The cabin was built in June 2019. It is located on crooked creek in crane hill. The cabin feature a bedroom with queen size bed and loft upstair with twin size bed & futon sofa, fully equipped kitchen, washing machine and dryer, there are three TVs (one in the bedroom, living room, and upstair). The living room couch also makes queen size bed. The cabin is cozy rustic design. Sleep up to 7 people. Also, boat ramp and dock on site. There are two adults size kayak, a kid size kayak and a canoe for guest to enjoy. 15 minutes from ext. 305 in Cullman. There are post office, gas station and dollar general store within a mile. Walmart and Publix grocery store is 25 minutes away in Cullman.

Please let me know if you are bringing a boat. You can launch and keep the boat at the cabin dock.

We are on seasonal water. The prime time is between March to August. The water level will start lower after summer.

- "Such a cute, quaint little house on a great part of the lake." - "The house was great for me and my wife. We stayed three nights and had a blast. Great location and nice swimming dock with plenty of floats and the lily pad was the best. I would stay here again in the future. The only “complaint” I would have is that the pillows on the bed are thick and firm so I would bring your own pillow. Overall everything was perfect. We accidentally broke a succulent on one of the shelves inside and I messaged the owner and she was very understanding and didn’t make us pay anything extra for it. We did go to the store and bought a new one to replace it though lol."

Our Crooked Creek Guest Retreat was complete January 2021 and is ready for your arrival. The guest house has a private entrance & is In the lower walk out level of the main house. Your windows all face the lake, forest & patio. It is not possible to enter the main house or guest house internally between either home. The guest retreat has a private patio with seating for six, a dedicated gas grill, fire pit with 6 chairs & free parking for 2 vehicle’s including space for a toy trailer. You’re welcome to bring a wagon or golf cart to help transport your lake gear or kiddos up & down to the dock. The back yard, shoreline, 2 hammocks, path swing, fire pit and dock are all included in your rental. The shoreline is wide open & flat.its a great place to play corn hole, horse shoes or ball with your family. Your privacy is very important & will be respected. The property is very peaceful due to the fact it has two empty wooded lots on either side of the house providing a 400ft buffer between the closest neighbors in any direction. Throughout the year the homeowners may be in residence & have two standard poodles Lily & Beaux. If you have any needs they can be reached by a call or text. Please note the property is in a very rural area. Expect to see and hear many different kind of wildlife including birds, deer, cows, chickens, goats & critters. Once your off the interstate you will drive on twisting, winding, hilly country roads. The WiFi & cell service is iffy in the Smith Lake area. ATT provides the best cell service in the area. If you don’t have ATT cell service it recommended to print off your driving directions for when you get off Interstate 65 on your way to Crooked Creek Retreat. If you’re going to be boating I highly recommend purchasing a lake map at Whitlock Gas Station on your way in. Your cell phones gps will cut in & out while your out on the lake. The lake has over 642 miles of shore line & it’s easy to get lost.

It’s imperative to know that Alabama Power regulates the entire lakes water level at any given time. Lewis Smith Lakes water level changes seasonally & can be tracked on any smith lake app. When booking ANY rental on Lewis Smith Lake it’s important to note Lewis Smith Lake has THREE different kinds of water front property descriptions. Deep water, year round water & seasonal water. Each offers different experiences with different perks. Traditionally Crooked Creek Retreat dock is floating March through August. You can swim, float, boat, fish, jet ski from the dock during this time. The water around the shoreline and dock are very calm & safe for swimming, floating, paddle boarding & kayaking. Guest are welcome to tie up their boat & jet skis on the east side of the dock. Owners keep their ski boat on the boat lift & pontoon on the west side of the dock. Beach chairs are perfect to sit at the shoreline to watch little ones play in the shallow water. Arrow Head bar & grill is a short kayak ride away & periodically open. Order in or carry out breakfast lunch or dinner on the weekends. FYI: Seafood boils is great on the weekends! Drifters on the lake & Trident are two good restaurants on the lake you can get to by boat or car. During the fall & winter Crooked Creeks Retreat dock is not floating. Weather permitting during this time you can walk out to the channel & drop in the kayaks, enjoy fishing & go for long walks along the shoreline. Depending on the amount of rain between December-March Alabama Power will allow the water table to rise above normal water level. During this time if the water is above regular pool you might have to kayak to the dock. The closest public boat launch is a 5 minute boat ride away at Arrow Head Park Park. Smith Lake Park public boat launch is about twenty minute car ride away & over a hour boat ride.

