About this space
Our little red caboose is located in the Columbia Gorge Scenic area, just 20 miles east of Portland, OR, and just a few miles east of Troutdale. It has its own bathroom with shower and a kitchenette, a queen bed in the main area & a double bed in the cupola. The caboose rests on 7+ acres, with a beautiful view, in a private park-like setting. There is lots to do in the area, hiking, biking, windsurfing, shopping and music and art events. There are also great restaurants and food carts in nearby Troutdale.
The space
A completely renovated, authentic railroad caboose, on a short piece of railroad track, resting on 7+ acres in the Columbia River Gorge, with a scenic view. The caboose has its own bathroom with shower and a kitchenette, a queen bed in the main area & a double bed in the cupola. There is a private deck off of the caboose, and a private picnic and campfire area next to the caboose.
Guest access
Complete and private use of the caboose, which has its own bathroom and kitchenette, as well as its own private picnicking and campfire space just outside of the caboose, and a private deck off of the back of the caboose. Cell phone reception is very good at our hill top location and there is also Wi Fi available. The TV has a fire-stick which can access Amazon Prime, etc and there are DVDs available in the caboose, including proclaimed top 10 train movies. Laundry facilities in the main house can be made available upon request and advance notice.
Other things to note
Sleeping in the cupola (2nd sleeping area) requires climbing up a ladder. The bed in the cupola is a 4' wide, 7' long, with 2 layers of 4" thick foam mattress. The caboose is often unavailable December through February, due to the winter weather conditions on the bluff where it is located.

The interior of the caboose is cozy and welcoming with a well-outfitted kitchen, bathroom, main bedroom, and sleeping loft. The train decor added a charming touch and the caboose is full of lots of extra special touches like that, such as a record player with a fun record collection and train-themed movies with a DVD player. The back deck and fire pit area both offer terrific places to eat, relax, and hangout. The property is absolutely beautiful with gorgeous views in an idyllic and peaceful country setting complete with farm fields, sunflowers, and grazing horses. Conveniently located just minutes away from the Sandy river, parks, and Troutdale, it was the perfect “home base” for us during our vacation. We would absolutely stay here again and plan on returning here in the future. Highly recommend!"

Beautiful brand new industrial style townhouse with sweeping views of the Columbia River and historic Troutdale. Located across the street from the Troutdale House, walking distance to outlet mall, one mile from Edgefield, three miles from the Riverview Restaurant, and only eight miles from Portland International Airport. 2 bedrooms, 2.5 baths and den. The location is perfect for trips to the Gorge, Skiing on Mt. Hood, taking in a concert at Edgefield or visiting Portland.

The townhouse was built in 2017 and has a lite airy and open floor plan with sweeping views of historic Troutdale and the Columbia River. It has been furnished with guests comfort in mind and to reflect the natural beauty of the Columbia River Gorge Area. The house is fully air conditioned and insulated to the high energy standards. Here is information about each room area within the townhouse: First Level: Living Room/Dining Room: One of my favorite places to relax. Expansive windows that frame a territorial view of Washington State and Historic Troutdale. Balcony to take in the views and get fresh air. Large 65" flat screen smart TV with access to SLING TV and Netflix, blue ray player and blue tooth soundbar. High speed internet. The dining room has a table that seats six and extra bar stools for counter seating. Kitchen is fully appointed with all the necessities of a luxury modern home. Half bath and Laundry Room: Full size washer and dryer. Iron, ironing board, first aid kit provided Second Level: Master Bedroom: Large open vaulted ceilings with windows and balcony that has sweeping views. The balcony is great for having a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine or beer in the evening. Queen size 12 inch memory foam mattress. I have this same mattress in my N. Portland BNB and it gets great reviews for comfort. Reading corner with 46" smart TV, blue ray player with access to Sling TV and Netflix. Master bath has two double sinks, stand up shower and and walk in closet. Shampoo, Conditioner and bath gel provided. Qtips, cotton balls and ear plugs also provided. Second Bedroom: Very quaint and cozy. Queen size 12 inch memory foam mattress. Beautiful reading lamps and your choice of light filtering shades or complete blackout. Den: The den is open to the hallway. Great place to relax and read a book. Doubles as a very comfortable sleeping area. Daybed has an eight inch memory foam twin mattress with a twin trundle. Combined it will sleep two adults easily. The den also has a combination light filtering or complete blackout shade. Shoji screen provided for privacy. Guest Bathroom: Bath/Shower Combination. Bright and clean. Shampoo, conditioner and bath gel provided. Note: Similar to most hotels. I utilize exterior security cameras to monitor the properties two entrances. I use this to assist me in managing the property, ensuring cleaning staff arrive and for overall security.

