Cabin
Two Harbors, Minnesota, USA

Welcome to our cabin! This fully renovated cabin is perfectly located, close to the North Shore and the most amazing state parks in Minnesota. While our cabin is conveniently located for adventure, it’s also far enough away to offer the seclusion needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The cabin sits on 20 acres of wooded bliss with ease of access for snowmobile or ATV riders as the North Shore Trail connects to the back of our property. Enjoy a quiet evening by the fire or relax in our wood burning sauna.
Located just 12 miles to Two Harbors and 13 miles to Beaver Bay, you will find many restaurants to explore and shops to take in. When you’re looking for great hiking, we are located just 12 miles to Gooseberry falls. As you continue up the shore you’ll find Split Rock Lighthouse, Tettegouche, George Crosby Manitou and Temperance River. While all of these parks offer amazing hikes and views, our favorite is Grand Portage State Park just at the border of Canada. It will take about an hour and a half to two hours to get there but well worth the drive. Then on your way back, you can stop in at all the other wonderful parks along the way.
The fall time is the best time to be at the cabin. Crisp, cool nights with little bugs make evening camp fires perfect. Be sure to look up while sitting by the fire at night to catch some amazing star gazing. Being so far from the city lights, it’s amazing what you can see at night! Perfectly situated amongst the tall pine trees, it’s perfect!
While we’re sure you’ll spend most of your time enjoying all the north shore has to offer, you’ll be pleased to know that inside, our cabin has all you’d ever need. The full kitchen is ready for you to enjoy, two bedrooms each with queen beds and a sleeper sofa with a full bed ensures you’ll have enough room to sleep everyone. The bathroom also tends to be a favorite of guests with the custom tiled shower!
Feel free to bring your ATV with easy access to the North Shore. This is a great way to see the fall colors at your own speed!
If you book a specific weekend, we’d suggest looking at www.northshorevistor.com to see what events are happening on the shore. You never know what fun you’ll find!
We hope you’ll find our cabin as enchanting as we do and welcome any questions you might have!
Welcome to the North Shore!

- "This cabin was a perfect place to stay for our trip to North Shore. It was 15 miles from the Lake and all the tourist attractions, and we had all the privacy and Northwoods beauty we wanted. My nephew was especially ecstatic when he found out there was Roku TV, even though he was limited on the time he could watch. The cabin is very well maintained and clean. The outbuildings are also kept up and there is a fire pit available for the the evenings. We didn't get to use the sauna, but I'm sure it would have been fun. The state trail is close by if you like to hike. Bring lots of bug spray!!! Awesome place!!"

This cabin is like walking into a iconic Minnesota cabin. It feels like home; its cozy, warm, and would be a perfect vacation spot for any time of year. The lake is the cherry on top, its fantastic to watch the sunset down by the dock. It is also a great fishing spot. This cabin had us make memories, happiness, and cozy dinners at the table. It smells of nature in and out, its absolutely perfecf. Its quiet and a great place to regroup from regular life. I would recommend this cabin to anyone at any time of year. A Quiet Getaway Close to Popular North Shore Attractions
Cabin
Two Harbors, Minnesota, USA

The Beaver Lodge is cleaned and disinfected between guest stays, which are usually two days or longer. Lots of wildlife and close to points of interest. Our property is remote, extremely clean, thoroughly disinfected, and ready for your stay. If you have any questions about the cabin or area, please don't hesitate to message us.

This approximate 1400 sq. ft. cabin is located on one of the largest privately owned parcels (over 700 acres) nestled in between Gooseberry State Park, Split Rock State Park, and Iona’s Beach Scientific and Natural Area. It is located less than 2 miles from Lake Superior off Highway 61, about 15-20 minutes from Two Harbors or Silver Bay. There is over 7 miles of undeveloped shoreline that include designated trout streams and tributaries that provide some of the highest quality habitat ratings of any stream in the Gooseberry River sub-watershed. There are several large beaver dams that provide habitat for a large variety of birds and wildlife. It also includes several types of wetlands, marshes, and forest communities that provide an abundance of diversity for a multitude of habitat for birds, large mammals, and aquatic wildlife. The ultra-private and secluded location is gated for ultimate privacy, quiet, and relaxation. To access all of this beauty is an extensive private network (literally miles) of periodically mowed trails between 8 and 20 feet wide for low impact use. The private trails cover a plethora of the property to access this remote wilderness for pleasure, exercise, or photography. If desired, Superior Hiking Trail access is located just 1 ½ miles down the driveway from the cabin.

