18th century building in the centre of Knaresborough, private access, check-in after 1500hrs, check-out before 1100hrs. Fully equipped kitchen, walk in shower, UK king sized bed, wifi, 40inch smart TV. Access is at street level.
2-minute walk to the bus and railway station, situated off the market square by the castle. No private parking, 20m past property on left to park to unload as street is narrow. Car parks are very close to the property. Not suitable to host infants, children or pets.

The space
The apartment is gas centrally heated with an additional electric fire in the lounge and a portable ceramic heater in the grey stairs cupboard. Tea, coffee, 1 pint of milk and a condiment cupboard is provided. Quality shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, soap and body lotion and towels also provided. There is a fully equipped kitchen with an oven, hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, washing machine and dishwasher with dishwasher tablets and washing powder and Tassimo coffee machine and coffee pods. Central heating is controlled by the guest via a Nest thermostat. The bed is a UK king size measuring 150cmsx200cms, electric blanket ( during colder months ), wool duvet and wool and hollow fibre pillows (no feathers). Iron, hairdryer, dehumidifier, clothes airer and extra blankets also provided. 5 wide shallow carpeted steps lead from the lounge to the kitchen, no handrail.
The property is double glazed throughout and has a single entrance with an Ultion external door lock, bolts and a separate internal locking door. Keys provided for both doors ( spare front door key so both guests have separate keys if needed) all contained in the lockbox in the entrance hall.

The apartment is a 2 minute walk to the railway station and bus station.

Free disc parking is available around the town centre between 1800hrs - 0800hrs. Length of stay varies with location as displayed on street signs. Most disc parking zones allow free parking on Sundays. Discs are available at the property or in the town's shops.

Short stay car parks: Castle Yard is 50ms from the property; Fisher Street and Chapel Street are 100ms away. Costs are the same for all short stay car parks:
1 hour-£0.60, 2 hours-£1.00, 4 hours-£1.60. Free parking/overnight parking between 1800hrs - 0800hrs in the car parks. Useful to note that if a ticket is purchased in a short stay car park after 1800hrs the time is credited from 0800hrs the following morning. For example a 2 hour ticket bought after 1800hrs means you can park until 1000hrs the following day.

Long stay car park is an 8-minute walk away at York Place, costs are: 1 hour-£0.40, 2 hours-£0.80, 4 hours-£1.20, over 4 hours-£1.60. £1:60 will provide 24 hours parking when purchased between 0800hrs and 1800hrs. If you purchase a £1.60 ticket at York Place after 1800hrs you can park until 0800hrs on the morning of the second day, for example if you bought a £1.60 ticket after 1800hrs on Monday, the ticket will not expire until 0800hrs on Wednesday.

Please note all tickets state expiry time and date on the ticket purchased.

Other things to note
House is located on a small side street off the market place. Access is directly from the road via the front door into a small hallway. On arrival the front door will already be unlocked. Access to the property is via a second locked door. The keys to both the front and internal door will be found in a key safe on the wall in the hallway. Visitors can lock both doors for the duration of their stay.
We have no outside space or parking at the property.

Plenty of space in the living room for 2 more people to sleep on the sofa and blow up bed. Lots of spare bedding & towels provided. Dinner table seats 4 & looks out on the sunny garden with a stream running by - but the lower garden is safely enclosed for children. At night you can eat outside under the fairylights, warming yourself by the crackling firepit or chimenea (lots of wood, candles & spare blankets provided). You will be truly tucked away in your own little forest world - the deeds of the property show the land belonged to the ancient Royal Forest of Knaresborough (Henry 11 in 1167) ! The nearby pubs are wonderful - offering a wide range of eating options, local ales and Harrogate gins often with live music and quiz nights. We are so easy to find - only 10 minutes drive from the A1 with easy parking at the front of the property. We are the gateway to the stunning Yorkshire Dales, but only half an hour either way to York or Leeds or an hour to the coast at Whitby & Scarborough. There is something to do for everyone be it adventure-seeking sporty Tour de Yorkshire types (space to store bikes in the garden) or more laid-back strollers with a penchant for National Trust buildings or historical sites. There are a number of steps at the front of the flat but gentler access can be arranged at the rear if mobility is an issue. Please just ask me :)

There is a large green wooden gate opening onto a flight of steps down to the private patio, hot tub and garden to the side of the main house. You have your own front door and no one will disturb you :)
Pretty safe and secure for children and dogs but there are further steps down to the lawn which will require adult supervision.

Other things to note
Knaresborough is noted for its unusual 'chequered livery' inspired by a Lord of Knaresborough Manor in the early 1800s who was well travelled in Germany and loved their architecture as well as being a huge chess fanatic. I'm happy to say that The Old Post Office was one of several properties to be given the black -and -white treatment, including the gatehouse of the town's most famous tourist attraction Mother Shipton's Cave! I'm also researching the architect/builder Edward Kitchin whose initials I believe are permanently recorded in the plaque on the wall of the house. I'm guessing that he is having a private joke calling himself 'EK' as opposed to 'ER' as he also built the next terrace further up the hill known as 'Coronation Terrace'!

Upon entering the apartment, you will first discover the fully equipped Kitchen, which houses an array of integrated appliances such as dishwasher, fridge/freezer and oven along with all the other items you would expect in a home from home such as microwave, toaster, kettle, and Tassimo coffee machine.

Next to the kitchen you will find the first bedroom which has two comfortable single beds (which can combined to make a super-king bed with at a weeks notice of your stay)

To the right of the Kitchen, you will find bedroom 2, a large spacious area overlooking the bustling Knaresborough high street. This room has a super-king bed, hanging rail and drawers. This bed can also be split to make two single beds (with advanced notice as above). We have also positioned a bistro table and chairs by the window so guests can sit and watch the world go by while enjoying their morning coffee.

Next to this room is the living / dining area which contains two stylish sofas, dining table (both of which seat 6) and a 55" smart TV with Netflix preloaded to allow you to binge watch all of your favourite box sets after a long day of sight seeing.

Clareton Farm Cottage is a self-catered, quiet holiday cottage located in the grounds of our home, with a high level of luxury, nestled in a tranquil & rural location. On the outskirts of the village of Coneythorpe, it is in a very accessible location, 8 miles from Harrogate and 15 miles from York.