There are 2 outdoor porch decks that overlook the quaint Main Street that we used often to watch what was going on around town. The condo is on the next street over but has a clear view of the Main street and the mountains over on the Washington side of the river. We walked around that area to the restaurants and the shops often. The beach and river is right around the corner. The photo of it on VRBO is accurate and always had emergency personnel on hand as the current does get swift in spots. Troutdale is situated in an ideal area to get to Mount Hood, to all the waterfall areas, to Portland (about 25 minute drive), to Washington state, to the many wineries and to the coast (about 2.15 hour drive). We had a great stay at the condo and in the Portland area."

Historic Troutdale is a 12 minute walk. Restaurants, shops, bars, and just down the road from the Sandy River. You can bike to some amazing hiking areas in the gorge also.

Portland is 20-25 minutes away, by car.

The property is 15 minutes from the airport. Uber is available. There are also several bus stops within 100 yards

The beer keg is a special thing that when it’s refilled and running, but it’s not something that we advertise so therefore it’s not something that we refill on the regular. The owner who uses the home comes back quarterly and likes to surprise and delight, but it’s not something that we are able to keep up with at this time. Appreciate your understanding.

This home is located on a private drive right off of Historic Columbia River Hwy. You will see an "L" made of reflective tape on the tree at the entrance of the drive. Follow the driveway all the way to the end where the house sits. Park anywhere that there is pavement. A car is recommended for exploring the area and accessing nearby attractions. The property has ample parking for guests. Rideshare services may be limited, so plan accordingly if you don’t have a vehicle.

Your GPS will be your best bet to get you to the house located at 28536 Historic Columbia River Hwy, Troutdale OR. There is a large "L" on the tree at the entrance of the driveway to help you find it as you are coming down Historic Columbia River Hwy. If you are crossing the bridge on stark you will want to make a left and head north until you see the tree with the "L" on it.

- "Other than having an "Atmospheric River" as deemed by the weathermen for this evening @ Edgefield and non-stop rain at an outdoor event; it was a nice overnighter. We did not pick (even though it is listed in the description) up on the memory foam mattress pad being in the storage area until the morning after, and as such the pull out sofa was a little hard. Had we used the pad, as intended it would have been fine. Note: not the owners fault....Rental is nice- new, clean place, albeit very small, but it is a studio and advertised as such. about 3/4 mile from Edgefield main bldg., so walking is not too bad. Thanks! ."

Please stay indoors during this time, keep the windows and doors closed and keep the volume to an enjoyable but reasonable level. If it is loud enough to be heard outside in these conditions, it is too loud for you to remain our guest. This property includes a noise alert monitoring system in order to ensure that neighborhood noise levels are respected. Again, please realize we want every group to enjoy their time, laugh, have fun and make memories. These devices are only to ensure noise levels don't reach a threshold that bothers our neighbors. Our house is on 3 acres of land just 10 minutes outside of Portland. Our house was featured on HGTV's show "Beyond the Box" back in 2008 and in the Oregonian for some of our cool architectural features. We are located in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. Multnomah Falls and multiple other year-round falls are just minutes away. McMenamins Edgefield is close too. We have un-obstructed views of the countryside & you can see Mt Hood & Mt Jefferson from the property. HGTV link can be sent.

Our house boasts 3 inviting bedrooms, including 1 king bed, 1 queen bed and sofa bed in the attached silo, 1 double bed, and 1 more sofa bed in the downstairs silo. The property features amenities like a washer and dryer, stair fitness machine, pool table, WiFi, heating, hair dryer, and any necessity. With a beautiful and peaceful atmosphere, guests can unwind and relax in this phenomenal space or on our porch covered by Douglas Fir trees. We think our place will help you experience everything the Columbia Gorge, Portland and Troutdale haves to offer.

Our house boasts unique furniture that my husband Scott built. He built the kitchen cabinets out of reclaimed wood. Our our one of a kind flooring and other features were featured on the HGTV show. The silo addition is 24' diameter. The upstairs of the silo is the kids room equipped with a TV, gaming consoles, a queen bed and a queen sofa sleeper. The master bedroom has a king bed and a one of a kind sauna-like shower. Downstairs is a bedroom with a double bed. There is a double sofa sleeper in the downstairs silo with the step fitness machine. My husband also built a rotating hexagonal pool table that is in the living area! We have Comcast cable and wifi and hundreds of movies on hard drive.

Our 3 acres is a park like setting with 150' tall (6' diameter) Douglas Fir trees, fruit trees, fish pond, trampoline, picnic table, fire pit with lots of lounge chairs and outdoor dining table. You won't want to leave!

