- "Great place " - "Absolutely wonderful stay! From the moment we walked into the lobby with the friendliness of Reception, during the two nights we were there and when we left. Total relaxation next to the pool and on our balcony. Very nice and clean rooms with plenty of space. The recreation room was fun, great idea. There are a couple downfalls. The Market was closed so you have to wait for the restaurant to open which isn’t convenient for a family on a budget, so plan to eat on the Mainland or pack food to bring over - there are plenty of tables in the lobby area. The bikes are not complementary which is a bummer - in my opinion the cost of the rooms should cover the use. But these factors we worked around. All in all we really enjoyed our two days and would definitely come back. "

Panoramic Oceanfront and island view direct sunrise. Nature preserves and hiking trail next door and nearby. Away from tourist traffic but convenient to restaurants, sailing club, shopping, etc.
Home was built in 2006. Immaculate with new furniture. Unique home with 36 windows throughout capitalizing on view from nearly every room.
Second floor has master bedroom and bath suite with tub and upstairs sitting area. Incredible views. Queen Sleeper in room downstairs with half bath. Third single bed convertible couch sleeping area. Oceanfront patio with gas grill connected to house propane tank.
Home receives Sebago Bay water from Portland which is excellent during warm weather. Refrigerated water cooler and water supplied. During the Winter/ cold months house is supplied with well water. It is salty and quite good for bathing. Too salty for drinking but entirely safe.
Peaks Island is one of dozens of Island situated in Casco Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. It is the most accessible to Portland and the only one served with the Car Ferry. We believe it is one of the most beautify and definitely the most livable and convenient to Portland. Ferries run from Portland about every hour from approximately 6 a.m. to nearly midnight. There are hourly car ferries 7 days a week. The schedule varies day to day and depending on the month. The Ferry ride is extremely scenic and only 15 minutes on the water.
To reach the home take the car ferry with your vehicle or without. There is a very reliable Taxi service for 3 dollars a person to the house which meets every Ferry. You will have a scenic 2 mile drive to the property around Seashore Drive. Some like to rent a golf cart near the Ferry dock. Bicycles rentals are available near the dock. There are two for your use at the house as well.
The Casco Bay Ferry schedule is always posted on the Internet. Please call us whenever you need logitical or any further information.
Just to note. There are two standard Nest outside security cameras on the property viewing the Ocean conditions and the Street coming in. One is above the front door and the other, the oceanside sliding door. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
From the third week of October through the third week of May the city switches the water to well water. During this time dishes have to be manually washed with provided filtered water to avoid saltwater residue.
- "Great views. Great vacation on Peaks Island, Maine. Highly recommend. Highly recommend house we stayed at. Owner very accommodating and easy to contact." - "As many reviewers have said, this house has gorgeous views of the water - and a lovely patio outside to relax near the water. You have to go through the master bedroom to get to the full bathroom-which worked ok for us since there is a half bath downstairs. Just FYI - the bedroom downstairs is off the living room, and has sliding doors to the outside. We enjoyed the house and the island. There can be long waits for the car ferry to get on and off the island (3-hour wait on Monday morning)"

