Discover Li'l Finch. cozy romantic cabin surrounded by nature. We've blurred the lines between the indoors and oudoors with so much outdoor living space. Relax in the covered spa area which has a cedar steam sauna and hot tub. Prepare a gourmet meal in our well-stocked kitchen. Enjoy heated floors and our cozy, tiny woodstove. Charge up your electric car while you kick back and enjoy. Ideal for couples seeking a rustic and romantic getaway!
- "My partner and I decided we wanted to visit Mt Rainier National Park to celebrate 9 wonderful years of love, and the Lil' Finch cabin was SUCH an amazing part of an incredible weekend. Kent and Kari were very communicative and let us know about what potential needs we might have, from grocery shopping to firewood and where to buy rainier passes and what time to leave to avoid so much of the traffic into the park! The cabin itself was stunning and had so many amenities - a kitchen for us to cook our meals, a smart tv for any relaxation needs (we brought a computer and our HDMI cord to stream a series and it worked amazing!), a nice shower complete with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, a heated towel rack and heated floors throughout the first floor of the cabin, a grill, a fire table, a fire pit (though there was currently a burn ban on flames over 2 feet), a hammock to relax in, and of course the hot tub and sauna! The sauna also has a bucket with a spoon so that you can pour water over the stones to make it a steam room. We made sure to enjoy almost all of these (we had nothing to grill) and it really made our stay feel so glamorous and relaxing. The cabin is very close to the Nisqually entrance to MRNP and when leaving at 9 am on a Saturday it only took us about an hour to reach the Paradise visitor center, and only about 20 minutes in traffic waiting to enter the park! It's also about a half hour from Alder lake which has a lovely beach spot we enjoyed. 10/10!!!"

Great selection of DVDs for adults and kids, who also loved watching movies on the projector in the upstairs back room. The home was very clean and I couldn’t recommend this home enough. Very close to the park entrance and the owners have a binder with recommendations that we followed and didn’t regret it. Best home we’ve rented on any app. Stay here!!!"

- "This was such a beautiful property. It was my boyfriend's first visit to Washington and I couldn't have picked a better spot for us to stay! We got to see the deer in the mornings while we enjoyed coffee, relax in the hot tub and take in the beautiful scenery. Taimoor was a wonderful host, ready to address any needs we had. Lovely house to enjoy, unwind, and refresh. Look forward to our next stay!" - "The house was clean and comfortable, with many premium amenities including a jacuzzi, a bonfire area and an EV charger. We enjoyed the axe throwing game, the swinging chair and the smart TV. We were indeed visited by 7 deer in the morning as advertised:) Not sure why the place is listed as adult-only even though it features outdoor games and bunk beds in addition to the king bed but fortunately that wasn't enforced. The only thing we didn't love were some attempts to manipulate our rating (including a note with an overly lenient siggested rating scale etc). This place is legit gorgeous so these manipulative attempts are really not necessary. A $1500 deposit is a bit much too, esp for a one night stay. But if you can handle these nuances the place is really awesome."

Ashford is a rural mountain community, and the best way to explore is with your own vehicle. Public transportation is not available, and ride-share or taxi services are very limited.
From the cabin:
– Turn left on Kernahan Rd E to reach Hwy 706E. Right leads to the Mt. Rainier National Park entrance; left takes you toward Ashford and back to Elbe.
– Turn right on Kernahan Rd E to follow scenic Skate Creek Rd (closed in winter) for 23 miles to Packwood and Hwy 12.
★ Guest Guidelines – Making Your Stay Easy + Enjoyable ★
• Power Outages – Life in the mountains can come with the occasional outage. Flashlights are in every room. Heat, hot water, and cooking still work; hot tub, Wi-Fi, and wall heaters will pause until power returns.
• Pet Policy – While we love animals, Ridgeline Retreat is a pet-free home. ADA-trained service animals are welcome with prior notice and documentation.
• Smart TVs – Both Roku TVs are set to Guest Mode. Feel free to log in to your favorite apps — you’ll be automatically logged out at checkout.
• Septic Awareness – Please avoid stepping on the raised mound in the southeast corner of the yard. It’s part of our septic system and needs to stay healthy!
• Clean & Fresh – The cabin is professionally cleaned and sanitized before each stay. No smoking or pets are permitted inside the home.
• Firewood – You’re welcome to use any leftover firewood. Otherwise, local vendors have great bundles nearby. Please follow local burn ban guidance.
• Visitors – Only registered guests are permitted on the property. Infants count toward total occupancy.
• Hot Tub Safety – For your health, we recommend avoiding hot tub use if you are pregnant or have heart or circulatory concerns.
• Early/Late Check-In – We may be able to accommodate early check-in or late checkout with 24 hours’ notice ($50 each, if our schedule allows).
• Security Note – A single exterior camera monitors the driveway and front entry. There are no interior cameras.

