Tired of the usual motel room with noisy neighbors? Yamhill Valley Cottage is a 350 sq. ft. detached studio apartment with all the comforts of home. Not only does it include a kitchenette with sink, microwave, refrigerator, convection oven and double burner, but also dishes, silverware and cooking utensils. And there's a small eating area with bar stools and pendant lighting when restaurants become tiresome and soup and sandwiches sound just as tasty.
The living area is warm and inviting. Perfect for weary travelers to kick back and catch their breath before the next day's adventure. The American Leather sleeper sofa opens into a queen bed with a very comfortable mattress.
The cottage includes cable TV and WiFi because even though you may want to drop out of life for awhile, it's still nice to stay in touch with the outside world on your terms.
The bathroom has a shower stall complete with soap and towels to wash off the day's dust. There is also a stackable washer and dryer for longer stays when laundry is a necessity.
When weather permits, there is a nice deck and chairs to sit in to drink a glass of wine or cup of coffee and smell the fresh air of the Yamhill Valley. The studio is set back off the street for peace and privacy.
Yamhill Valley Cottage is a 10 minute walk through quaint neighborhoods to downtown McMinnville and the perfect rental for budget conscious travelers who still want to enjoy the comforts of home away from home.
Note: If you're planning to bring a dog(s), please message the host so a separate charge of $35 can be added to your bill. Absolutely NO CATS! So sorry!

It was key to be walking distance from restaurants, wine tasting and shops. The location was close to wineries and hiking, so you can't go wrong with the location. Two suggestions for the owner: -Hooks in the bathroom to hang towels -Some sort of dresser to unpack clothing. There are only 2 small nightstands and 6-7 hangars, which doesn't allow your guests to unpack their clothing."

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
Enjoy your time in McMinnville and most importantly have fun!
OVERVIEW:
McMinnville's Third Street is home to a number of tasting rooms, coffee shops, and award-winning restaurants just a short walk from Hideaway House. The charm of the tree lined streets in downtown McMinnville is part small town, part wine lovers paradise.
There are over 220 wineries and vineyards in and around McMinnville. So start early, but take your time because there is a good chance you won't get to each one on this stay. Shoot for 3-4 wineries in a day but don't be disappointed when you only make it to two. This means that you're enjoying yourself.
GETTING AROUND:
Have your walking shoes ready because you can get to everything you need on foot from Hideaway House. That includes tasting rooms, breweries, restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques and a local grocery store.
If you feel like driving or hiring a car service, you're in luck. You'll need weeks if not months to tour the wineries and vineyards in the Willamette Valley. You are welcome back anytime!
If you would rather let someone else do the driving, Uber and Lyft can be used. Though they aren't as readily available as they would be in bigger cities, with a little patience you'll still be able to get around.
- "They’re are a lot of good things I could say about this home, from the location being walking distance to restaurants to the home being updated - but nothing beats the back yard. They have apple trees, berrys, hydrangeas and soo much more. We all enjoyed spending time around the fire pit every morning. We enjoyed this home and will be back." - "Casey is a great communicator and has thought of every detail a visitor might need. The house is very well appointed from kitchen utensils, great bedding, bathroom essentials to little homey touches everywhere. The outdoor space is great with a covered seating area and a fire pit area in the middle of the yard which we took full advantage of each evening. Hideaway House has beautiful plants in the yard and if you are lucky fresh berries to pick for smoothies or yogurt parfaits. The neighborhood is quiet but it is a quick walk to all that is happening on Third St in McMinnville. As far as vineyards, we hit three everyday so the location was also perfect for exploring wine country! We really could not have been more happy with EVERYTHING about Hideaway House."

