Delightful villa in the Eastern Algarve set in it's own garden, with private salt water pool (no chlorine in the water), just a few minutes' walk from the beach and the village of Cabanas. Six splendid golf courses are also just a few kilometres away .

In the village of Cabanas you can find excellent restaurants, cafes, bars, supermarkets and all you might need.

The villa is fully equipped and very comfortable. The ground floor comprises a large living-dining room which leads via two large patio doors to two large terraces one of which overlooks the private swimming pool set in a lawn garden with a BBQ. The terraces have sofas and dining furniture, perfect for al fresco dining on the warm Algarve evenings. Also on the ground floor there are two large twin bedrooms, one bathroom and a completely equipped kitchen.

Cabanas' island is the smallest of the islands within the Ria Formosa Natural Park. It is 70 meters wide and 7 km long (variable figures). Situated in the unspoilt, idyllic countryside of the Eastern Algarve, Vila Laurinha is approximately 30km east of Faro and only a 7 minute drive from the historic and picturesque market town of Tavira. The Spanish border is a mere 20km away. The villa is served by the local characterful village of Santo Estevao, with a shop, cafe, restaurant and all important ATM and Pharmacy. Beaches, golf courses and water parks are all within easy reach by car, as is Faro airport 25 minutes away. There are some wonderful walks and picnic spots to the north with incredible views of the countryside and ocean. The town of Tavira has a distinctly Venetian flavour and lies within the unspoilt countryside of the Eastern Algarve. There a variety of reasonably priced restaurants and bars serving both traditional Portuguese and international fare to suit all tastes and pockets. The daily fish and general market serves as its epicentre with the old Roman bridge dating back to the Roman occupation. The town developed by the Arab occupation and was conquered by the Portuguese in 1242. By the 16th century, Tavira served as a major port in the Algarve. The villa boasts fantastic accommodation and amenities, including a large heated private swimming pool (heating at request and additional cost). A stunning patio with 2 pergolas providing respite from the sun and quality loungers for the sun worshippers among us. A beautifully equipped kitchen, benefits from all needed appliances and gadgets including juicer and coffee machine. All 4 bedrooms have modern air-conditioning and en-suite bathrooms with walk in showers. The main living area is equipped with comfortable seating and a Samsung 50” smart tv. Everything possible has been done to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

- "It was a very nice week on a very quite place. Property is great. Good areas, great barbecue and a very nice pool and pool area. We'll be back for sure." - "Lovely spacious villa, with four good sized bedrooms, 3 of which have large double beds, the fourth room has 2 single beds. All rooms had aircon, lovely en-suite bathrooms, shutters on the windows (which helped keep the rooms cool) and plenty of storage. Well equipped kitchen, large fridge freezer with an ice maker and drinking water, good quality bed linen and plenty of towels, including pool/beach towels. The patio area is lovely (but in need of a little attention) with plenty of pool chairs, loungers, bbq area etc. Although some loungers were looking a little tired and two were broken, we advised our contact and it was sorted out almost immediately and a new larger parasol was provided, which was very much appreciated. Not the owners fault but there are a lot of dogs around who think they are cockerel’s, as they did like barking together, in unison, at dawn. Although it’s a rural location, it’s close to the motorway, so you did get a bit of traffic noise, it didn’t bother us that much. Tiny tip - Take plenty of mosquito repellent and close windows before the sun goes down. Our contact (Paula) was extremely helpful and the welcome pack of breads, cheese and meats etc, after a long day of travelling and late evening arrival was amazing and really appreciated. To discover the nature or the surroundings, a nice walk to a lovely church, Senhora da Saude, or it is great to walk along Rio Gilão ( or Sequa) if you are a good walker you can discover the unspoiled countryside where you will find small waterfalls and ponds. The local flora its abundant with majestic and sometimes many centuries old such trees as carob or olive trees . Almond trees- they look dry , during the Summer, to blossom with delicate white flowers between January and end of March - or with the very vibrant colors of the orange trees and bougainvilleas everywhere. Enjoy a holiday with comfort and the feel of perfect luxury at this Villa at about 5 /10 minutes drive to Tavira. or 35 minutes to Faro airport, 1,30 h to Seville, 2 hours to Lisbon .

The 6.5mtr x 4mtr Swimming Pool was specially designed and located to provide maximum viewing pleasure when both entering the property and or using the lounge. The pool has a traditional Shallow End and Deep end design. Gentle steps lead down into the water in the corner of the " shallow end "(just 0.9mtrs deep), adjacent to the outdoor shower area. The shallow end being 0.9mtrs with a gentle slope down to the deep end at 1.75 mtrs deep). The Pool and surrounding sun terrace also benefits from being in full sun all day long.

There is ample, outside furniture and sun loungers to ensure guests can fully relax, wind down & really enjoy their stay. The property also benefits from a Music Centre (CD and Radio) . There is a good assortment CD’s to suit all age groups, a selection of Board Games, as well as a small library of popular best seller books and a DVD library to suit all age groups are available for your additional pleasure and entertainment. Both English, Portuguese and international TV stations are available, 50 inch HD TV and DVD players are in place in the lounge complete with NETFLIX. First Aid Kits, basic medicines and Safety Equipment is on site and available for your added safety. The Villa is fully equipped with everything to make your holiday very comfortable and as enjoyable and stress free as possible. In order to get your holiday experience off to a good start, a supply of fresh tea, coffee, and the basic condiments are provided, as is washing up liquid, hand wash, dish washer tablets, washing powder and loo rolls etc. Likewise BBQ fuel and lighters, All we would ask is that you replenish accordingly as is necessary.