Charming, Secluded, Island Getaway for family and friends!
This Down-front getaway has all the advantages to make your vacation the most relaxing it can be. Anyone looking for a peaceful and quiet retreat while still wanting access to urban amenities will love this place. This home is appealing during Maine’s lovely and relaxing carefree days of summer on an Island.
The house is only a block away from the crashing surf and the ocean breezes tickling your nostrils. The house is a five minute walk from the Casco Bay Ferry, Peaks Island Post Office, the Island’s general store and of course fabulous restaurants on and off the Island in Old Port
The Be Chill Cottage is only a block from the crashing surf. It offers leisurley strolls by the seashore, the salt air and sea roses. This lovely house has a master bedroom with a queen-size bed, a second bedroom with a double-bed and a fold out couch in the main living area. The kitchen has granite counter tops, new appliances and is updated with all the essential kitchen equipment for that perfect meal. Best of all it has the essential lobster pot! The living area is quite spacious and open throughout. It offers internet and cable TV. The front deck perfect to sit out and watch the sunsets. The back deck walks out into the grassy yard that has a gas barbecue, picnic table and Adirondack chairs for those unforgettable evenings on Peaks Island.
There is a warning however! We visited the Island and fell in love with it and the Portland area in general. We ended up moving to Peaks Island. Maybe this will happen to you!
- "Very nice accommodations. Close to town and beach. Beautiful outdoor shower." - "We loved the little cottage—it was a perfect, quiet getaway. Check-in and -out was seamless and the space was exactly what we needed. 10/10 would come back" - "Everything worked great. Really nice property close to the restaurant and store on the island but still felt away from everything. Only thing... Please raise the showerhead, not made for average height people."

- "The location was fantastic! We were on the backshore yet very close to town. The house had a great layout and fit our family of six adults very comfortably. We also enjoyed the lovely gardens and spacious lawn which were very well-maintained. The hosts were very accessible and pleasant and we loved the personalized touches like fresh flowers and home-baked crumb cake. Ford House is a great rental!" - "The John Ford House is a wonderful bungalow just a block from the Casco Bay. Every morning I sat on the deck and watched the water, breathed in the clear air and enjoyed the cool breeze. The house is lovely - beautiful wood floors, antique furniture, a wonderful yard, and a great view of the water from the Master Bedroom. If you're a fan of old movies - which I am - then this is the place for you. There are framed posters from John Ford's movies, a DVD collection of his works (and other movies too) and books about him and his career. The house is an easy walk into "town" or to the 2 public beaches. Dan and Mona were great and answered all of my questions. I'd return to Peak's Island just to stay there again!"

We are already dreaming about SUMMER 2023 and will begin accepting reservations after JANUARY 1, 2023. We look forward to hearing from you at the beginning of the new year.
We would like to welcome you to our traditional Maine cottage. A cottage with contemporary comforts within the heritage and charm of our much loved family cottage, which is over 100 years young.
Within this charming cottage we have added WiFi, cable, new mattresses and painted beadboard downstairs and upstairs.
This is a home for vacation living in comfort. We are truly on the peak of Peaks Is.
Morning coffee is best enjoyed on the sunny front porch where you can welcome the day and say hello to the neighbors. However end of day wine should be savored on the screened porch in the late afternoon watching the sunset It is from the screened porch, as well as the house that one has breath taking views of Portland, Portland Harbor, other islands and on a clear day Mt. Washington.
The cottage faces west so the view each evening is of the sunset, sometimes turning the land and water to rose sometimes to gold.
We have a large eat in kitchen, a dining room and a living room, with lots of book shelves filled with choices to meet everyone's interest. The first floor bathroom has a claw foot tub and is off the kitchen.
Up-stairs are three bedrooms, one king bed one queen bed and third with twin beds. The full bath with a shower and separate tub.
Our cottage is a ten minute walk from the ferry and the island shops and library. It is a few houses from the school yard, which has a playground and basketball court. It is also only a short walk, or bike ride, to the island clubhouse for children's camp, tennis or sailing.
We also have a good sized yard for playing ball.

- "We had the most spectacular stay at the cottage! There are such beautiful views and the cottage is so convenient to the ferry and restaurants. Jean was so lovely and helpful. The house was clean and spacious. We can’t thank the family enough for such a wonderful time and hope to be back next year for a longer stay." - "Lovely cottage with plenty of room for 6 adults. The Beach House is an open concept design with 180 degree views of the ocean and windows on all sides. It sits on a sea wall on the Centennial Beach with amazing views of surrounding islands and the absolute best spot to watch the sunset on Peaks. Steps away from a sandy beach has a public boat ramp nearby for kayaking, boating, etc. and only a ten minute walk from the Casco Bay Ferry Terminal, with taxi service available if coming to the island on foot! There is plenty of room to park your car at the cottage. We might be biased, but the Beach House is the most magical spot on the island.
- "This was the perfect place for a few days after our wedding. The weather was great and we were able to enjoy the whole island, utilizing the private beach, golf cart, and crab pot (caught just one and threw him back!). And our dogs may have enjoyed the place more than us, great yard to run around, plenty of swimming steps away from our front door, and sunset cruise on the golf cart." - "We had a great stay, this was our second time staying at this property. It has an unbeatable location and is the perfect place to unplug and relax for a weekend."

