This part of the building has just three two bedroom apartments, each one finished to an extremely high standard. The building is situated just off Bootham on a quiet street, facing the historic ruins of St Mary's Abbey. First built in 1088 it is all that remains of one of the wealthiest and most powerful Benedictine monasteries in England.
Gallery Apartment is the ground floor apartment of this development and has been very thoughtfully appointed. The living area has a fully fitted kitchen with everything that you need, including plenty of storage space for all the tasty treats that you buy when you are out and about exploring. There is a dining table that comfortably seats 4 people. There is then a spacious, comfortable seating area with a sofa and Retro Eames Brown Leather Lounge Chair and Footstool, where you can sit back, relax and enjoy your time in the living area. Whether its sat in front of the smart TV enjoying a film or a catch up on the days events, you will all have plenty of space to relax.
There are two bedrooms in the apartment, the master bedroom has a super kingsize bed that can be made up as a super king or two single beds, just great for sinking into and recharging for the next day. There are fitted wardrobes that run the length of the bedroom, more than enough space to fit all the outfits that you want to bring with you for the numerous events that York has to offer. There is a luxurious en suite, complete with a bath with shower over, double sinks and underfloor heating.

I really needed to get some things inside and I was very distressed by the time my husband came back and finally got inside. The configuration of the bathroom is downright dangerous. A tiny tip, if you want the frig to work efficiently, it is a good idea to defrost it. The freezer was so frosted over we could not really use it. Despite some nice touches it was very disappointing."

- "Widger Mews is a fantastic and excellent value holiday rental which is a must for horse lovers especially. My husbands first words as the first to enter the property were "all I can say is WOW". The location is fabulous for those wishing to use it as a quiet base to make day trips out to the NE coast and York. The apartment is warm and homely and very practical for a family of four, with the bedrooms at the oposite end of a long corridor from the living area. Perfect for relaxing in front of the box with a glass of wine after the kids have gone to bed. There are a few little areas that would benefit from improving, which I have fed back, but nothing that would stop you loving this accomodation as we did. If any of you are horse fans, you will love being in the heart of an area with race horse stables all around you and in fact right next door. Our girls loved watching the horses being ridden past the apartment every day to be taken out for their dailly exercise and training. Honestly, don't hesitate in booking this holiday rental. You won't regret it!"

During your stay
Malton Central dates back to the 1800's. From 1867 until late 1960's the building was occupied by John Soulby a local wine merchant and then leased by Chas Rose & Co Ltd a local brewer who were based on Castlegate.
George and William Bower a butchers and food provider took over the building in 1969 when the local brewery closed down and operated there until 1990 when Campbell and Mycroft a respected local accountancy and financial services company took on the ownership.
The building laid empty and in disrepair for several years until 2018. For the past few years our trusted team of contractors and local craftsman have painstaking restored and converted the building into a collection of contemporary designed rooms, studio spaces and fully equipped apartments. Our aim is to offer you and all our guests a safe and enjoyable place to stay.