Cabin perched on the hillside overlooking the main channel.. Rock Creek. 100 ft+ deep water year round. Access to the water via a gravel road that circles around the hillside to the clearing below with available space for parking with easy access to the water for fishing and swimming. Also there are steps from the cabin down to the boat dock and swim deck, but like most places around here there are quit a few steps. There's around 100 steps
Other things to note
If you're bringing a boat and trailer there is plenty of space on the property to park (cleared pad on top of the hill). Swayback Bridge Public Boat Ramp is less than 3 miles from the cabin by car. You can see it from the cabin on the other side of the river. You are welcome to park your boat at my boat dock if you like.

Welcome to "No Deadlines"!
This was a weekend house originally started in 1969 and completed in 1970 by a family of four consisting of a husband & wife with their two small boys. They did all the work themselves on the weekends from start to finish with the help of the husband’s father.
Nestled in a quiet cove off the main channel of Rock Creek, No Deadlines was extensively remodeled starting in 2024 and completed in 2025 by the oldest of the two sons and his wife. Originally the house consisted of two bedrooms and one bath with a low height basement or storage. The remodel included having the upper portion of the house raised to create more ceiling room in the basement so it could be finished for living quarters. The upstairs dining room, the downstairs bath and the lake storage room all were added on at this time as well. Remaining in the family but creating an environment for others to enjoy just as they did so many years ago.
With all the business in the world, it’s nice to be able to relax at a quiet shaded place on the lake and get back to the simple things in life such as family and friends and forget about any deadlines that may be waiting back at the office.
We truly hope you enjoy the lake fun, family, friends and relaxation as much as we do and create as many memories as possible.

Main Level -

Main suite with queen bed and smart TV. Ensuite full size bathroom with large shower and galvanized metal tub. Enjoy exquisite morning sunrise views, or lower the blackout blinds for a superbly snoozy morning.

2nd shared full size bath with shower.

Kitchen is fully equipped with new appliances, toaster, blender, tea kettle, and Keurig coffee maker. Coffee and tea (black and herbal) and assortment of spices provided.

Indoor dining table seats 4 comfortably. TV trays are also available, and your extended outdoor dining space is steps away.

Laundry is located on the main level. Detergent pods and all staple laundry items included.

Living/sun room is comfy with 50” smart TV, brand new queen sleeper sofa, and the best views you'll get of Smith lake!

Upstairs -

Come enjoy some relaxing yet affordable time on the lake! Your family will be close to everything when you stay at this well-located home. Smith Lake Park, boat and jet ski rental, restaurants and stores all within a couple minute drive and the city of Cullman less than 10 minutes away for anything else you might need! You can even get Door Dash or Walmart grocery delivery all while being on the lake! Bring your boat, we have room to park it. Great area with low boat traffic for kayaking!

The space:
Wonderful property close to everything, so no worries about picking up those few things you forget or heading out to dinner. So convenient! Freshly remodeled with central heat and air. Easy access to the lake without any steps. Use of paddle boat included, kayaks available for rent for the duration of your stay (Bring your own life jacket, state law requires PFD onboard the vessel when kayaking in Alabama.) I would like to mention that we do get road noise as 222 is a busy road. It doesn't bother us but if you are looking for silence you might not enjoy your time here. Water level is at full pool roughly March thru July. When water level drops the dock with be dry on ground, however; lake is still accessible.