Available May 1 - Columbus Day. Full-week rentals only, Saturday-Saturday July 1 - Labor Day. Three-day minimum otherwise.
The house is simply but completely furnished and colorfully decorated, for family use, not as a 'rental property.' Virtually everything in the cottage has some sentimental value, having been either handed down from parents and grandparents or repaired, purchased, or brought back from a journey by the current generation of the family… if it didn’t come with the house when our family purchased it in the late 1970’s.
We do not provide linens. If you do not bring your own, you can rent them from a service on the island.
The cottage is perfectly suited for a quiet family holiday. It is not appropriate for large groups or noisy parties.
Recently the house was re-shingled and insulated from the outside, to preserve the “cottage feel” inside. All the windows and screens were replaced and interior walls and trim freshly painted. Floors were sanded and varnished. A new full bath with shower and laundry room were added off the kitchen.
The house sits at the end of a quiet road, high above the sea, about 100 yards through the woods from the rocky shore of Josiah’s Cove. Though the cottage is not on the waterfront, from the porch you can see the ocean sparkling. A short steep walk down through what our grown children long ago dubbed 'The Magic Woods' brings you to the back yard of our other cottage.
The cottage is open from Memorial Day through Columbus Day.
First floor
There is a wrap-around porch, perfect for breakfast, cocktails and afternoon reading or napping.
The comfortably furnished living room has windows on three sides and a pass-through to the kitchen. There's a daybed for napping, a table in a corner perfect for Scrabble. For safety and insurance reasons we do not allow guests to use the fireplace.
To reach the kitchen one passes through a small, formal dining room with built-in china cabinet.
To the right of the dining room is a new, large master bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a rattan love seat and coffee table, big skylights, pine floors and paneling, and windows all around. It’s beautiful! Awaking to the ocean view is truly special.
The kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, and plenty of china, flat ware, sharp knives, and other tools. There is a gas range, a refrigerator with freezer, a microwave and a built-in dishwasher. The refrigerator, washer and dryer are in a new utility room just around the corner from the kitchen, to the right.
To the left beyond the kitchen is a new bathroom with shower. And on the way out to the woods there is wonderfully powerful outdoor shower, closed in up to about six feet but open to the trees and the sky above.
Second floor
On the second floor there is a small full bath with clawfoot tub, but no shower.
Off a central hallway there are four bedrooms, two with double beds, two with two twin beds each.
All have bureaus and closet space.

- "Woody's cottage was great, the views are beautiful and was perfect for our needs." - "My family stayed here for a week and had a wonderful time. The location is away from the higher-trafficked areas of the island which made for an extra peaceful stay. Heron's Perch on Peaks' Island has space to hold everyone and cozy spots to curl up on your own. Just steps to the market and ice cream shop and a short bike ride to the open ocean on the back shore. Beautiful porch to enjoy morning coffee and light filled rooms. There are four bedrooms and a full bath upstairs with a total of 4 queen beds, 1 double beds and 1 twin bed. One bedroom has a desk. Heron's Perch was built in 1867 and the stairs to the second floor are steeper than modern stairs. There is a sleeping area with a comfortable foldout futon and desk on the first floor off the sitting room and a 3/4 bath downstairs. Plenty of room to relax in the two living rooms, front porch, back deck and large lawn with picnic table, chairs and fire pit. Peaks' Island has everything to make wonderful memories and rest and restore. We are in a residential neighborhood and for this reason quiet hours are mandatory from 10PM-7AM.