Our cabin is off-grid, no internet, land line phone, or grid power, but has power supplied from solar and a generator that runs automatically when needed, which is not very often. In rare instances on the hottest summer days, the cabin has air conditioning when natural ventilation is just a little too uncomfortable. So even though it is off-grid, it has all of the basic modern amenities we enjoy; you really don’t know it is off-grid. Our cabin is completely furnished and supplied with everything you would need, other than food, to make your stay memorable and enjoyable. There is a large kitchen and living/dining area, 2 bedrooms downstairs, bathroom with shower, and a loft for a few extra guests. We have local tv and stereo for those days you just want to kick back or use on rainy days. We have a few movies and LP’s to watch and listen to. Cell phone service is available from AT&T and Verizon, but can be limited depending on the device (Apple, great service Android, limited service - both on Verizon). The kitchen has pots, pans, and an abundance of utensils available for all of your cooking and/or baking needs. We have a BBQ grill and everything needed to flip, poke, or grab for your grilling needs. All of this overlooking a beautiful stream you can see and hear right next to the cabin. On clear nights the stars and northern lights can be phenomenal to see as there isn't any light pollution for miles.

We enjoy this as our family cabin and hope that you will respect, enjoy, and care for it as much as we do. The cabin is meticulously cleaned after each stay, but we would greatly appreciate if you leave the cabin as you found it… clean. We are available for any questions or concerns and are happy to provide you with an informative summary of the cabin, amenities, or other information that would make your stay more satisfying.

Please consider the following before booking:

We do occasionally stop in to the cabin’s garage (located over 500 feet from the cabin with ample tree coverage for privacy) to perform maintenance on equipment, trails, or drop off some supplies. We will respect your privacy, but we still have to maintain the property when Mother Nature’s or our schedules allow.

This cabin is remote and has over 3 miles of forestry and private road. On occasion, with wet weather there can be some rutting in a couple of spots, so those with low clearance vehicles would be advised not to book this cabin. If you’re not sure, just contact us, we maintain the whole road. We will not be responsible for damage to your vehicle. Upon prior request and approval, we could transport you to the cabin in our vehicle or ATV.

Being an off-grid cabin supplied by solar/generator, please be conscious of electrical usage. Please shut off the lights to keep unnecessary usage to a minimum in order for us to keep our generation costs down and keep our footprint small.

The wildlife is wild here, and most of them are more afraid of you than you are of them, but remember, they are WILD and not domesticated! Yes, bears and other wildlife $h!t in the woods and occasionally on the driveway and yard. We also take every effort to minimize little critters from entering the buildings, we use traps and bait, but on rare occasions we do get a mouse or shrew. If you find this offensive, this isn’t the place for you.

Absolutely no ATV’s/UTV’s are allowed on the trail system; ATV’s/UTV’s must stay on your trailers if you bring them.

No coolers in the cabin. Coolers left in the enclosed porch for convenience must not leak. Any damage to the flooring will be charged accordingly.

We prefer you recycle as much as possible; this eliminates a lot of garbage. Being the cabin is so remote, we take care of the garbage. On extended stays, we will routinely stop by to pick it up.

There is no smoking indoors, including the porches or around the buildings. For those that do have a smoke, please do it outside and away from the buildings, and please dispose of your butts properly.

The cabin has a septic system that handles human wastes and toilet paper. Please do not flush anything else such as sanitary products or wipes; there is a trash receptacle in the bathroom for those items.

Absolutely no pets. Your terms of a responsible pet owner and mine may differ, and irresponsible owners and pets can cause thousands of dollars in damage. If a pet is found to be brought on the property, you will be required to leave immediately and the rental fee and deposit will be forfeited.

A fire-pit is available to use carefully and responsibly. There is kindling and fire wood for your use.

We do have limited outside chairs and seating on the deck, but for larger groups you may want to bring a few of your own.

