Several times we spotted whales at sea, how exiting is that ! Our double bedroom was comfortable, cool and free of mosquitoes due to a good working ceiling fan. Directly accessible form the bedroom, a nice private bathroom with toilet and great shower. A well equipped kitchen is part of the villa. A prepaid 3G mobile WiFi is available to keep in touch with the world thru internet. We were driven from and to the airport by a friendly italian housekeeper, who provided his phone number in case of questions, wishes or problems. Also, the owner of the villa emailed us before and after our holiday to verify we were happy about our stay. Casa Lemon is a very special villa managed by very special people. Care and thought has been taken in every detail - from the outside terraces to the bedroom decoration. Maio is a magical island that amazingly seems still untouched by modern day tourism. We spent two weeks with a mix of lying by the pool and exploring the island - this island is for the adventurous though and those who like finding their own way. We personally took three flights to get there - as there is a weekly flight or boat from the main island Praia that takes 15minutes. Patricia was very helpful in giving us help on booking this though and so nothing was an issue. There was also a lovely housekeeper who looked after us and offered home cooked meals delivered to the terrace if requested. The villa was clean and inviting, there are some bugs at night so I would come prepared with mosquito spray :) you will have trouble finding it on the island - and I would say come prepared with essentials as the beauty of Maio is it is limited for tourist shops and big shopping centres! When we stayed the internet had some issues and we didn't find it to be 500mpbs but hopefully you go for a holiday and not to look at emails :). Patricia was very helpful also in trying to get it fixed. We also got confused in the listing that the pool was private just for casa lemon - but it is shared between another villa that Patricia hosts also. This also was not a problem though as the pool area is large enough to share and you won't be disappointed by the view ! Honestly this is a gem of a find, we feel very luck to have stayed and discovered also the magic of Maio. It is worth the journey and we will be back!"

This property is located end of row, forth row from the beachfront and is one of the more private villas.

Its other stand out feature is that it is on the largest, and most spacious of the three in a row Meliá Resorts. It is therefore not overlooked and has gets the sun all day ( as it’s South-facing...so moving to the beach is not necessary when wishing to work on achieving a sun tan ).

It faces towards the amazing Llana Resort and is among some the best located private villas.

Inside the large Melia Dunas complex, the villa is a minute from the amazing beach with sunbeds galore and the a la carte restaurants on site. Also the villa is south facing and you get sun from dawn to dusk with shade by the trees if you want it. The villa sunbeds have cushions and you can get clean beach towels every day from the hotel for a 20 Euro refundable deposit. There are 3 bathrooms in the villa, one for each bedroom and the kitchen has oven, hob, dishwasher, washing machine, coffee machine. The TV is on the hotel system and provides channels in English, German and Portuguese (possibly more). Pictures are accurate of the villa and show that it is value for the money paid. We shopped at the Cruz Supermarket in Santa Maria which is 5 minutes in a taxi (as is all of the town) and ate at the beach bars and across the town. The food in restaurants were excellent with lots of fresh caught fish, prawns and lobster. Meat dishes were good too. Taxi in or out of Santa Maria from/to Melia Dunas is 4 euro in the day and 5 at night."