Troutdale is the last stop before you enter “The Gorge.” There is no shortage of hiking or water activities around the Sandy River minutes away from the studio. McMenamins Edgefield is across the street and easily walkable after an evening concert or a few drinks at the winery or brewery. Try the Sugarpine Drive-In, Edgefield Restaurants or Troutdale food carts if you’re hungry, plenty of options for food and fun in Troutdale.

The space
Although this is a small studio it has the essentials needed to make you comfortable. The private entrance through the backyard has a keypad lock on the door for easy entry. The couch pulls out to a queen bed with a comfy 3 inch memory foam mattress topper, and has storage underneath for the sheets and pillows when not in use. The kitchenette has an XL Ninja convectional oven and double induction cooktop with pots and pans. Included are all the utensils, dishes, spices and kitchen essentials your heart desires.

There is a full fridge in the garage which opens to the studio. If you need to store anything there is plenty of room in the garage which has a couch, video projector and coffee table. The location is perfect is you like to be outside, plenty of things to do on your days off.

Our community is very welcoming. The neighbors look out for each other, you will be safe here.

The space
Located in a brand new housing development, this one bedroom studio offers a clean and cozy space for a comfortable stay. The studio is on the first floor of a town home that is separately attached from the upper floors.

**This is a bottom unit of a two unit house. You may hear noise from the top unit like walking or an occasional dog. We kindly ask that all guests observe quiet hours. We provide a sound machine and ear plugs in case noise is able to be heard! **

The private entrance is through a completely fenced backyard. The studio is ~250 sqf and has a queen size bed, dedicated workspace, kitchenette (including mini-fridge, microwave, hot water kettle, and keurig), closet space for luggage, full bathroom, dresser for extra storage, and a large TV.

A dog bed, water bowl, and doggie bags can be made available upon request if booking with an animal.

Sandy River Glenn Otto Park is about a 20 minute walk through the beautiful street of Downtown Troutdale, or a 5 minute drive.

Treat yourself to the lower suite of our Sandy River home located just 2 miles from downtown Troutdale, OR. Our suite includes a sauna and an indoor tub. We live above the suite and we have an infant. There is a locked, sound absorbing accordian door installed on the stairwell for your privacy and security. Yet, you may still be able to hear us from time to time. We are located on a scenic highway which is the gateway to the Columbia river gorge. We are just 3 miles from Edgefield.

Cozy bedroom with views of the beautiful Sandy River. You will have private access to the sauna located in your suite. While there are stairs leading down to the river, the drop off to the first step is very steep and dangerous due to the new retaining wall we just built. We are working on a solution and in the meantime, enjoy our cozy outdoor seating area with river views!

The entire garden view suite is for you and you will have absolute privacy there. We may be seen in the backyard from time to time and you are welcome to this shared space including access to the river.

Beautiful brand new industrial style townhouse with sweeping views of the Columbia River and historic Troutdale. Located across the street from the Troutdale House, walking distance to outlet mall, one mile from Edgefield, three miles from the Riverview Restaurant, and only ten miles from Portland International Airport. 2 bedrooms, 2.5 baths and den (top of stairs). The location is perfect for trips to the Gorge, Skiing on Mt. Hood, taking in a concert at Edgefield or visiting Portland.

The townhouse was built in 2017 and has a lite airy and open floor plan with sweeping views of historic Troutdale and the Columbia River. It has been furnished with guests comfort in mind and to reflect the natural beauty of the Columbia River Gorge Area. The house is fully air conditioned and insulated to modern energy conservation standards.

First Level:

Living Room/Dining Room: One of my favorite places to relax. Expansive windows that frame a territorial view of Washington State and Historic Troutdale. Balcony to take in the views and get fresh air.

Large 65" flat screen smart TV with access to Hulu Live TV and Netflix, blue ray player and blue tooth soundbar. High speed (100mbs) internet.

The dining room has a table that seats six and extra bar stools for counter seating.

Kitchen is fully appointed with all the necessities of a luxury modern home.

Half bath and Laundry Room:
Full size washer and dryer. Iron, ironing board, first aid kit provided

Second Level:

Master Bedroom:
Large open vaulted ceilings with windows and balcony that has sweeping views. The balcony is great for having a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine or beer in the evening.

Queen size 12 inch memory foam mattress. I have this same mattress in my N. Portland BNB and it gets great reviews for comfort. Reading corner with 46" smart TV, blue ray player with access to Hulu TV Live and Netflix.