No hunting or shooting firearms during your stay.

We understand that accidents happen. We ask that you please let us know when they do; we can probably fix them as effortlessly as possible, which also means better chances of having your full security deposit returned too.

Please refrain from entering any outbuildings on the property (garage, shed, or pole building).

Guest Reviews:

- "The cabin is a comfortable, quiet home base for hiking on the North Shore. The property itself is great to wander in as well. It was so nice, after a day of vigorous hiking, to come home, have a shower, make some dinner, and relax on a comfy sofa with a book, then sit on the deck and look at the stars." - "It was an awesome cabin just off northshore. It was quiet and well removed for the main roads. Had a great time with our friends and had the time and space to enjoy company"

Notes: Please use the supplies prudently and save some for the next guests. The swimming raft off the dock is not ours.. it’s the neighbors so do not use it. Do not strip bark from trees. Do not take firewood from neighbor’s stacks.

Whatever you decide to do, have a great vacation! Life is short, enjoy it!

Firewood note: Please enjoy a bonfire on me, but past a certain point, I would appreciate compensation ($) in order to keep it stocked. I’d rather have you burn my wood than 1.) run to Hugo’s for a $10 bundle, 2.) strip birch bark 3.) take wood from my neighbor.

Please support local businesses! Hugos and Pequwayan Inn are very welcoming of guests. Please support them.

Guest Reviews:

- "This low stress, gorgeous spot hit all the checkmarks for a quick escape." - "Beautiful peaceful stay by the lake! Loved it!" - "My friends and I stayed here to get away and just unwind. It was perfect!!! I slept in the Queen bed and I slept so good! The water is clear. We enjoyed coffee on the dock. We brought kayaks and took a cruise each morning. During the day we went to Hugo’s for the Brimson Market and Two Harbor for pies at Betty’s. We found a lil book nook that we loved in town and enjoyed browsing the neat stuff at Burlington Station. Note: the Wi-Fi did not work. Only a AT&T worked at the cabin. Wasn’t a big deal to us since we were unplugging but for emergencies it would be nice. The wood provided was wet (it rained while we were there) so we grabbed some from Hugo’s. We were able to drop our garbage off at Pequaywan Inn For $5 - that place is definitely on our to do list on our next trip. Bring bug spray for the flies. :) Highly recommend for a little getaway! We will be back."

- "Good location, loved the trails nearby and the proximity to things to do in two harbors like castle danger brewing. Small but cozy cabin. Would definitely stay again. " - "Good stay overall. Great location. As advertised." - "The fishing-related décor caters better to males than females. There was a musty odor that was noticeable upon entry but not overbearing. Otherwise, everything was very good. The bed is only full-size but quite comfortable, and the shower is very nice. The weather was cold (for June) while we were there, but the gas stove heated the cottage thoroughly. We made use of the blankets stored under the bed, which were also very nice. The location is awesome, with Lake Superior directly across the street and a hike/bike trail right there. I would gladly rent this property again, but my wife probably wouldn't. Many thanks for everything."

Guest Reviews:

- "Really cute place and would stay again. Clean and thoughtful decor. Sleeping spaces/options worked well for two adults and 2 young kids. They even had a couple of toys and games which our kids loved. A good launching place to explode the north shore. The only complaint is that cookware was pretty limited, few food storage items, and knives were poor quality. Might not matter if you’re eating out the whole time, but we enjoy cooking, so these items could be improved/replenished. I did request a nonstick pan, as the two there were in rough shape. They brought us a new one the next day. "

Cabin & Treehouse by Jay Cooke State Park/Duluth Trails
Cabin
Esko, Minnesota, USA

A fantastic, modern cabin on 5 private acres and your own custom treehouse with a bird's eye view over the trees! Right next to the beautiful Jay Cooke State Park and the St. Louis river, and only blocks to a dedicated bike path going 4 miles to Carlton or 15 miles to all of the restaurants, breweries, and activities in Duluth. Relax in a grove of towering pines with enough hammocks and swings for the whole family. Enjoy the fully enclosed screen porch, outdoor grill, fire ring, and dining area.

