One note, I was unaware of an additional temporary charge (hold on credit card) in terms of a security deposit for the rental. It was only a temporary hold but I was unaware of that and the i.d. check in scan (photo) having utilized other rentals before. It is understandable and reasonable, but I was unaware. It may have been in the contract, and I overlooked it, but it was a non-issue in any event. If I did overlook it that is my fault. If I did not and it was not advised beforehand, I would recommend advising persons beforehand."

I have created a beautiful home for you here at the Haven in the ‘Hood. I’ve tried to think of everything you’ll need, but if you’re missing something, let me know and I’ll try to accommodate you.

In the lounge is a comfortable custom leather sectional complete with cushions and throws, with a coffee table begging for your feet, and a smart TV with Roku (remotes in the second drawer in the island). And you know your comfort is top priority when the floors are heated.

There are two private bedrooms, each with a queen size bed made oh so comfortable with 680 thread count ironed bedding, four plump pillows, and a down filled duvet. If you have a down allergy, please let me know and I can substitute a wool duvet.

The bathroom is ready for your shower, with soft fluffy white towels, Moroccan Oil shampoo and conditioner, and lavender shower gel. And no luxury bathroom is complete without a bidet. So fresh and clean.

I have set up a full kitchen for you with full size appliances. You have dishes and cutlery, cutting boards and knives, a cheese board, wineglasses, coffee cups, pots and pans, utensils, and even spices. There’s also a Nespresso machine with a selection of pods, a kettle, and English Breakfast tea. You will find milk, cream, yogurt and homemade granola in the fridge. There are almonds in the granola. It’s made with large flaked oats, but sadly not guaranteed gluten free. And there’s a propane BBQ just outside the back door! All the comforts of home.

Free Wifi is included in your stay. There is a QR code on the fridge to get you on the wifi without having to type in the password.

Parking is free at the Haven in the ‘Hood. Between April 1 and November 30, you are free to park your vehicle on the street. There are no restrictions, it’s quite safe and there is plenty of space available. Between December 1 and March 31, overnight parking will be in the driveway. My car lives in the garage, so please park at the bottom of the driveway near the sidewalk and close to the retaining wall.

There are laundry facilities in the utility room, made available to guests who are staying longer than 4 days. If you’re here for only a couple of days, but are desperate to do laundry, please ask. I’ll unlock the door. Please note: the dryer is non venting, so there is a water container that must be emptied after each load. The machines are small, so if you have something big to wash there is a laundromat located in the plaza on Edinburgh Rd.

There are restaurants a 5 min walk from the apartment, but the real selection of restaurants is downtown -- a 30 min walk, or a 5 min /typically $10 Uber. We have everything downtown from upscale pub food to international to Italian to Indian... to the sausage cart on the square. If you're up for clubbing, you'll find that downtown too. We have a great Civic Museum, an Art Gallery on the way to the University, a tea room in the Boathouse on the river. Or you can travel further afield to Elora and take in the Gorge. Not far past Elora is one of the few remaining original covered bridges in Ontario at West Montrose. And not to brag, but Guelph has a covered bridge too, very close to the Boathouse.

Something about the TV. We don't have cable, and since the unit is located in the basement, the reception on the antenna isn't possible. Instead, the TV has a ChromeCast dongle connected to it. You can use your phone/tablet/computer to browse videos and broadcast them to the TV. Youtube has that feature, most of the browsers allow casting as well. For news, sports, etc. consider using CBC app. They broadcast live news 24/7.
Parking is available on our driveway. Please discuss with us ahead of time where exactly will be your parking spot. On street parking is okay overnight and on weekends. However, please check the signs before leaving your car on a street.

Located close to downtown Guelph, this unit is a one bedroom apartment in a five-plex, limestone building that was built circa 1867. It has charming deep-set windows and wonderful old trim. There is a full kitchen and bath. The entire apartment was renovated in 2017 with new flooring throughout, new kitchen appliances, counter top and backsplash, and new shower. While renovating the galley kitchen, we uncovered the original wallpaper on the ceiling. Rather than paint over it, we chose to leave it exposed as a feature. (see photos)

The space
This 1000 sq ft apartment is on the top floor of a heritage stone building. I've lived in this apartment for many years and put a lot of love into it. I'm happy to share it with the Airbnb community :-)

Please note that the building is over 100 years old and has some quirks. It’s a great home away from home and not a hotel-style experience.

The bedroom includes a double bed with a Douglas foam medium-firm mattress, closet and blinds to help block out light.

The kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, dishes, cooking basics and coffee for your convenience. The living room has a Smart TV for guests to log in to their streaming platforms on and board games to enjoy.

There is a window A/C unit for the summer months and a thermostat inside the apartment so you're in full control of the temperature.

The space
This modern legal accessory unit is located on the lower level of our home with a completely private, separate entry. Recently renovated to City of Guelph standards, it features egress windows, a walk-out, and meets applicable fire ratings.

My fiancé and I have lived in Guelph for over 12 years and on Suffolk St. for 7 years. Our mini poodle, Alfie, loves to sit in the window and witness the world go by. He’s normally quiet as a mouse but does the occasional warning bark to trespassing squirrel.

• Entry: Beside the front porch, you’ll find a set of stairs that leads downstairs to your apartment! Once booked, we’ll send you the instructions for easy self-entry.

• Living Room: You’ll enter the house to the living room, where you’ll find storage for your outerwear. Along with a small sectional couch and swivel chair, you’ll have a TV with Chromecast and a small collection of board games for entertainment.

• Kitchen: This fully equipped kitchen is stocked with everything you need to prepare and enjoy your meals. Coffee, tea, oil, salt, pepper, microwaveable popcorn, and popcorn shakers are also available for your enjoyment!

The space
This immaculate apartment is in the basement of a century home with beautiful gardens nestled on a quiet street. The unit is bright and airy with egress windows in the bedroom and living room, good ceiling height (80" or 203 cm) and its own separate entrance. The apartment boasts a fully equipped kitchen with a full-sized stove and microwave, everything you need to cook a meal, and a table and chairs for dining. The spacious three-piece bathroom has a heated floor. We are in the downtown area and you can easily get around by foot or by using public transit. There is a bus stop at the end of our street and the Go station is 1.2 km away. The University of Guelph is a 5-minute drive or is easily accessible by bus. If you drive, there is a dedicated parking spot in our driveway, as well as on-street parking.

Other things to note
As this is an older (century) house, there may be some minor noise transfer from upstairs, particularly when our grandchildren visit, but there are no children or pets living in the home.

This apartment is ideal for exploring Guelph, visiting relatives, attending medical appointments, for business professionals with short term work in the city, or for a romantic getaway.
