It is in a nice town too with nice atmosphere & stores. I hadn't planned on staying 20 minutes drive from Seneca but the prices in the other towns were simply outrageous. This is run by a family who obviously work on their property to keep it up. You have to make rsvtns thru an 800 number for the Relax Inn network which was unusual. I got a good nightly rate when they could have stiffed people since they were the only lodging for many miles in any direction. Decor was pleasant. Shower head was mounted way too low but for one night it was survivable ha ha. The air conditioner had problems -- a smell -- so I reported it and figured I'd be given another room. The father of the family came over while I went to dinner and fixed it himself at 9pm! I was impressed. I'd stay here again. It was quiet, clean, and nothing was broken. Cable and high speed internet in each room."

Beautiful lake front, boat dock, kayaks, near Clemson. This large family home sits on beautiful lake Hartwell. Lake Hartwell is famous for great fishing and many water sports. Just a short drive to Clemson University and many beautiful waterfalls. The house has seven bedrooms, five full baths and 2 half baths. Four of the bedrooms have their own private bath. Sleeps 16 very comfortably The house has two well stocked kitchens which allows for plenty of space to spread out. There is a two story gas fireplace, screened porch with lots of seating, large game room with pool table, ping-pong, etc. enjoy the water pad, 5 single kayaks and 2 junior kayaks, and 2 paddle boards, 3 person canoe.

Feel like you are in the trees, in an area that remains much as it was when inhabited by Cherokee Indians. The stream below Longnose Falls feeds into Lake Hartwell and can be a refreshing swimming spot in the summer months. Enjoy the peaceful sounds of the waterfall as you cozy by the fire to read or play games. On the weekends in warmer months and holidays you may see kayaks, jet skis, and small boats visit the falls. This property is in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The architecture is much like Frank Lloyd Wright. The house is a unique blend of angles and windows to give you a beautiful view from anywhere in the house. The bedrooms provide breathtaking views of the waterfall and the surrounding forest. You can even view the waterfall from the oversized walk in shower.
This house is perfect for a couple or 4 adults to unwind and unplug. This house is not ideal for younger kids as there are multiple steps leading down from the front door to the living area then again to the bathroom and bedrooms. We recommend using Google Maps or Apple Maps, Waze doesn't take you to the correct address.

A few house rules to note:
1) Please take your shoes off just after entering the house. This helps keep the place clean for everyone.
2) Unfortunately windows have been left open during rain storms and with air running, so the cranks have been removed from all windows to preserve the wooden interior of the home. Enjoy the house and outdoor feel without opening the windows. You can hear the waterfall even with the windows closed and there are 3 double doors facing the waterfall that lead to the deck that overlooks the falls.
3) Do not drive past the beginning of the 300 foot pathway that leads to the house. We have provided a rolling cart for your luggage and the pathway has lights, but if you plan to arrive after dark we do recommend having a flashlight for ease of unloading luggage.
4) The grill's charcoal is located in a plastic bin on the porch beside the grill and does not require lighter fluid. At the fireplace, there are fire starters. We've had guests use lighter fluid inside the house and this is dangerous, do NOT use lighter fluid inside the house. Thank you for your understanding.
5) This is a smoke free and pet-free home.
6) Burn only kiln-dried wood in the indoor fireplace- we provide one bundle of wood on the front porch.

This house feels like it was plopped next to a waterfall that normally would take you hours to get to. Feels like Pisgah. It’s f*ing amazing. You can setup chairs in the rapids above the falls next to the fire pit. There is a path down to the falls and it’s a great swimming hole. Going down there to swim is an absolute must. The owner warned of increased activity during a holiday weekend, and that was appreciated. It wasn’t terrible. Numerous groups came and went. It’s nature, it’s beautiful, it’s impossible to always have it to yourself! We stayed July 4th weekend, but came home on the 3rd. I’m sure the 3rd and 4th would be very busy. Overall? Fantastic. Perfect place for a couple nights. And remember to get up close to the base if the falls! You’ll regret it if you don’t."

The Farmhouse sleeps 6. It has one private bedroom with a comfy king-size bed. There are two single beds in the loft and a full-size pull-out sofa bed in the living room. We also provide a portable crib upon request. It has a full kitchen, full-size tub with shower, washer & dryer. A 26ft private covered porch with seating and a wooded view.

