The town consists of a working mill, a couple of hairdressers a nice pub, a small coop and a super antiques shop! Ideal for those who love the outdoors. Super walks on your doorstep! The space
A large stylish peaceful attic room with a comfortable bed and settee with plenty of space.
You will have access to your own bathroom and towels, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel are provided.
A continental breakfast will be laid out in our kitchen. The kitchen is available to make tea/coffee etc and prepare packed lunch. We are happy to make space in the fridge and cupboards to store any food that guests may like to bring for packed lunches etc.
There is a secure area to store bicycles/outdoor equipment.
We also have a single room available, it is only for guests within the same party. Please enquire if you would like to book 2 rooms.

A spacious, and light room in a charming terraced house, that is conveniently situated in a quiet part of Talgarth. Approx 15 minutes from Hay on Wye and Brecon. A generous cereal and toast breakfast with coffee and tea making facilities is provided in the room. Guests have exclusive access to a private bathroom making this a self-contained accommodation that is convenient for local shows and events, walking in the Black Mountains, gliding or enjoying the historical town of Talgarth.

The space
The house is in an attractive terrace on a quiet residential street. It is bigger than it appears when viewing the outside of the property. It has been extensively renovated and redecorated throughout and has a modern bathroom on the second floor which is for exclusive use by guests. There is a powerful shower and large walk in cubicle.
Guests enter by the front door, walk through the sitting room and take the stairs up to the third floor. Please note there are steps throughout the house.
From the room there are views over the houses to Parc Wood in one direction and to Mynydd Troed in the other. The room is self-contained with an dining area and a coffee, tea and toast making station. There is plenty of space for luggage and hanging clothes.
Talgarth is a pretty town with many flower filled containers, baskets and small public gardens. The river Enig runs through the town and there are seats along the river to relax and enjoy the gardens. The house is a 5 minute walk away from the Co-op in one direction and independent shops and cafes in the other. It is close to places to eat and to Talgarth Mill, Triggs Cafe and the Mill garden.
There are bus stops to Abergavenny and Brecon nearby. The property is approx 30 minutes by car to the Royal Welsh Show site.

Guest access
There is parking on Hay Road but please do not park in front of the row of terraced houses (Dan y Garth). There is also a free car park in Talgarth (LD3 0PE) that is a 5 minute walk away.
Access to the house is through the front door. There is one low step up to the front door. There is a key safe and access to the house is discussed with the owner.

During your stay
I will have my phone with me at all times so guests can reach me at any time.
Let me know if you need anything during your stay, otherwise I'll leave you to enjoy your stay undisturbed.

Other things to note
I have a small, friendly, hypoallergenic dog (Cockerpoo) who is excitable when guests arrive but very quickly calms down. She does not have access to the guest bedroom and is kept out of the way.

There are steps throughout the house so please take care when walking through the sitting room, stepping down to the bathroom and when accessing the two flights of stairs up to the loft room. The private bathroom is on the first floor.

There is space in the lobby for coats and shoes. Please remove outdoor shoes.

Guests are requested to vacate the room by 10:30 each day

Rhiwiau is a cosy, 17th century cottage (GR 057242) (what 3 words zinc.yachting.spinning) on the side of Fan Y Big, it is surrounded by open countryside with easy access to Y Bannau Brycheiniog / the Brecon Beacons, making it ideal for hillwalking.
This is not a whole house let but we look forward to welcoming you to our home.

The space
Nestling 300 metres above sea level, Rhiwiau is surrounded by farmland and enjoys some lovely views of open countryside looking out from the Brecon Beacons to the north and west providing a good chance of a sunset. Rhiwiau is also an ideal location for star gazing with no light pollution (see photo). From here can be seen a gentle patchwork of open farm fields dotted with sheep and cattle. Birdlife around Rhiwiau is in abundance and we have spotted Red Kite, Buzzard, Barn Owls, Woodpecker, Curlews have recently returned and a pair of Ospreys are nesting in the Valley. Hares and badgers live nearby and part of our garden is the site of an ancient well, believed to date from Roman times and possibly used for baptisms. There is something for everyone!

Guest access
The guest lounge is in the 17th century part of the house with woodburner, beautiful old inglenook fireplace, part stone walls and low ceiling with exposed beams. These are thought to have been salvaged from an old ship at the time the house was built which makes them very old indeed. A microwave, single hotplate are provided for heating up for preparing simple meals and reheating takeaways. An airfryer is also available
The guest bedroom is in the newer section which was formerly a chicken shed attached to the house and was accessed via the outside. Fortunately, this is no longer the case and the route to the upstairs is now through an ancient doorway at the side of the inglenook and via the original stone stairway. Guests will enjoy a spacious “L” shaped room with great views to the north and west, kingsize bed, TV, tea making facilities and comfy seating making this a cosy and comfy room to sit in and enjoy the glorious views. In addition to the kingsize bed, this room also has a single.

During your stay
The guests lounge is in the 17th century part of the house. The lounge is equipped with fridge freezer single electric hotplate and microwave, should you want to self cater. An air fryer is also available. We will provide everything you need for a continental breakfast.
The guest room upstairs is at the north end of the house with lovely views. You will have exclusive access to the shower room and WC during your stay with easy access just a few feet from your bedroom door and these facilities will be for your sole use and separated by a door for privacy.

Please note that the price quoted is for the room based on two people sharing, but we can also accommodate small children in this room. Please contact us to discuss before booking. Continental breakfast is included within the price and includes a range of cereals, yogurt, a choice of fruit juices, toast with various preserves/jam, filter coffee and tea (Decaf available). We also provide artisan bread and a variety of fillings and sandwich bags so that you can make sandwiches to take with you.
