A charming whimsical retreat in the High Valley community of Packwood, WA. - this retreat is close to Mount Rainier providing countless hiking opportunities; nearly out of the back door! Cowlitz River access is just across the road and a small walking distance away. There are many dvd movies to watch, CDs for listening & books to read. Build a campfire, look at the stars, read a book, or just enjoy the elk walking by. The house sleeps 2 (Queen bed), 1 on a sofa (if you wish but it is not a hide-a-bed). I love decorating so every room has special touches to make it homey and comfortable. If you are looking for sterile plain surroundings this is not the place for you. It has been decorated as my very own home and it is comfortable warm and inviting! I love Packwood and I love the mountains! Use of the seasonal community country club - pool swimming and golf are available upon request (time allowing for permission slips).

Cozy 282 sq foot packwood travel camper on a quiet cul de sac at the end of high valley. King bed with 55 inch hdtv and Xbox s. Pull out sofa with 32 inch hdtv. AC and furnace. Small propane and charcoal Weber grills. Google wifi mesh network. The bathroom is equipped with a hair dryer and a small shower. Yard games, ping pong, hammocks and fire-pit.

About a 10 minute (5 mile) drive to downtown Packwood. 5 minute walk to the river access trail. About a 30 minute (25 mile) drive to White Pass ski area.

Property is partially fenced in the back yard. Neighbor does have a friendly dog that may visit and also a rooster that wakes up early.

*Living quarters are in a travel camper and thus space provided in shower, bathroom, kitchen and other living areas are minimized to fit the 282 square footage.

*There are security cameras on the front yard and driveway only. The inside and backyard with games and fire pit are private.

*Like most of High Valley, there is a mixture of cabins, ranch homes, and manufactured homes in the neighborhood. Neighboring tenants are a mixture of full time and vacationers.

* Please be safe and responsible. This RV is permanently parked under cover on private property and is maintained and inspected regularly. It is operated by Nine Properties LLC as a vacation rental. The town was super close too so it was very nice to swing by the brewery at night and coffee shops/stands during the day. Ontop of the location being more than ideal the RV was amazing. Mount Rainier Chipmunk Cabin sits on a corner lot full of ferns, cedar trees, and rhododendrons in the High Valley neighborhood (see map for location and proximity to other neighbors). We are on a quiet cul-de-sac with 60 acres of Gifford Pinchot forest across the street. The Cowlitz River is just a 5-minute walk away. We are close to Packwood town, minutes from hiking trails, 17 miles to White Pass Ski Resort, and 20-25 minutes from Mt. Rainier Nat'l Park entrances. This updated cabin is full of amenities that perfectly combine the nature of the Pacific Northwest with the comfort of fine lodging.

THE CABIN: 1 bedroom, 1 open loft bedroom, 3/4 bath, sleeps 5. All mattresses and linens are high-quality. High-speed internet throughout the house, and keyless entry.

Note about traveling to Packwood: Please check pass information if you are visiting outside of summer months. Cayuse Pass (HWY123) and Skate Creek Rd. (FR 52) are impassable for many months even though your GPS may tell you otherwise. Cayuse Pass is a beautiful way to arrive from the Seattle area, but it is only open June - Oct. Skate Creek Rd. to and from the Nisqually entrance of Mt. Rainier is scenic as well, but is closed often in winter and even spring months. The most certain way to arrive from the Seattle and Portland areas is to go through Morton and enter on HWY 12. Scenic White Pass Highway (HWY 12) is cleared and kept open all year long. It is a separate building from the main cabin and attached to the back of the garage. It is 200 sq ft - has a queen bed, bathroom, jakuzzi tub, small wood stove, 55 inch 4K hd tv, soundbar, google Wifi mesh network, Keurig coffee maker, fold down table/desk and chair, and a fridge. It cannot be rented separate from the main cabin. Nor will it ever be occupied if main cabin renters choose not to add it to their stay. If added to the main cabin stay it would increase the maximum people to 8 with 6 adults and 2 children sleeping on the couch or mats.

Our neighborhood is very quiet and nestled in the forest in the upper Timberline neighborhood. Elk are the most frequent visitors. From the house there are quiet gravel roads that can be walked. The town of Packwood is very sweet with 300 year-round residents. It is about 5 minutes west on Hwy 12 and has a quaint food market, liquor store, a few artisan shops, a coffee shop, a brewery, a tavern, and a restaurant or two. We always recommend doing big shopping before you arrive. White Pass is about 20 minutes east for your winter fun.

You have full access to the main house (2 bed, 2 bath, & futon) and outside space including hot tub, covered outdoor entertainment area, fire pit and landscaped portion of the property. There is a garage on the premises that is off limits and periodically accessed by the owners.