We close up the cottage during the winter months. Available May 1 - Columbus Day. One-week minimum, Saturday - Saturday, July 1 - Labor Day. Three-day minimum otherwise.
High speed wi-fi and printer.
Three double bedrooms, one twin bedroom. One half-bath, one full bath with tub and hand-held shower, one outside shower.
Our spacious but cozy family cottage is located on a quiet, dead-end shorefront road, just a few yards from the water with an uninterrupted view of Josiah's Cove and then across the sparkling sea 'all the way to Portugal.' It retains the charm of its 100-year history even though we've lovingly restored and equipped it with up-to-date appliances, numerous sky-lights, new mattresses and wireless internet service.
We do not provide linens. Guests who do not bring their own can rent them from a service on the island.
The cottage is perfectly suited for a quiet family holiday. It is not appropriate for large groups or noisy parties. Absolute maximum occupancy is 8. No weddings or other events are allowed.
It's a strictly non-smoking cottage. We are sorry, but we cannot accommodate pets.
The top floor includes the master bedroom with water views, double bed, adjoining full bath with clawfoot tub, and an adjoining children's bedroom with two twin beds. The main level includes two double bedrooms with a half-bath between, along with the kitchen, dining room and living room.
A brick fireplace defines the cathedral-ceilinged living room. But most guests prefer sitting on the front porch to watch the sun rising at dawn, the lobster boats pulling their traps in the early morning, the sail boats passing all day long and the lights of the giant tankers twinkling in the distance at night.
For insurance and safety reasons guests are not allowed to use the fireplace.
Guests may use the barbecues outside, but must provide their own fuel, propane or charcoal, both readily available on the island.
There is a wonderful outdoor shower at the back of the house.
Peaks Island is a safe and quiet family paradise offering beaches, tennis courts, kayaking, fishing (including from the rocks in front of the cottage) and great walking and bike-riding. Bikes and kayaks are available for rent. And it's all just a 20-minute car ferry ride from the shopping, excellent restaurants, movies and first-class art museum of Portland.
The cottage is normally open from Memorial Day through Columbus Day. Please inquire about early May and late October.

- "Older cottage with great porch overlooking Josiah's Cove. Bedrooms are comfortable, 4th bedroom upstairs is a walk through. No indoor shower, only a deep bathtub, but we liked the outdoor shower. It is off the beaten path so very quiet. The porch facing Josiah's Cove is the best!" - "Great island house with gorgeous ocean views! Highly recommend!" - "Wow! Panoramic view, charming, peaceful, wraparound porch, outdoor shower (especially convenient for downstairs sleepers), great kitchen space with adequate tools, and (very important) an owner (Woody) who was very thoughtful and responsive to any issues and needs. We rented Woody’s cottage with our dear friends who we had not seen in four years, due to the pandemic. We have a history together vacationing on Peaks. Woody’s magical place provided us the perfect setting to reunite. We had such a wonderful time, one for the memory books. In finishing the review I think this quote from my best friend says it all. “Scott and I loved the vintage ME cottage vibe and enjoyed the quiet location. One never wanted to leave the porch and the view. We would return”."

