This privately owned spacious luxury villa is an ideal self catering holiday home furnished to a very high standard. The Algarve, Ferragudo: Situated to the south of Portugal, on the southwest tip of Europe, the Algarve has one of the world's most beautiful, unspoilt stretches of coast land and has been described as a unique jewel with the finest sandy beaches and the perfect sunny climate with a world-renowned reputation. The Algarve is one of Europe's sunniest spots and beautiful weather can be enjoyed throughout the year. In the winter months, when the sun goes down, if the evening is cool, then a nice log fire in the villa makes for a cosy setting. For some clients all that is needed is a low key relaxing holiday, for others the prerequisite will be a private pool and a large safe sandy beach for the children to play on, Ferragudo has something for everyone of all ages.
Ferragudo Village with its elevated structure and whitewashed houses, still provides all that's good about tradition and yet manages to meet the demands of its visitors without disruption. We are pleased to welcome back guests time and again.

Getting to Ferragudo: We have guests who arrive at both Faro Airport, Seville and Lisbon. The villa is about 45 minutes drive from Faro and we can organise for you to be met at the airport if you do not wish to hire a car. Car hire is not essential but collection is easily organised at the airport or can be arranged locally in Ferragudo. Some clients are met at the airport and taken to the villa and then hire a car locally for a few days only, if they wish to get out and about. For clients coming into Lisbon and Seville, the drive is about three hours and motorway most of the way. If you decide to drive, we provide information before you travel on directions to the villa.

Train is an option from Faro to Portimao or Ferrugudo but be aware that whilst the trains are traditional and clean in true Portuguese relaxed and chilled style, they do take a little time to get you to your destination.

There isn't a month that isn't beautiful in this location. In the winter months the bright sunny days are beautiful for long walks or for just sitting around in the village square having coffee and light refreshments. In the early months of the year there are often local festivals and it's a joy to see the local residents and their families enjoying the activity. Visitors are always made to feel welcome.

Golf Courses:
The villa is close to Alamos Golf; Alto, Gramacho Golf; Palmares, Penina, Pinta, Vale De Milho and Vale de Lobo golf resorts. We have clients who return to our villa year after year to play, some of them having other family members who prefer to go to the beach whilst the gofers go off blissfully knowing that they have as long as they need to play a round or two of golf. Some of the go.fing enthusiasts take their partners along with them to the golf resort and surprise their partners with lovely pampering sessions in the resort spa or beauty salon.

Activities for the family: The villa overlooks the beach and is within easy access of water sport facilities, a marina, zoos, marine parks, aqua playgrounds, diving, fishing, sailing, golf and horse riding. The beach is long and wide, the sea on the local beach is usually calm and safe for children to swim unlike some of the smaller beaches which surround the coastline. There are four excellent, family orientated beach cafes/bars offering good refreshments and sun umbrellas and lounge chairs if that is what is wanted. Beach volleyball and kite flying can also be seen frequently at the end of the day when the sun is going down. If one is really lucky, you will see a past Portuguese kite windsurfing champions in action on the Praire Grande beach, (the local beach).

From Ferragudo quayside, a small boat will take you for a few euros across to the Portimao marina where you can enjoy more restaurants, a luxurious beach facility or just a stroll along another beach boardwalk. Great for adults and children.

And we did a day trip to Evora to see the Cromeleque does Almendres, 100 + Standing Stones just outside the city. Wow! At 7000 years old, this magical place inspires the imagination. Three great beaches are a ten minutes walk away, and it is a short drive (or 25 min walk) to the square of Ferragudo village. Several restaurants and mini-market are within short walking distance, Gramacho and Pinta golf courses a short drive away.

Things to see and do with a car: The Slide&Splash water park is a 15 minute drive away from the house. Go ten minutes further and you will find Aqualand and Zoomarine, which has a fantastic dolphin show. Silves, Monchique and Sagres are great places to visit. Silves is dominated by Silves castle, a thrill for children! Monchique is known for the spa that is at least 2000 years old. Sagres marks the South-Western tip of Europe. The Romans called it 'the end of the world where the waters of the ocean boil at sunset'.
The boat tours that leave from the quai of Portimao or from Carvoeiro explore the caves and coast of the area. Some offer dolphin watching, deep sea fishing etc. Chldren will love the pirate ship trip!
Fans of motor-racing will enjoy the Formula 1 test circuit in Portimao. Quieter, but no less interesting are the megalith tombstones including the neolithic chamber tomb in Alcalar, close to Portimao.
Lagoa is one of the main wine producing areas of the Algarve. Wine tasting daily at Adega.

