- "My husband and I loved staying at the cabin for one week. We didn't want to leave! The cabin is set close to the lake with a beautiful view. We spent a lot of time on the lake fishing, swimming, and exploring. We enjoyed having access to various watercraft (i.e. canoe, fishing boat, pontoon boat, paddle board...there were other craft available too). The fishing was quite good (my husband caught several pike). The water was clear and refreshing. The hosts were friendly and responsive. The location is close enough to make trips into town. The cabin is very basic, but had what we needed. I would love to stay here again!"

- "It was a girls weekend!! We had a great time despite the weather not being the best. We made the most of it. The cabin was clean and quaint, just enough room for us. There is very spotty wifi but we were not there to be on electronics. The Pontoon Boat was very nice and we enjoyed our time out on the small lake. The paintings on the walls and in the office are amazing. It would have been nice to have a fire pit at the cabin, however we did use the one on the beach."

This two bedroom cabin overlooking Jasper Lake has a yard and deck, and is surrounded by vegetation for privacy. There is a full kitchen, bathroom, and living room with dining table, two recliners, and a couch. Bedroom 1 has one double bed, bedroom 2 has a double and a twin bed. Outside, the deck overlooks the lake and has a picnic table and extra chairs. There is a gas grill.

Welcome to our Lake Burntside 4 Season retreat. This newer hand scribed 1,700 square foot log cabin on 2 acres of property and 200’ of frontage on the pristine waters of Lake Burntside is only 9 miles from Ely town ctr and minutes to the boundary waters canoe area.

The open plan cabin has a master bedroom and full bathroom on the main level as well as a loft with full bath, sleeping up to 8 in beds. It has a fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, great views and large patio overlooking the lake as well as a new barrel sauna down by the water and dock.

In the summer, use our canoe or keep your boat on the dock as you enjoy fishing, watersports, canoeing and endless water activity on the +7,000 acre Lake Burntside known for its crystal clear waters as well as it’s fishery of Lake Trout, Whitefish, Walleye, Northern, perch and pan fish . For winter, the home is well insulated with heated floors so take advantage of abundant cross country and snowmobile trails (snowmobile trail passes right by property on lake) or enjoy snowshoeing, ice fishing, dogsledding, or just relaxing with hot cocoa or wine in front of the fire. Enjoy fall colors by taking a hike on one of the many trails within minutes of the cabin.

Welcome to our beautiful year round cabin on Eagles Nest Lake, located between Tower and Ely Minnesota. Enjoy fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking or just a relaxing swim in the summer. Winter brings ice fishing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, or snowshoeing right from your back door. What ever the season, you can end your day in our sauna or sit by the fire pit roasting marshmallows while listening to the call of the loons. Cabin has fabulous views of the lake from the dining room, living room and lower level family room. Step out onto the deck from the upstairs living room to enjoy a meal or game.

With approximately 1700 square feet of living space combined on two levels, your group will not feel cramped. Downstairs area includes bedroom with queen size bed and full bathroom. Also a futon and TV in living area, with game table and electric sauna. Walk out to patio with picnic table and BBQ grill. Upstairs includes bedroom with queen size bed, full bathroom, dining area, fully stocked kitchen, including microwave, dish washer, coffee pot, toaster, electric griddle, waffle iron, deep fryer, crock pot and electric roaster. Living area upstairs has gas fireplace, 42 inch HD TV with Dish satellite and DVD player, games and puzzles. Cabin also includes internet with WIFI.

Cabin plumbing is a filtered lake water system, so we recommend guests use bottled water for drinking and/or cooking. There is an electric water cooler for cold water only inside the cabin. This cooler holds the 3-5 gallon jugs. Water is not furnished by owner.

Outdoor amenities include fire pit, lounge chairs, 10ft row boat, (no motor),and 2 canoes all with paddles and various sizes of life vests. We strongly encourage the use of life vests, especially with children and the non-swimmer.

Eagles Nest Lakes #1 and #2 are 730 acres combined, connected by a 75 foot channel. Clarity is 20+ feet with a maximum depth of approximately 76 feet. Fish information can be found on the Minnesota DNR website. Area attractions include Bear Head Lake State Park, Soudan Underground Mine State Park, Ely shopping and restaurants, Fortune Bay Casino, International Wolf Center, North American Bear Center, Dorothy Molter Museum, Kawishiwi Falls, Boundary Waters Canoe area, Ely Golf Course, Miniature Golf, hiking and biking trails, bird watching.