Plan your next Pacific Northwest hiking or ski adventure at the Woolly Bear Cabin, nestled into the forested terrain of Mount Rainier just minutes from the mountain town of Packwood, Washington and less then 30 minutes to White Pass Ski Resort!
This cabin is also located 20 minutes from Mt. Rainier National Park (Paradise/Stevens Canyon Entrance). Constructed by hand in the 1970’s with local lumber and beautiful amber logs, this cabin is one-of-a-kind; a real northwest relic. The cabin underwent several updates and renovations to ensure guests are comfortable while enjoying a wonderful get-away. The cabin was even featured on a recent Taco Time Northwest commercial! The layout of the cabin is most conducive for a family trip, or no more than 4 adults. There is an open-air loft upstairs with a queen size bed. Downstairs is the common living space, a kitchen set-up, a bedroom with a queen size bed, and the bathroom (with shower).
It is not uncommon to spot deer, elk, and other friendly foe in the yard while enjoying your morning coffee on the deck. The area is wonderful for day hikes, outdoor exploration, finding your own Christmas tree (permit required), mushroom foraging, trips to Mount Rainier National Park, Paradise, and White Pass, or just simply finding a quiet place to unwind. The Woolly Bear cabin is an all-seasons get away with something for everyone to enjoy.
The cabin is equipped with modern amenities such as air conditioning, washer/dryer, wi-fi, a smart tv, full refrigerator, oven, microwave, coffee maker, and other kitchen gadgets and appliances. There’s even an “old school” VHS-friendly television in the loft and you are welcome to enjoy the owner’s VHS collection while visiting.

Our entire cabin has been fully remodeled, featuring a complete kitchen, new LG appliances, Frigidaire induction oven, Kohler plumbing throughout, Mohawk plank flooring, and outdoor fire pit with lighting above. The master bedroom has its own 3/4 en-suite bath, and select number king bed. The master also features french doors leading out back to the deck and secluded fire pit. The space
This an updated home on a large lot in High Valley. It has two large bedrooms each with kings beds and and down comforters. We have blackout blinds on the bedroom windows to ensure you can sleep in if you choose. The master bedroom has a full bathroom with a bathtub.

The living room is cozy and modern with a propane fireplace that can warm the room with a flip of a switch. A flat screen TV with access to Netflix, HBOMax and many other free streaming apps is perfect for movie night.

The kitchen is spacious and fully stocked and the dining room has a large table where everyone can gather for a meal.

The game room has a foosball table, shuffleboard table, TV with firestick, mini super Nintendo console preloaded with tons of games a fireplace, and a full sized futon which can sleep up to two people.

Outside you will find a large, covered porch with a hottub and picnic table. A firepit and second covered seating area are perfect for enjoying the outdoors. Firewood is included.

Located in upper Timberline Village three miles East of Packwood. The cabin is set in a small cul-d-sac on a quiet wooded lot. The neighborhood is surrounded by Gifford Pinchot National Forest with many hiking trails nearby. The property is at 1500 feet elevation.

Please note:
- Three steps lead to the porch entrance of the cabin.
- Inside, there is a steep set of stairs leading to the bedrooms.
- Due to the steep stairs, we caution all guests with small children to provide close supervision.

- One bedroom is private with a queen bed.
- The other bedroom is in a loft type setting where it is open to the stairway and not considered private.

- "Very nice cabin; fully stocked kitchen and many extras. Owner was next door and came over for a visit and was kind enough to help with propane tank that was just too tight for us ladies to turn on. It was unseasonably HOT in Packwood (over 100) during our stay so we appreciated the AC and additional fans. It was comfortable to just "chill out", read, watch movies, etc... Very much appreciated that we were not "expected" to do laundry, change beds, etc...though we left the cabin in tip-top shape. Cabin's location is close to town and not far from park entrances. I would definitely stay in this VRBO again. The beauty of Mount Rainer for me would be to head to Eastside of MR to SR123, and 401. If you can't do long hikes and don't want to fight lines at MRNP, head to Chinook Pass and take the approx. 4 mile Naches Peak Loop - beautiful views of lakes and Mount Rainer."

The Sun and Snow Bungalow is a dog friendly air-conditioned cabin near Mt Rainier National Park surrounded by the Tatoosh Wilderness, Gifford Pinchot National Forest and Goat Rocks Wilderness.

WINTER CONDITIONS: Highway 12 and our neighborhood roads are well maintained and we will do our best keeping our driveway and entrance to the cabin cleared but may not be plowed or shoveled out immediately during snow events. During the winter months please be prepared for snow! Our community may also experience periodic power outages during big weather events - the cabin is stocked with extra blankets; a propane heater and we will do our best to maintain communication with you!
CLEANING FEE: our cleaning fee goes directly to our cleaners who are a locally owned small business. We have kept our guest checkout procedures to a bare minimum - asking that guests start the dishwasher, clean up after their dogs, and lock up on their way out.

