This 3-bedroom apartment (2 bedrooms and one office/den) is well-appointed and stocked with a FABULOUS kitchen, has a great living room, nice sized bedrooms, of course, amazing linens, and ice-cold air conditioning. It's also in a great location, close enough to Chicago & Milwaukee - so a great place to call "home" for your visit.

Our most common question is about the home’s proximity to the beach, Great Lakes Naval Base, Six Flags, and downtown Chicago.

If you’re coming here for the beach, you probably want to check out Waukegan Municipal Beach and Illinois Beach State Park. The driving time to the beach will be approx. 8 minutes. The incredible Bowen Park is even closer, and about a 4-minute drive.

Heading to downtown Chicago? For most, in good weather, the drive to downtown Chicago is the best choice since you can easily hop on 41, and be there in just under an hour. If you prefer to not pay for parking, then taking the train into Chicago is easy peasy! Catch the Union Pacific North Line at the Waukegan Metra Station. Trains usually run every hour. Enjoy the scenery along the way, and arrive at Ogilvie Transportation Center. From there it's a quick 15-minute walk into the heart of Downtown Chicago, museums, the Riverwalk, shopping, and the Magnificent Mile!

This home has a great open floor plan – the spacious kitchen, dining area, and living room all share one large space, with large windows opening up to the main street.

All beds feature feather-down comforters, feather pillows, and cozy linens - once you get in, you might not want to get back out! Traveling with an infant? You should have plenty of room to set up our pack-n-play in the Main Bedroom. There is even room in the back office/bedroom area. Here is an overview of the sleeping spaces and bathroom:

In the bathrooms, you will find plenty of amenities including hand soap pumps, shampoo, conditioner & body wash. We stock plenty of plush bath towels, washcloths, and a hairdryer. Please use our dark washcloths for makeup removal.

We cook… a lot! So we couldn’t imagine offering you a poorly stocked kitchen. This large kitchen has tons of cabinets and counter space… and we’ve already got the cabinets stocked with all the utensils and small appliances you’ll need to make and serve a full meal.

Our most common question regarding the kitchen is about the coffee. We provide coffee grounds and filters. If you’re hoping to have everyone sit down at a table for a meal, the dining room table seats 4, and the quartz countertops offer plenty of room for serving space.

As for appliances- the kitchen has a gas oven and cooktop, a deep sink, a countertop microwave, and of course a spacious refrigerator. The utility closet offers a full-size stacked washer & dryer.

Guests will access the apartment in the back of the building. There is parking for two vehicles. Guests will self-check-in with a lockbox.

If you need additional space to work remotely, my office is on the first floor and is available to rent for an additional charge. Please inquire if you are interested in renting our office space during your stay. We have a large conference table, a TV monitor for presentations, and multiple working spaces including a kitchenette. Our daily rates for use of our office range from $25 - $75/day.

I'm available to help during your stay. I work in the office space on the first floor of the building during the day, and live only a few blocks away. If guests need anything, I'm available. I'm also a real estate agent. *Property is Agent Owned*

This apartment is located near the intersection of Jackson St. and Glen Flora Ave. in Waukegan. There is a dentist's office next door, and a financial consulting business on the other side of our building. Across the street is a local favorite, Glen Flora Tap & Grill. They serve lunch and dinner, and offer Brunch on Sundays. Great burgers, pizza, tacos and Fish Fry. We are less than a mile from Vista East Medical Center, as well as St. Anastasia's Catholic Church and Glen Flora Elementary School. The Great Lakes Naval Base is 10 minutes away. Gurnee, Illinois is about 15 minutes away.

There is public transportation available nearby. There are two PACE bus stops, the 562 and 561 routes, about 400 feet away from the apartment. The Waukegan Metra Station is about 2 miles away and has trains throughout the day going to Chicago and all along the North Shore. I recommend renting a car to be able to access all of the Greater Chicagoland area.

Please note that the 3rd bedroom/office does not have a private entrance. It is open to the hallway of the apartment. Be sure to review the floor plans and photos.

As you'll see, the third bedroom/office has the back exterior entrance to the apartment. This is why it doesn't have a private bedroom door. It has a closet and there is a bathroom attached to this room. This room has a pull-out couch and an office desk/chair.

As for Waukegan, year-round you will see lots of deer, squirrels/chipmunks, and birds. In season we get our fair share of mosquitos, so bring a non-toxic mosquito and tick repellant so you can fully enjoy the beautiful fresh air outdoors if you plan to enjoy some of the trails nearby.