Vacation summer house on Great Diamond Island, with a boat mooring.
Our 4 bedroom house sports a grand view of Casco Bay because of its proximity to the shoreline. The panoramic west view provides an unobstructed view of the sunset to the horizon every night. The house is an original home built in 1901 that has retained its antique camp style interior. This is not a modern house, as it is 120 years old. There is no air conditioning nor heating. The island normally sports a nice summertime onshore breeze that keeps the house comfortable.
The wrap around porch has a picnic table for outdoor eating and a hammock for relaxing. A propane bbq for outdoor cooking. There are two upper level balconies expanding two of the upstairs bedrooms. Perfect reading nooks. The large sunny yard is perfect for playing wiffle ball, frisbee, swinging on the tire swing, and sun bathing.
Beach access is quick and easy right down from the front yard. There is a rock reef just off shore that provides comfortable protected swimming at mid tides as the water is warmed in the sunny afternoons. Take the included kayaks out for some exploration.
If you bring your own boat then you can use the included mooring ball. There is dock at at the south end of the island to load and unload guests and supplies. There are numerous islands and destinations that can be explored with your boat. I provide a list of suggestions of islands and restaurants to visit by boat.
Bicycles are included if you care to ride the island. At low tide you can ride across the sand bar to Little Diamond Island to explore that island as well. Pets are welcome. Rainy days can be filled by trying any of the numerous board games stashed in the game cabinet, or relax while streaming a movie on the flat screen TV. Fiber cable internet wifi is included.
Portland is a 20 minute ferry ride. Casco Bay ferries provide numerous round trips each day to Portland and surrounding islands.
There are two restaurants on the island. There are no food stores nor retail shops, so you will need to bring your food or have it shipped to the island for your stay. I provide instructions on how to accomplish this easily. The fully equipped kitchen includes a microwave and dishwasher. A propane bbq is available outside.
We include an easy to use electric golf cart to transport your food and luggage from the ferry dock to the house.
A RESERVATION LENGTH MORE THAN 7 nights requires pre-approval.

- "It had everything we needed and a great view, too. Loved the golf cart and outdoor games provided. Very responsive to our needs. Altho the weather didn't cooperate we still had a cozy and wonderful time together." - "Our family had a wonderful stay at Kate & Jonathan's place on GDI. The cottage was full of charm, super comfortable, and had everything we needed. Jonathan met us at the dock with the golf cart and helped us get all our bags loaded up, gave a little tour of the island and cottage. We loved the porch, hammock, water access with kayaks, use of the golf cart, and the water views out of just about every window. We like to cook and found the kitchen to be well stocked. We had a great dinner at The Crown Jewel (get the scallops) and happened to be there on a Saturday night when the Town Hall had a band which was so much fun. We want to especially thank Kate and Jonathan for being dog friendly. Our dog is getting up there in age and to be able to have her with us all week was super special. We very much hope to come back to the cottage - it is an amazing place."

- "The house was completely perfect in every way- so clean it looked like I was the first person to ever step foot inside, every single piece of furniture charming and extremely comfortable, everything in perfect condition, with thoughtful extra touches like an excellent espresso machine and well maintained bicycles, plus so many careful and wonderful details, and everything you could need organized and labeled. Lisa was an exceptional host, she made sure that the check in process was easy and went out of her way to help make sure I knew the ferry times and gave me advice about getting around the island (which is easy and delightful). She answered all my questions very quickly. And, saving perhaps the best for last, the location: just spectacular. The view is astonishing, and there’s a wall of windows in the front and you can sit and eat or work or hang out and just look at the ocean and nearby islands, it was magical. It’s right near one of my favorite spots in the island, a rocky beach where people make sculptures. It’s quiet and secluded but still an easy walk to the ferry and restaurants and shops. I feel so lucky to have stayed here and hope to come back many times."

