- "My wife and I stayed at Sunset Loft for a week in August 2023. The description is very accurate, and as everyone has noted, Roma has done a great job of outfitting and decorating the cottage. We only used the loft to store our suitcase, but I’m sure it would be fine and fun for a couple kids. Plenty of storage space in the bedroom and bathroom. Kitchen well equipped, as I cooked several meals here. I’m not a fan of gas grills, but this two-burner Weber got plenty hot. Very easy three-short-block walk to the gorgeous beach. And the small backyard facing Scarborough Marsh is magical, surrounded by bird feeders. I timed this visit around the peak of the Perseids meteor shower. We only had a couple clear night skies, but I did manage to catch some shooting stars while sitting in the backyard."

The cottage gives you access to multiple restaurants and activities within walking distance. You can fish off the jetty with bait/tackle shops located on the street. Local restaurants include: Salty Bay, Bayley's Lobster Pound, The Clam Bake, Mister Bagel, Salty Bay, and Ken's Seafood. Rent kayaks or stand up paddle boards to explore the area from the sea. The excitement of Old Orchard Beach is about 2 miles away with the boardwalk, shopping, bars, restaurants, arcades, the Pier, games, and amusement park.

The historic downtown city of Portland, ME is also located within driving distance. Seaside cobblestone streets are lined with shops, boutiques, restaurants, coffee shops, and art galleries. Boating tours take place daily. Take a short ferry ride to one of Maine's Islands or go aboard a lobstering boat and catch your very own lobster.

The bed was very comfortable and easy to take down. It should be noted that it comes down over the couch so the couch would not be accessable as a sleeping source. Fishermen’s Cove Cottage is a one-story ranch with a cathedral ceiling and huge windows with views of the river and estuary. It's just a short walk to the famous Pine Point Beach, 3 miles of beautiful sandy shore which leads to Old Orchard Beach. Pine Point has several fine restaurants and it's only 10 minutes to the amusements in Old Orchard Beach, and 20 minutes to the greater Portland area and the Maine Mall for those occasional rainy days for dining and shopping. We offer seven-night stays from June to September, and full weeks or 3- or 4-night weekends in the transition seasons.
Not all of our guests use a full week but our pricing is based on a 7-night stay during the peak season because weekdays are hard to book. Please select Friday night to Thursday morning even if you will be using fewer nights so your quote is accurate.

FALL - WINTER – SPRING (The “Off-season”)
We cater to the traveling health care professional with a 30-night stay or longer. Send an inquiry for a custom quotation. Shorter stays during these times (weeks, weekends) are at a higher rate than shown online (AirBnB & VRBO only allow one rate to appear and that is the 30-night minimum rate. We will give you a custom quote. Short-term rates are higher because we deep clean between each guest and have to account for vacancies).

CHECK-IN/OUT
Check-in is Friday afternoon after 5 pm or whenever you choose to arrive. Check-out is Friday morning by 10 am. The cottage is cleaned thoroughly from 10 am to 5 pm on Fridays except when guests stay for 2 or more weeks.

PETS
We accept pets with a modest fee for special cleaning. There are a few breeds of large or heavily-shedding dogs we can't accept, primarily due to allergy sensitivities of cleaning staff and some guests. Please just ask and we will be as flexible as possible. We ask pets stay on the first floor at the Anchorage Cottage and provide a stair gate.

We have a Guest Information Booklet we will send you with more details and resources. This will also be printed in a binder at the cottage.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED
We should have everything you need, including bed linens, bath, and kitchen towels. Each bed will have a set of linens with freshly & professionally laundered ones brought each Friday, with each bed made for your comfort. We also provide comforters. You're welcome to provide your own linens if you prefer. We always have backups if needed. We provide towels but you may want your own beach towels.