Come and enjoy the mountain fresh air !! Home is located in a great location, offering you to venture out or stay cozy, yet feel like you're in the middle of it all around you. Our 'Pad' includes all the comforts of home, including WiFi, 55" Samsung TV in the living room and 45" HD TV in the Pool/game room, both, Netflix, Hulu Live, Roku & more, TV in master bedroom w/ VHS and DVD player & Roku. Two bedrooms on the main level, Master w/ king size bed, Queen in the 2nd bedroom. Upper lofts; front loft has queen & twin, back loft has queen, full and twin. The kitchen is furnished with everything you will need to prepare meals - utensils, pots, pans, silverware, plates, cups, bowls, etc. There is also a french press, drip coffee maker, microwave, crockpot, and blender. Two bathrooms; one connected to master bedroom with 2 sinks, TUB and toilet, second main bathroom is downstairs with Shower, sink and toilet. We have A/C in the upstairs sleeping areas and in living room for those hot summer days! Our home has 2 bathrooms, master bathroom has 2 sinks, toilet and TUB only, the main bathroom has shower, sink and toilet. ( just making note as several guests overlooked, for bigger groups showers will need to be staggered.
The swimming pools are open from Memorial Day to just after Labor Day. If you would like to use the country club facilities please let us know at the time of your booking. Guest permission slips need to be completed 48 hours prior to use of the facilities. It is $10 per person per day to swim, and $20 per person per day to golf.
Guests may want to print out directions before traveling, as many cell phone providers such as Sprint and AT&T don't work here in Packwood due to the relaxing remote area.

Please drive careful when coming into Packwood, as there are many elk herds roaming amongst town.

- "Aaron shares a wonderful little gem in Packwood. We went up to ski and the location was perfect. Less than 30 minutes and your parked at White Pass ready to ski (that was with snowy/icy roads) Fire place was cozy and heated the place perfectly so don’t forget your firewood! the back patio with a the sauna and hot tub were a welcomed treat after skiing. Beds were comfy and plenty of sheets, blankets and pillows. Lots of towels and instructions for the hot tub. There was a washer and dryer, just bring some detergent. Plenty of heat, lots of games and a cool coffee table book that shows all the hard work he has put into the property. Communication was great, Aaron was out of the country, but his property manager was around for last minute questions. The internet worked great. He’s already working on replacing the TV (the color is fading a bit) and adding a couple more pans for the kitchen. Otherwise it has what you need for a great getaway! We can’t wait to go back."

"Mountain View " is a lovely one bedroom, one bath duplex located in downtown Packwood. You can sit by the campfire and enjoy the view of Mt Rainier. You will enjoy a full kitchen, fireplace, smart tv and accommodations for four. There is one bedroom with all four beds. This unit sleeps 2-4. You can easily walk to pizza, fresh roasted coffee, burgers, library, grocery and more.

Please be mindful of the fact that this property is a duplex. You are only renting unit #2. The other unit may be rented out as well. The campfire place in the back is a shared area between both rental units.

Fairway cabin is located across the street from High Valley Country Club and offers our guests two bedrooms with king size beds, a crib in the main bedroom with en suite bathroom and a roomy open concept kitchen and living room. Total guest sleeping for adults will be the two king beds and oversized chairs in the living room that fold out to two twin beds as well as two twin air mattresses in the closet. You will have access to a full size washer and dryer, central air conditioning, games and a wonderful retreat when you step onto the back porch. There you will find plenty of seating to enjoy the outdoor propane fireplace, television and inviting hot tub. The yard is fully fenced so you can bring your best four legged companion. High Valley Country Club offers an amazing 9 hole golf course and swimming pool that is open to guests of Fairway cabin for a daily fee for unlimited usage, please let us know in advance if you plan to use the golf course or pool.

Just off the back deck is the trail to the Cowlitz River. If you are lucky, you may see a herd of the famous Packwood elk. Great location, only 20 minutes from White Pass Ski Area for fabulous snow skiing/boarding or snowshoeing. In the summer,15 minutes to the entrance of Mt. Winters in Packwood may get very snowy. It is the guest's responsibility to be properly equipped for harsh winter driving conditions. We do our best to keep our cabins accessible, but winter traction tires and 4-wheel drive may still be required.

You’ll enter the U-shaped parking area and park near a covered and lighted picnic area. Hook up to water, electric, and septic service.

There’s a large fire pit, horseshoes, a porch swing and plenty of fresh mountain air.

Note: December 2024: the residence shown in photos has been removed, site leveled and gravel placed, creating significantly more space.

Other things to note
If you’ve ever wished for some space, privacy and a more natural setting when traveling with an RV or travel van, then you will appreciate this spot. It’s convenient to Mt Rainier and all that the area has to offer, yet you’ll feel like you’re in the forest.

You can hear nearby Butter Creek, while listening to pops of camp fire as you relax after a day of exploring. This is will a true getaway.

The space
We are just behind the fire station in Packwood, right next to the airport, and it's fun to watch planes and helicopters come and go. Elk are frequent visitors! All that town has to offer is just minutes away if you're walking, so go ahead and get sloshed at Packwood Brewing Co. and easily stumble back home and into the trailer. This trailer has recently received a fresh exterior paint job!
Hot and cold water on demand in the large sink. There is a solar panel that charges the battery that powers the lights. We have provided a single burner butane portable stove. Coffee press. Wine opener and glasses. No working outlets, but we have wired a car USB charger to charge phones and electronics. Tiny inside bathroom with a portable camping toilet that flushes into a holding tank.