Your stay at Baumhaus includes the cabin AND a separate treehouse!

The custom treehouse built by the hosts and namesake of the property is an absolute treasure. It includes an outdoor deck and bar seating and an indoor hangout space with room for you to relax or nap in the loft net. The treehouse is a THREE SEASON space! Regrettably, if you visit from November to March, depending on the timing of winter storms, the treehouse will be closed and not accessible. The treehouse has no power or heating, and the ladder would be icy and unsafe in winter. Just remember, you can always come back during spring, summer, and fall! Message us if you want to plan a stay around the treehouse seasons!

Baumhaus cabin is a newly built, year-round, modern cabin with cozy and beautiful furnishings. The goal was comfort inside and connection to nature outside.

The open great room includes a fully supplied kitchen with quality appliances, a huge island work surface, and counter seating. The dining table can expand from 4 to 6 seats. The living room focal point can be the panoramic windows to the forest and ravine, the electric fireplace, or a smart TV.

There are 2 comfortable bedrooms with queen beds, luxury mattress toppers (one medium and one soft), and plenty of pillows.

The third "bedroom" is an upper level open loft with two additional full beds. Please note that the loft access stairs are steep and are similar to a loft ladder. The loft stairs may not be safe or accessible to young children or guests with mobility limitations.

The full bath has a shower and kid friendly tub, but big enough for adults. Try the heated washlet / bidet seat and see what everyone is raving about, or don't, that's OK too. The second half bath gives your group more room to get ready for your adventures.

The fully enclosed screen porch is a must for relaxing in Minnesota in the summer. Feel the breeze and hear the birds, and not the mosquitos.

The outdoor spaces include a deck dining table for 6, a picnic table perched on the edge of the ravine, a fire pit, wood pellet grill and smoker, and multiple hammocks, swings, and hanging chairs.

We hope you will get out into nature, but on those rainy days, we have fiber internet for the smart TV and wifi, and we also have a cell booster antennae inside (your cell signal will be stronger in the cabin than outside).

There is plenty of parking and FREE level 2 EV charging.

If you come prepared for adventures, you are in for a treat. There are endless opportunities for hiking, biking, skiing, boating, and sightseeing minutes away. Your hosts are always happy to make recommendations and will share a local trail guide. If you need some downtime, the property will not disappoint. Grab a blanket and enjoy some crisp evening air. Free fire wood at the fire ring. Games, puzzles, and kids toys are available. The living room has Sonos bluetooth speakers, and guests can use battery lanterns with built-in speakers to safely stargaze outside or keep the music going across the property.

Linens are free from fragrances and cleaning supplies meet the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) standards that protect against irritation. Our cleaning fee covers most of the actual cost of cleaning services and laundry and helps minimize cumbersome guest tasks. We ask for dishes to go in the dishwasher, games and toys to be put away, and any rearranged dining chairs to be returned. The outdoor spaces are fantastic and they are cleaned with the cabin, but expect that they may already have dust, pollen, leaves, etc. that guests may prefer to clean again with provided supplies.

You'll have our entire cabin and treehouse (spring to fall) which sits on 5 acres of land. There is a gravel driveway with a 2 car parking pad.

The property includes portions of "Hemlock Ravine" that are very steep and prone to erosion and landslides. The property line is not marked, and the adjacent state-owned Hemlock Ravine SNA has designated all land within the ravine to be a sanctuary that is off limits to the public to protect fragile soil and plants. Please respect private and protected state land - the ravine is off limits to guests at all times. "Flat" areas between the ravine and road are open to explore, and if you need rugged adventures, there are many trails and places to scramble at Jay Cooke State Park.

You will use a PIN code to open a keybox to obtain a door key and return the key to the keybox at checkout.

This cabin was designed and built specifically for use as a rental, and your hosts block off a few weeks a year to enjoy as well. While the rental includes the complete cabin, there are a few locked cabinets inside for the owners' belongings that are not accessible to guests.