To See It is to Love It!
A sweet island cottage with everything you need for a home away from home. Private bedroom with queen-size bed. Additional double and twin beds on the sunny, enclosed porch and a futon in the living room. Full kitchen and modern bath with shower, dining room, yard, grill, picnic table and WiFi. A three minute walk to a sandy beach and a 15-20 minute walk to ferry, stores, restaurants. Gorgeous sunsets and a peek of the blue ocean water. Smoke-free. Pack n play and children's books available upon request.
- "Quaint and comfortable cottage" - "Small spaces but very nice. If you’re out and about most of the time, the place is just right. Very nice owners right next door. No TV which actually was very relaxing. Got tons of reading done. High LR ceiling too which made it feel more spacious. Wouldn’t recommend for more than 3 to 4 tops." - "I'd like to rank this with one star to keep others away, but of course, I can't! The cottage was just as Kristin described it online. Adorable, an easy walk or bike ride to the beach and businesses, private, and just what we wanted. We are a family of 4 - the two adults fit perfectly in the small bedroom and two teenagers had more than enough space on the sleeping porch. Even one more kid would have fit on there. We walked and biked everywhere. Took they ferry one day into downtown Portland where we walked all over. Throughly enjoyed the Standard Baking Co. and were sad that we chose the day Duck Fat was closed. Rarely moved our vehicle (only one morning to catch the sunrise). We cooked most of our meals but also enjoyed the island restaurants. Got surprise fireworks on the 2nd of July. It was a perfect vacation for us. If you're looking for a busy, bustling vacation, Peaks is probably not the spot for you. But if you're looking for laid back, easy going, you'd love it there. Kristin and Rob were wonderful hosts - they live in the front house with their family. They offered great suggestions, checked on us, but let us be (when desired). I'd definitely recommend their adorable cottage. We'd love to stay there again!"

Glorious Long Island Maine! Quiet, peaceful, friendly neighbors. Looking for a place to relax and rekindle your romance-this is the place. Have long lazy days of walking on beaches, cooking together and relaxing on the wraparound porch. My home has ash hardwood flooring with sea grass rugs for easy care and comfort. The walls are covered with hemlock shiplap and wonderfully scented cedar in the main bathroom. The kitchen is simple yet elegant with slate countertops and an open concept island. The romance continues in the bathroom with a two person marble shower and to complete the romance a copper soaking tub for one or two! For those cold nights you can sit outside on the wrap around deck and enjoy marshmallows at the fireplace. There is also a large deck for grilling and entertaining. Walk to the beach on those wonderful sunny days, get lobsters and cook them in the deck, grab a book and read on the wicker lounge chair. Rent a golf cart or bike and walk. Heartrock is a 5 minute walk to Fowler’s beach and a bit longer walk to the sandy shores of south beach. The house is secluded at the end of a dead end road and very private. House is limited to two people and no pets. Saturday to Saturday rental.
- "Great place, great location on the island. I would absolutely stay here again." - "This property is great! We honeymooned here and fell in love with the property and the area. Jackie is awesome! And the people on the island are friendly. Make sure to stop in and eat at the Bakehouse (the woopie pies and cookies are great!) And tell them Ed says hi (we may or may not have stopped by at least once a day). Rent a golf cart to get around, but make sure you take some walks too. Couldn't ask for a more perfect place to spend our honeymoon!"

- "We were very impressed with the cottage on peaks island. It was a short walk to smaller beach but a bit of a hike to larger beach but no problem to use our car. The rooms, beds, and amenities were all top notch. My wife and I enjoyed the master bedroom and bathroom with double shower heads. The kitchen was very nice and enjoyed the taller counters for the week. We were able to cook some great food while on the island with everything they supplied. Great stay for us overall."

An absolutely enchanting 2 BR cottage right on the ocean. Can sleep 7. Lovely swimmable Beach. 2 fireplaces, Jacuzzi tub, washer and dryer, off road parking. 2 kayaks, and bicycles are included. Peaks island is a resort island with four restaurants, gift shops, a large grocery store and hourly ferry service from Portland, Maine. Some weeks in July still available. Email me or call me. See pictures.
- "Great spot overlooking the best cove beach on Island. The host was wonderful to work with. The bikes and kayaks that were included were a great unexpected addition" - "I would recommend updating the cottage and cleaning better and sprucing up the yard and exterior. The rugs were especially dirty and time to replace. The wood floors would be a better look. Unfortunately I can’t recommend staying here until some improvements are made and property is better cared for. Owner was great to work with and I don’t think would take much for this to be a great rental. Again having the kayaks was a highlight of the trip and I love Peaks. Fantastic location on the water as well."