We have some really huge old trees on our property, so it stays shady and cool most of the time. There is a USB-powered fan that you can hang from the ceiling for increased air circulation.

This is the original White Pass Ski Resort ticket booth, then lifty shack, and finally wax room, built in the 1950's, when White Pass first opened. It became somewhat run down and put out of service, but was rescued by a Packwoodian with vision. It was hauled down from White Pass on a flatbed truck, where it was given a new metal roof, insulation, rough-hewn cedar and corrugated metal interior walls. With log bunkbeds, rocking chairs, cozy blankets, it's a snug abode for skiers and hikers!

The space
This tiny, cozy historic White Pass ticket booth cabin is charming, and rustic-yet-comfortable. With warm bedding, comfortable rocking chairs, and a warm heater, you will be snug in Winter! In Summer, giant old fir trees provide all-day shade, and we provide fans. Amenities are limited, as there is no indoor bathroom, but you will have a handwashing/tooth-brushing sink, a large potable water jug with automatic dispenser, and there is a clean, regularly-serviced outhouse just steps away from the entrance. Outdoor hot shower in a lockable shower enclosure. There is a Jackery portable power station that powers the lights and will charge your phones and devices. The heater is an indoor-safe propane Mr. Heater connected to an outdoor propane tank. There is wi-fi, but the signal is weak, and we are working on improving this. There is a strong cell signal, as we are right in town. Our house is on this same property, and we have three vintage trailers that we also rent out. This cabin is set off by itself amongst towering old fir trees. Beautiful view of Mt. Rainier out the back windows, and we are also right by the airport, and you can enjoy the small planes that come and go.

This is Packwood at its finest! This exclusive RV parking spot is situated on an acre property! This property has plenty of room to relax and enjoy Butter Creek, just steps away!

The space
This RV spot is equipped with a 20, 30 and 50 amp receptacle, with full access to water and septic. You will also have access to free wi-fi. As there are NO bathroom facilities on the property, NO TENT camping is allowed.

This RV spot is located just minutes from town, where you can enjoy unique restaurants, breweries, and shopping. There are numerous year-round recreational activities including hiking, boating, biking, skiing, snowshoeing, hunting, and fishing. This location is just 30 minutes from White Pass Ski Area and 25 minutes from the Stevens Canyon Entrance to Mount Rainier National Park. Note: Be sure to check which entrances are open prior to your visit to Mount Rainier!

WINTER CAMPING REQUIREMENTS: If you are staying with us in the winter months and the temperatures drop below freezing, you are required to have with you a heated water supply hose. We are on a well and there will be no "dripping" of the water to prevent your hose from freezing.

We want “You” and each of our guests to be confident in knowing that all of us here at Nanook's Retreat are  attempting to do our part in helping our guests and cabin staff to stay as safe and as healthy as we possibly can!  The cabin staff has diligently been cleaning and disinfecting the cabin and cabin grounds.  If anyone on staff is either running a temperature or feeling sick, we do not come to the cabin, we stay home to avoid potentially getting each other sick as well as our guests! 
As Lewis County has now moved into phase 2, the cabin staff has been cleaning, disinfecting the cabin in preparations for reopening our accommodations for all of our guests.  For continued  success, Nanook's Retreatwill require the need for proactive cooperation of owners, hospitality staff and guests all working together in a joint effort to potentially prevent or slow the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019/SARS-Cov-2 (COVID-19) • We have developed the “Nanook's Retreat Slow The Spread” plan based off of available guidelines and data from the Center Of Disease Control (CDC), the State of Washington, Lewis County and their respective health Departments, S.T.V.R (short term vacation rental owner forums), Airbnb, VRBO, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Opening Up America Again; guidelines, protocols and advisements • We are able to implement and follow through with this plan for Nanook's Retreat (with all of our guest’s continued cooperation) • We all can successfully maintain the “Nanook's Retreat” plan together as our staff continuously searches for revisions’ to the plan through their daily experiences, your input and suggestions, CDC guideline/protocol suggestions or other updated information/data that is released concerning proper or effective cleaning/disinfecting.  As new advisements/techniques become available or suggested for the attempts to reduce the risk of exposure or spreading of the COVID-19 virus (as well as other viruses), we will be updating our guidelines and protocols for the cabin cleaning and disinfecting. 
Cleaning and disinfecting have been two of the most important parts of reopening the cabin safely for everyone. We encourage each of our guests to help slow the spread of the virus by supporting the practice and actively participating in social distancing and prevention hygiene; such as frequently washing your hands and to consider wearing face coverings if and whenever possible when you are out and about in the community. We ask each of our guests to take an active role in making sure our Packwood community remains as safe as possible.  The Packwood community is not only a very popular and growing tourist community; but it also is the permanent home to a very large retired/elderly part-time/full-time resident population. We thank you very much for your compassion and understanding for the resident’s and local community’s health and safety.
The virus that causes COVID-19 can be killed if you use the right products. EPA has compiled a list of disinfectant products that can be used against COVID-19, including ready-to-use sprays, concentrates, and wipes. Each product we use in our “Nanook's Retreat Slow The Spread” and around the cabin for disinfecting has been shown to be effective against viruses that are harder to kill than viruses like the one that causes COVID-19.  Our goal for the implementation of our plan is to create the safest atmosphere we can within and outside of the cabin.  Our cleaning and 2 step disinfection process begins with general cleaning using products with disinfectant properties and is followed up with a final disinfectant fogging process (using a plant based EPA list “N” disinfectant) after the majority of our cleaning staff has exited the cabin and prior to your arrival.
Nanook's Retreat is currently using EPA approved disinfecting EPA list “N” chemical cleaning products and then finalizing with a “plant based only” disinfectant fogging in our current cleaning/disinfecting protocol.  If you have any questions concerning the products being used, please refer to our “Cleaning and Disinfecting Products Used” page in the welcome book.
“Nanook's Retreat” staff and owners do not enter the cabin if they are sick, running a fever or have been in contact with someone who has been sick or is running a fever.  Owners and staff will practice self-isolation in their own home if they are sick, running a temperature or have been exposed to ANYONE that has been sick or running a temperature.  We here at Nanook's Retreat value the importance of your health as we value ours.  We kindly ask each of our guests to notify us immediately if you begin to either run a fever or become sick during your stay so that she can make any necessary decisions and provisions for our staff or incoming guests and their safety.  We will make arrangements at her earliest availability to be of assistance to you and/or your family if someone becomes ill; for you to have the ability to avoid having any further exposure in public if you desire.  We do have a few staff members and family members of staff that do have compromised immune systems and fall under the category of “Vulnerable individuals” and would greatly appreciate your cooperation in communicating with us any symptoms or illness exposure you may experience during your stay with us or after you departure so that we can be prepared for future incoming guests and staff member’s family members.

