The door keys are read by proximity, saving a little effort but is a nice touch. The rooms look very contemporary and the furniture appears to be ordered specifically for the building layout. The bathroom has glass doors, which looks so much nicer than the standard tub. The only drawback is that the room was somewhat small, and they skipped the sofa/chair to relax on (I didn't mind, but only stayed overnight). "

- "We booked this hotel last minute, and got a very comfortable room with two comfortable beds and a nice roomy bathroom. Bathroom. It was very clean, and the front desk was very accommodating. We had planned to check out at about 6:00 in the morning and she said that somebody would be able to grab a few ready to go items for us to have for breakfast on the road. Even though their morning breakfast service it wasn't till later. They quickly brought us extra pillows and blankets, and I would definitely stay here again. There is construction going on right now and we heard it in the morning but it didn't start till about 8:30 or 9:00 so it wasn't a problem for us. The peaceful, six-acre property is home to a variety of wildlife and is great for watching large birds of prey gliding on the cliff updrafts right in front of the house! The area is also known for its hiking, fishing, watersports, fruit farms, and wineries, and is a short drive from the shopping and restaurants of Hood River.

You'll fall in love with the main level's floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the river, as well as its high vaulted ceilings, comfy furnishings, and all-wood interior. The flatscreen TV will stream your favorite Netflix movies and shows whenever you need a break from the river, and the central AC will cool the home down on hot summer afternoons.

The full kitchen is the dream of any family chef, with stainless steel appliances that include a French-door refrigerator and a dishwasher, a center prep island, and lots of storage and counter space. The kids can enjoy your home-cooked meals from the three barstools and the wood dining table has seating for up to 10 guests. Outside, you'll find a fully enclosed wrap-around deck equipped with a new six-person hot tub, a large gas grill, and plenty of outdoor seating.

Also on the main floor is a spacious bedroom with en-suite bathroom with a king bed. The entire home is filled with countless antiques, artwork, and custom pieces to create the perfect blend of character and comfort.

Ascending upstairs there are a couple different sections of the house. One has two additional bedrooms along with a full bath nearby. For more sleeping flexibility there is a twin day bed just outside the bedrooms which is perfect for kiddos or young adults.

The other upstairs section of the home is perfect for fun and entertainment. There is a large couch and a huge TV to enjoy countless streaming options. If you are looking for a little competitive enjoyment there is a pool table, dart board, and putting mat for the group or family to thoroughly enjoy together.

Descending downstairs you will find a lower level that is quite special. Besides the laundry and some facilities related stuff, there is a final sleeping area that is a haven for the kiddos. The room has multiple twin beds as well as a twin over twin bunk. There is some comfortable seating and TV for streaming. The teepee is always a hit as well.

As you can tell, this home was furnished a level of thought and care to facilitate most any group or family have a truly special time. This property includes a noise alert monitoring system in order to ensure that neighborhood noise levels are respected. - "Have been driving through The Dalles for over 40 years but had never spent a night there. Struck gold on this first ever three-night stay. The house was amazing. The dining room, living room, library and bar area were masterfully preserved retaining the original ambiance of a luxurious home built in 1929. Despite this, we spent almost all of our time on the wrap around deck from sunrise to well past sunset. The kitchen was updated with top shelf appliances and gear. Cooked and barbequed two meals and went out once. Ate all meals on the deck. Went to museums, wine-tasting rooms, wineries and shopping and never had to drive more than 10 miles from the house with most locations less than 4 miles. Oh, one more thing--the view was spectacular."

I highly recommend renting this unit." - "Lifelong friends needed a local place to gather this year due to family commitments and I was pleasantly surprised to find this newer listing on VRBO! I had a couple of questions during our stay and Tracy always responded right away. It was a lovely home with a large, well-stocked kitchen including double-ovens which we did end up using a couple of times over our three-day stay. The deck has a great view of the Columbia River and The Dalles Dam; however, we could not enjoy sitting outside because of the noise from the freeway and also the wind (which we knew could be a possibility since we're all from the area). No worries, though, as the wall of windows in the living room and pool room worked just as well to enjoy the scenery (windows could use a wash, though). Speaking of the downstairs pool room - we also made use of the pool table while listening to oldies through the t.v. We did not use the hot tub so I cannot comment on that. All in all, a great stay and I would book this one again but a few smaller items need to be addressed: a few of the remotes need new batteries (upstairs fan, windspeed indicator on kitchen window sill, downstairs fireplace), the air intake grate could use a cleaning, the blinds were not the easiest to get up and down, the shower curtain in the hall bath upstairs kept coming off of the hooks and the master bath shower curtain was too short allowing water to escape onto the tile floor. All easy to remedy and again, we all enjoyed our stay!"

Take a scenic drive to the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center (seven miles), Rowena Crest (13 miles), the Mosier Plateau Trail (17 miles), or the Coyote Wall Trail (24 miles). Your vacation rental also includes a pass to the Dalles Athletic Club, the largest and only full-service club in the gorge!

- "We had such a fun time at this house. We had three families, so we loved that all the kids could take over the downstairs while we enjoyed adult time on the upstairs deck. Great views of the river and the kids loved getting daily visits from local deer. Michelle was an amazing host, very responsive and even discounted our pet fee when we decided to leave the pup at home. The views from the living area and porch are stunningly beautiful. The owners, D & L, are magnificent. They take great pride in their home and are immediately responsive if there is an issue. We've since become close friends. The only negative, as far as I was concerned, is I didn't;t have enough time to explore The Dalles. While it appears like it's in desperate need of renewal, there is a hidden side to the town that includes a wonderful breakfast/sandwich shop on 10th St with a great outdoor patio and a rear alley, Prohibition-like hidden entrance bar with mixed drinks of every type and great wood-fired pizza!"

-The apartment is particularly secluded, as it sits atop a hill at the end of E 5th St and neighbors city owned green space. You'll feel like you've landed at a little pad above it all, while being right in the center.