Moose cabin is a rustic log cabin with a kitchen with a water cooler to be filled from outdoor spigot, a dining area, a bedroom with a queen size bed and two twin beds in an enclosed sleeping porch and a nearby bathhouse with hot showers, lavatory sinks, and latrine toilets. Armstrong Lake is west of the cabins and therefore offers nightly sunset viewing at lakeside seating with a firepit for bonfires. Canoes and kayaks are available for use on the lake. A gravel swim beach near the ample lakeside seating provides fun family gathering. Nearby attractions include Wolf and Bear Centers, a mining museum, day canoe trips in the Boundary Waters, hiking or biking on nearby Mesabi Trail, and shopping for gear, apparel or local art in Ely.

Wolf Cabin is Wilderness Wind's smallest and most secluded cabin near the shore of Armstrong Lake. This adorable one bedroom cabin with kitchenette and kitchen table is at the end of the road and is quiet and private but has access to all the amenities of the Wilderness Wind resort. The kitchen sink has a water cooler to be filled from outdoor spigot and a half refrigerator, a stove, and a microwave. Hot showers, lavatory sinks, and latrine toilets are a short walk though lovely birch woods, in the bathhouse. Down the grassy path in front is the swimming area with lakeside seating for sunset viewing, access to canoes and kayaks, and a fire pit for bonfires. This cabin is a special intimate place for a couple looking for a romantic getaway from which to base hiking and biking on the Mesabi Trail and day trip canoeing in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Shopping for apparel, outdoor gear, and local art can be found in Ely as well as some really fine quality dining experiences. Want to get away alone and get in touch with nature and your quiet side? This a great solo cabin for journaling, photography day trips, working on art or planning projects, catching up on your reading, or just plain relaxing in a beautiful natural setting.

Loon Cabin at Wilderness Wind is a rustic log cabin that sleeps four people near the shore of Armstrong Lake in the areas of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. This quaint cabin has a kitchen with water cooler, refrigerator, and stove, a dining area, a bedroom with a queen bed and twin bunk beds, and hot showers, lavatory sinks, and latrine toilets in the nearby bath house. There is seating for guests around a fire pit on the shore of Armstrong Lake. Guests can swim, use the canoes or kayaks to paddle the lake, and use the resort as their base to to take day paddles into the Boundary Waters or hike or bike the nearby Masabi trail, visit local attractions, or shop for outdoor attire and gear and local art in nearby Ely.

This cabin is nestled on a private island in the middle of Shagawa Lake in Ely, MN. from the dock or the sunset spot, you will enjoy expansive views of both sunrises and sunsets coupled with the sounds of waves lapping on the surrounding shores. You will enjoy the simplicity of nature just a short boat ride to downtown Ely and all its attractions. This comfortably furnished and modern cabin has one bedroom with a full bed and an upper loft with two twin beds. The kitchen includes a built in two burner cook top and a propane refrigerator. Equipped with fishing boat with motor, a canoe, a private dock, a gas grill, a state park fire pit, quiet generator or solar power, battery powered shower head and rainwater collection system. Drinking water, bathroom towels, kitchen towels, hot pads, linens, garbage bags and, toilet paper are provided. The cabin has an open format, with blackout curtains and blinds. There is no running water. The bathroom features a compost toilet, and there is a recently built outhouse.

The cabin caretaker will bring you to the cabin upon your arrival. The Grand Ely Lodge provides parking for our guests as well as access to their marina.

The cabin complex is very private, it sits on over 3 acres of land and has over 300 feet of lake shore for you to enjoy on your vacation.

Burntside Lake is considered the most beautiful lake in Minnesota. This vary large lake has crystal clear water, many cabin owners drink the water right out of the lake. The lake has many miles of undeveloped lake shore and over 200 islands fill the large lake. The lakes northwest shore is adjacent to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, with direct access into the BWCAW available.

We are located 7 miles form the village of Ely Minnesota. Ely is one of the Midwest's vacation hubs, centered in the heart of the Superior National Forest and Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW).

The Ely area is able to provide almost everything you need in the way of services and products, shopping, entertainment and attractions such as many nearby outstanding (nationally rated) golf courses, the International Wolf Center, the North American Bear Center, the large Native American Casino, shopping in Ely's many unique gift shops and the area's many restaurants along with all the various outdoor activities.