The cabin is best sized for 4 people but sleeps up to 7.

Outdoor Area-
The front deck has ample seating that can be used both on the porch and below at the wood fire pit- feel free to move the furniture between the areas. The propane fire pit on the deck is available for your use but you are responsible for providing the propane. Please feel free to use the gas grill as well, do not remove the propane from the gas grill to use for the propane fire pit. You may sit on the large deck storage bins as well but they are locked with items for hospitality inside them.

There is a trail through the backyard, feel free to check it out at any point. The wood in the wood rack on the porch is for tenant’s use, anything beyond that must be purchased. Matches and BBQ lighters are located in the cabinet located in the living area inside.

There is a leash holder at the top of the stairs with extra leashes and bags for guests use. There is also a bag dispenser should you just need extra baggies for your dog walk.

The front porch is amazing for lounging rain or shine with a decent amount covered by the eaves. The entire porch is enclosed as well making it an excellent area to relax by the propane pit without having to worry about managing your pets.

Indoor Area-
The off deck bedroom has a TV, an emulator video game system, coloring books and crayons, board games, deck of cards, dice, and a baby monitor.

Under the Double bed is the wire dog kennel, dog bed, and plastic tote containing dog supplies for those traveling with pets such as leashes, bags, dog bowls, extra flat sheets, and a poncho.

The main cabin kitchen comes with a stove top, microwave, toaster oven, instant pot with recipe book, coffeemaker, blender, mini-fridge, utensils, dishes, and various other items needed for cooking. Please use any items you find in the kitchen, they are for your convenience.

Cleaning supplies are also located in the kitchen cabinets should you need them. If you need to know if a specific item is supplied please do not hesitate to ask.

The bathroom has a stand up shower stall, full washer & dryer, sink, and toilet. Please leave the washing machine open after you are done using it. This helps prevent any mildew in a front loaded machine. There are a few toiletries provided should you forget any of your own. The first aid kit is under the bathroom sink. The broom and mop, should you need them, are located in the bathroom as well. As a reminder do not use bath towels for cleaning or for pets. There are towels in the dog supplies tub for dogs.

The main living area of the cabin has a TV with a smart DVD player with Netflix and Prime ability for guests to log into; a wood stove that can be used when a burn ban is not in place; a convertible couch that turns into a queen sized bed (Pull out the drawer under the two right side cushions, then pull the strap up to pull the cushion up until you have a bed, the bedding is under the lift-able chaise and the backrest cushions zip off for more space if needed), a recliner; TV trays for additional table space; a dining table; Bluetooth rechargeable speaker; and a coat/shoe rack with local maps inside of it.

In case of power outage there is a flashlight, matches, and additional candles and batteries located in the cabinet to the right of the couch. The cast iron pan may be used on the propane grill outside if cooking is required during a power outage.

The bedroom nook containing the queen bed has a storage closet storage and a hiking backpack for tenants use during their stay.

There is a nightlight/universal charger combo plugged in in both the main cabin and the additional bunkhouse bedroom for tenants use.

The only section of the property off limits is the under the home locked storage and locked bins on the deck. Please feel to explore all unlocked cabinets, underneath of beds, and the yard.

Other things to note
We are so glad to potentially be hosting you at Nanook's Retreat! We strive for all of our guests to have the best possible experience while visiting the cabin and the surrounding area of Packwood, White Pass/Mt. Rainier.

