And the living room TV area doesn't have enough plugs to have everything plugged in. Luckily we had portable power strip with us we were able to connect so that we could get internet. Other than that we enjoyed the stay and the house!"

We have many of the amenities of home but, should you need specialty items, supermarkets, 24 hr. pharmacy and shopping is within walking distance (no need for a car) – as well as commuter trains and buses!
During your stay, you can utilize nearby walking and biking trails, picnic spaces and water recreation (canoeing or paddle boarding during warm months) – or visit Assembly Place with it’s many restaurants, shopping and cinema. *Please note that we live in the apartment above you with our 2 (extremely friendly) rescue dogs and kitty. Because we work from home, you may hear us or the pitter-patter of paws, but we respect our guests. The space features a new central heat/air conditioning/air filtration system, a comfortable living/dining space with a high-quality queen pull-out sofa, Jens Risom upholstered rocker & solid wood dining table with seating for 4+. The Samsung 43", 4K TV is equipped with basic cable and streaming services (Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc. - access your own accounts) to enjoy after a day out.

The kitchen has butcher block counters, a new Bosch dishwasher, a Nespresso machine, a drip coffee maker, and all the bar tools a mixologist may need.

Bedrooms have quality hybrid mattresses, hypoallergenic pillows & bedding. The bathroom has a deep jacuzzi bathtub, rain shower head & toiletries so you can pack light. You will also have private use of the new washer/dryer in our remodeled basement utility space.

Finally, we have a lovely backyard space with outdoor dining, seating areas, and a large BBQ grill for your use. The backyard is a shared space with us, occasionally unavailable for an evening if we have something planned, but we’ll let you know in advance.

The walk is hilly, so wear good shoes! Ubers were less than a 7 minute wait every time. The airport is 15 minutes away. So, you can get into the city quickly, but the apartment is in a quiet neighborhood to get away from the hustle of the city when you are ready to relax. We are already planning our next trip, and will definitely try to book this property again."

The house itself is a historical gothic cottage built in 1856 and is the 2nd oldest home in the area.

The space is within a historic single family home and both the bedroom and bathroom are 100% PRIVATE and separated from the rest of the house with a private entrance. The bedroom is soundproofed so it is very quiet.

There's a large room with a queen-size bed, dresser, mini-fridge, microwave, dining table, coffee/tea bar, and bay windows that let in a ton of light. (There is no full kitchen)

FYI The WiFi has been completely replaced with a new mesh network and the overall home bandwidth has been doubled as of 11/1/2023. The internet has been flawless since!

Good for families with older kids, this not a great spot for toddlers given the unfinished nature. Also only a single bathroom so not a great situation if your group does not get along, or one of you takes loooong showers. Also, while not far from transit, not super close so prepare to walk, or drive to the nearby T stations. But also nearby are some great looking bakeries and restaurants! And a beautiful walking path along the Mystic."

We've lived here for 5 years and have worked hard to make it a comfortable, cozy space. There's lots of light throughout the day, and gorgeous hardwood floors. It's a quiet and safe residential neighborhood, close to public transit and shops. There's also plenty of closet + storage space and a shared patio.

The space
The building has 3 floors, each owned by a different tenant. Neighbors are quiet and polite (we've never been disrupted by noise).

The apartment has 2 bedrooms, and we have converted one into a home office/gym. There are 2 ready-to-plug-in dual-monitor workstations for 2 people working from home. The main bedroom has blackout curtains and a genuine (i.e., expensive) Tempurpedic memory foam mattress.

The office can easily be converted to a 2nd bedroom if needed, in which case we have an excellent air mattress with a fancy mattress topper that is wildly comfortable.

The dual bathrooms are convenient and the shower has plenty of pressure (and we've never run out of hot water). The gas stove is a joy to cook with, and we've got a fancy drip coffee maker that grinds the beans right before brewing.

You'll have full reign of our apartment on the 1st floor. There is a shared unfinished basement (with a lock on the door) if you need to store anything.

Other things to note
It gets a little dry in the winter from the radiators, but we have several humidifiers throughout the house that fix the problem as long as you fill them every other day.

We have a cat, but we keep air purifiers running and have the house cleaned regularly. My partner is allergic to cats and hasn't had any issues. We will arrange a deep cleaning beforehand to minimize potential allergy issues.

We're planning to move the cat to a sitter's house, but if you are open to looking after her we'd gladly discount the price.