Enjoy a cup of locally roasted coffee or tea in the morning on your covered porch looking out into the woods, maybe spot a deer passing by or hear the distant sound of a train whistle and the breeze rustling through the trees.

After breakfast, grab one of our maps and head out to explore the several hiking trails, the 9-mile Palmetto mountain bike trail, waterfalls, lakes, antique shops, arts and, crafts fairs, or festivals. Maybe play a round of golf, go whitewater rafting or attend a Clemson game, all within a 10-30 minute drive. Snow tubing and skiing are about an hour away. There is always something to do here each season.

Oconee County boasts four lakes with 90,000 acres of water, two rivers, over 160 waterfalls, and endless park acreage to explore. Hiking, fishing, boating, diving, paddle boarding, and whitewater rafting are just a few of the activities you can enjoy.

In the evening you can savor a meal at a local restaurant, attend a play at one of our theaters, relax and enjoy live music at a street festival, craft beer pub, or wine bar. If you are too tired from your active day to go out, then you can head back to The Farmhouse and prepare dinner in the well-appointed kitchen or on the charcoal grill, pick vegetables from our seasonal garden for a fresh salad, pop a movie in the Blu-ray player, challenge someone to a board game, or build a fire in the fire ring, make some s’mores and sit back and relax.

Don’t forget about Travelers Gameroom and Brew Barn, located close to the cabins. This is a shared space where you will choose your breakfast supplies to take back to your cabin and prepare in the morning. See below for a complete list of amenities that the game room offers.

All linens, paper goods, travel-size shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and homemade soap are supplied.

There is Wi-Fi in each cabin and a 42” Roku smart TV with YouTube TV cable package that includes several local channels, shows, and movies. There is also a DVD/Blu-ray player and board games.

We believe in supporting our local economy by purchasing local products when suitable. Environmental sustainability is also important to us therefore several of our furnishings are handmade by local artisans or have been upcycled by us.

Each cabin has a full kitchen including a stove with oven, microwave, toaster, refrigerator with ice maker, dishwasher (with dish tabs), coffee maker, crock pot, cooking utensils, dishes, glasses, and silverware. We provide a blender upon request.

What makes us unique?

• Each cabin has a full-size kitchen with everything you need to prepare and serve a meal. There are frosted mugs and an ice maker in the freezer. There is a crockpot in each cabin and a blender to use upon request. Items that are stocked in your cabin include locally roasted coffee and local honey, tea, hot cocoa, creamer, butter,
cooking spray, cinnamon, sugar, jelly, salt/pepper, and sweet n low.

• Breakfast is included with your stay. Travelers Game Room and Brew Barn is a shared space close to the cabins. Here we stock your breakfast supplies. Normal choices are oatmeal, grits, pancake mix, frozen waffles, syrup, English muffins, eggs, sausage, biscuits, orange juice, and apple juice. When available we also stock fresh fruit, baked goods, pineapple juice, and cinnamon rolls. There is a Keurig with pods (coffee, tea, and cocoa), and a few take-and-go items like pop-tarts and granola bars.

• Travelers Game Room and Brew Barn is a shared space and is always open. It has an outdoor patio with seating and a firepit (shared), inside seating with books, board games, puzzles, PacMan, Foosball, AT games arcade legends with 300 games, vintage picnic baskets stocked with paper supplies (cups, plates, napkins, and eating utensils), several outdoor games, and a swing set for younger children under 110lbs.

Just 30 minutes from Clemson with private dock on deep, year-round water!

Walk up to the front door past the bistro set where you'll later enjoy a cup of coffee overlooking beautiful Lake Hartwell.

Inside on the main level you will find an open area combining a super comfortable sitting area with room for the whole family, and the dining area, with seating for six at the table, along with two bar stools at the breakfast bar. In the kitchen, you'll have everything you need, with a coffee pot, microwave, stove, and dishwasher. The side-by-side fridge makes ice quickly to keep your drinks cool on those hot days out at the lake.

But that's not what you came for, is it? Outside the sliders, you'll find a huge, screened-in porch with great views down to the LAKE. Two ceiling fans keep you cool when it's hot and there is plenty of seating for whatever you want to do, whether it be relaxing, eating, drinking, or even playing games. A three-burner Weber grill is just outside the porch to handle those tasty grill nights!

