- "The home was tidy and just what we were looking for. We had ok slight issues with a door, home owner addressed promptly and resolved the issue. Overall a good stay. The location of the lake to the property could have been explained better with the listing. As there are lake rights and it is close by, we felt intrusive to others property getting there. " - "When we arrived it appeared the house hadn't been occupied or visited for a while. Deck was covered in pine needles, outdoor furniture cushions weren't on the furniture and were a bit dirty. Flower pot was knocked over and soil was spilled. My husband found 2 screws stuck in between the decking pointing up. He stepped on one and then checked over the rest of the deck and found another. Fire pit area was littered with broken glass and trash. A small stack of wood was left for our use which we appreciated. Unfortunately we couldn't allow our children to go outside without shoes on. The home itself was fairly comfortable. There were a large number of ants throughout the house. We noted ant traps on the floor and understand it's a rural location so that's to be expected, but didn't love having ants in our bed. Our kids said their beds were comfortable and they slept well. My husband and I both did not find the master bed comfortable. Bathroom needs a curtain on the front window as the neighbor across the street can look directly inside. Area rugs throughout are not secured down. My son actually slipped on the runner in the bedroom and hit his head on the nightstand right when we arrived. Linens were all crisp white and clean. Living room furniture was firm and compact but adequate. There is 1 window unit AC that will freeze you out if you are watching TV but we were grateful to have it."

- "I have stayed here several times. It’s a great way to camp without all the fuss. You feel like you’re enjoying nature without having to pack a bunch of essentials. We stayed in a king bedroom with shower and bathroom. Everything you need is there and it’s close to grocery stores. The pond is wonderful. Lately we have been going in either beginning of June or beginning of September however because the costs have definitely increased. It’s really expensive to stay peak season which is my only complaint "

Pine Needle Cabin is available for rent on scenic Bauneg Beg Lake in Sanford, Maine. A little over an hour north of Boston; 40 minutes south of Portland, ME; about 20 minutes to the Marginal Way in Ogunquit; 30 minutes to the lobster docks or beach at Kennebunkport; an hour to an hour and a half to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. There is an 18-hole golf course under 5 minutes from the cabins, with a Par-3 and miniature golf course another 5 minutes down the road. There are wonderful hiking trails, bicycling tours, and terrific kayaking – lake or ocean. Unlimited day trips to other parts of Maine or New Hampshire. Bauneg Beg Lake is very clean and quiet, with swimming, fishing and boating. Cabin is located on the east shore, getting full day sun for great swimming, and beautiful sunsets!
Pine Needle Cabin is a rustic 1-story cabin on a sloped site directly overlooking the lake. The cabin was built around a turn of the century ice-fishing house from a lake in NH - now the living room - with dark wood paneling and fireplace with wood-burning stove. There is an entry foyer, kitchen/dining area, bathroom with shower, and a large screened in porch -- with an eating area, chaise lounge and cushioned chairs, to enjoy the lake at any time of day.
There are 3 bedrooms -- 2 with double beds & 1 twin bed with a trundle. The exterior of the cabin was recently renovated – new metal roof, stone chimney and cedar shakes. There is a dock for swimming, sunning and fishing at lakeside. There are a rowboat and kayaks for your use. There is also a boat ramp on the lake if you wish to bring a motorboat or sailboat. The cabins are open from the beginning of June through early October, and available on a weekly rental basis from Saturday to Saturday. ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
- "We really enjoyed our stay and loved the historic charm of the cabin. The kayaks were a plus." - "This was absolutely amazing. Everyone was wonderful around us. The lake is beautiful with a great breeze. The cabin is enchanting and we truly wanted to stay forever. It’s rustic charm enraptured us from the start and there was no shortage of fun. Our kids least favorite day was the one we ventured away from the cabin to go to York. They much preferred to be at the cabin, fishing, boating, fires, s’mores, games. We can’t wait to go back and Jan is so responsive. Everything was impeccable. If you’re a luxury hotel with room service type of person it may not be for you but for us it was heaven."