- "The house was everything we wanted it to be. Beautiful view from the backyard with that huge patio two bedrooms. " - "This rental is in a great location where you can get to Portland in a short timeframe or the beach in less than a couple of hours. " - "Enjoyed our stay. " - "This is a lovely daylight basement with a great view of a golf course. It's clean, spacious, and comfortable and has more TV channels than I've ever seen. The beds are nice, the bathroom is large (with white fluffy towels), and there's a ping pong table. Who doesn't love that? There's also a nice assortment of board games and a good dining room table to play them on. There are, however, a couple of drawbacks to be aware of: 1) As mentioned in previous reviews, there are no thermostat controls in the basement. We like to sleep cold (with lots of blankets), but the heating came on strong in the middle of the night and we had to throw off covers and open windows and even then, we were still sweating in the middle of winter. Even the comfortable beds couldn't make up for the discomfort of a hot room, unfortunately. (Although - that said - I still think we slept better having two separate, if warm, rooms than we would have in a single hotel room with temperature control.) It would be nice if there was some way to request a cooler night-time temperature when booking. 2) The property is on well water, which has a slightly sulfurous smell. There's a nice set-up in the corner with a bottled water system for drinking/cooking - but be sure to remember to get a glass of the drinking water before brushing your teeth and keep in mind that your morning shower will not smell particularly good. 3) There are lots of breakable knickknacks and decorative items around. Luckily our kids are old enough to know how to be careful so it wasn't a problem, but if you have younger kids, this is probably not a good fit for you. 4) The kitchen is somewhat cobbled together with a plug-in burner and a dorm fridge. It works okay, but it's not easy to cook an elaborate meal if you plan to eat in (which, luckily, we didn't do much of this time around). 5) There is no full-size couch - just one love-seat and some smaller chairs. This means that if someone isn't sleeping well and wants to move out to the couch in the middle of the night, there's not a comfortable place out there to lie down. There are a couple of chairs that recline, but you're still in kind of a V position. Again - not a big deal, but something to be aware of. Luckily, none of these drawbacks were a big deal for us and we would happily stay again and recommend it to others - just with those few caveats. "

- "Very clean property in a quiet neighborhood. We really enjoyed our stay. Dan took us wine tasting in his classic car, it was a great addition to our wine tasting weekend." - "We rented this for our trip to visit our daughter in McMinnville. It was perfect. It was so clean and comfortable. It was very easy to get back and forth to town too. We thank our hosts so much!" - "We loved the property and neighborhood. We met Dan and he is super nice. His place is clean and perfect for two. Our only issue was the bed and pillows were a bit uncomfortable. The bed is super hard and pillows just flat. But still okay and we would stay there for a weekend again. It’s close to downtown and there’s a great coffee shop down the street. We saw deer in the neighborhood and there’s a beautiful park."

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!
The bungalow is conveniently located in the 'Granary District | Winery Row' neighborhood of downtown McMinnville. It has a Walk Score of 92, which means it's a Walkers Paradise within steps of tasting rooms, coffee roasters, breweries, dining and entertainment.
Our stylish and classy bungalow is directly across the street from our very popular tiny house hotel, The Boutique Retreat. The bungalow faces Alpine Avenue, which is a pedestrian friendly street that was redeveloped by the City to promote festivals and community events. It is in a light industrial, arts & crafts district that has edible landscaping, garden boxes, murals and public art. Our neighbors include wine makers, brewers, bakers, coffee roasters, restaurants and entertainment venues.
McMinnville is considered the 'heart' of the Oregon Wine Country with over 17 tasting rooms and a beautiful, historic downtown that has been featured in numerous publications as one of the best wine country towns in the USA and one of the top places to visit in the world by Time Magazine (March 2023)! The Willamette Wine Country has over 700 wineries to explore so there are endless opportunities to plan an amazing and memorable wine country getaway.
With a Walk Score of 92 (a Walker's Paradise), our guests can have fun visiting wineries and when they get back to the bungalow, they can park the car and easily travel on foot to one of the many local tasting rooms, breweries or restaurants.
McMinnville embraces the arts and live music so you can often find musicians playing along the streets and in the tasting rooms or brew pubs. We affectionately refer to McMinnville as 'Disneyland for Adults'. It truly is a paradise for wine enthusiasts and the natural beauty of Oregon is unparalleled.
Located about an hour from Portland and an hour from the Oregon Coast, it is perfectly situated to plan and explore other outdoor adventures. There are so many excellent choices, the hardest decision to make is how much fun you can fit in to your vacation!
- "What a darling cottage- so clean and comfy. The furniture and decor were above and beyond! Very stylish. The two bedrooms and 1 1/2 bath were perfect for my friend and I. The beds were extremely comfortable- with nice linens. The location was perfect for a short walk to mainstreet and the many restaurants. One of the nicest VRBO properties that either of us have stayed! Thank you!" - "This house was beautiful, comfortable, very well appointed, and has a great location! The hosts were easy to communicate with and very accommodating. My sisters and I went for the weekend to celebrate a birthday and couldn’t have been happier with this house! Our favorite thing to do was to sit on the front porch on the cool mornings with the chiminea on and a cup of coffee in our hands. We would definitely stay here again!"