- "Some friends and I were looking for a place to stay at for a long weekend before the 4th of July near Mt. Rainier National Park. Katie & Jake’s property fit everything we were looking for! There was plenty of space for all of us to spread out and have room, a great hot tub to relax in, and it was less than a 15 minute drive to the gates of Mt. Rainier National Park. Before and during the stay, I received excellent communication from Katie on what to expect and regular check ins throughout the stay to see if there was anything that was needed, or anything that could be done to help improve our experience. The property was stocked with anything you could ever need. S’mores supplies, they got it, spices for the tasty meals you’ll cook in their fully stocked kitchen, done, ziplock bags to bag your sandwiches up for an afternoon on the trails, they got that too. Seriously anything you could ever need, Katie and Jake thought of that. We had a great stay & I can’t recommend this property enough. "

We are located only 1/2 of a mile west of the little mountain village of Ashford. There are two small grocery stores; an exemplar Sports Store (with snow rental equipment); a Pottery Shoppe; two Espresso Shops (one with ice cream), as well as, several restaurants to enjoy. During late autumn, winter and early spring, there are three restaurants. There is the Copper Creek Restaurant about 4 miles east of us (rustically/elegant, wide selection of menu items, moderately-priced); the Paradise Village Restaurant about 2 miles east of us, with bakery items, crepes and Ukrainian/Western menu options; then, there is the National Park Restaurant, at Longmire (into the Park 6 miles, excellent, moderately-proved)...you may order beverages and even enjoy them on their wide, front porch overlooking the Mountain. Then, in the late spring, summer and early autumn, there are two other restaurants added to the above. There is the Wildberry, about 4 miles east of us, with Himalayan/Western meals and also the Basecamp Bar and Grill, about 1/ miles east of us, with gourmet salads, wraps, hamburgers, pizza, brews and wine. We are so fortunate to have this variety of restaurants, in a small area.
Also, we are located only six miles from the main entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park, where the road remains open 365 days a year...into the Park, there are the Longmire and Paradise areas (truly magical). You will quite likely have an amazing experience...please keep referring to our Welcome Notebook, in your Suite.

Stay on a working turn of the century farm in Ashford, six miles from the Nisqually Entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park! Once a dairy that provided milk to the adjacent mill town of National and the National Park guests, the farm had been a beef operation since the 1960's. It sat vacant for several years before our purchase. We have worked with regenerative farming practices to bring this farm operational once again. We reap the benefit of years of pasturing livestock, and now grow certified organic vegetables and berries; and take one cutting of hay a year off of the fields. We run a CSA, and supply produce to local restaurants and Food Hubs. We are also found at several local Farmers Markets, and have a Farm Store on location. The farm store is stocked with in season produce and offerings from other local farms and businesses. When in season, the vegetable and berry gardens are open for touring. Fields are always open for strolling.
The Suite is a 200 ft^2 studio with a queen bed, drop down dining/work table, two chairs, one sitting chair, a coffee bar with a microwave, refrigerator and tea/coffee maker and a 3/4 bath with a 4ft walk in shower.
Guest access
Guests have the privacy of their own self contained suite, and can walk the hay fields and vegetable/berry gardens. When in season, guests may harvest vegetables for a salad! The fire pit is open and located right behind the Suite.

The Kautz room is located in our guest house, which has two other cabin suites. Each room has it's own private entrance, and there is a double layer of heavy insulation in the walls to keep noise down to a minimum.

Fire up the gas fireplace and grab a good read off the bookshelf! There is a big selection of local guidebooks, nature books, and vintage treasures, so cozy up in front of the fire and nurture your inner bookworm!
Best of all, you can watch movies from bed on the huge 100" projector! The smart projector is stocked with all the major streaming apps, and we supply a complimentary subscription to both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video! Bring the popcorn and cozy up for an epic movie night!