You’ve earned this vacation, and you couldn’t have chosen a sweeter spot than this family- and dog-friendly waterfront retreat on Estes Lake. Outside, you’ll find lots of comfortable spaces for enjoying the lovely lake views – start the day with coffee on the waterfront deck or the brick patio down below. Take your time – you’re on vacation. When you get hungry, head inside to make some breakfast. Windows throughout offer the same gorgeous view, and the open, bright space creates a feeling of togetherness. The full, well-equipped kitchen has everything you need to whip up a meal, and you can dine together at the window-front table for six.
Now it’s time to explore, and no matter what time of year you visit, you’ll be spoiled for choice. Warm weather offers fishing, boating, hiking, local farm stands, and exploration of the nearby Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge. Autumn leaf peeping in this heavily forested area can’t be beat, and in the winter, bring your cold-weather gear, because ice fishing, snowmobiling, and ice skating abound. Kennebunkport is less than 15 miles away and you'll find downtown Sanford only five minutes west, with great restaurants and shops to check out. Plan a trip to spend an afternoon at Wells Beach, just 14 miles away.
When you return, let the kids splash around on the small, sandy beach area while you fire up the gas grill. Have dinner alfresco at the picnic table, then stream your favorite shows while the electric fireplace keeps things cozy. End the night back outside around the fire pit, roasting marshmallows and telling stories about the perfect day you just had – and planning for another one tomorrow.

- "The property was fine. The neighborhood was quiet, we got there early because they said we could check in for free but when we got there the keys were still locked up so we had wasted half an hour trying to get to the house before our family event but that was time wasted as it did not get resolved until we got back and could then get the keys at 7 o’clock" - "Excellent !!! Loved the home and was perfect ! We were up for a family wedding and we all fit perfectly !"

Enjoy a stay in our 1790’s farmhouse with many original features, situated on 120 mostly-wooded acres in southern Maine. Our homestead features a small commercial maple syrup operation including a large sugarhouse, 200 highbush blueberry plants, a large vegetable garden, berry patches, a variety of fruit trees, honeybee hives, miles of old logging roads for walks, skiing/snowshoeing, a meandering brook, patio and outdoor fireplace, free-range chickens and two large farm dogs.
The farmhouse retains many original features including wide plank floors, exposed beams, fireplace (nonoperational) with bake oven in your private living space, and much original woodwork.
Your private living space (first floor) has a pellet stove, bookshelves stocked with reading material and games, a seating area, etc. 2nd floor has two bedrooms and a brand-new kitchen (as of June 2021) with 4 burner electric stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator, toaster, coffee grinder, coffee maker, dishes, posts, pans and utensils. There is also an outdoor propane grill for guests to use and grill tools are provided.
**Please note that a small grassy backyard must be navigated in order to access the guest entrance, and you must climb a non-carpeted staircase (14 steps) to reach the bedrooms and bathroom located on the second floor. If you have limited mobility or are unsteady on your feet, this property is likely not a good fit.
The bedroom is very large and has a queen bed, large closet, dresser, luggage rack, ceiling fan, exposed beams, exposed chimney, and skylight. The private bathroom has wainscoting, a pedestal sink, toilet and shower.
Private entrance with keys. Our living space is completely separate so you have plenty of your own space to relax as you wish.
*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS GUEST SPACE IS NOT SAFE FOR TODDLERS due to the wooden staircase and bannister construction that is open along the side on the second floor and does not allow for effective placement of baby gates.
- We are happy to host extended stays...please contact us if interested!
- No Pets - we love animals and have two rescue dogs of are own, but unfortunately we can't be flexible on this as we wish to keep the space pet-free in consideration of guests with pet allergies
- "This was our second visit to Maple Moon Farm. To stay at this beautiful property and step back in time in our farmhouse parlor is fantastic— and learning about making maple syrup with Frank and Jenny was such a treat. We will absolutely come back again!" - "What an amazing place. Beautiful fields, cozy rooms, chickens greeting you as you walk out. They had the pellet stove going when we got there so it was so welcoming. Then came over and topped it up the following night, as we have no experience with pellet stoves. It's quiet, and homey. Absolutely recommend visiting. I wish that we could have stayed a week, it was just that lovely."

