Casa da Figueira is a beautiful 3-bedroom traditional Portuguese villa with a large private pool (which can be heated), gorgeous mature tropical gardens, and an extensive fruit tree collection located 100 meters from the beach. Discrete housekeeping services, including extremely thorough cleaning between clients, are provided by Amelia during weekdays. She does not work weekends or Portuguese holidays. Amelia can also help with any assistance or questions you have during your stay. In the spring of 2024 Casa da Figueira switched to solar for electricity and water heating. As a result the pool is heated year round.

Casa da Figueira is the perfect vacation resort for a relaxing holiday. A fantastic location for a private honeymoon, a group of friends, or for a family get together. Two French doors open from the dining & living rooms to one of the covered terraces and walled-in private pool area which is only for you, your family or friends to enjoy. The pool is 1m deep on the shallow end and 2m 20cm on the deep end. It is over 10 meters long and 5.6 meters wide. The pool can be heated for an extra weekly fee. This might be needed in spring and fall. In the hot summer months the pool stays warm from the sunshine alone. Lazy pool chairs are available for your enjoyment. The front door opens to a covered terrace ideal for breakfast in the sun, connected to a large private courtyard where your children can play all kinds of ball sports. A winding pathway enters a lush enclosed tropical garden with a beautiful fountain and a collection of unique flowers, cacti, and as well as apple and pear trees. The orangerie is in the back of the house and has mature fruit trees such as lemons, mandarins, oranges and persimmon.

The fig tree, which has delicious ripe fruit in the summer, gave the house it's name: Casa Figueira. It stands in the middle of the large yard surrounded by palm trees and an olive tree. The yard is completely surrounded by a tall beautiful white wall with gates that can be locked. This makes it an ideal location to bring little children who'll have plenty of secure room to play.

The newly renovated kitchen with plenty of counter top space has everything you need to prepare delicious dinners and clean up afterwards. The kitchen opens to a third courtyard with build-in barbecue/fire pit and large dining table.

You are welcome to enjoy all the fruit when it is ripe. In addition we plant an annual herb garden with a wide variety of herbs that the clients are also welcome to use when cooking.

From the front courtyard a 70 meters private walkway brings the guests to a very quite cobblestone road. Walk this secure Parque da Praia narrow road for 250 meters (just a couple minutes) and you'll arrive at the lovely large sandy beach.

The living room is connected to the dining room and has a fireplace that you are welcome to use. There is a terras near the pool and the front door opens to another covered terrace where we love to have our breakfast and see the sun rise over the hill.

There are three bedrooms in Casa Figueira that can accommodate up to 8 people. The main bedroom has a king size bed, a large wardrobe and dresser as well as an antique desk. This bedroom connects into a beautifully renovated private bathroom with a large bathtub and Portuguese sink. A second large bedroom has a smaller double bed as well as a twin-size bed and a large build-in wardrobe. A third bedroom has three twin-size beds and a large build-in wardrobe. It also has a new private sink. This is an ideal room for a family with many children. In addition to the main bathroom which has a bathtub, there are two additional newly renovated bathrooms in the hallway, both with large showers.

Casa da Figueira’s majestic fig tree (which gave the villa its name) stands in the middle of the large yard surrounded by palm trees, an olive tree and many other tropical plants and cacti. A beautiful fountain made of river and beach stones makes this the ideal location for a relaxing afternoon.

The kitchen door opens to a third courtyard with a build-in open fire barbecue pit and a beautiful large table that can seat up to 10 people. Charcoal can be bought at the local Baptista grocery store. Behind the courtyard is the Orangerie with lemon, orange, clementine, persimmon and pear trees. The guests are welcome to enjoy the fruit when it is ripe. In the front of the house we have several large pots with a wide variety of herbs that you are also welcome to use when cooking.

