- "This property is every bit as beautiful as the photos. I was surprised it was so accurately represented, in both the description and the photos. The neighborhood was VERY quiet during our late August stay, and we didn’t see anyone on the lake the entire time we were there.it was like having a private lake. There is a boat ramp right up next to the property, but only one guy used it (as we were arriving the first day), and he was very friendly. He lived in the neighborhood and told us all about the lake. There were water toys/kayaks, but sadly we didn’t have time to use them. We sat out one night and enjoyed the scenic fog that covered the lake after it had rained during the day. The area of Buxton itself doesn’t have much going on, but it was a close enough drive to Portland to go in for the day and relax at night in the cabin without the crowds of the city. I would have been plenty happy spending our entire time at this cabin, if we hadn’t already planned activities in Portland. The owner was easy to reach and communicated at every step, and it is clear from the immaculate condition of the property that they care about and look after the property. We will DEFINITELY rent here again the next time we return to Maine!"

Sweet little cabin Bonny Eagle Lake! (aka Bonney Eagle aka Bonny Eagle Pond - Come relax in this private, cozy cabin in beautiful Southern Maine. The cabin boasts private access to a 211 acre quiet lake with with a dock, along with kayaks, paddle boards, floats, seating and tables and more! Brand new this season is a fishing dock, extended dock, and a swim raft! The large yard offers two fire pits, yard games, outdoor dining and cooking. The cabin offers an enclosed porch, indoor dining, a full kitchen, a workspace with free Wi-Fi, and comfortable beds and is nestled in on a small private road.

There are 4 cozy rooms. Two bedrooms with queen beds, one of which has a shared pocket door with the office that can be closed for privacy, and it has it's own door to a hallway. There is a private bunk room with a twin over full bed. The office room has up to two twin beds along with a desk and a tv. This room is very sunny with great views! The living room has a couch and chairs along with a tv and floor cushions. The dining area is just off the kitchen and open to the living room. There is a small table off the kitchen for cards, puzzles, and games or a little breakfast nook! There is one bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet and a half bath with a sink and toilet. There is a beautiful screened in porch with a table and chairs and a small bar area. This overlooks the whole yard and the water. New to the property is a mini split heat pump that keeps the cabin cool and dry on hot and humid days! There is a traditional fire pit on the property as well as a gas fire table. There is an electric grill and a coal grill available to use. We will provide some yard games for you as well. You may have access to the shed for extra storage as needed. New in 2025 is a dishwasher and a washer/dryer unit for you to use! The property also now has a private patio in the back, with some yard space out behind or in front for yard games.

For the waterfront, we provide life jackets, floats, kayaks, a standup paddle board, and plenty of seating. There is a private dock and patio dedicated for the unit, though you will see neighbors! The water is shallow for quite a distance, with a nice sandy bottom. You can swim out to and jump off of the new swimming raft too! There is fishing equipment available to use, but feel free to bring your own! This is a well-known fishing spot well stocked with a variety of fish.

There is plenty of parking available, but we recommend no more than 3 cars in the dedicated parking spaces for the unit. You cannot park on the street. There is a blue lake house also on the property that will have renters. Each unit will have a dock, and patio, the equipment is available for each unit to use. These units can be rented together as well! The wood fire pit and the pathway to the water will be shared, each unit will have a private patio area, grill, and propane fire table.

The swimming at Deer Pond is excellent, with warm clean water and very little boat traffic on the pond. We had everything we needed in the kitchen to cook our meals, and plenty of space to relax inside on the days it rained. The neighborhood was quiet and calm, and we were able to have our dog off leash without worry and take walks down the little road. The deck and docks face east, and we did our best to take in the sunrise daily. We hardly saw any bugs. We did take advantage of a few local attractions, such as Big Daddy's North for ice cream and Xota Brewing, but mostly we didn't want to leave this cozy lakeside cottage for any reason at all. Our hosts were communicative and kind, and it would be my honor to return year after year to this perfect little house. "

The first level bedroom has an attached bathroom and jacuzzi tub. This is a large room which also could accommodate someone on an air mattress. There is a desk if you need a private spot to do work.
The laundry is in the half bath downstairs in the hallway and consists of front loading washer and dryers. The bedrooms upstairs have large closets. One room has a full mattress and the other one has a queen mattress. Both rooms will share a bathroom. Enjoy the front garden area as well as the backyard with fireplace, pool and charcoal grill. The property is very private and is far back from the road. There is plenty of yard space for yard games.
The driveway can park about five vehicles. Only the basement in garage are prohibited.