Build over 80 years ago, the cabin constructed on the lakes edge, provide wide views of this spectacular lake. The log cabin has two bedrooms, a double bed in one and two twin beds in the other, with a rollaway bed available. Occupancy is 5 persons. Extra people sleep in the screen house. All linens and towels are provided. The log cabin has a half bath; the shower is located in the sauna/bath house. The sauna has a dressing/setting room and large wood heated sauna bathing room, wood for the sauna is provided. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas range, large refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, plus cookware, dishes and utensils. There is Dish TV. Outside is a gas BBQ and picnic table on the patio. There is no phone or internet service at the cabin. Cell phone signal is picked up for Verizion phones in front of the garage, top of the hill located at the drive way entrance into the property.

Watch the loons on the lake and listen to them talk to each other. There is a wide variety of wild life on the land and traveling though it, duck, eagles flying over the cabin, I have seen Moose walk around the cabins, deer are present as they like eating the ceder trees, rabbits, red fox, squirrels, chipmunks, many variety of birds.
Did I mention there are a lot of fish in Burntside Lake to be caught by fisherman and fisherwoman.

The sauna was a big draw for us since it was on the chillier side this year. The dock is perfect, you can cannonball right off of it into the clean waters of Burntside. Cabin was tidy, linens nice, and it had everything we needed to cook. We will be back, this is a gem."

This charming cabin, only 19' from the Shagawa Lake shoreline, was recently remodeled with guest comfort in mind. It welcomes you with panoramic windows for beautiful lake views from the open concept main room that includes the kitchen, living room, and dining area. New appliances, gas fireplace, washer and dryer, walk-in shower, bedding and towels allow our guests to focus on vacationing.

The cabin has two bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and the other with two twin beds. In addition, the living room has a comfortable queen size pull-out bed.

Enjoy a delicious cup of SK Coffee, a variety of teas, or a cup of hot cocoa, complete with marshmallows, as you take in a glorious sunrise. The kitchen is stocked with all the tools you need to prepare your meals. In addition to the electric range, the chef will appreciate the choice of gas or charcoal grilling. Reliable WiFi is provided for those working remotely.

Outside, a fire pit surrounded with six chairs will provide hours of fun. Imagine the tall tales of the day spent fishing, your family reconnecting as you enjoy a favorite beverage and food while the kids play along the shore, or quietly relaxing while the waves lap on the rocks and a loon's cry can be heard in the distance while the fire crackles and snaps.

Shagawa Lake is known for its great fishing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, and dog sledding. During summer a dock is available for our guests (boat not included). The cabin is peaceful and provides the feeling of being away from it all, yet it’s only a ten minute drive to the city of Ely. The county road where the cabin is located is part of the ATV/UTV trail system and at the south end of the legendary Echo Trail leading to multiple Boundary Waters Canoe Area entry points. Snowmobilers can access trails and the lake straight from the cabin’s parking area. (Trucks not allowed on the lake.)

Stay on your own 2 1/4 acre private island on beautiful Burntside Lake near Ely, Minnesota. One of the country's most beautiful lakes, studded with approx. 125 islands and ringed with coves and bays. Water sports paradise: swimming, snorkeling, canoeing, boating and fishing. A deep water lake of over 7000 acres. Fishing centers around Walleye, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass & Lake trout. Lake Trout & Walleye have been stocked by the DNR for decades and there is a healthy population of each.

The cabin is hand scribed logs from the Isabella area and constructed in 1984. (the outhouse is also constructed of hand scribed logs). The main level has one bedroom, kitchen, dining area, 'bathroom' consisting of a small vanity and shower, and the main living area with a wood burning stove. The area above the living area is open to the vaulted ceiling. The loft is open to the living area and has a double and single bed.

The island was 'spared' from logging in the early 1900's due to size, therefore we have first growth red pines. BEAUTIFUL!

Watch & listen to loons and ducks swim by. View sunrises and sunsets from one of the three decks. If you're lucky, you can view Aurora Boreallis from the dock.

We have an outdoor firepit for campfires or cookouts.

Since 1984 our family has enjoyed the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Our private 4.5 acres w/1200' of lakeshore reminds us of some of the most beautiful BWCA campsites that we have stayed at.

Nordico Point aims to provide a similar experience for those who still desire a wilderness experience but no longer want to portage or sleep on the ground. And paddling is 100% voluntary.

The Loon's Nest Cabin is just 25′ from the water’s edge of Farm Lake (part of the White Iron Chain of Lakes - approx 7000 acres of water and across from Entry Point 31, No Kawishiwi River). This two bedroom lakefront cabin has a large picture window has a perfect view of the lake and dock to watch the sunrise in the early morning. Or perhaps grab an Adirondack chair and a book and head out to the end of the dock for some quiet time. Aluminum canoes, sit-on-top kayaks and a paddle boat available at 'no charge'. We also rent kevlar canoes and motorboats. We are a small family owned resort just 7 miles southeast of Ely, MN.

