This casita is located in a quiet neighborhood just 3 miles from Kanab city center. It has a mini kitchen with ample counter space. The kitchen also includes a mini-fridge, two burner stove, toaster oven, microwave and coffee maker. The casita has one king size bed. It has an outdoor table and seating at the kitchen counter. There is also a walk-in-closet with plenty of storage space. The casita is on the lower level of the home of the owners and has its own entrance.

The owners live upstairs and although they are very respectful of their guests, footsteps are audible. They have two small dogs and you may hear the pitter patter of little feet. The puppies do not bark often but if you hear barking look outside and you may see a herd of deer in the yard!

It is a short walk to dinosaur tracks and hiking trails. Kanab is a central location to Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument, Lake Powell and The Wave. This is a great base camp for folks wanting to get out and explore the area!

There is a doorbell camera at the back door of the house which is near the casita entrance. The camera picks up the driveway and parking area but not the outdoor seating area or any part of the casita.

A convenient laptop area is perfect for staying connected. Enjoy a restful night's sleep in the queen bedroom, with additional sleeping space on the convertible futon in the living room. But the true highlight? The private balcony, ideal for mesmerizing stargazing under the vast Utah sky or soaking in the vibrant hues of a morning sunrise against the striking red cliffs.

This property is a pet friendly property and does require a $25 pet fee if you plan on bringing your furry friends. Pet Policy: Pets are NOT allowed to be unattended in the home at any time, please understand and respect our policy.

Guest Access:
Our guests will have plenty of room to park, use of the deck and yard, and the entire loft. Please keep in mind that this is a loft on top of a barn so guests will have to climb 27 steep stairs to access house.

The Neighborhood:
Located out east of town where you will have plenty of peace, quiet and privacy. Owner lives on the property in a house nearby. Guests will have the opportunity to hike all over in 40 acres of private land. Up the canyon certain times of the year, there is a nice spring. There are lots of deer trails to follow as well. Please keep in mind that there are cows on the property certain times of the year, mainly in spring and summer (May-July). Please be aware that if we get a lot of rain, sometimes the dips/washes are unpassable so please don't attempt to drive a car through until the flooding stops and the dips/washes are cleared out.

There's plenty to do with state and national parks nearby, but if you're looking for something more low-key for a day or two, consider the local hikes featured on the flyers in our house book: Squaw, Bunting and K-hill, all offering wonderful views. As well, Jacob Hamblin park has a playground, field, pool with slides, splash pad, and tennis/pickleball courts; Kanab City Library is nearby and often has books for sale; Ranchos Park has great baseball fields; Best Friends Animal Sanctuary has great guided tours (they welcome donations). Also consider the local restaurants, bakeries, and ice cream shops. We love some of the local tour companies; they can make your travel time far more productive and enjoyable. Many of them even offer early morning pick-ups from Kanab.

Equestrian and biking trails are also available.

Getting Around:
This home has convenient access to Hwy 89A/89 which takes you to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, Zion and Bryce National Parks, Lake Powell, as well as the north rim of the Grand Canyon. Just minutes away from downtown Kanab, this home makes accessing local restaurants, shops, and grocery stores easy!

Here in southern Utah a vehicle is required to get around in town and beyond. We recommend a 4WD vehicle with high clearance if you intend to go off-road to out of the way places.

Ask about renting both places for a discounted price. The Star Garage sleeps two, The Western Star Bungalow sleeps six for a total of eight.

We are a pet-friendly place to be, but only room for one pet in the Star Garage.

- "This is a cute little place and the room was very small but lovely. Everything has been complete furnished so it feels like new. We had difficulty navigating the TV and this really frustrated my husband. We could only get streaming programs so no local channels for live TV. For example we wanted to watch a live program on CBS but could only find streaming, not current. There is Roku TV so if you have multiple subscriptions to apps you can sign in with your own credentials. Overall it was a real pain. We called the number on the VRBO app to contact the host and left a message but never got a reply. Also there was an ice bucket in the room but the office was closed so didn’t find any ice."

The neighborhood is quiet and provides wonderful walks with fantastic views. We love visiting with guests and sometimes enjoy dinner together, or an evening hike on a nearby trail. Wander all of our acreage and use the VW Camper Bus at anytime. We frequently keep the car cover on the bus to protect it from the sun, but are more than happy to remove it for you. Do not hesitate to knock on our door and ask us to remove it and to tell you too many stories of our bus! We ENJOY sharing the bus! The Bus is there for you, so don't be shy in asking about it.

Other things to note
Satellite navigation maps go haywire in our neighborhood, confusing our street, South Kane, with bordering West Kane, East Kane and plain Kane.

If you arrive via Kanab Creek Drive, DO NOT TURN LEFT onto one of the other Kanes. Even if your computer insists. It's wrong.

