Fitzgerald Manor is a spacious bed & breakfast nestled in the middle of 39 acres, five miles up from the northern shores of Lake Superior.
Constructed from 2002-2004 The Manor was designed by Becky & Mark to be a beautiful gathering place to spread out and enjoy each other’s company.
Fitzgerald Manor is a true BnB, we live on site, residing on the 3rd floor. After breakfast there is a small amount of interaction. We are available as little or as much as you need us to be. As far as guests sounds filtering up to the 3rd floor, the quality construction of The Manor keeps it to a minimum.
With 10,000 square feet the Manor features seven large private bedrooms each with their own private bath. All have wonderful king size beds & ceiling fans. Five guest rooms have a gas fireplace and their bathroom has a two person whirlpool tub and walk in shower. Two guest rooms have a full bathroom with combination tub/shower.
The gourmet kitchen is available for your use with two prep islands, six burner double oven stove and two full size refrigerators. There is plenty of space to enjoy including a sitting room, great room, sun room, dining room and a huge library with books, games, DVD movies, and a karaoke machine to add to the fun.
The Manor has two attached porches. The south east porch is open and covered to enjoy the views of the meadow, the grazing deer or the summer fire flies. The south west porch is open for that barbeque feast and visiting around the picnic table.
Large groups are welcome with 6 additional twin size beds that can be set up in either the bedrooms or the student study room. All of the sleeping areas are located on the 2nd floor.
There is ample parking on blacktop.
Like all true BnB’s we offer a wonderful homemade hot breakfast each morning and typically serve at 9am.
The manor’s third floor is constructed to block noise so guest activities are not noticed.

This is our Jacuzzi room with king bed and full bathroom. One five rooms that we rent. We usually rent all five in a group but occasionally we rent them individually. You have two kitchen area available to store and make food and coffee is available. Large sitting area to relax and watch TV. We also have a 20" x 40" pool and an outside 10 person hot tub to share with other guests. Nice peaceful country setting between Duluth and Two Harbors with view of Lake Superior. Cozy, studio type guesthouse in a rural setting, conveniently located between Duluth and Two Harbors. The house is complete with a queen Sleep Number bed, bathroom, small kitchen and private deck. Our home and a small hobby farm are on site.
The space
The kitchen includes a small dorm fridge, microwave, two burner stove, toaster oven, Keurig, a small coffee maker, basic cookware, tableware, utensils, large sink, and large counter top. There is no freezer.
There is a small dining room table that seats two comfortably, four of you pull the table out from against the wall. There is also a small table and two chairs on the private deck.
The bathroom includes a shower and toilet. There is no bathroom sink; the kitchen sink is steps from the bathroom.
There is a window A/C unit and ceiling fan for your comfort. There is also a small heater you can plug in on chilly nights.
The guest house is located above a garage/workshop (which we rarely use). There are exterior steps leading to the entry, therefore this house is not wheelchair accessible. Our home is across the driveway.
Free wifi, of course. Please note there is no TV.
The small couch pulls out into a twin bed, ideal for a child. It is suitable for an adult, just know that the bed and pull-out couch are in close proximity of each other. A pack 'n play is available upon request.

A walk through the park next door takes you into historic downtown Two Harbors. Continue past the train depot and hop on the walking trail that takes you to Lighthouse Point and along the shore of Lake Superior for another mile, down to Burlington Bay. By crossing over Hwy 61, and walking through the golf course parking lot, the trail continues on and makes a big loop of Two Harbors . It's a beautiful 4-mile walk/run and a great way to see the town. Lots of bikers use this paved trail, as well.

Swan Forest Loft is ideal to explore the North Shore of Lake Superior with its 7 state parks. We are located 4 miles from Gooseberry Falls State Park with the start of the Gitchi Gami bicycle trail and 2 miles from a Superior Hiking Trail head. Walk up 15 stairs to a comfortable, spacious 2 bedroom apartment with balcony. It feels like a tree house with modern amenities. The kitchen has a two-burner ceramic stove top, microwave with oven, toaster, hot water kettle, fridge and coffee maker.
The space
The apartment is set in a forest. You are surrounded by cedar and pine trees and the host's garden. There is a wood stove plus electric heating and a high open ceiling. The space is not handicap accessible.
Guest access
You are welcome to walk to the creek, use the swing, and generally look around. There is no fire pit at this time for guest use. There is, however, a grill you can set up in the driveway to cook on. Bring your own charcoal.

This is a great choice if you are looking for a night to get out of the city. Our property is about a 30–35-minute drive north of Duluth Mn.
With the unit, there is an outdoor picnic table and fire pit for you to use. We do offer firewood at the lodge at cost, or feel free to bring your own safe materials to burn. During the summer months (May- September only) you'll have access to a private dock that is steps away from your front door. Use this space for fishing, swimming, floating or boat storage during your stay.

The space
85 acres of wooded property to explore. Walk around the pond or relax in the screen room and enjoy the Lake Superior views with ore boats coming and going daily.
Guest access
Besides a comfortable room in this newly constructed timber frame home, guests have access to the loft, bonus room with exercise equipment and tv, living room, screen room and firepit.
Other things to note
Guest rooms are upstairs with hosts residing on main floor. There is an additional half bath on the main floor for guest use. We kindly ask that shoes are not worn upstairs. Also please do not eat in your room, but enjoy several dining areas provided on the main floor.

The space
The Merryweather Inn was built in 1904 for William J Olcott. The Olcotts earned their fortune through mining and railroad. They had their own personal train car which carried the family around the country. Olcott worked directly for John D Rockefeller. Rockefeller and his family even slept in the house in 1928! During his time at US Steel Olcott supervised 40,000 employees. He later became president of Missabe Northern Railroad. Mrs. Olcott was well respected in society, and many people would come to her for advice. Her daughters were modern, well-educated girls and often traveled with their father to the mines.
After the death of Mrs. and Mr. Olcott, in 1937, the daughters were unable to sell the house, so it was nearly demolished. The University, (Minnesota Teacher’s College) saved it from destruction and used it as the music hall. All the rooms were converted to practice rooms and study rooms. The marching band and orchestra practiced in the ballroom.
When the school outgrew the building in 1957, it became a Finnish seminary and radio station. It was also used as a boarding house until 1995.
The House is a 10,000 square foot Georgian Colonial and cost $140,000 to build in 1904, To put that into perspective, other houses in the neighborhood of similar size and time frame cost around $50,000. To rebuild the mansion today, the average cost for such extravagance would be roughly $300/sq. ft. It was turned into a Bed and Breakfast in 1997 and was formerly known as the Olcott House B&B.