The hot tub is shared with guests in our other rooms and is first come, first served; we just ask that guests limit their hot tub time to an hour or so other guests get a chance to relax too.
There is separate gazebo with gas grill and picnic table in our garden where you can grill up some post-hike burgers, and a hammock so you can relax in the sunshine!
Our property also backs right up to Ashford County Park, which features a small network of paved trails that meander through beautiful woods! "Darla" is an all-original 1955 travel trailer, tucked in a private camping spot on our beautiful property only 6 miles from Mt. Rainier National Park!
Featuring vintage decor, kitchenette, string lights, picnic table, gas fire pit, lounge chairs, hammock, separate bathroom trailer with hot shower, and access to the lodge hot tub!
Located at the edge of the town of Ashford and walking distance to restaurants and shops, this is the perfect base for all of your Mt. Rainier adventures!
The space
Darla is tucked in the back of our property that we call the "Ashford Lodge", an old bed and breakfast that we bought in early 2021 and have been fixing up to turn it into a fun mountain retreat!
You'll have a whole back section of our property to yourself. The trailer is secluded and surrounded by tall trees on three sides, with a large south-facing lawn out the front that lets in sunshine, and a gorgeous old-growth maple tree providing afternoon shade.
"Darla" was built in 1955, and she looks almost exactly like she did when she rolled off the assembly line! Head inside, and you'll instantly be transported back in time, with wood-paneled walls, cozy lighting, ice box, and vintage dinette.
The bed features warm flannel sheets and a down comforter with plaid duvet cover and 4 soft pillows. Note that the bed is only a bit larger than a twin, so it's a cozy fit for two average-sized adults, but that's part of the fun!
The kitchenette has everything you need to prepare simple meals. The sink has running potable water (cold only!), and we supply pots and pans to use for cooking. Note that the inside stove is currently out of order, but there is a two-burner outdoor camp stove on the picnic table. We of course also supply silverware, plates, bowls, glasses, and mugs. To get you going in the morning, there is fresh-ground coffee and a French Press coffee maker, with sugar, creamer and tea as well.
The kitchenette has an icebox for keeping food cool (it's not a fridge, it needs ice!) You can buy a block of ice from Ashford Grocery right across the street to keep your food cool; as the ice melts it will simply drain out the back. Just a heads up that the icebox is quite small, so if you want to keep a lot of food cool you may want to bring a separate cooler!
Outside the trailer, there is a sturdy picnic table for enjoying meals or card games surrounded by fresh air. You can also relax in the hammock hung between two spruce trees, and enjoy your morning coffee in the lounge chairs overlooking the lawn and maple tree!
There is also a propane fire table so you can stay cozy at night and get your s'mores fix! The propane fire allows you to have an outdoor fire even during (most) summer burn bans, and doesn't require firewood.
Behind the trailer is our custom-made glamping bathroom! Artfully created with reclaimed wood, windows, and rustic whimsical touches, it features a hot shower, flush toilet, and sink with hot water. We provide high-end Beekman 1802 bath products (shampoo, conditioner, and body wash), as well as all towels.
You will also have access to our property's hot tub, in a private setting in the garden behind our guest house! The hot tub is in a beautiful wooden gazebo for privacy, and features string lights on an adjustable dimmer. The hot tub is shared with our two other guest units and is "first-come-first-served"; we ask that guests limit their soaks to an hour to give everyone time to enjoy.
You can also use the gas BBQ and picnic table in our separate BBQ gazebo behind the guest house. Bring your own steaks or burgers and have yourself a cookout!
Or, if you'd rather someone else does the cooking for you, just walk right next door to BaseCamp Bar and Grill for burgers, pizzas, and a large craft beer selection. They close at 7, so get there early!
Our property backs right up to Ashford County park with its network of hiking trails (you might see the occasional person walking along the trail that goes behind the camper, but a row of cedar trees provides ample privacy). Find the gap in the trees and take a morning stroll along the trails yourself!
Note that our WiFi doesn't currently reach all the way out to the trailer, and cell service is limited on our property (T-Mobile works well, but others are a bit weak). If you need WiFi, feel free to come sit in the guest gazebo behind our guest house; we will provide WiFi login info upon check-in.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to send us a message!
Guest access
You can drive right up to the trailer and park; just head up our driveway to the left of the main yellow house; you will see Darla straight back up the driveway.