The first level bedroom has an attached bathroom and jacuzzi tub. This is a large room which also could accommodate someone on an air mattress. There is a desk if you need a private spot to do work.

The laundry is in the half bath downstairs in the hallway and consists of front loading washer and dryers.

The bedrooms upstairs have large closets. One room has a full mattress and the other one has a queen mattress. Both rooms will share a bathroom.

Enjoy the front garden area as well as the backyard with fireplace, pool and charcoal grill.

The property is very private and is far back from the road. There is plenty of yard space for yard games.

The driveway can park about five vehicles.

Please enjoy the home as you wish and treat it with respect. The house should be fairly easy to operate. The grill is charcoal so bring a lighter because I can always be sure it won't get stolen. Bring you own wood for the fire place. Feel free to use your own air mattress for additional beds but provide your own bedding. The couch is not a bed so please bring a sleeping bag if you want to use it. There is a dishwasher with dish detergent. There is laundry with detergent. Bathrooms come with towels and soaps. There are additional towels for the pool. The kitchen has a crock pot, toaster, coffee maker and most cooking supplies including a kettle. The basement and garage are off limits. The TV is only equipped with Roku and no cable TV. Please let me know if you need anything additional for your stay. Conserve linen usage as I don't supply for each day. Leave your trash bags in the trash can outside next to garage. Please lock all doors and press the lock button.

We all had fun!" - "The location of the property was great - 20 minutes to the beach - 20 minutes to Sabago lake - and don’t forget 20 minutes to Portland. The pool and large sunroom were the highlights and our host was super responsive." - "We (5 adults, 3 kids) stayed at this house for 3 days to explore the Portland area. The house was as advertised in terms of layout, plenty of space for 8 people, beds were comfy, great kitchen space, house was clean, yard and pool were very nice. Host was very pleasant, gave good recommendations for activities. I'd like to give this house a good rating but I can't due to numerous broken/dangerous things. This house should not be rented to parties with children especially until these are addressed. - At least two outlet covers were broken or missing, so the wiring/metal was exposed. This is an electric shock hazard. (one was in dining room, one in master bedroom) - Master bed/bath - visible mold in bathroom, small handle on lower sink cabinet came off easily and a toddler tried to eat it. The handle on the jacuzzi also came off when I touched it. - Upstairs - one bedroom door could not close, as in the door itself was not the right size for the doorframe. - Porch/pool - sliding door broken, could lock accidentally when you closed it so you were stuck outside. There was also an unmarked trip hazard due to an uneven threshold in the wooden floor at top 2 stairs that led down to the enclosed porch - several members of our party tripped and one fell down. - Cleaning supply caddy in cabinet were covered in unknown chemicals that had been spilled."

- "This lovely home is the last one of just 3 on a private road with direct access to Bonney Eagle Pond. It is well laid out to give folks room to spread out. A main living room with TV is just around the corner from a smaller living room with a couch that was perfect for day-time teen naps. The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped. Wonderful covered sun porch with sliders that is perfect for morning coffee and sunset viewing. There are two bathrooms...one is downstairs with a large shower, and one really spacious one upstairs with tub/shower and double bowl vanity. The upstairs one is off a hall between the double bedroom and the primary suite, and in order to get to the primary suite you must walk through the double bedroom. Not a problem for a family but might be if more than one family is sharing the house. The water was so warm and accessible by a little sandy clearing or off the dock. There is a canoe and we rented a paddle board for a couple of days from a company that delivered them to the house. We did have to bring our own life jackets. We had a wonderful time in this quiet, private home in a beautiful waterfront location and would return in a heartbeat!"