Things to see and do within walking distance: Do not forget attractions within walking distance. Ferragudo is an unusually pleasant village and you easily spend a lazy afternoon at a cafe table in the village square Praça Rainha Dona Leonor. Every second Sunday of the month there is a flea market in the village.
Praia Grande is said to have dinosaur footprints at its South end, but we haven't found them. Sao Joao de Arade is a picturesque castle right on the beach on the North side. Some say it looks like a sand castle, and we don't disagree. There is a footpath from Ferragudo through Praia Grande to the next beaches, Praia do Molhe and Praia do Pintadinho next to the lighthouse at Ponta do Altar. Take a stroll to the lighthouse one evening to watch the sunset! Next to the lighthouse is a natural pit from which you can hear, and partly see the sea far below. It is amazing and slightly scary.
The foot-path continues to Praia dos Caneiros and further to Carvoeiro via the recently restaured medieval watchtower.

Laundry facilities were great and we enjoyed being able to hang clothes out to dry on the warmer days. We were a short drive away from many shopping areas and tourist areas. We walked to the light house daily and checked out the hiking trails. Dining out was also a wonderful experience. There was always plenty of food at reasonable prices. Our favorite experience was going for coffee and fresh baking and just relaxing and listening to people visiting, without a telephone or computer and actually talking to one another. All in all I would recommend this lovely villa and Portugal as a go to vacation spot"

The villa is decorated and equipped to the highest standard and is suitable for couples, families and those looking for a relaxing holiday with lots of amenities within walking distance. The village has all the amenities you would need on holiday - supermarkets, pharmacist, bakers, butchers and take away restaurants. There are 3 superb beaches in or close to the village. These beaches are extremely child friendly - they all have high quality beach bars and are perfect for long lunches in the sun. Highly recommended villa.

Casa Do Capitao is an attractive two bedroom semi detached villa positioned at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac on a small development in Ferragudo. With a large secluded garden overlooking open countryside and a private pool, our villa sets itself apart from the rest.

We have owned the property since 2017 and have invested in making this our second home. The villa has air conditioning and heating for cooler months, pool heating, Wi-Fi with internet TV, fitted mosquito nets and electric shutters. There are sun-beds with umbrellas and outside tables and chairs. We have also added a traditional Portuguese bbq.

Both bathrooms have walk in showers and heated towel rails, with the upstairs bathroom having underfloor heating and a bath. The light and airy master bedroom has a super-king bed, with sliding doors onto a balcony with table and chairs. The second bedroom has twin beds, with sliding doors onto a Juliet balcony. The modern kitchen Is fully equipped, including fridge freezer, microwave, oven, second fridge for drinks, and a coffee machine.

The property is completely fenced and gated and is accessed through electric gates.

There is an optional additional charge for air conditioning/heating at £85 per week and £125 per week for pool heating. A damage deposit of £400 will be requested prior to your arrival.

Ferragudo is a charming traditional fishing village situated on the eastern side of the river Arade. The village has developed over the years but keeps its natural charm whilst offering all the services that visitors today demand. On the opposite side of the estuary and accessed by water taxi is the well-known resort of Praia da Rocha and the town and marina of Portimão.

Ferragudo offers everything for a relaxing holiday and has an historic central square and quaint cobbled alleyways. The village is very well positioned for shopping, golf, tennis, soft sand beaches and other places of interest and activities. The main beach (Praia Grande) is a10 minute walk and is excellent for children. There are 4 restaurants on the beach. The Nau Bar is open all day into the evening with live music most nights in the high season. Sun loungers, umbrellas, paddle boards and pedalos are all available to rent.

There is a paved footpath from the villa that offers a short cut down to the village road with cafés, various eateries, a general store with a butcher counter and a chemist all less than a 5 minutes walk away. A couple of minutes further along the village is the central square where you will find many bars and restaurants.

Outside: The garden has a children's play area with a basketball hoop, swimming pool, sun loungers, and a barbecue with space for a pleasant exterieur dining. Ping-Pong table available per request.

Inside: On the ground floor, there are two leisure rooms, a dining room, a panoramic fireplace in one of the living rooms. A large kitchen and a bedroom en suite. On the upper floor there are 2 twin bedrooms that share a bathroom and a double bedroom with bathroom. There is also a small terrace with sea views.