THINGS TO KNOW:
There is no oven in the cabin. There is a stovetop inside and on the gas grill, a microwave, instantpot, and a toaster oven for cooking. The provided fridge is a mini fridge, please be prepared to use a cooler if you require more space.
The main cabin has an AC unit in the bed nook, the detached bedroom does not have AC. We have a security camera mounted to the top of the stairs facing out. You'll be recorded as you come and go. If you're uncomfortable with this, please get in touch before your booking so that we can make an alternative arrangement.
We do not offer free stays in exchange for social media posts or photos. We appreciate your interest, but the volume of requests is overwhelming.
Check-in time is 4:00 PM. Check-out time is 11:00 AM. Please inquire 24 hours prior to your arrival for the availability of an early arrival or 24 hours prior to your departure for a later departure with our hospitality staff - contact information provided in our cabin welcome book (within the cabin and on your welcome letter that will be messaged to you prior to your arrival).
Tenant is expected to complete basic check-out procedures listed in the “Nanook's Retreat Welcome Book” located in the cabin upon your departure.
Nanook's Retreat does provide limited firewood (when available). If you wish to use the wood stove or burn a campfire and there is no wood on site, you can purchase bundles of wood at Blanton's Supermarket. If you wish to use the propane fire pit during a burn ban or on the porch please either bring propane(regular 5 gallon) or plan to refill the provided tank. A regular 5 gallon propane tank will last about one long evening of fire pit use, you may refill it at the Chevron or Mobil Stations for about $2.50/gallon. Please DO NOT cook anything other than marshmallows over the propane pit or throw trash in to it. Items that fall into the pit will not burn off and will stay inside it requiring it to either be cleaned or replaced.
There is RV Space and hookups available for use during your stay for an additional fee on the property. This must be requested and the fee paid 24 hours previous to your arrival.
Being located in High Valley Park’s HOA means that our guests have the option to use the High Valley Country Club’s outdoor pool or golf course. You must contact us 24 hours prior to wanting to use these facilities in order for permissions to be granted for you as our guest, no late requests can be honored. The fees which will be paid directly to the country club are $10/guest per day for the pool and $20/guest per day for the golf course.
Additional blankets are with each bed and the sofa bed extra bedding is under the chaise part of the sofa.

• We Clean Our Hands Often Within The Cabin

• We Wear Either Cleaned/Disinfected Reusable Gloves Or New
Disposable Gloves For Every Clean.

• Our Staff Uses Cloth Face Masks For Every Clean And Disinfecting
Regimen.

• We wash our hands often with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds.
Key times we clean hands:
o Immediately after removing gloves and after contact with another person
o After blowing one’s nose, coughing, or sneezing
o After using the restroom
o After cleaning one room and moving to another
o After doing one cleaning task and moving to another
o After touching any unlaundered items
o After the removal of any garbage bags from the cabin

• Hand Sanitizer: If soap and water are not readily available and hands are not visibly dirty, we do use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
However, if hands are visibly dirty, we always wash hands with soap and water.

• We avoid touching our eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

- Our Cabin Cleaning Protocol (NON porous surfaces) -
• We wear clean/disinfected reusable or disposable gloves for routine cleaning and disinfection every time.
• We clean surfaces using EPA approved and “N’ listed products, then use a “plant based only” disinfectant through a fogger for the entire cabin.
• We clean and disinfect with EPA approved and “N” listed products which reduces the number of germs, dirt and impurities on the surface. Disinfecting kills germs on surfaces.
• We routinely clean and then disinfect with a fogger high frequently touched surfaces within and outside of the cabin. High touch surfaces include:
o Tables, doorknobs, light switches, counter tops, handles, remotes, spice containers, most cupboard and refrigerator condiments, videos, VCR’s, DVD players, toilets, faucets, sinks, communal shampoos, conditioners, body washes, BBQ and lawn/deck furniture.

- Our Cabin Disinfecting Protocol -
• We disinfect with EPA approved and “N” listed products. Disinfecting kills
germs on surfaces.
• We use an EPA plant based “N” listed disinfectant in our fogging regimen.
• We follow instructions/directions on product labels to ensure safe and effective use of the products. When using our plant based disinfectant products/fogging we follow all safety requirements.
Many of the products we use recommend:
o Keeping surfaces wet for a period of time for proper disinfecting.
o We take precautions such as wearing gloves and making sure there is proper ventilation while using fogging disinfectant products by following safety requirements/advisement.
To ensure safe and effective use of all the products we utilize in our cleaning and disinfecting protocol here at Nanook's Retreat …..
• We ensure adequate ventilation when needed.
• Use no more than the amount recommended on the label.
• Avoid mixing chemical products
• We also regularly use a diluted household bleach solution and/or vinegar solution for the disinfecting process of the BBQ and frequently touched surfaces.
Unexpired household bleach is effective against coronaviruses when properly diluted. We follow manufacturer’s instructions for application and proper ventilation. We leave the solution on the surfaces for at least 1 minute. The bleach solution will be effective for disinfection for up to 24 hours.
• To make a bleach solution, mix:
• We use 5 tablespoons (1/3rd cup) bleach per gallon of room temperature water.
OR
• We use 4 teaspoons of bleach per quart of room temperature water.