- "We just had a wonderful weekend celebrating my parents' 70th anniversary and 90th birthdays and we couldn't have asked for a more suitable vacation house for the whole family - all 22 of us! The large living room with cathedral ceilings upstairs and the second large family room downstairs were both great for our group activities, all the rooms were comfortable, four well located bathrooms, and the large kitchen and dining room area fit us all. Even though it was only in the mid 60s, we were able to use the heated pool and hot tub, fire pit and even the corn hole game! Great location, too!"

- "Beautiful home right on the lake. Home had everything we needed and was very peaceful. Rooms were all good size and comfortable. One thing to take note, there is no bathroom on what I would consider the main level. Main floor being kitchen, dining, and living room which is we spend all our time. Bathrooms were either up or down a flight of stairs. Anyone having trouble doing stairs should consider this. Communication with the host was top notch and helped make the weekend go smoothly. If you don't mind a few stairs you will love this house."

- "My niece and I were super excited before we even got there, and upon arrival were saying things like “Is this even real?!” As to say, I can believe we are staying here!! Loved the simple, yet elegant decor. We enjoyed the quiet sunset on the pond, while the fireflies danced on our arms. We ended the day relaxing to our favorite songs in the hot tub, and had a couple s’mores in the fire pit. The next morning, I brewed my coffee, and headed to the dock where I startled a couple of deer in the woods on the way! The water was so still, and boy did my coffee taste even better! Truly a little slice of heaven on Littlefield Pond, and we felt so lucky to have been able to enjoy it for the night! Have already shared the link with 4 friends:)"