Back inside, you'll find stairs to a large loft that has a queen sleeper sofa and comfy chair, plus a game table, and a 43" TV. A couple ceiling fans make sure the temperature stays just right.

On the main level, down the hallway are the master bedroom with a king-size bed, and the McCoy bedroom with queen. Both bedrooms have their own bathroom - one with a tub and one with an easy-access shower. All bathrooms have towels, hair dryers, soap, shampoo, conditioner, and makeup removers.

Head downstairs to the HUGE rec room. There is a pool table and bar area on one side, with comfy furniture and a 60" TV on the other. Down the hallway here, you'll find a bathroom, the Cave (queen bedroom), the Bunker (two twin bunk beds), and the laundry room. In the hall closet, you will find a pack-and-play, booster seat, first aid kit, and some lake toys.

Back out to the rec room, you'll see two sliders giving you access to the covered patio, with another table and plenty of chairs for hanging out. You're also right above the firepit area, which is surrounded by hanging lights for the perfect ambience.

Travel down the mulch path to the floating dock with plenty of room to sit, swing, jump in the water, and park your boat. There are two tandem kayaks on the walkway, plus a single for kids or smaller adults - remember to wear your life vest; there are some in the dock box. There is room to park your boat in the slip with the lift, or on either side of the dock. The water is 15 feet deep at the end of the dock at full pool (660'), and the channel is a solid 25-27 feet all the way across. Bring your fishing rods - or borrow ours - and see what you can catch right off the dock.

You will also have access to the Foxwood Hills Clubhouse, which is only half a mile away. During the summer (Memorial Day to Labor Day), you can use the Olympic size pool, which was recently redone. There are also tennis/pickleball courts, a basketball court, and a nice playground for little ones. If you don't feel like cooking, stop in Thursdays through Saturdays for dinner at the restaurant.

While we are out in the country a bit, you do have a convenience store five minutes away (less than 2 miles) for anything you need in a pickle. Stop in and they'll tell you what you need to catch some good fish, and even sell you some bait.

There is a gas station, Dollar General, liquor store (closed Sundays), and pizza place less than 15 minutes away on SC-11. You're also about 20 minutes from Seneca and 30 from Clemson.

There are some fabulous hiking trails with waterfalls in the area - be sure to check out Stumphouse Tunnel and Yellow Branch Falls!

Boat Info:
We have a single slip dock with a swim platform. The slip has a lift, but you can also tie your boat up on either side of the dock. The closest boat ramp is the Chostoea Boat Ramp - 2.1 miles away by car and 3.4 miles by boat. There is plenty of room in the driveway/front yard to park your trailer. If you would like to rent a boat, we recommend Harbor Light Marina. It's 25 minutes away by car and takes about 30-40 minutes to boat back to the house.

All linens, paper goods, travel-size shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and homemade soap are supplied.

There is Wi-Fi in each cabin and a 42” Roku smart TV with YouTube TV cable package that includes several local channels, shows, and movies. There is also a DVD/Blu-ray player and board games.

We believe in supporting our local economy by purchasing local products when suitable. Environmental sustainability is also important to us therefore several of our furnishings are handmade by local artisans or have been upcycled by us.

Each cabin has a full kitchen including a stove with oven, microwave, toaster, refrigerator with ice maker, dishwasher (with dish tabs), coffee maker, crock pot, cooking utensils, dishes, glasses, and silverware. We provide a blender upon request.

What makes us unique?

• Each cabin has a full-size kitchen with everything you need to prepare and serve a meal. There are frosted mugs and an ice maker in the freezer. There is a crockpot in each cabin and a blender to use upon request. Items that are stocked in your cabin include locally roasted coffee and local honey, tea, hot cocoa, creamer, butter,
cooking spray, cinnamon, sugar, jelly, salt/pepper, and sweet n low.

• Breakfast is included with your stay. Travelers Game Room and Brew Barn is a shared space close to the cabins. Here we stock your breakfast supplies. Normal choices are oatmeal, grits, pancake mix, frozen waffles, syrup, English muffins, eggs, sausage, biscuits, orange juice, and apple juice. When available we also stock fresh fruit, baked goods, pineapple juice, and cinnamon rolls. There is a Keurig with pods (coffee, tea, and cocoa), and a few take-and-go items like pop-tarts and granola bars.