On weekdays Amelia, our amazing housekeeper of over 25 years, provides exceptional daily housekeeping services. Towels are changed twice/week and linen once a week or when you ask. Amelia makes you feel welcome and immediately at home and can help you with your laundry. Amelia will be able to provide friendly help and assistance as needed. Feel free to leave her a tip if happy with her services.

The pool is cleaned and the yard is taken care of once/week by Tandy and his team. He normally comes on Thursday. So that day might be a good time to make an excursion.

Exclusive Privacy: Casa da Figueira will be only yours for the week: you will be the only tourists there when you rent it, no-one else is allowed on the secure property except with your permission. We do want to keep the property in exceptional condition year-round.

There are plenty of opportunities to dine in Praia da Luz. Our favorite restaurant is called Onda Luz Restaurant and is located right when you enter the village of Luz and walking distance from Casa da Figueira. It looks plain and simple from the outside, but the food is just delicious and the service great. Ask for cataplana. Near the beach in Praia da Luz, also walking distance, try out the renovated 16th century Fortaleza or try one of the many restaurants adjacent to Praia da Luz church or on the beautiful promenade.

The Algarve is a highly regarded year-round golfing destination, a true golfer’s paradise. There are over 25 fabulous golf courses in the Algarve with others under development. Several of them are close to Casa Figueira. The closest one is just up the road (5min drive) called BoaVista at the entrance of Luz.

The best way to get to Casa da Figueira in Luz is to fly to either Lisbon or Faro (airport in the Algarve). Lisbon is a 3 hour drive to Casa da Figueira and Faro is a 1 hour drive to Casa da Figueira. Both journeys are very scenic and on excellent highways. There is an express bus and a train connection between Lisbon or Faro and Lagos if you prefer. Once in Luz everything is walking distance: beach, shops (local grocery store delivers at home), restaurants, hiking.

Lagos is a historic town about a 10 min drive from Luz. Lagos is accessible from Praia da Luz with an easy 20 min Onda bus ride Linha 4. Lagos has a refreshing, relaxing charm with lots of cozy restaurants, many bars, live music, local art shops and an active marina. A daily fresh fish market, weekly vegetable market and monthly flee market provide unique charm to the city. In fact there are many flee markets where you can find great treasures in towns all across the Algarve. There are also plenty of opportunity to explore the area. Here are a few half or full-day trips that I recommend. Walking or biking west of Praia da Luz on the nature trail adjacent to the cliffs gets you to Burgau, a working fishing village, and Salema with a beautiful beach. You can also make the scenic 2.5 hour hike from Casa da Figueira to Lagos.

Another half day trip is driving West of Praia da Luz towards the “End of the World”. About 30 km past Praia da Luz you reach Sagres with its Fortaleza which School of Vasco da Gama from where the Portuguese discovered half the world. A couple miles past the Sagres Fortaleza is Cape St Vincent which is the most westerly tip of Europe, called the “End of the world”. The coastline running North from Cape St Vincent is undeveloped and wildly beautiful. It faces onto the open ocean with nothing but the Azores between here and the East Coast of the United States.

The Algarve also has many award winning wines. About 15 wineries are located within 1 hour drive from Casa da Figueira. Many of the wineries provide wine making tours and/or wine tasting opportunities. North of the Algarve is Aljentejo, a region with many internationally known wines.

Set on a small, quiet, complex just 10 minutes walk from Luz beach and its restaurants and bars. This stunning end of terrace villa with superb ocean views is perfectly equipped for all your needs.

Recently refurbished and newly furnished spacious villa has everything you need for a family holiday including a large private pool (which can be heated at an additional cost of £140 per week). Four large bedrooms sleeping 8 comfortably and 3 newly fitted bathrooms, 2 of which are ensuite. The balcony has recently (2019) been extended and glass balustrades added to maximise the sea views. The balcony has both gas and charcoal Weber BBQs. There is also a ping pong table outside for use of the guests.