For rentals of 2 weeks or more, full cleaning will be done with a change of bed linen and towels in the middle of the stay (dates to be arranged). For rentals of less than 2 weeks, full cleaning will be carried out at the end of the stay.

Swimming pool heating is available, for a fee to be confirmed (if you decide to have pool heating, this must be advised a couple of days prior to your arrival ), fee to be paid locally

The pool area is clean and of a good size. We especially enjoyed the sunsets in the evening and walks along the cliff tops which led to nearby beaches. There are a number of restaurants within walking distance although the closest shops were a short drive. We had a couple of minor issues which were dealt with and resolved quickly by the Villa owners. We were disappointed to find there were only a couple of English TV channels (Sky News and Greyhound Racing) however our children got around this as they had their iPads and were able to watch TV programmes using the Wi-Fi. We would recommend hiring a car as there is lots to explore in the surrounding area. Many thanks to the owners and the kids especially enjoyed the oranges that were left for us on our arrival. "

This luxury villa built in 2000 and refurbished 2014 is ideal all year for the retired, families on maternity/paternity leave and as a holiday home for one or two families with children. The one story villa has three ordinary bedrooms and one family bedroom for up to four people. Two bedrooms are en suite. The villa enjoys the sea breeze of summer, but air co/heating is fitted. The furniture is contemporary Scandinavian and brand new as of 2014. Wireless internet is included.

Outside is a dinner area, a spacious deck and a circular 50 m2 pool. There is a great sea view from the deck and pool area, but the gem of the house is the roof terrace, which offers a 360 degree view of the coast to the South, the hills and mountains to the North, and Portimao/Praia da Rocha to the West.

Three great beaches are a five-ten minutes walk away, and it is a short drive (or 20 min walk) to the square of Ferragudo village. Several restaurants are within a short walking distance, Gramacho and Pinta golf courses are located a short drive away.

Less than ten minutes walk from the beach and Ferragudo village square, it's easy to find fantastic restaurants and bars which offering local delicious tapas, meat and fish dishes in this charming fishing village.

A short water taxi from the village will take you to buzzing Praia da Rocha beach in Portimão. From here you will also find all the shops you need in addition to an even wider variety of restaurants and bars.

- "Lovely property in fantastic location " - "We have been to four resorts in the Algarve region, but I must say, I think Ferraguda is our favourite by far. We are a family of four and holidayed with our friends - also a family of four. Casa Limoeiro catered to our every need. The size of the villa was ample for both families. All bedrooms are a good size, and we were lucky enough to bag the main suite - with its very own lounge area. I was impressed that there were four bathrooms too, a kitchenette area on the ground floor - which made it easier for drinks/snacks etc by the pool. Loved having the use of a utility room for laundry etc. We are big fans of self catering and we had everything we needed at the villa. We didn’t really need the services of George (the concierge) but he was just a call away if required. Wilma, who looked after our airport transfers and also a day trip to the local water park was equally efficient. The villa was in a perfect location - and I feel that this was the main highlight for us. We didn’t hire a car as we only stayed a week, but also, there was no need as we were 10/15 mins away from all local amenities. The main square in Ferragudo was lovely & perfect for dining out. Loved the bustling atmosphere of, and found all the local eateries offered great cuisine. The beach was 15mins away and what a delightful bay! In comparison to other resorts we’ve visited, this bay had a lot to offer. Two lovely restaurants - one of which (Club Nau) we visited twice. Beautiful setting right on the beach with live music/entertainment. Try the cataplana - it’s fab. The bay was a lot calmer than further up the coast, and because of this we were able to kayak, paddle board and enjoy the floating inflatable obstacle course. Beds/shades readily available to hire for half or a full day. Ferragudo is clearly a popular resort for the locals. We found everyone friendly and welcoming. Lidl is a walk away, but a taxi would be required to transfer all your shopping back! However, there’s a small local store on the way to the main square that had a fresh meat and deli counter which was perfect, especially if you wanted fresh produce for a bbq. I wouldn’t hesitate to book Casa Limoeiro and the same transfer service again. Kelly (the owner) has been more than helpful since we booked, and because of our late arrival she went over and above to provide provisions we required to see us through until we were able to get to the shops. A wonderful & memorable holiday all round!!"