Bear Cabin at Wilderness Wind offers a lovely respite for a romantic getaway or a fun location for a family vacation close to nature. Bear Cabin is a historic rustic log cabin with two bedrooms, a kitchen, a dining area, an enclosed porch that faces west toward the lake for sunset viewing. The kitchen has a water cooler to be filled from outdoor spigot, a refrigerator, a stove, microwave oven and coffeemaker. The nearby bath house has hot showers, lavatory sinks, and latrine toilets. Guests can use the on site canoes and kayaks to paddle beautiful Lake Armstrong. The gravel beach offers swimming in view of ample lakeside seating for family gathering. Guests can gather around the lakeshore firepit for a bonfire after enjoying the sunset over the lake.

Day trips to nearby Boundary Waters, hiking or biking on the Mesabi trail, all the amenities of shopping and sightseeing in and around nearby Ely can be enjoyed with this cabin as a base.

This cabin is owned and operated by Chicago Voyagers to benefit their objectives of offering outdoor programs such as biking, hiking, climbing, cross country skiing, and paddling to youth that might not otherwise have access to such activities. This quaint cabin has a kitchen with water cooler to be filled from outdoor spigot, refrigerator, and stove, a dining area, a bedroom with a queen bed and twin bunk beds, and hot showers, lavatory sinks, and latrine toilets in the nearby bath house. There is seating for guests around a fire pit on the shore of Armstrong Lake. Guests can swim, use the canoes or kayaks to paddle the lake, and use the resort as their base to to take day paddles into the Boundary Waters or hike or bike the nearby Masabi trail, visit local attractions, or shop for outdoor attire and gear and local art in nearby Ely.

At the top of a rolling hill surrounded by 20 acres, sits a beautiful year-round one bedroom cabin. Built by one of Ely’s top craftsman, every need is met with rustic setting and a modern twist to a very comfortable cabin. The wall of windows brings in sunshine. Thunder rolls overhead during storms and snow falls softly outside in the winter. You are inside but it feels like you are one with the weather. Truly a romantic place to stay.

The space
The kitchen is a breeze to use with a Bosch dishwasher and a 5 burner gas range. Plenty of dishes, cookware, and an extra large refrigerator are provided.

The one bathroom is downstairs complete with large shower, plenty of towels and toiletries for your use. A table for 4 is great for eating, or for playing games. A sliding door opens up to a small patio outside with views of the lake.

The bedroom loft is large with a king size bed and a hot tub, were you can sit and relax while you take in the beautiful lake views. There is a balcony off of the bedroom loft where the family can enjoy their morning coffee in quiet solitude.

A sofa bed in the downstairs living room gives more sleeping options. A cozy area for reading, watching TV, or sleeping.

Enjoy nature with plenty of trails that will keep the hikers busy. A fire pit is great fun for evening entertainment. Plenty of parking spaces and a turn around makes for easy driving down to the main road.

Bring your boat! Down the long hill and to the left on the main street is the dock area. A dock and a parking space is yours. Abundant fishing is available in this lake. A few miles down is The Lady Bug Resort where you can rent pontoon boats and they have a boat launch.

Located a few miles before Ely on 169 you are close to one of the most fun towns in Minnesota. Ely is located on the boundary waters and bustles all summer with canoe enthusiast who flock to the canoeing Mecca. All you need from a town is available in Ely. Restaurants, grocery stores, shops and outfitters.

This place is great for families, couples, fishermen, and explores. Come and rest, relax, and build family memories.

Since 1984 our family has enjoyed the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Our private 4.5 acres w/1200' of lakeshore reminds us of some of the most beautiful BWCA campsites that we have stayed at.

Nordico Point aims to provide a similar experience for those who still desire a wilderness experience but no longer want to portage or sleep on the ground. And paddling is 100% voluntary.

PS - you can launch a boat, too - small boat(16ft max - just no wake board boats allowed;)

The space
We offer Nordico Point on the BWCA "Leave No Trace" motto.

Our aim is to provide a similar experience to the Boundary Waters but w/o the portaging or sleeping on the rocks part - if you know, you know;).

But this does mean you bring your own sleeping bags/bedding, towels and toiletries. We provide toilet paper and paper towels.