• Travelers Game Room and Brew Barn is a shared space and is always open. It has an outdoor patio with seating and a firepit (shared), inside seating with books, board games, puzzles, PacMan, Foosball, AT games arcade legends with 300 games, vintage picnic baskets stocked with paper supplies (cups, plates, napkins, and eating utensils), several outdoor games, and a swing set for younger children under 110lbs.

Our Guest cottage is located on a Historical Farm near Seneca and Westminster SC. The Farm includes an original log homestead cabin from the 1780's and the main house was built in the 1840's . The main house recently won the top award for a historical renovation in 2016. The guest cottage was completely renovated 2 years ago. All of the floors, walls and ceilings are antique heart pine. The kitchen was replaced with authentic Amish cabinets. The main bedroom is on main floor with a upper bedroom that can sleep 4+. The guest cabin is privately located with it's own driveway on a 38 acre farm. Enjoy the peaceful serenity and a star filled night (no lighting pollution to hurt view) Property includes a hiking trail to the wooded creek and fire pit. Experience glamping at our newly renovated camper on Lake Hartwell. This cozy retreat accommodates up to 5 guests, with a queen bed, a fold out futon and a queen air mattress (located in the porch storage bin). Enjoy a range of amenities including a screened in porch, bath house, laundry facility, pool, lounge, tennis and basketball courts, and scenic nature trails. A short ten minute drive provides access to the dock area, life jackets and basic fishing gear provided. Note: boat storage is not available at the RV nor dock area. Please consider storage/docking options if you plan to bring your boat.

The kitchen has a refrigerator, toaster oven, griddle, electric double burner, microwave, blender and a crock pot. There is also a rolling island cart that can be used for extra prep space or as a laptop work station. Outside there is a grill area and an additional refrigerator on the porch with a top freezer. In addition there is a playground, gym, foosball, ping pong, and a clubhouse bar & grill (limited days/hours). Note: these amenities are a 5-10 minute drive from the RV.

Get off the grid without going far. The river-side home offers ample yard space as well as a covered gathering area and porch over the river. The Chauga has great fishing as well as kayaking/tubing and many local adventures and dining experiences. Please be advised that cell service in limited or non-existent depending on your provider. There is also no Cable or satellite, but there is now high-speed WiFi.

Our Space

Vindstille Cottage Retreat, Our Nest, sits in the middle of a peninsula on the SC side of Lake Hartwell. Nature surrounds our serene Vindstille Cottage and now this beautiful carriage house retreat. We built Vindstille Cottage in 2006 as our personal vacation home and moved permanently here in 2016. In 2019 we completed the addition of this 900 square foot retreat for guests above an unattached garage so we could continue to have guests come and stay and take time to rest and relax away from the hurried life. Vindstille is a Norwegian word for calm or calm wind. This place brings a sense of calm and restfulness and a place to retreat and relax. Our retreat encourages low media time and more quiet relaxing. It is also in the resort community of Foxwood Hills, making fun activities easy to find. Many residents are retired and enjoy the slow pace this area provides. The resort amenities available to guests include a playground, tennis/volleyball/basketball court, a seasonal (summer only) Olympic size salt water outdoor pool. Pool guests will need prior authorization and host’s pool pass. The restaurant and bar are available for guests. Vindstille cottage has an array of fun seasonal activities. A fire pit is on the cottage grounds and guests can reserve a Fire Pit Nite and menu options ranging from weenie roast, S’more fun or a meal with all the above with our Cottage Chili. Hot cozy cocoa will be a new menu item available! Our Fire Pit Night has become very popular. Fire Pit Nites are free, but guests will need to purchase the menu items on our Cottage Cuisine Menu. Payments can be easily made through Venmo.
We have our retreat decorated for the seasons as well. We have it ready for fall fun from September to the end of October. Christmas is from early November till the end of December. A great place to celebrate the seasons and holidays, football games, apple picking, hikes and waterfalls, mountain towns.

The lake and the surrounding rural area can cause WiFi and cell phones to not have as strong of signals. However, we have upgraded our WiFi to the fastest satellite service we could find to make sure you have good WiFi access. We hope you can be as unattached to the fast pace world and instead enjoy some fun and relaxation!

Neighborhood Details

We are located off SC Highway 11 in Foxwood Hills Resort. We are nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains on the Lake Hartwell border of Georgia and SC and only a short drive to the NC Blue Ridge Mountains and towns.
Taccoa, Seneca, Clemson and the Duke power plant are in our area. Rural drives are part of life in this area, that’s why we love it. Twenty minute drives to town is part of the charm of rural lake living.