Cleaning / Towels / Linen : The property will be cleaned and prepared for your arrival. Freshly laundered Egyptian cotton bed linen and towels are provided and changed weekly. Pool / Beach towels are also provided.

The Algarve region

Tavira area is one of the nicest laid back places to visit. 5 km south of Sto Estevao it is very easy to lose track of time strolling down the charming cobblestone streets with it's many restaurants, shops, bars and terraces to enjoy a refreshment in the sun. . The old palace is nearby and the beach of Ilha de Tavira is within a short boat ride. The nearest beach is Barrill in Santa Lucia, opposite Pedras del Rei, centrally located in the Ria Formosa Natural Reserve park.

The garden is on 2 levels with lawns and an array of flowers, almond, carob and olive trees. Pick your own fruit from the orchard including oranges, lemons, peaches, pomegranates and more depending on the time of year of your stay.

You are spoiled for choice in Tavira and Santa Luzia with ample restaurants and bars, whilst maintaining a quaint non commercial feel. Porch preto is a typical dish from the Alentejo region where the black pig is fed acorns to give a distinctive flavour. There is a wide choice of Portuguese wines to choose from too.

On the beach at Barrill you'll find a self service restaurant, hamburger house, pizzeria/creperia, bar, boutique and handicraft shop. If you don't like overcrowded beaches then these are the right beaches for you, especially Barrill with its 14km stretch of fine white sand and sand dunes. Walk 500 metres and you will find your own stretch of beach.

Other places to visit include the town of Faro if you want to browse the shops or local restaurants and bars or sit and watch the yachts on the marina.

Manta Rota beach, Praia Verde and Cabanas are just a short car ride away as is Castro Marim with its two castles. Tavira is only 40 minute drive from the Spanish border.

Sto Estavao is a small village with a quaint little church, a bar, a restaurant, pharmacy and supermarkets. It's very laid back and has several local festivals throughout the year. Surrounded by orange groves it is quiet and peaceful spoilt only by the sound of the crickets and many birds that frequent the countryside. We also have our own resident rabbits.

The tenants' information pack in the living room includes useful phone numbers, guidance for use of the appliances, TV etc, details of local supermarkets, restaurants and cafes, places of interest. A mid-stay clean is provided for rentals of more than 7 days.

Angie is contactable 24 hours a day and will act as an English/Portuguese contact in the event of an emergency. She will respond to all enquiries re the property and appliances, arrange car hire/taxi if required and can organise golf (with preferential discount) at local courses. She will check you out on departure, collect the keys and refund your security deposit. Check out is at 1200 unless otherwise arranged.

Car Hire: Most of the usual car-hire companies are represented at Faro Airport. However, for best rates, we favour a small local company called Algarve Rent a Car based in Almancil. Their representative will meet you at Faro Airport and your car will be waiting in the car park just across the road from the Terminal. When booking, please be sure to use the correct web address because there are others with very similar names! For preferential rates, remember to tell Alexandre Santos that your booking has come through the Villa owner, Roger Price, in Tavira. If you need to top up the fuel tank on departure, there is a convenient filling station on the roundabout just as you enter the Airport.

Please note that since Jan 2015, all Rental Properties in Portugal must comply with approved Safety and Fire Regulations and to display an identification plate next to the front entrance. This property is registered with Tavira Municipal Council under Licence no 7686/AL.

Having kids but no car we ended up taking taxi a lot of the time which we had not planned to. There was no food store easily accessible either, so you would need a taxi for that as well. 45 minutes from the airport, Casa Lia is set in the unspoiled hills of the Forest of Conceicao, with beautiful views of the countryside and the sea. 15 minutes' drive from the pretty town of Tavira with its cobbled streets and excellent restaurants. We have a choice of excellent beaches such as Manta Rota, Ilha de Tavira, Cabanas just 15 minutes away. Children's attractions like Aqua Show and Zoo Marine are a car ride away. The kitchen is large and well equipped and open plan with the lounge which is very comfortable with three large sofas, satellite TV DVD player, stereo. Separate utility room houses a second fridge freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine. Interior of villa measures 209 square metres.

- "Casa Lia was clean and really well-equipped with absolutely everything we needed. The outdoor space was perfect with a table in a shaded area and a pool perfect for cooling off. It was really windy while we were there - particularly at night so if you are a light sleeper ear plugs might be handy. The communication with Debbie, the owner was great and Jimmy and Fatima were on hand to guide us to the Villa when we arrived and deal with any queries. The villa is in a stunning location - completely away from other properties. It is about a 15 minute drive from Tavira which is a beautiful town - and especially stunning at night. Local beaches are great - we’d particularly recommend Cacela Velha. Casa Lia was a fantastic place for real rest and relaxation!"