Nordico Offers 4.5 private acres of Northern facing private peninsula that reminds us of a BWCA campsite. It is situated on Mitchell Lake which has no public access and only has a resort and 10 other homes on it. So this means the fishing is similar to the BWCA, as well.

We provide an aluminum canoe as well as lifejackets and paddles (in the utility room inside of the 2nd bedroom) for you enjoyment of the lake.

Our cabin has an open floor plan with stairs to an open loft with railings. There is a queen bed in the loft and two built in bunk beds and a (comfortable) pull out sofa bed in the main living area. The open kitchen has a gas stove with oven, refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker (Weber grill outside). Our bathroom has an antique claw foot tub and shower. The open floor plan is best for guests who are comfortable with each other in relatively close quarters.

Our camp is off road, off grid, on the edge of the BWCA. 2 cabins, sauna, outdoor kitchen pavilion, fire pit, beach and dock on Fall Lake near Ely. 20 minutes to town, 3 million acres of wilderness out the door. Fish, canoe, swim, explore woods and lakes. Spend your time here or use as basecamp for backcountry trips. See deer, eagles, loons, moose, bear, or hear a wolf howl in the distance. LED lanterns, propane cookstoves and refrigeration, get water from lake, or nearby well. Life on the edge.

Hand crafted log cabins, overlooking Fall Lake, each with a gas cook stove, refrigerator, and wood stove for heat. Bunks and sleeping loft in each cabin, extra cots available. Sleeps up to 11-12 adults, up to 14 if you double up a couple kids in the wider bunks. Fire pit with pavilion and outdoor kitchen for summer cookouts. Wood fired sauna 15 feet from the lake. Aluminum canoe for paddling around. 3 double outhouses for when nature calls; two older ones behind the outdoor kitchen area, one new, light one just down the trail past the upper cabin. Camp is surrounded by conservation land and backs up to the Boundary Waters wilderness. You are wrapped in the forest with the lake at your feet. Water, woods, and endless sky.

NOTE: cabins are accessible by water only! You must bring or rent a boat or canoe, we recommend Packsack Outfitters. (URL HIDDEN)
Because of this and because we are not on site, linens, pillows and towels are NOT provided. You must bring your own, or a sleeping bag. There is a clear water well at the campground, where you put it. Also bring toilet paper, paper towels, batteries for flashlights and lanterns to use during your stay. Read the house manual thoroughly! Rustic, primitive systems need understanding.

NO ROAD! Access the cabins across Fall Lake by boat, canoe, snowshoes or skis. You must bring or rent a watercraft to get there.
Sauna, old aluminum canoe, endless woods and water. Northern lights, loon song, eagles all free of charge.

Other things to note
The lakeside cabin was built by a young Finnish immigrant named Waino Maninnen in about 1930, and restored by me in the 1980's. It has a sauna built into the hillside beneath it. The hillside cabin, or "Cook's cabin" as we call it, was built by me from timber on the land in the early 1990's. Both cabins are well maintained and in regular use. I added a new tool shed and pavilion with an outdoor kitchen in 2013. My family has been coming up to this land since the 1930's,five generations now, and my siblings have several cabins further down the lake.
NOTE: Wintertime use is for experienced campers only! You must snowshoe or ski in, ice conditions on the lake must be taken into consideration, and the well pump is drained, so drinking water must be packed in. Wash up water can be gotten by chopping a hole in the ice near shore. Winter use is not for the inexperienced or faint hearted. Conditions can be very harsh, with extremely low temperatures, deep snow or high winds. Frostbite and hypothermia are real options. I love the place in wintertime, but you must know what you are doing in an off road, severe environment.

Location, location, location! Our family cabin is 17 miles from Ely but right at the start of the North Arm Trail system. A private path leads you directly to the skiing and hiking trails that meander through the Superior National Forest and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Please note motorized vehicles are not allowed on the trails. The cabin itself is light filled and warm with four different sleeping spaces, two bedrooms, a loft and a downstairs family room.

Built in 1995, our cabin offers contemporary conveniences, sizable space, and lots of privacy. The cabin is set on a hill across the road from our other cabin on Lake Burntside. The setting is very quiet and very private. This beautiful, light-filled contemporary cabin boasts large windows, an open floor plan, and modern amenities: two full bathrooms (with showers), a dishwasher, gas stove, laundry, a wood burning stove, and a small TV with DVDs. Despite the isolation of the setting, the cabin also offers premium satellite WiFi. On warmer days, sit on the deck or take a nap on the screened porch. Come evening, light the wood burning stove for a delightful retreat from the cold nights of fall and winter. Furnishings are a mixture of Scandinavian styled, mid-century, and contemporary pieces.