The upper floor has a large open plan lounge and dining room with seating for 8. It has an internet TV system, wifi and a beautiful wood burning fire for the winter months. Two sets of sliding patio doors lead out onto a large balcony with sea views and steps down to the pool area (also accessible from the ground floor). Also on the first floor is a large, well equipped kitchen - including hob, oven, dishwasher, microwave and fridge freezer (new kitchen being installed for beginning of 2023) The washing machine is located on the ground floor in a small room by the pool.

The villa boasts a huge roof terrace with uninterrupted, panoramic sea views which can be enjoyed from a 10 seater sofa.

On the lower level are four large bedrooms with fitted wardrobes. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with bath and seperate shower. Bedroom 2 also has a double bed and ensuite bathroom with a large, modern walk in shower. Bedrooms 1 and 2 have their own direct access to the pool area.

Ponta da Gaivota is a pleasant 10 minute walk along the seafront to the centre of Luz. There are several bars and restaurants on the walk in before the main beach area. Praia da Luz is one of the Algarve's most stunning beaches with restaurants, bars and water sports. The unspoilt fishing village of Burgau is a 5 minute drive away with its excellent beach and restaurants. The bustling marina of Lagos with its lively nightlife is 10 minutes drive.

Vila Margarida is a luxury private villa rental in Praia da Luz on the lovely Algarve coast of Portugal. It is one of the best villas in the lovely small town resort, boasting great views, lovely private heated swimming pool and its own private hard surface tennis court set in a beautiful established garden of an acre which gives a high degree of privacy. All bookings except in lowest season (November-February inclusive) are Saturday-Saturday and for full weeks only so we can do 1, 2 or more weeks with Saturday start and end dates. In the winter period we can be more flexible about change over days and duration of stay although we do not accept bookings for less than 7 nights at any time of year.

Your booking is from 15.00 on your arrival day until 09.00 on departure day.
Vila Margarida is extremely popular and we usually have bookings running back to back with Saturday change-over throughout the season (March-November)
On the vast majority of occasionswe will need your whole party to leave Vila Margarida by 09.00 on the last day so that the maids have time to clean the villa ready for the next guests. Likewise on arrival day the maids will normally need until 15.00 to have Vila Margarida prepared for your arrival

Golf: The Algarve is well known as a golfers paradise and Vila Margarida makes a great base for a golfing holiday, whether all members of the group are playing or some go off to play whilst the others relax by the pool or play tennis.
There are many excellent courses within a 25 minute drive including Palmares, Penina, Parque da Floresta and the closest , Boavista is only 5 minutes drive from the villa.

Lagos: The beautiful town of Lagos, described by many as the loveliest town on the Algarve with its old Roman walls and narrow windy streets, is a short 10 minute drive away. It has many excellent beaches, a lovely marina and fishing port and great shopping and bars, restaurants and nightclubs. Many boat trips run from here including dolphin watching and grotto visits. There are also deep sea fishing excursions available. There are lots of lovely pavement cafes and also entertainers and craftsmen selling their wares. At night it has a wonderful atmosphere and the streets are packed with locals and tourists out for a stroll and watching the entertainers.

Other Nearby Attractions: As well as all that Praia da Luz has to offer there are many other nearby activities for those who hire a car or who travel around by taxi or public transport.
There are 2 water slide parks within a 25 minute drive, a marine wildlife park, a large modern shopping centre and a small zoo.
The West coast beaches are huge and really beautiful, with large breakers in most weathers. They are ideal for surfing and several have surf schools and board hire. The closest are about 20 minutes drive. Also to the West is the nautical town of Sagres with some lovely sea-food restaurants and the most South-Westerly point in Europe, Cape St Vincent with its high cliffs, fort and lighthouse..
The ancient Algarve capital of Silves is a 30 minute drive to the East and has a lovely old castle.

