovely places in Yorkshire. Fountains Abbey was amazing! We also enjoyed the Staveley Nature Reserve. The owners were welcoming and had supplied milk, wine, and biscuits on our arrival. They allowed access to their beautiful garden, and had left us a vase of fresh meadow flowers in the cottage, a nice thought and appreciated by us. The cottage has lovely stone floors, excellent kitchen equipment, a good shower, a comfy sofa and a parking space right outside the door. Lots of information leaflets. The local Pub, The Royal Oak served fabulous food with lots of vegetables. The only down for us was the 4'6 bed, we prefer bigger beds, but it wouldn't stop us returning to visit to this delightful cottage again, it is indeed a hidden gem."

High Trees View has many features to the property guaranteeing a memorable stay for guests, whether it be the fantastic balcony which you access through the bi-folding doors from the stylish kitchen offering breath-taking views over the trees which surround the property, or the pretty little bridge which leads you to the elevated lawned area to the rear of the property, both ideal to sit out and have a drink al fresco style in the summer months before venturing out to the many pubs and restaurants within walking distance from the house. The top floor is the main living space with comfortable deep sofas, a great area to kick back and relax after a day’s adventuring and a well-presented, well-equipped kitchen/dining area, ideal for socialising with friends and family or cooking a meal for all the family to enjoy. Over the first two floors are four large bedrooms, three of which have en-suites kitted out with contemporary designer sanitary ware and plush fresh linen guaranteeing a perfect night’s sleep. There is also a separate bathroom on the ground floor and is easily accessed from the ground floor bedroom. All bedrooms are beautifully decorated and furnished and offer plenty of storage space.

The location of High Trees View is perfect; Knaresborough has its own fantastic market on a Wednesday offering local produce and is also famous for Mother Shipton’s Cave and Petrifying Well and boasts an interesting castle, painted by JMW Turner, perched high on the cliff top. Stroll along the riverside promenade, relax with an ice cream or hire a boat and spend an afternoon ’messing about on the river’. If you did want to go further afield there is the stylish spa town of Harrogate just a short 20-minute drive, Harrogate is bursting with fantastic restaurants, pubs, and not to forget the world-famous Betty’s Tearoom which is a must for afternoon tea. Knaresborough is on the doorstep of the Yorkshire Dales meaning there are plenty of opportunities to explore the stunning countryside, whether it being on foot or by bike, you will always have plenty to see and investigate.