Master bath has two double sinks, stand up shower and and walk in closet. Shampoo, Conditioner and bath gel provided. Qtips, cotton balls and ear plugs also provided.

Second Bedroom:
Very quaint and cozy. Queen size 12 inch memory foam mattress. Beautiful reading lamps and your choice of light filtering shades or complete blackout.

Den: The den is open to the hallway. Great place to relax and read a book. Doubles as a very comfortable sleeping area. Daybed has an eight inch memory foam twin mattress with a twin trundle. Combined it will sleep two adults easily. The den also has a combination light filtering or complete blackout shade. Shoji screen provided for privacy.

Guest Bathroom:
Bath/Shower Combination. Bright and clean. Shampoo, conditioner and bath gel provided.

You have access to the entire living areas of the home. Note: If you are traveling with a larger group there is another short term rental located next to this unit. Depending on availability the two units could house up to 12 people.

Part of my success in being an experienced Airbnb operator is that I believe in transparency of describing the space you are booking. This is to insure you are fully aware of the uniqueness of the space so you can make an informed decision.

Check In Process:
As I mention I make the check in process simple. I have installed coded door locks that I can program from my phone. I will send you a special code a few days prior to check in. This way you don't need to mess around with a lock box and can give the code to other members of your party.

Train Noise:
Troutdale is a historic train town. There is a train museum so you must know that there are trains close by. Just note the Union Pacific rail line runs behind downtown. The town house is well insulated, but you can hear the trains especially at night. I find it charming and soothing, but everybody reacts differently to noise so you are the best judge whether this is the best location for you.

Exterior Security Cameras:
Similar to most hotels and other vacation rentals I have installed two cameras that monitor the exterior entry doors of the property. This is to help me manage the property when I am not on site (ensuring arrival of cleaning crews, assisting guests if they have issues with accessing the property or monitoring for security purposes when vacant). The cameras cannot see into any private space, but I think it is important to disclose it and to let you know what purpose they provide.

Pets: I know pets are an important part of the family. By default I have the pets allowed turned off but I allow them on a case by case basis. Let me know if you are traveling with a pet and we can discuss if the property would be appropriate for your pet companion.

Our house is on 3 acres of land just 10 minutes outside of Portland. Our house was featured on HGTV's show "Beyond the Box" back in 2008 and in the Oregonian for some of our cool architectural features. We are located in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. Multnomah Falls and multiple other falls are just minutes away. McMenamins Edgefield is close too. We have un-obstructed views of the countryside & you can see Mt Hood & Mt Jefferson from the property. HGTV link can be sent.

The space
My husband Scott built most of the furniture in the house as well as the kitchen cabinets and our one of a kind flooring and concrete countertops. We have a unique 24' diameter silo attached to the house. The upstairs of the silo is the kids room equipped with a TV, gaming consoles a queen bed and a queen sofa sleeper. The master bedroom has a king bed and a one of a kind sauna-like shower. Downstairs is a bedroom with a double bed. There is a double sofa sleeper in the downstairs silo. My husband also built a rotating hexaganol pool table that is in the living area! There is a fuse ball table in the downstairs silo room. We have Comcast cable and wifi and hundreds of movies on hard drive.

Heading into the backyard you will find an outdoor grill and patio seating which is always a hit whenever the weather allows. Another fantastic amenity is the garage that has been converted to a game room with a pool table for all to enjoy.


Ascending upstairs, you will find the three additional bedrooms. Two with queen beds and the other with two twin bunk beds allowing for a sleeping total of ten. This home is just a fantastic suburban home with that perfect blend of style and comfort making it an incredible option for anyone in the area. We truly want you to enjoy your time and make some wonderful memories with your group. That being said, this is not a party or gathering house for groups that can't control their noise levels. We have relationships with all of our neighbors who have our direct contact information. Quiet time is 10:00 pm to 8:00 am. Please stay indoors during this time, keep the windows and doors closed and keep the volume to an enjoyable but reasonable level. If it is loud enough to be heard outside in these conditions, it is too loud for you to remain our guest. This property includes a noise alert monitoring system in order to ensure that neighborhood noise levels are respected. Again, please realize we want every group to enjoy their time, laugh, have fun and make memories. These devices are only to ensure noise levels don't reach a threshold that bothers our neighbors. Also, please note there is no electronic video surveillance monitoring the interior of the house.


PET FRIENDLY: **There is a $100 pet fee per pet with a maximum of $300 (3 pets). Although we are pet-friendly please note your pet must not be left unattended at the house without you present, even if in a crate/kennel. Failure to adhere to the house rules as it pertains to pets may result in cancellation of the booking with no refund. **
