- "The place was clean, staff Friendly & food lovely. But the building looking tired & is in need of maintenance. The main problem was the noise. We were in the captain's suite. Which seems to have the owners family accommodation next to & above the room. I was hoping for a quiet few days away but instead had to listen to there dog whining at a joining door to our room & loads of banging around upstairs. You can also hear the people in the next room clearly. We were also very disappointed to be let down on a pre booked meal for my partner's birthday. - "No TV in room." - "The website says it is closed on Monday and Tuesday, add Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday! Very noisy beside the A39, no double glazing. Breakfast hit and miss. Sometimes got what I asked for, but twice not even asked, just a plate of eggs on toast instead of cereal. Friday, no-one showed up to give me any! No TV in rooms. Weird! Bar area dirty. Same bits of rubbish on the floor all week!" - "Shocking. We've never walked out of a hotel in our lives, until now. When we arrived for check in, there was no booking office as such, or reception. A member of the public helped us locate a representative, who seemed indifferent on our arrival, and there was chaos and confusion regarding our arrival, they seemed to argue and bicker amongst themselves. No proper records were evident, we signed a visitors entry in pencil on arrival, and we were shown to a basic room, which upon further inspection, fell below what we would regard as appropriate. The bed didnt appear to be clean, either the bedsheets, or indeed underneath the bed which was horrible, and upon testing the shower, the cubicle drain was blocked, so we decided to leave shortly after arriving. Despite this room being offered with a Pub below, we were told that the pub was not open and not told why. Given the nature of our welcome, we decided against complaining in person as we didnt feel comfortable doing so. We have submitted a complaint to Hotels.com, and are awaiting their response. "

Located in Minehead, this welcoming cottage lets you experience it all. Thanks to the convenient uncovered onsite parking, you can either leave your vehicle behind and let your feet make short work of the 10-minute walk to Exford Memorial Hall, or easily tackle the 30-minute drive to Exmoor National Park.

As you settle into the place, you'll find a fireplace and blackout drapes/curtains. Enjoy the free WiFi and flat-screen TV. Prepare a home-cooked meal in the kitchen, complete with an oven, a stovetop, and a refrigerator, as well as an electric kettle, a microwave, and cookware. And you won't have to pack extra clothes, because you'll also have a washing machine. Other amenities include bed sheets, an ironing board, heating, and wardrobe or closet.

The building itself is fairly typical of this type of property. If you're looking for luxury look elsewhere, but if you want functional and quaintness then this is an excellent choice. Dave, our host, was very welcoming and offered help when we required it. Parking was really useful and kitchen was well equipped. Shared bathroom is small but, again, functional and is fine for a family (of 4, in our case). Only minor criticisms - none of which really bothered us - are the enormously creaky floorboards, noisy boiler and thin walls to the property next door. But all these are the sort of things you expect from an old building such as this."