THE VILLA:
Casa Bonita, situated on a cliff top on the western Algarve coast, is a magnificent 4 bedroom luxury, fully air-conditioned villa which affords panoramic sea views. From all rooms in the villa is a breath-taking, uninterrupted view of the coast from the cliffs at Lagos to the picturesque fishing village of Burgau.

The house lies just metres from the coast with access to a clifftop walk which runs for many kilometres along the coastline, taking you from the house east to the beach at Luz within 20 min walk and to Burgau to the west in around 40 mins. Finished to an extremely high specification this property is privately owned and self-contained within the seafront development of Porto Dona Maria.
The villa has paved terraces running the length of the front to make the most of the stunning views with 2 of the upstairs bedrooms also having their own large balconies. The pool deck area enables guests to make the most of the magnificent views whilst soaking up the sun or enjoying the sunset over a glass of wine.

AROUND THE VILLA: On all sides of the villa are planted gardens with a shaded car port at the front of the house. This is accessed through remote control electric gates. There is ample further car parking for a number of cars at the front of the villa. Porto Dona Maria is a beautiful resort with reception and 24 hour security. It has been built with a strong environmental focus. Great care has been taken in ensuring that the villas blend into their natural environment with each of the villas being built using natural products, sourced locally where possible. Casa Bonita features handmade Portuguese tiles around the house and pool area, and local timbers in the floors, kitchen and storage. The planting within the gardens is sympathetic to the surrounding landscape and uses flora natural to the local area. The location of the resort within the Western Algarve Conservation area means that beautiful walks lead all directions from the villa, along the cliff tops and surrounding countryside.

GROUND FLOOR: On this level is the spacious, light and airy lounge with comfortable leather sofas and armchairs providing seating for 8 people. The lounge has a 32” screen television with satellite TV providing a range of UK & international channels, DVD player & a glass fronted wood burning stove.

Double width patio doors open onto a terrace overlooking the pool area with truly magnificent sea views. On this terrace guests can relax in the shade from the mid-day sun whilst enjoying the view or watching the kids play in the large 10m x 4m swimming pool.

The lounge is open plan to the dining room which features an impressive dining table with seating for 8 people. It has access to another outdoor shaded terrace with a further table seating 8 for alfresco dining. All of the outdoor terraces are lit to enable you to make the most of your time outdoors in the pleasant Algarve climate.

The hall leads to the fabulous modern well-equipped kitchen with large fridge/freezer, integrated microwave & oven, dishwasher and gas burner hob with built in cherry wood units providing excellent storage. The kitchen has all appliances you would expect including double toaster, coffee maker, kettle, crockery & cutlery for 16 guests and enough saucepans and ovenware to cater for meals for a large group. The kitchen has direct access through double patio doors to its own sheltered terrace and the BBQ area.

Each of the rooms is equipped with its own individually remote controlled air-conditioning units (extra charge), although the design of the house means that the rooms stay perfectly cool without the need for air-conditioning for most of the year.

FIRST FLOOR: The first floor comprises the four spacious bedrooms. Each of the bedrooms has its own luxury bathroom, with a further cloakroom on the ground floor, making the house perfect for large families or groups to share.

The magnificent master suite with king bed has its own private balcony with stunning views along the Algarve coast, perfect for enjoying a lazy breakfast in the beautiful Algarve sunshine. The large patio doors to the front & windows to the side ensure this view can be appreciated from both inside & out.

The master suite has its own walk in dressing room with plenty of storage space which leads to a luxury ensuite bathroom. The bathrooms are beautifully finished, each with a feature wall using local Portuguese hand-made ceramic tiles. The master features magnificent double sinks with marble surround, well-lit mirrors and a large walk-in 'rain' style shower cubicle. It also has a separate bath with overhead shower, toilet and bidet. Each of the bathrooms has a heated towel rail and towels are provided for our guests' use.

The second master bedroom has a king size bed, built in storage and an ensuite bathroom. It has views out to sea from its “Juliet” balcony & to the east along the coast towards Lagos. The bathroom includes a bath with overhead power shower, large sink with marble surround, well-lit mirror and toilet.