Getting Around the Area

Traveling by car will get you to many of the fun destinations nearby. Seneca is approximately 15 minutes away and Clemson is approximately 30 minutes away. We are close to I-85, so going to Anderson or Greenville or Commerce, GA Tanger outlets is within 30 minutes to an hour. Clayton and Dillard, GA and Highlands, NC are within an hours drive. Orchards, waterfalls, state parks are a short drive away.

A queen sized bed is on the first floor with a second bedroom with twin sized beds on the second floor. Each bedroom is supplied with beautiful bedding, blankets and pillows, lamps for reading, and antique armoires for hanging clothes. A daybed with trundle is in the upstairs loft for a 5th or 6th guest.

In the upstairs loft you'll find a ukulele and guitar for making music and a vintage turntable and collection of vinyl for listening to music. Cards, board games, books, and magazines are also in the loft for your use.

If you're looking for some alone time, try the porch swing on the lower, secluded porch.

For getting closer to nature, a stairway behind the cottage meanders through the woods to the small river overlook. A large wooden deck with built-in seating is located along the stairway for gathering with friends in the outdoors.

Includes access to the Foxwood Hills Clubhouse amenities. Olympic size outdoor pool and a game room featuring a pool table and ping pong table. There are many golf courses in this area including one in Foxwood Hills and nearby Chickasaw Point. Lots of hiking trails for the adventurous. It does not have a dock but you can access the lake through the woods from the backyard.

- "The property is extremely peaceful and we spent most of our time on the back deck which is screened in and very large. Management was easy to get a hold of and quick to respond with any needs that we had while staying here." - "House was overall clean and cute as a button but the beds were extremely uncomfortable, the couch was sinking in and the refrigerator was leaking. Absolutely no Wi-Fi which we knew when we went but couldn't enjoy a movie due to volume on TV was shot. The short walk to the lake was a schetchy walk through the woods. House was in a nice location otherwise but no real good veiws. We ended up leaving a day early to go home and sleep in our own bed. "

This location is so much more private than a typical RV park. With a provided pass key, there is access to an Olympic size saltwater swimming pool, tennis courts, pickle ball court, pavillion with picnic tables, grills and walking trails.
There is a restaurant and bar on site and a workout room. There is a boat launch onto Lake Hartwell nearby, and picnic areas on Lake Hartwell only minutes away.

▶ To avoid insects and mold, please keep all windows and doors closed. Leaving them open while the AC is on could result in a fee up to $500. For your comfort, we recommend setting the AC between 72-83°F.

▶ This cabin is privately owned and does not include maid service or daily cleanings. The cleaning fee covers a final cleaning (after your checkout).

▶ Unregistered guests are not permitted.

▶ Pets are not permitted on the property. A violation of this rule will result in a $200 fine.

▶ No parties. Significant noise or playing loud music after 9:00 pm will result in you being asked to leave without a refund for the remaining time of your reservation.

▶ Smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere on the property — this includes the interior of the home, as well as all outdoor areas such as the deck, porch, yard, driveway, and any territory associated with the property. If there is any evidence of smoking, a $250 penalty will apply, and your reservation will be terminated immediately without a refund for any unused nights.

▶ Check-in is at/after 4 pm and check-out time is no later than 11 am. Early check-in or late check-out is subject to availability. Late check-out without prior approval will result in a fee of $100 per hour for each hour after 11 am.

▶ During check-in, you will find towels, linens, shampoo, conditioner, soap, and toilet paper provided for your convenience. Please note that we do not provide additional supplies during your stay, so we recommend planning accordingly.

▶ Please note that moving the furniture in the cabin is not permitted. Violation of this rule can result in a penalty in the amount of $250.

▶ TRASH: The trash bin is located outside next to the hot water heater. Please make sure to seal all trash bags before placing them in the bin. Follow local collection guidelines for disposal timing.

▶ Do not flush paper towels, wipes, trash, or feminine products down the toilet. Please use the bins instead. If it is found that something has been flushed and clogged the septic system, you could be charged damages.

▶ Our properties are professionally cleaned and treated regularly for pests. Due to the local climate, occasional insects may enter the home despite our best efforts. Please let us know if you experience any issues, and we’ll address them immediately.