There are four sleeping spaces. The primary bedroom has a queen bed, the secondary bedroom has one twin bed, and the loft has two twin beds and one full-size bed. There is also a full sized sofa bed in the downstairs family room. A screened-in porch and a spacious deck invite further relaxation. Because of the ladder, we do not recommend that crawling babies, toddlers or small children stay in this cabin.

The kitchen is fully equipped for anything you want to cook or bake. We have satellite WiFi as well as games and books. Downstairs is a family room stocked with DVDs for a vintage TV and video player.

Finally, please note this is a family cabin on the edge of a wilderness area. You may still see downed logs from the great storm of 2022. Know that we intentionally leave the landscaping very natural to benefit the wildlife whose home it is.

You are welcome to bring snowmobiles but please be aware that the bank to the lake at our other property is quite steep and neighbors do not wish for vehicles to cross their property. There is a lake access about 2 miles down the road. No motorized vehicles are allowed on the North Arm Trail System.

If you are fishing, please do not dispose of entrails in the lake or near buildings. Thank you!

The nearest groceries are in the town of Ely, about a half hour drive.

Please note we have a fairly steep gravel driveway but it is graded regularly.

The space
This charming cabin, only 19' from the Shagawa Lake shoreline, was recently remodeled with guest comfort in mind. It welcomes you with panoramic windows for beautiful lake views from the open concept main room that includes the kitchen, living room, and dining area. New appliances, gas fireplace, washer and dryer, walk-in shower, bedding and towels allow our guests to focus on vacationing.

The cabin has two bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and the other with two twin beds. In addition, the living room has a comfortable queen size pull-out bed.

Enjoy a delicious cup of SK Coffee, a variety of teas, or a cup of hot cocoa, complete with marshmallows, as you take in a glorious sunrise. The kitchen is stocked with all the tools you need to prepare your meals. In addition to the electric range, the chef will appreciate the choice of gas or charcoal grilling. Reliable WiFi is provided for those working remotely.

Outside, a fire pit surrounded with six chairs will provide hours of fun. Imagine the tall tales of the day spent fishing, your family reconnecting as you enjoy a favorite beverage and food while the kids play along the shore, or quietly relaxing while the waves lap on the rocks and a loon's cry can be heard in the distance while the fire crackles and snaps.

Shagawa Lake is known for its great fishing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, and dog sledding. During summer a dock is available for our guests (boat not included). Bring your canoes or kayaks, and your pup, too! Outside there is plenty of parking for boats, trailers, and trucks making this home perfect for a wide range of sports year-round.

The cabin is peaceful and provides the feeling of being away from it all, yet it’s only a ten minute drive to the city of Ely. The county road where the cabin is located is part of the ATV/UTV trail system and at the south end of the legendary Echo Trail leading to multiple Boundary Waters Canoe Area entry points. Snowmobilers can access trails and the lake straight from the cabin’s parking area. (Trucks not allowed on the lake.)

The leaning cedar cabin is a rare remote access only find. The extra effort to ski out during the winter or paddle/motor out during the warmer months is rewarded by the quiet and private location. The cabin is perched above Farm Lake overlooking the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness to the east. The two acres of property are perfectly situated for skiing or snowshoeing on the lake and through the woods. And after a day out ice fishing, no better way to warm up than in the sauna!

The space
As described, this cabin is remote access only. There's no road leading directly to the property so you get to ski or snowshoe in the winter across the lake to the cabin. In the warmer months you can paddle or motor your boat to the dock. Guests will need to provide their own canoe or small motor boat to access the cabin (or be able to ski or snowshoe in the winter) from the Farm Lake public access launch and parking lot - the same parking lot Wilderness trippers use.

The cabin is heated by a wood burning stove and we have plenty of firewood available for you to use. Lighting is provided by propane gas lights as there is no electricity running to the cabin. This also means no wifi but there is full cell coverage at the cabin and in this area of the Wilderness.

There is a wood stove sauna building on the property as well that you will be able to use - the perfect way to warm up after a day out ice fishing, skiing or snowshoeing in the Boundary Waters.

In the summer, there are two canoes with paddles that are included with the cabin for you to use for trips into the Boundary Waters.

This is your chance to get away from it all and have the comforts of a cabin as close to the Wilderness as you can get.

The full cabin is available as is the sauna. The boat house by the water has small kayaks, 2 canoes and paddles for your use.