The third bedroom has twin beds and also has its own private balcony with seating to enjoy the same stunning views towards Lagos and out to sea. This bedroom also has built in storage and its own bathroom which comprises a large walk-in 'rain' style shower cubicle, sink with marble surround, well-lit mirror and toilet.

A few steps lead to the final spacious twin bedroom which also has built in storage and an ensuite comprising large walk-in 'rain' style shower, sink with marble surround, well-lit mirror and toilet. This bedroom has views towards the west and of the evening sunset.

All the bedrooms feature beautiful hardwood floors & are tastefully decorated with ample linens & towels.

OUTSIDE: Whilst the inside of the villa is beautifully presented with all the facilities you need to make the most of your holiday it's the outside that we think you'll fall in love with! The views from all the terraces, balcony & pool deck are stunning and take in a panorama from the cliffs at Lagos, along the coast to the beach at Luz, the clifftop walk in the Western Algarve Conservation Park and finally west towards Burgau.

There are 8 reclining sun loungers available at Casa Bonita, along with 4 small side tables meaning you can set yourself up for a day of sun and relaxation around the spacious pool deck. The pool itself then provides the perfect refreshing dip when the day heats up and at 10m x 4m is large enough for the most avid of swimmers to get in a few lengths before lunch on the dining terrace. We think the villa has a perfect combination of shady terraces to seek shelter from the mid-day sun and other open space for the whole group to enjoy the year round Algarve sunshine.

The sheltered dining terrace with table seating 8 enables you to enjoy the sunset over a glass of wine, while the lighting on each of the terraces means you can stay out in the balmy Algarve climate late into the evening.

Outside the kitchen, along the edge of the garden, is the barbeque area, housing a fantastic extra-large brick barbeque which means you can comfortably cater for all the party outdoors.

The upstairs balconies lead directly off the bedrooms and are each furnished with 2 comfortable wicker seats and side table. They get the sun from early in the morning and are perfect for breakfast with some freshly baked local bread and Portuguese produce from nearby Luz.

On all sides of the villa are planted gardens with a shaded car port at the front of the house. This is accessed through remote control electric gates. There is ample further car parking for a number of cars at the front of the villa.

RESORT FACILITIES: Rental of Casa Bonita gives guests access to the many other facilities on the resort should you wish to use them, however most of our guests tell us they find they have everything they need in our own private villa!
Onsite resort facilities include a large communal salt-water swimming pool and separate children’s pool; the poolside 'Cabana do Pescador' (Fisherman's Hut) which serves drinks, light meals and a variety of dishes, both inside the cafe and on the outside terraces every day (opening hours vary with the season and it is normally closed in Winter); “L’Escargot” restaurant, featuring traditional Algarve dining with fresh local fish dishes as well as other tasty meat dishes, beautifully prepared starters and desserts.
The resort also has a small driving range and putting green for extra practice before the course.

Nearby in Luz, the local supermarket Baptista is great, offering a fantastic selection of fresh fish, meat, breads and cakes. It has some lovely restaurants including our favourites Forta Eleza (Sunday jazz lunch), The Dolphin and Pastelaria Chicca.

The city of Lagos is 10 min of car, or bus which passes at the foot of the domain. Lagos is a charming historic city surrounded with ramparts, which presents a picturesque city center. You find all the businesses (big market of Lagos every day), shops, bars, restaurants, night animation, and the big marina.
Except the beautiful beach of Luz, you find near other beaches so magnificent : Ponta da Piedade and his caves, Dona Ana, Meïa Praïa, Porto doh Mb ...

Casa Palma is for the rent recently. The outside of the villa was totally renovated recently. All the rooms were fitted out carefully, and many of the furniture is new. Outside, all the furniture (garden tables, chairs sunbathing, garden furniture on the roof brings down) is new.