The manager (Lucetta) was also exceptionally responsive and hospitable, typically answering messages within an hour. When we reported an issue with the hot water pressure in our shower, and it was clear the problem could not be fixed before our departure, she did the right thing by moving us to an open unit in the same building and reducing our fee. Hosts can point to the best wineries, restaurants and attractions. No smoking. Has WiFi.
- "Beautiful place, peaceful and quiet. Property was listed while we were there. We chose to leave 10 days early because of the showings. We were refunded for the days we had left. The owners responded quickly to our questions and requests." - "Jennifer's place is lovely! I stayed here with my mom for 2 days for a getaway. The views are beautiful and relaxing and was close enough to town without the hustle and bustle. Jennifer wasn't there when we were so we were, but was very use to communicate with, responded quickly and let us enjoy the additional patios. The place was clean and comfortable, with private entrance and cute patio table. The only thing to note was that there was no door to separate the stairs from the basement to the upstairs, so if the owners were home I would imagine both parties would be able to hear each other. Would definitely stay again!"

Private downstairs suite of the house, on an acre lot that backups to a creek. Feels like the country, but walking distance to grocery stores. 1 mile to Linfield College and 2 miles to 3rd St (Downtown).
Queen sized low-profile Ikea bed, and private bathroom with European style corner shower. Wet bar with mini-fridge, microwave, tea kettle, coffee maker, tea/coffee available.
Convenient to Hwy 18 for the coast, and Hwy 99 to Corvallis. Guests from all backgrounds are welcome.
The space
House is located on a cul-de-sac with a long driveway. The private suite is the entire lower level of the house with its own entrance. The side deck takes you to the door. There are residents living upstairs.
The suite has wood flooring throughout, with a sitting area and bedroom, all one level. The bedroom has queen sized IKEA low profile bed with a 2 inch memory foam mattress topper, cupboard available for storage.
The sitting area has a couch and lounge chair and a large screen TV with Roku to access streaming services with your own account. The bathroom has a small corner European style shower with sliding curved doors and a small pedestal sink.
The small wet bar corner provides a mini-refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, tea kettle, glasses, dishes and silverware. There is a table and chairs for two.
A small private deck out front the entrance has a table and chairs for your use. The backyard is on the wild side, lots of trees and it's pretty!
The studio you are staying in is the entire ground floor or daylight basement of the house. There are people living upstairs so you may hear some movement or noise above you. If you are very sensitive to noise, please keep that in mind when you book. However, it is well insulated between floors and with over 100 guests I have had only one person complain about noise from upstairs.
As you face the house, the entrance is to the left. There is a "Welcome" sign pointing to the Left. Go through the gated trellis, and down the side deck to the entrance door with a keyless entry. You are welcome to check yourself in with a provided code. The path is well lighted.
My neighbor has dogs who will bark at you if they see you - I'm sorry about that, but they are not noisy otherwise. There is a cat in the house upstairs that you might hear meow on occasion.
Location is 1 mile from Linfield College, and about 2 miles to Downtown McMinnville's Third Street, filled with shops and great dining choices.
It's not suitable for children under 2 years old.
Other things to note
I am officially registered with the City of McMinnville as a B & B, and maximum allowed occupancy is 2 people. There are smoke and carbon monoxide detectors installed.

Guest access
SHARED SPACES:
Guests will have access to the open area of the second floor of the house where their room is also located: the bathroom, kitchen, dining and living room areas, and the outside deck off the dining area--unless the guest has indicated a need for social distancing.
If social-distancing is preferred, a guest will need to let us know so we can accommodate them and confine themselves to their room, the hallway, and the bathroom.
Regarding kitchen wares (pots & pans, utensils, plates, bowls, cups, etc...) and appliances, "Our home is your home." We only ask that you clean up after yourself and either return or replace things to where you found them, or put them in the dishwasher, etc.
We have a coffee maker and filters, but you will probably want to bring your own coffee. We are clueless about coffee making.

The other bedroom/guest room, the third floor, the basement/first floor, and the garden shed are private/non-access areas, off-limits to Airbnb guests.
During your stay
We enjoy socializing with our guests whenever our paths happen to meet, but we also try to be respectful if a guest comes for quiet, personal time.