Specifics:
This is a unique lower level "English Basement". Entry is through the side garden gate. There is one small step down to the path. When you arrive at the entrance, there will be 5 stairs to descend into the apartment. There are handrails on both sides. Please be aware that this apartment is not suitable for people with mobility challenges.

Inside, the apartment is all on one level with an easy flow design. There is plenty of natural light and each room has been thoughtfully furnished with your comfort and ease in mind. The space is approximately 900 sq. ft. and comprises of the following:

Bedroom: Features a king size bed with dual heated memory foam mattress for the perfect night's sleep. There is ample closet and storage space, a Bose clock/radio/CD player and multiple lighting options to relax and unwind. For those of you who need to work as well as vacation, there is a desk with drawers for storage, a lamp and ample workspace for your laptop.

Living Room: A full-size sofa bed, 2 side chairs and coffee table. A dining room table with 2 chairs that can function as a workspace, bookshelves, an 8' x 10' rug and a 40" screen TV with approximately 30 local channels. Switch to HDMI 3 to cast / stream your own apps. On cold nights, you can relax in front of the Shaker fireplace for extra warmth and ambiance. On warmer days, you will also have use of a portable air conditioning / air conditioner unit.

Kitchenette: Full size fridge/microwave/kettle/toaster oven/electric wok/2 burner electric cook top/ induction cook top/pots & pans / utensils. (NB: NO STOVE).

We are within walking distance of a great selection of international restaurants, diners, coffee shops with WIFI and cafes.

Guests have use of the high efficiency washer/dryer. We provide a starter pod of fragrance free laundry detergent. We advise you to bring/buy your own should you need more.

The garden apartment functions as a completely private self-contained space with access from the side of the house. Once inside, you will have sole use of the space.

The rental space is located in the lower level of the house and is accessed through a separate entrance, via the garden. PLEASE NOTE: For those with mobility issues, there are 5 steps to get to your private entrance.

There is a well-lit path from the sidewalk/driveway to the entrance. The side entrance has sensor lights as well as multiple outdoor lights to make night time access/navigation easier. You will enter through the white garden gate to the right of the driveway. NOTE: There is one step down from the gate to the path, though the rest of the entryway is flat. You will proceed down the path to the garden, turn left and the entry door to the unit is the first on the left. It is well lit with outdoor wall lamps.

You will find a lock box at the entrance of the apartment for easy self-entry. Codes will be given the day before your stay begins.

3 year old Labrador:
Please be aware we have a family dog who lives in the main house. He is very playful and has good manners. He is an ex-service dog (in training) who was excused from the program due to allergies.

Ceiling Height:
As per the listing, there are 5 steps to get into the apartment and there is a low ceiling around the 3rd step. Inside the apartment the ceiling height is generally 6'10" (80"). Please be aware that there are a few areas where ceiling soffits bring the height down 4- 6". For example: A 2' area in hallway that is 6'2"; In the bedroom there is an area over the dresser that is 6'2".

The space
Welcome to our unique and cozy lower-level studio apartment with a loft area, private entrance, and all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. The space is distinguished by its high ceilings and lots of natural lights which create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The loft area, situated above the main area of the space, features a comfortable queen-size bed, perfect for a good night's sleep. The main area of the space includes a cozy couch, dining table with seating for 6, and a fully equipped kitchen, with all the appliances and cookware you need to prepare delicious meals. There's also a private bathroom with a shower and tub, as well as a washer and dryer for your convenience.

We're pleased to offer high-speed WiFi, so you can stay connected during your stay. There are two parking spots available in our driveway, with plenty of street parking available if you need it.

Our quiet family neighborhood is just a short walk from bus lines that can take you to Malden Station or Wellington Station on the Orange Line, making it easy to explore the Boston area. Wrights Pond and hiking trails are all located within a short walk of the space, providing ample opportunities to enjoy the beautiful local wildlife and scenery.

Please note that our studio apartment is located on the lower level of our home, and requires navigating a flight of stairs to access. Additionally, the loft area has a low ceiling, so you may not be able to stand up fully. We want to ensure that all of our guests are comfortable during their stay, so please keep these factors in mind when booking.

It's also important to note that our upstairs apartment is home to a family with young children. While we make every effort to keep noise to a minimum, it's important to be aware that you may hear some noise during your stay. If you are a light sleeper or particularly sensitive to noise, this may not be the best fit for you.