Off of Kanab Creek Drive, Only turn RIGHT onto South Kane Drive.

We have a long white fence at the street with a YELLOW MAILBOX. That's us.

If you get lost in the middle of night, South Kane is the street BETWEEN the major thoroughfares Kanab Creek Drive and Powell Drive. That's the South Kane you want. And we are close to Kanab Creek Drive.

Newer, fully furnished and equipped one bedroom/bath apartment. Full kitchen with stove, refrigerator and microwave for your comfort and meal preparation. We are located 5 minutes from town and 8 miles from Best Friends Animal Society. Beekeeping on site, active hives are on the opposite side of th property posing little risk for visitors. We are in the Ranchos subdivision of Kanab, close to Zion, Bryce and the Grand Canyon and 90 miles from St George.

Casita in Kanab for "Value Seekers" 6 Guests. Walk to restaurants, and the local attractions. There is a bedroom with a queen bed and work station, 1 Bath, and a full kitchen/dining area on the ground floor. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you will need. Downstairs has a pass-through bedroom with 2 twin beds. There is also a bathroom and a private queen size bedroom downstair

Bryce and Zion National Parks, Lake Powell and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon are less than 2 hours away

The space
Our home has an entirely new interior with new appliances, flooring, beds, and furnishings. It is not elaborate but very comfortable and functional.

All bedding, towels, etc. are included. There is a Washer and Dryer with this unit also. It has new heat/AC units to keep the temperature comfortable year-round.

The backyard has a patio with a BBQ grill, fire pit, and outside furniture. There also is a very large shade tree for outdoor comfort in summer.

The Casita is self-check-in using a keypad door lock. You'll receive the code the day of your check-in.

There is plenty of free parking in front of the home. Please park on the right side where the concrete pad is.

Please be aware that part of the year the owners live on the property and the rest of the year there are other travelers visiting. Please be respectful and courteous of space.

This 2-unit home. The Casita is completely private and separate. The only things shared are the outside patio and BBQ grill. So sharing may be necessary but is very seldom used. The backyard is fenced on 3 sides and is comfortably private.

This home could be booked as a 5 Bd, 3 Ba, 2 Kitchen home. A locked door (with a lock on both sides) could be opened for ease of access. Inquire if you are looking to book with a larger party.

While we allow dogs in our home please be respectful of our space and do not leave your pets unaccompanied in the home. If you're visiting Southern Utah for the first time or you are returning for more adventures, you will find our townhome the perfect spot for your group accommodating up to 6 people. Located close to downtown Kanab, our townhome is the perfect spot to take leisurely strolls while taking in the views of the red rocks after you've enjoyed your morning cup of coffee on the back patio. After a day of exploring or visiting Zion or Bryce Canyon, end your day by taking a dip in the community pool!

The space
Our townhome is fully stocked with bathroom essentials (soap, shampoo, paper) kitchen and laundry products!

The townhome has 3 bedrooms upstairs. The spacious master bedroom has a queen sized bed, ensuite bathroom with a garden tub and shower. The first guest bedroom has a queen bed and there are two twin beds in the third guest bedroom. There are night stands, luggage racks and large closets to store all your things.

We are centrally located to so many things you'll want to see and experience during your vacation. We are just 35 minutes to the east entrance of Zion National Park and Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. Bryce Canyon National Park is about 90 minutes to the north along scenic highways and about the same distance to the south to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Whether you are here to visit southern Utah's world-famous national parks, monuments and state parks or volunteering at Best Friends Animal Society, our nation's no-kill largest animal sanctuary, the Wild Rose Country is a perfect basecamp for all your adventures.

There are several hiking trails you can get to right from our townhome which will take you up to the cliffs overlooking Kanab and into the canyons. Parking is free and you will have 1 dedicated covered parking spot as several other spots directly in front of our unit.

Guest access
You will have full access to the townhome and the HOA facilities including the gym, seasonal hot tub, and pool. The pool and hot tub opens for Spring Break (typically the last week of March) and closes on October 1. Spring Break is an estimate because weather must be over 70 degrees for 3 consecutive days before the pool can open.

Please make sure to put the pool key back in its original place once you are done using it! :) If you lose the pool key it is a $250 fee to replace it.

Vehicles must be parked in lined spaces and within those lines. Several complaints have been received that vehicles are occupying two or more stalls, parking is occurring in undesignated areas (areas that are not lined for parkign stalls) etc. We ask that guests and residents park in the designated spaces properly to allow parking for everyone. Zip's Towing will be tagging vehicles that are parked inappropriately for possible towing if the parking violation is not corrected in a timely manner.

Our guests will have plenty of room to park, use of the deck and yard, and the entire loft. Please keep in mind that this is a loft on top of a barn so guests will have to climb 27 steep stairs to access house.