What else.... bring along any outdoor games you might enjoy (corn hole/bags, volleyball, etc.), and maybe some beach chairs - to bring with you to the beach! Also, consider bringing some bikes to explore the lakefront and bike path nearby.
-No Smoking inside the home. If you smoke outside, do not throw cigarette butts on the ground. Use the waste receptacle provided.
-No vaping inside the home.
-No shoes in the house. Remove them at the door upon entering. Shoe rack is provided. House shoes/slippers are allowed.
-No parties. We have exterior security cameras and if we see more guests than you booked for, you will be charged a minimum $200 excessive cleaning fee.
-No pets. We have exterior security cameras and if we see a pet, you will be charged a minimum $200 excessive cleaning fee.
-Check-out is at 11am. If you stay later, you will be fined $50 per hour if you stay past 11am. Our cleaning teams arrive at 11 am because we have new guests arriving at 3pm. They need enough time to thoroughly clean the home.

There is No Smoking, No Vaping allowed in or around the property and No pets, failure to abide to the rules, will result in a $200 charge for extra cleaning personnel, also No parties, No events allowed.
The apartment is very clean, disinfected and ready with a 55" Smart TV in living room with Amazon Prime and Netflix. Lots of natural light throughout the apartment, blackout curtains are provided. Two bedrooms each with quality mattress for a good night rest. Bathroom very clean and plenty of towels provided. Kitchen ready with coffee, tea, sugar, cream and all your cooking basics. Dining room with computer table nook. No Smoking. No Pets. No Parties. No Groups of 10 or more. Not suitable for children and infants. The building is equipped with security cameras in the exterior of building and in stairway for guests safety, they will be on at all times. Quiet hours are from 9pm to 8am.

Pleasant experience." - "The property is older with very creeky floors and busy road out front but the neighborhood was pleasant, easy to access and had designated parking in back. Everything I googled: grocery, food, Starbucks, NEX, Navy Grad, was all 7 to 14 min away (O'Hare about 30 min). The only thing we couldn't find was beach access but were close to drive to a peer. All towels, bedding, dish soap, trash bags, pots and pans, plates and cups, TP, paper towels, were comfortably provided. Minimum stairs for my mom to navigate, convenient back door and fenced yard for furbaby to go outside. My graduate was given weekend liberty and we were able to extend our trip into Monday, the host responded quickly and made the process seamless. This is not a new property and has the charm and quirks to prove it. Overall I would definitely choose this over a hotel. Highly recommend!!"

The single bathroom is a nightmare. There a raised claw foot tub with a fixed shower head above it, this was very precarious for my elderly parents to get in and out of without assistance. The plumbing was open around the pipes and my son found a roach in the bathroom that had clearly crawled on from the subfloor. In order to get wet under the shower, you have to press yourself up against one side of the tub and even then, it’s hard to get the water to your body. After we showered, we still did not feel clean! The beds were extremely uncomfortable as is the furniture. We wished that we had booked a hotel and would not stay here again. If I could give it zero stars, I would! "

Since 2000, the lakefront city of Waukegan has gone through a gentrification and is now standing out on its own from beyond the affluent neighborhoods of Chicago’s North Shore.

Much of this growth is centered around the extensive renovation of the Genesee Theatre, a downtown icon since 1927. It has been a key performing arts venue since its reopening in 2004.

Genesee Theatre This historic theater has been restored to its former glory. The theater first opened its doors in 1927 and was designed by architect John Eberson. Today, it is home to a variety of events and performances, including concerts, movies, and stage shows.

Six Flags Great America is a renowned theme park located just a few minutes west of Waukegan. It first opened its doors in 1976 and has since become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the area. Bowen Park This lovely park in northern Waukegan was once the summer home of a succession of VIPs before it was sold to the Waukegan Park District in 1963. It was then transformed into the beautiful park with great features that it is today. You’ll find wonderful examples of the natural world, including an old-growth forest and a natural ravine. You’ll even find the Waukegan History Museum and the Jack Benny Center.

Illinois Beach State Park is a major tourist attraction in the warm summer months, where you can find young and old alike lounging in the sun, soaking up the Vitamin D, and swimming in Lake Michigan. It is 7 miles long and encompasses 4,160 acres. Additional amenities include picnic tables, campground, and park store.

Downtown Waukegan With many locally-owned businesses, a thriving arts scene, and shady tree-lined streets, check out downtown Waukegan. It was named for the inimitable Jack Benny, who grew up in Waukegan and later returned to star in the Waukegan Symphony Orchestra’s debut performance in 1974.

Ray Bradbury Experience Museum This esteemed writer was born in Waukegan and spent his early childhood here. Though he left for good at 14, Mr. Bradbury kept Waukegan in his heart and included it (in the name of Green Town) in his classic works.