- Guests provide their own transportation to the cabin. If you don't have a canoe we recommend Ely Outfitting Company or Piragis Northwoods Company as outfitters who will rent you a canoe.
- motor boats are ok - but they need to be a small fishing boat. Please inquire if you intend to take a motor boat out.
- You can call Timber Trail Outfitters and ask if they can provide a water taxi. We do not have any agreement or relationship with them, but some guests have arranged a ride through them.
- The cabin is remote and off grid! It's like the Boundary Waters but with a roof over your head, comfy beds and a kitchen to cook in! There's no running water (the lake water is straight from the Wilderness and clean) or electricity. This is your chance to unwind from it all and enjoy nature and the solitude of the Boundary Waters!

A spacious full bathroom is located between the two rooms (note: no interior door separates the two bedrooms, only a hallway).

Just steps away, the cozy bunkhouse is perfect for added privacy or extra guests. It sleeps up to three with a full-over-queen bunk bed, features a desk for remote work, and is equipped with heat, AC, and electricity for year-round use.

Outside, take in the breathtaking lake views from two large decks, splash around in the sandy swimming area, or dock your boat (up to three!) on the 24-foot dock. Roast marshmallows at the lakeside firepit, gather around the picnic table, and enjoy peaceful evenings by the water. Located on Bear Island Lake and nestled in the serene woodlands of Northern Minnesota, this cozy 3- bedroom, 1 bathroom family cabin is just 15 minutes from Ely, MN — a charming town and entry point to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Open year-round, this cabin offers all you need to unwind and reconnect with nature.

The space
Upon entering the cabin, you are greeted by lake views from the large windows in the main area. This space combines living room, dining room and kitchen. The large stone fireplace in the living room is great for cozying up in the evenings, playing games, or reading a good book. The dining room offers a large table with seating for six. The well-equipped kitchen has all the essentials for preparing home-cooked meals, and the private well supplies ample clean, cold water from a depth of 365 feet.

With three bedrooms—one in the main level with two twin beds and two upstairs (one with a queen bed and another with three twin beds)—plus a full bathroom on the main level with a tub/shower combo, this cabin accommodates families or groups with ease.

This northwest-facing property boasts beautiful sunsets over the lake, an excellent view of the Northern Lights, a sandy area for swimming and water sports, as well as a dock to moor your boat (boat not provided with rental). There is a firepit and a picnic table by the lake that are perfect for that get-together bonfire! Bring your fishing gear to catch northern and walleyed pike, bass, sunfish (bluegills) and crappies. In the winter, enjoy local cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, dog-sledding, ice fishing, and more.

The space
This log cabin was originally built 1926-1927. Those are the two main rooms of the cabin, the main bedroom and the fireplace/dining room. I remodeled the porch/living room, adding a kitchen on one end. I also added the attached bathroom. The windows have all been updated, lighting added, and many more amenities. The entire cabin has new floors added in 2023. This cabin is located on my families property which also features a stone cabin and a 4 bedroom cabin. Those are not part of this Airbnb rental, but if you'd like to rent those as well, that MIGHT be a possibility, I would just need to know ahead of time.
AGAIN, THIS CABIN IS ONLY ACCESSIBLE BY WATER. YOU WILL NEED A BOAT. Pack Sack in Winton is recommended for rentals.

The space
The cabin sits on 40 acres of heavily wooded land. Feel free to explore as you like. The cabin has two queen beds in the loft, and one pull out queen sleeper sofa on the main level. The stairs to the loft are very steep, and not recommended for young children, or guests with mobility/strength limitations. There are not any blinds/room darkening shades in the loft, so if you are light sensitive in the morning, please ensure you pack an eye mask.

The cabin has a cooktop with two propane burners - there is not an oven. So, pack food that you can cook on a stove top or grill! There is just a small mini fridge at the property, as well as a decent sized cooler - so you may want to pack a few bags of ice for the cooler/additional cooler(s) if you plan to bring a lot of food and/or are staying for a long duration. The mini fridge does have a tiny freezer area that can fit up to 3 pints of ice cream.

Please understand this is an off-grid property, and runs off of solar and propane powered generator - therefore mindful use of things that require electricity - lights, hot water showers, and water in general all require a lot of power to operate. We ask that no hair dryers or crock pots be used as they are massive drains on the energy supply.

During times of limited sunshine the generator will need to power the cabin, though it is outside, you can definitely hear it inside of the cabin. Should you stay at the cabin during a snowstorm, it is advised that you go out to the solar panels and use the snow rakes to remove snow, so the panels can draw sunlight.