Other things to note
Please note - we will only be accepting guests with previous and favorable reviews from pasts host.
Additionally - all bedrooms, living room and full bathroom are located on the second floor which is only accessible by spiral staircase. This may not be suited for individuals with mobility concerns.
HOUSE RULES:
1. SEPTIC SYSTEM: - Please DO NOT flush feminine hygiene products, wet wipes, paper towels or any other non-flushable items. These things will cause significant damage to our septic system. Please dispose of the items listed above in the trash cans next to the toilets.
2. WATER - Please DO NOT touch the water treatment tanks in the garage (or any system in the garage for that matter). Our water is safe to drink.
3. DOORS, WINDOWS, AC/HEAT: - We have three split units for AC & Heat. When using AC/Heat all doors/windows should remain closed. If you wish to open the doors and windows, please turn off AC/Heat and ensure a screen is covering the open window/door. - Additionally, when leaving the house in the summer time - we ask that you turn off the AC units or set them to dehumidifying mode (the double water drop image). Our house cools down very quickly - so don’t worry about keeping it running all day while you are gone! In the winter, please leave the Heat set to 65 degrees if you are leaving the home - again, our house heats quickly. - Please do not touch the wall mounted thermostats downstairs or upstairs (these are only used for extreme cold weather when the house is unoccupied) - all AC & Heat during your stay should come from the split units.
4. LAUNDRY: - There is an in-unit washer/dryer you are welcome to use. Please do not forget to clean the lint catcher - leftover lint can cause a fire. - Please shake all sand from towels / clothes prior to using the washer.
5. DISHWASHER: - Please ensure you have thoroughly rinsed dishes before placing them in the dishwasher. We provide dishwashing pods & Jet Dry. - Jet Dry is crucial to use for our type of dishwasher - please fill the washer with Jet Dry, just shy of the max line. Don’t forget to include the detergent pod as well. - When running the dishwasher, please do so on the 30min express wash (it works just as well as all the settings and is a fraction of the time/water & energy consumption!)
6. BUNK BEDS: - The top bunk bed has a maximum weight of 150 pounds. Bottom bunk bed maximum weight is 175 pounds. We do not recommend young children sleeping on the top bunk.
7. QUIET HOURS: - Please be respectful of our neighbors. Even though we have several acres between us and the neighbors, music and voices do carry! Quiet hours outside are 11pm - 7am.
8. GARBAGE: - We have two trash cans labeled in the kitchen. One for regular waste, one for plastic, glass and aluminum recycling. We also have a third trashcan in the garage for cardboard & plastic bags. - Please recycle accordingly - our town is very strict when disposing of waste. - When you need to remove a full trash bag, please place them in the appropriately labeled trash bins found in the shed next to the garage/oil tank.
9. GRILLING: -Guests can use the grill, but must do so responsibly. Under no circumstances should the grill ever be left unattended while in use. When grilling, you must ensure the grill is not directly under the deck. When finished, please turn off the propane, let the grill cool before putting the cover back on, and velcro the sides so it is protected from all weather.
10. DECK. - Guests are welcome to use the deck. The chaise lounge chair pad can be found in the garage. Please place it back in the garage upon your checkout.
11. FIRE PIT: - Chairs for the fire pit can be located in the garage. Please place them back in the garage at the end of your stay. - When using the fire pit, never leave it unattended. - When finished with the fire pit, please use water to put it out and watch for the spreading of ashes.
12. SUPPLIES: - We provide some basic necessities to get you started with your stay. (Paper towels, toilet paper, dishwasher pods, trash bags, dish soap) After those are exhausted, it is the responsibility of the guest to buy any additional items needed for your stay.
13. NO HUNTING - You will see some amazing wildlife while staying at our house (deer, turkey, rabbits, foxes, porcupines, etc.) However, hunting of any animals is NOT permitted on our property. We love the wildlife and want all of our guests to be able to enjoy watching them!
14. 4-WHEELERS, ATVs, DIRT BIKES etc. - No one is permitted to bring or use any 4-Wheelers, ATVs, dirt bikes or vehicles of the like on our property.
15. SMOKING: - Smoking of any kind (cigarettes, cigars, vapes, recreational, etc) is prohibited inside the home . If smoking outdoors, please keep it near the fire pit and away from our barn & fields. Do not leave your trash/leftovers outside - dispose respectfully.
16. PETS: - No pets or animals allowed.
17. PARTIES: - No parties or large gatherings.
- "We were fortunate to spend a week at this beautiful home! My initial communications with Megan were wonderful which continued through our stay. I was looking for a cozy “home away from home” for a family trip which inlucded our two young sons and my mom and Dragonfly Fields was the perfect spot for us! Upon driving up and walking into the home, it is even more beautiful than in photos. You can immediately see the love and care as well as attention to detail that was put into this home. It was well appointed and everything was there that we needed from coffee and spices to a wagon and beach chairs. We explored quite a bit and loved the lobster boat cruise in downtown Ogunquit as well as taking the trolley to get around town. Our sons, 7 and 5, loved the nearby arcade and go-karts. Great for a cloudy day too! Our favorite breakfast spot was Greenery Cafe and thr homemade jam is a must try! We also stopped at the outlets in Kittery and had a wonderful dinner at “When Pigs Fly”, also kid-friendly. We had a storm during our trip which might normally put a damper on our stay but we already stocked the fridge with groceries and had the most wonderful night in enjoying the house. We found a game for the boys upstairs and played “The Floor is Lava” more times than I can count but it quickly became one of our favorite nights in Maine. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful “home away from home” with us! We are already looking forward to our next trip!"

We were looking for a place with a hot tub to relax and enjoy ourselves. This was the perfect place. So unique and fun. It looked as though much of the home was taken from the surrounding property. The hot tub was great. We enjoyed the bluetooth speakers built in into the hot tub. The water was a bit cloudy. The downstairs bedroom had an awesome skylight where we could see the stars at night! The house did sway a little bit, but it didn’t bother us at all. It added to the adventure. We could not figure out how to turn off the outside lights at night, so bring a eye mask. There was a projector and screen provided, but we could not figure it out. The proper cables were provided. However the source would not connect to the iPhone. We did not see a guide book or instruction manual. Though getting into the property and accessing the WiFi was well explained. Coffee and coffee maker were nicely available. There were only four towels, so bring hot tub towels. The shower was great. The kitchen supplies were very basic. I would not plan to cook a large meal there. Overall we fully enjoyed our stay and would recommend this location to others! We will be back, thank you so much for sharing your creative vision and home with us!!"