- Our Cabin Cleaning Protocol For Soft Surfaces (porous surfaces)-
For the soft porous surfaces such as carpeted floors, rugs, throw rugs, shower curtains/liners, mattresses, mattress toppers, pillows, down comforters, feather bed coverings, curtains/drapes, couches, cloth covered chairs and any additional items that need disinfecting we will be utilizing a plant based fogging system in a fogger as it may not be feasible to launder these items.
• We clean the surfaces/items using EPA “N” list products or with cleaners appropriate for use on these surfaces.
• We launder items (if possible) according to the manufacturer’s instructions using the warmest appropriate water setting and dry items completely.
OR
• We disinfect with EPA-registered household disinfectant cleaners (which includes the plant based fogging disinfectant from the “N” list which meets the criteria for use against COVID-19.

- Electronics -
For electronics, such as tablets, touch screens, keyboards, and remote controls.

- Laundry -
For towels, linens, blankets, tablecloths, place mats and other items.
• We launder items according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Use the warmest appropriate water setting and dry items completely.

- When a guest has become sick while at the cabin and the surrounding area of Packwood with possible Covid-19 (symptoms) (either during or within 2 weeks after their stay) -
• We ask our guests to please notify our cabin manager Kristen if you show Covid-19 symptoms during your stay, after your departure and or are confirmed having Covid-19. Our hope is that we here at Nanook's Retreat can help in preventing the potential spread by taking any additional precautions or notifications (keeping your privacy) to our staff and any other guests that may have or may be exposed. We thank you for your cooperation and support in helping to slow the spread!

• Dedicated, lined trash can: If possible, dedicate a lined trash can for the person who is sick. Use disposable gloves when removing garbage bags and do not press down on interior garbage to tie the bag, and handling and disposing of trash. Wash hands afterwards.
• Keep separate bedroom and bathroom for a person who is sick (if possible).
• The person who is sick should stay separated from other people in the home (as much as possible).

• If you have a separate bedroom and bathroom: Wear disposable gloves and only clean the area around the person who is sick when needed, such as when the area is soiled. This will help limit your contact with the person who is sick.

• Caregivers can provide personal cleaning supplies to the person who is sick (if appropriate). Supplies include tissues, paper towels, cleaners, and EPA approved and “N” listed products. If they feel up to it, the person who is sick can clean their own space.

• If shared bathroom: The person who is sick should clean and disinfect after each use. If this is not possible, the caregiver should wait as long as possible before cleaning and disinfecting. Please refer to the CDC website for additional precautions for household members and caregivers for more information.

Log Cabin. Located one mile from Gifford Pinchot National Forest surrounded by trees, roaming Elk and beautiful mountain views. Peaceful, quiet and secure property. This beautifully renovated motel is in PACKWOOD (not Randle), right across the street from the new Longmire Springs Brewery! This historic property was recently restored, and is finally hosting guests again after closing its doors years ago! After a day on the mountain, you can relax in this trendy remodeled suite, or take a short walk to the breweries and shops in town!

The space
This suite has a bedroom with a king bed and separate living room with a futon bed! Note: futon bed is most comfortable for people under 5' 4". Air mattress provided upon request contingent on availability.

This suite has a carport and private exterior access with a coded door lock.

Other things to note
We now have Wi-Fi, and it has been working great! However, we're still new to Starlink, so we have provided other forms of entertainment in case of slow speeds or blackouts. There are DVD players, movies, puzzles, and board games! There is also cell service, so no matter what, you won’t be off-grid!

Packwood is very rural, and there's a large elk population that roams through the town! It's cool to watch them hang out! Please do not attempt to feed or pet the elk. There are many varieties of wildlife on the property, so stay at your own risk.

It is preferred that pets be kenneled if left unsupervised in the room, and we ask that pets do not climb up on furniture. If a linen gets soiled beyond repair, there is a charge of $50 per soiled duvet, and $20 per soiled sheet or towel.

Guests staying for more than 4 nights can request access to the coin-operated laundry facilities located on the property.

The space

This is a Tiny Home, so the space may seem smaller than a traditional cabin. There is a queen bed and additional relaxing area in the loft areas accessible by a ladder(s). Full bathroom with shower. All linens, bedding, and towels are provided. Kitchen is small, but has mini fridge with a freezer, microwave, toaster oven, Keurig coffee pot (and pods) and a range with 4 burners. The oven is smaller than standard oven but large enough to bake a regular size pizza. All Kitchen utensils and cookware are provided. Living room is small, but has sofa, TV, two bar stools, and an amazing view of the Tatoosh foothills and Cowlitz river.

As our guest, you will have full use of the Tiny home and the property within the privacy fenced boundary area. This will include direct access to the Cowlitz river and the locked shed for your garbage receptacle, outdoor games and additional outdoor furniture. (Access entry code is the same as the entry code for the tiny home).