Guest Reviews:

- "There were “oohs” and “aah’s” when we first entered the main cabin. The kitchen and it’s amenities were amazing! We were 8 seniors who came to the North Shore for 1 1/2 days of non-ending bridge playing. The weather was horrible, but we didn’t mind a bit; we had plenty of food & beverages to keep us happy for the two days we were there. The guest cabin was “cute”, but much older than the main cabin. Guests didn’t “love” it and used it only for sleeping. The 2nd floor bathroom was awkward as we had to go through the main bedroom to get to the bathroom which only had 2 sets of towels for 4 people. But over-looking those 2 things, we loved the property with it’s interesting art and book collection. We will definitely consider coming back again next year."

1950’s one bedroom cabin, about ten feet off of Lake Superior. The property has a long driveway leading down to the garage above which is an in-laws apartment. Follow the wooden walkway 100 feet down to the cabin.

You’ll pass through the screened in porch where you can sit in the rocking chairs, read, and enjoy the breeze off of the lake.

Entering the house you find the full kitchen big enough to comfortably cook a thanksgiving meal and a four-person dining table.

The living room is very spacious with a large gas fireplace, panoramic views, and comfortable couch (admire the timeless 90’s plaid pattern :-). No other houses are visible from the property so you’ll have lots of privacy while you enjoy the lake.

The bedroom has a view East over the water and a queen size bed. The hide-a-bed is easy, comfortable and queen size. There is a door between the living room and the rest of the house for privacy.

We may be at the apartment above the garage during your visit. If you want to meet us and get suggestions on what to do during your visit we are more than happy to chat and help. However, if you are looking for a private get-away, we will stay out of your way. There are only two small windows facing the garage from the cabin so you may not even notice we are there.

Guest access
Guests have keys to access the cabin. This is a separate structure from the garage and in-laws apartment to which you will not have access.

Read on the sunny deck, skip rocks on the lake, build a fire on the rocks or in the fireplace, watch a summer lightning storm, explore Split Rock and Gooseberry Falls State Parks, bike, ski, snowshoe, enjoy local breweries, tasty smoked fish, and our own wild raspberries.

The space

Other things to note
Deer, seagulls, and humming birds are regular visitors to our property. Look out for families of loons, ducks, or geese on the lake. Once in a while you may spot a bald eagle overhead! MCM Urban Woodland Cabin w/ Finnish Sauna
Cabin
Duluth

You just might forget how centrally located you are to all things we love about Duluth; bike one block to the Duluth Traverse Mountain Bike Trail or walk just a smidge more to the Superior Hiking Trail. Awesome in the summer with concerts in the park, but seriously fantastic in the snowy months too! Next to these trails, the Chester Bowl Nordic ski trails & the Chester Bowl ski and snowboard hill. After a day of activity, come back to "The Slab" to sauna in a traditional Finnish sauna.

The space
The Nerdy Stuff: The Chester Slab was the first passive-solar home built in Duluth. This type of design is well-synched with nature; situated on a hill with south-facing views of Lake Superior, the floor to ceiling windows take advantage of the low sun in the winter months to heat the concrete slab when the surrounding trees drop their leaves to let the light in. When the weather warms and the leaves return to the trees, the home is shaded and cool and the sun is higher in these months, not making it in past the southern extended roofline. The concrete slab, ala "Chester Slab", retains the coolness from the evening, and if buttoned up, the home naturally stays cooler.

Cabin & Treehouse by Jay Cooke State Park / Duluth
Cabin

A fantastic, modern cabin on 5 private acres and your own custom treehouse with a bird's eye view over the trees! Right next to the beautiful Jay Cooke State Park and the St. Louis river, and only blocks to a dedicated bike path going 4 miles to Carlton or 15 miles to all of the restaurants, breweries, and activities in Duluth. Relax in a grove of towering pines with enough hammocks and swings for the whole family. Enjoy the fully enclosed screen porch, outdoor grill, fire ring, and dining area.

The space
Your stay includes the cabin AND a separate treehouse!

Guest access
You'll have our entire cabin and treehouse (spring to fall) which sits on 5 acres of land. There is a gravel driveway with a 2 car parking pad.

The property includes portions of "Hemlock Ravine" that are very steep and prone to erosion and landslides. The property line is not marked, and the adjacent state-owned Hemlock Ravine SNA has designated all land within the ravine to be a sanctuary that is off limits to the public to protect fragile soil and endangered plants.