Should you have a need to sleep up to 8, message us about adding on the Dove Tail bunk cabin for $100/night.

Lastly, we encourage guests to come with realistic expectations and be ready to enjoy the wilderness - it's a cabin in the woods!

The cabin is designed to unplug if you want to, but we do have fast Starlink wifi for remote workers. You’ll feel relaxed and renewed during your stay at this modern Northwoods retreat.

Guests have cabin, private deck, private grill, private firepit.

Other things to note
PETS
We do allow 1 well behaved dog (over the age of 1 &  fully trained) for an additional $100 pet fee.

The dog must be crated if left alone in the cabin.

If you do not feel your dog can be well behaved, we ask you leave them with a sitter.

We hope to stay pet friendly for years to come, but in order to do so the following rules must be followed by our guests and pet owners:

• Your dog must be on the reservation and the pet fee paid prior to arrival (we will put couch covers on before your arrival and provide other pet amenities)
• Dogs are NOT allowed on the beds (be sure to bring their favorite cozy bed with)
• Owners are required to pick up after the dog and properly dispose of the waste in the garbage bin
• Dogs must never be left alone in cabin unless secured in a crate
• Please bring a dog towel to wipe dirty feet before entering the cabin
• Dogs must be on a leash on the property at ALL times
• Please pickup their poo from the yard 

If your dog is prone to barking or may chew/scratch anything in the cabin, we kindly ask that you leave them at home so we can continue to offer dog friendly accommodations.

Please note: If you attempt to bring your dog and he/she is NOT on the reservation you will be subject to a $200 fee.

CANCELLATION
We adhere to Airbnb’s Firm cancellation policy. We are not able to accommodate last minute cancellations due to weather. We highly encourage guests to opt in to the travel insurance that Airbnb offers to cover your booking should you need to cancel last minute.

Take in coveted crystal clear, 5-mile Cedar Lake (6 miles from Downtown Ely) on 500 ft. of lakeshore with one large cabin (full amenities) and one seasonal small cabin (rustic- ask for availability). The property borders Superior National Forest with no neighbors in sight. Great walleye fishing off the dock, comes with several canoes, kayaks, SUPs, and paddle boat, or drop your boat in. Enter the BWCA 3 miles further up the Cloquet. Right on snowmobile trails with great ice fishing & hunting.

The space
The two cabins are roughly 300 feet apart, offering complete privacy. Both are equipped with full kitchens. The main cabin has a full bathroom with a tub, while the little cabin features a seasonal bathroom. Both cabins have unlimited tankless water heaters.

The little cabin is seasonal and rustic (the little cabin bathroom has an unfinished shower but it has a seasonal outdoor shower)! If you'd like to use the little cabin during your stay, please enquire with me at the time of booking. It does not have running water or a toilet in the winter, and it is not plowed during snowy months. This is reflected in the discounted seasonal pricing. However, it does have heat, making it a great extra bedroom or cozy hang-out space with a working stove and small propane heater. 

The main cabin, approximately 700 sq. ft., has a private king bedroom. Under the king bed, there's a full mattress that can be pulled out for a child or placed anywhere in the cabin for an adult. There's also a built-in daybed that’s comfortable for an adult, and the couch is great for sleeping as well. The main cabin accommodates up to 4 adults but only one bedroom for privacy. It has a very effective wood stove as well as forced air heating.

The lake is right out front, with a dock that can hold two boats. Feel free to message me about renting the small fishing boat or an 11-person pontoon.

The smaller studio cabin (approx. 450 sq. ft.) has a king bed, a rustic pull-out couch (some guests prefer just the couch), and two twin beds in a small loft — sleeping up to 4 adults total or 5 people with two smaller kids in the loft, with privacy for only two. It has both a wood stove and a propane heater, which provides plenty of warmth for winter stays. There is also an outdoor shower. Again, note that in winter, the little cabin has no running water or toilet, but remains a heated and usable space if arranged and agreed in advance.

Enjoy great hiking and mountain biking right from the cabins — message me about bike rentals! Fishing is excellent off the dock, or ask Paulina or me for the best walleye spots (including right in front of the cabins) if you rent a boat or use our canoes, kayaks, or paddleboards.

The hot tubs are small “cowboy” style soaker tubs — fresh-filled with tankless water heaters and comfortably fit two. One is located by each deck. The sauna is a cozy infrared unit inside the main cabin, only for one adult.
