Dr. Hyde was a beloved local family physician that built and lived in the home for many years. Connected to the kitchen is some tableside seating as well as some space at the bar. The main living room has additional dining room seating as well as a cozy place to relax after a day of adventures or just because. The entire room is bathed in natural light and incredible views. When it is time to relax, throw on a record and read one of your favorites in the attached library.

Also on the main floor is a spacious bedroom with en-suite bathroom with a king bed. The entire home is filled with countless antiques, artwork, and custom pieces to create the perfect blend of character and comfort.

Ascending upstairs there are a couple different sections of the house. One has two additional bedrooms along with a full bath nearby. For more sleeping flexibility there is a twin day bed just outside the bedrooms which is perfect for kiddos or young adults.

The other upstairs section of the home is perfect for fun and entertainment. There is a large couch and a huge TV to enjoy countless streaming options. If you are looking for a little competitive enjoyment there is a pool table, dart board, and putting mat for the group or family to thoroughly enjoy together.

Descending downstairs you will find a lower level that is quite special. Besides the laundry and some facilities related stuff, there is a final sleeping area that is a haven for the kiddos. The room has multiple twin beds as well as a twin over twin bunk. There is some comfortable seating and TV for streaming. The teepee is always a hit as well.

As you can tell, this home was furnished a level of thought and care to facilitate most any group or family have a truly special time. Please stay indoors during this time, keep the windows and doors closed and keep the volume to an enjoyable but reasonable level. If it is loud enough to be heard outside in these conditions, it is too loud for you to remain our guest. This property includes a noise alert monitoring system in order to ensure that neighborhood noise levels are respected. Again, please realize we want every group to enjoy their time, laugh, have fun and make memories. These devices are only to ensure noise levels don't reach a threshold that bothers our neighbors. Also, please note there is no electronic video surveillance monitoring the interior of the house.

- "Have been driving through The Dalles for over 40 years but had never spent a night there. Struck gold on this first ever three-night stay. The house was amazing. The dining room, living room, library and bar area were masterfully preserved retaining the original ambiance of a luxurious home built in 1929. Despite this, we spent almost all of our time on the wrap around deck from sunrise to well past sunset. The kitchen was updated with top shelf appliances and gear. Cooked and barbequed two meals and went out once. Ate all meals on the deck. Went to museums, wine-tasting rooms, wineries and shopping and never had to drive more than 10 miles from the house with most locations less than 4 miles. Oh, one more thing--the view was spectacular."

We welcome you to enjoy our newly built peaceful home overlooking the Columbia Gorge. The patio provides a beautiful daytime view of the Columbia Gorge and mountains as well as a twinkling nighttime view of the city. This slice of heaven is located in The Gorge near restaurants, breweries, hiking, fishing, rafting, and kiteboarding . 8 minutes to the marina if you would like to bring a boat. Please note that there is a steep driveway to get to our street.

I had a couple of questions during our stay and Tracy always responded right away. It was a lovely home with a large, well-stocked kitchen including double-ovens which we did end up using a couple of times over our three-day stay. The deck has a great view of the Columbia River and The Dalles Dam; however, we could not enjoy sitting outside because of the noise from the freeway and also the wind (which we knew could be a possibility since we're all from the area). No worries, though, as the wall of windows in the living room and pool room worked just as well to enjoy the scenery (windows could use a wash, though). Speaking of the downstairs pool room - we also made use of the pool table while listening to oldies through the t.v. We did not use the hot tub so I cannot comment on that. All in all, a great stay and I would book this one again but a few smaller items need to be addressed: a few of the remotes need new batteries (upstairs fan, windspeed indicator on kitchen window sill, downstairs fireplace), the air intake grate could use a cleaning, the blinds were not the easiest to get up and down, the shower curtain in the hall bath upstairs kept coming off of the hooks and the master bath shower curtain was too short allowing water to escape onto the tile floor. This four-story home enjoys an elevated position up above The Dalles, just over three miles from the heart of town. Its secluded, east-facing position grants it gorgeous sunrise views and wonderful privacy - yet you're still close to all sorts of natural wonders. Take a scenic drive to the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center (seven miles), Rowena Crest (13 miles), the Mosier Plateau Trail (17 miles), or the Coyote Wall Trail (24 miles). Your vacation rental also includes a pass to the Dalles Athletic Club, the largest and only full-service club in the gorge!

Whether your days are spent hiking or windsurfing, you'll delight in returning to this beautiful piece of property. Bring a glass of local wine outside to the terraced deck and watch your kids play in the yard overlooking the river.

Inside, the living room acts as the heart of the home - a place to play board games by the fireplace, stream movies from the comfort of the sofa, or curl up in the window seat with a good book and a great view. There's also an eat-in kitchen (with double ovens, a six-burner gas range, and a French-door fridge) and a window-lined dining room.

The expansive primary suite has the top floor to itself, offering a smart TV, an en suite bathroom with a soaking tub and separate shower, and a loft-like home office for those hoping to work remotely. There are two more bedrooms on the third floor and one on the lower level. A second home office on the bottom floor doubles as a sleeping space and opens to the deck. Other home essentials include a Pack 'N Play, central air, and a washer/dryer.

The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.