Other things to note
This is a Tiny Home on the Cowlitz River. You are more than welcome to access the river at your own risk. Please be careful as rocks and other obstacles can be dangerous. The river levels fluctuate throughout the season. Lots of wildlife access this river, so please do be aware and respectful of the wildlife.

This is a very unique Tiny Home, so the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and main living area all may seem smaller than a traditional house or cabin.

Beautiful property at the confluence of the Cowlitz River & Butter Creek. 25 minutes from both Mt. Rainier National Park (Stevens Canyon Rd Entrance depending on weather/snow) & White Pass Ski Resort.

Surrounded by amazing hiking trails. Walk the short path on the property to the creek and river. Walk five minutes to a National Forest trail-head, relax at the river beach, or bring your pole and go fly-fishing.

Includes a NEMA 14-50 plug for EV charging.

The space
Note: The EV charger is shared with our cottage rental.

The cabin shares a driveway and is very close to our cottage rental, which may also be occupied during your stay. The rentals are separated by a fence in the front and back of the properties. Both rentals share the main trail to the river and creek in the back of the property.

Bedrooms and bathroom:
- The master bedroom is off the kitchen and has a queen bed, and a sliding door to the front deck.
- The second bedroom is on the opposite side of the house and includes a bunk bed (full size on bottom and twin on top). This room includes a LCD high definition TV.
- The third bedroom is also on the opposite side of the house and includes a folding sofa bed couch (full size). NOTE: we replaced the folding bed in August 2021 with a high quality spring mattress based on previous guests feedback and reviews. This room includes a 43" LCD high definition TV with Roku, and ability to stream online content.
- There is one bathroom with a shower.

Other areas:
- The main living room has a 43" LCD high definition TV with Roku and ability to stream online content.
- The kitchen includes a full size fridge, high-end newer dishwasher, microwave, oven/stove, pots, pans, utensils, coffeemaker (drip, with filters provided), and toaster. There is also gas grill on the deck.

Cable and Wifi:
Wave Broadband internet. Includes basic television channels with Roku on the 43" LCD TV in the main living area.

Guest access
The river and creek are at the back of the property. During summer months you can relax at the sandy beach, splash in the creek, or fly-fish! Note that the path to the river/creek has a portion that is a bit steep. Be sure to wear good shoes if you intend to walk all the way down to the river/creek.

We may be able to provide guests access to High Valley Country Club, which is only 1.5 miles away. The country club facilities includes a 9 hole golf course ($40 fee per guest), 3 heated swimming pools ($10 fee per guest per day, $20 on holidays), and a game room. Currently, the country club is only taking cash payments. Note that we can only grant 9 guests access to the facilities each day. If you would like access to the country club PLEASE INQUIRE PRIOR TO BOOKING, or we may not be able to guarantee access. We also can't provide access unless your booking is at least three days from arrival. The golf course is open year round. The swimming pools are open from approximately mid-June to Labor Day. By requesting access to the High Valley Country Club facilities you are giving the Airbnb host permission to share your phone number and your Airbnb secure messaging email address with High Valley Country Club. Note that High Valley Country Club requires a guest phone number and guest email address to gain access to the facilities.

Unfortunately, our cabin is not wheelchair accessible. (There are a small set of stairs to access the main cabin area).

Other things to note
All bedrooms have room darkening curtains.

Give yourself a chance to walk out back to the Cowlitz River and Butter Creek. At the back of the property there is an embankment (berm/dike) down to Butter Creek. This portion of path is a bit steep, and may be difficult to access. We recommend wearing walking/hiking shoes if you choose to walk down the embankment. We ask that parents and guardians remain vigilant with children at all times. The bank to the Cowlitz River is more steep than Butter Creek and we do not recommend walking directly down the embankment. In addition, the Cowlitz river is extremely fast moving (including in the summer), and we recommend keeping children at a safe distance.

Our property includes sandy beach areas near the river and creek.

There is a NEMA 14-50 plug for EV charging. You will need a converter specific to your EV. It can provide 9.6 kWh charging! Note: the EV charger is shared with our cottage rental.

Generally, cell service is good (and improving in Packwood). You can see a map of carriers by googling "FCC Mobile LTE Coverage Map". We do not provide a land-line on the premise.

There are no hills to access our driveway. However, if it has snowed recently it is easier to access the driveway using 4WD. Or, you may need to shovel the driveway--we have a shovel available. (We do not provide snow removal services). Please check weather conditions before you leave. (Online map apps are pretty accurate).

If you are visiting Mt. Rainier National Park please check road status reports, as the Stevens Canyon entrance is open seasonally, as well as Skate Creek Road, which is the "short cut" to the Nisqually Entrance. Both usually open up around Memorial Day and close around Veteran's Day (but please check roads before going).

We may be able to accommodate single night bookings on the weekends for last minute reservations. Please send us a message! However, the full cleaning fee will still apply. Three nights booking may be required on some holidays.

The full amount of the cleaning fee goes to our cleaners to pay for their services. We pay our cleaners a straight charge regardless of the number of nights. Unfortunately, the cleaning fee is non-negotiable. As a result, it's definitely more cost efficient if you stay multiple nights!