We are pretty sure this place was either featured on Home Edit or very, very inspired by the show because everything is neatly organized and labeled. There is a full bar with accessories to make any mixologist feel at home. There are books, including kids books, to learn about Maine! Our favorite finds were in the garage: the wagon to cart your kids around, beach chairs, beach toys and games, beach towels, bug spray, sunscreen, a lantern, a kids lantern(!) all were above and beyond and super helpful. The wagon was a lifesaver when we went on the ferry one day. Frank was super helpful and always fast to respond. We asked him for restaurant recommendations and I highly suggest you do this if you stay here. The places he sent us to were top notch and I'm still dreaming about the food. The comfortable living space is equipped with heating and AC for year-round comfort. Guests can unwind in the cozy living room with electric fireplace, relax by the firepit in the spacious backyard, or enjoy extra space in the basement with games and toys.

Cook your own meals on a propane grill on the back deck, in the open and newly renovated kitchen, or order/ dine-in at local restaurants just minutes from the home.

Close to popular attractions and centrally located, our cottage is a short drive to popular Scarborough beaches, Old Orchard Beach, Palace Playland, Splashtown, Minigolf, Ice cream, Exceptional Seafood Restaurants like Ken's, and walking and hiking trails.

The home is also a short drive to the Maine Mall, Downtown Saco & Biddeford, University of New England (UNE) as well as Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) and University of Southern Maine (USM).

Close to I-95, 295, and Route 1. Portland is a train ride away in the summer months or easily accessible via a 15 minute car drive. Rideshares are readily available in the area and private transport for up to 6 people can be accommodated per request.

A/C units are available from July-October and are self controlled by guests. We ask for your respect regarding safety and electricity use, and turn off the units when you are out of the home for extended period, and before you check-out.

Heat is set to 65 degrees Fahrenheit October-April and to 62 degrees Fahrenheit May-September. Requests for a higher temperature setting are allowed for an additional nightly rate.

There is an electric fireplace in the living room that has heat/ light settings for your enjoyment. Please remember to turn this off when not in use or when away from the space. Do not leave it on overnight!

We want to be able to accommodate your pets, however we do ask that you respect our request to follow our rules around having them in the home. The details for this will be sent to you before check-in.

We have an open-fire pit for you to enjoy in the backyard. There are times in the summer when we will ask you not to use the fire pit based on rainfall/ droughts. Please be respectful of this request for the safety of the home and our neighbors. Out of control fires will be promptly stopped by the authorities.

Firewood MUST BE BOUGHT IN MAINE. Our state does not allow out-of-state firewood to be transported in form other states. This keeps invasive populations down and our state lush and beautiful for years to come. Please respect this request during your stay. We are happy to direct you to some local places to purchase firewood as well.

Trash comes once weekly on Monday morning. We will make sure it goes to the street and gets put back on the correct day, however please be aware that depending on your check-in there may be full cans. We ask for your patience and understanding around this circumstance.

Mosquitoes are very prevalent in our area during the summer months. They are particularly bad after rainfall and after dusk. Plan to bring bug spray or other bite prevention during your stay. We do get a professional yard spray once monthly to combat it some, and have tiki -torches available for your use.

Smoking inside the home or near the home is strictly forbidden. If you must smoke, do so away from the house and ensure the windows are closed. Please ensure any garbage related to smoking, or implements for smoking are completely removed and cleaned. Ensure residual smells are properly aired out and removed from the home. Any residual smell, garbage, or left behind implements are subject to our discretion and carry a $250 fine.

Please remember this is our home, and treat it with the same respect as you would want in your home, so it can be enjoyed for many years to come! We are understanding and fair and hope you will be too, and welcome you to Pine Point!

Communication with the property managers was easy and prompt. We appreciated having a full kitchen to prepare some meals, close proximity to beaches, shopping, and all that the Scarborough/Portland/Old Orchard Beach area has to offer. The rooftop patio is very unique and I would have loved to have spent time up there, but the stairs are a little challenging if you have young kids. One note is that the unit is on the second level, which wasn’t an issue for us but could potentially add difficulty for anyone who has challenges with stairs.
