Nordic modern cabin on beautiful Silverthorn Lake in Seeley, located between Hayward and Cable. Towering pine trees shade a level grass and pine needle covered lot on clear spring-fed Silverthorn Lake. The lake is a quiet-sports lake and is perfect for swimming and paddling.
The cabin provides 550 square feet of newly renovated, well-designed open space offering luxury and comfort in a wilderness setting. Vaulted ceilings and large windows make the cabin feel much bigger than its footprint and a 10’X12’ deck with a view of the lake provides a great place to enjoy coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening. A large private dock and a fire pit with sitting area offer a great place to hang-out and listen to the loons.
The Seeley area is a quiet sports mecca for mountain bikers, fat bikers, XC skiers, snowshoers, hikers, paddlers, fisherman and other outdoor sports enthusiasts. The famous Birkebeiner ski trails and CAMBA mountain bike trails are only a couple of miles away from the cabin and offer world class terrain that is meticulously mapped and maintained. There is indoor storage for bikes, canoes and other sports equipment with both a garage and a barn on the property.
Birkebeiner XC Ski Trails
The 100+ kilometer Birkie trail system attracts skiers, runners, bikers, trekkers, and hikers, from beginners to elite athletes. There is typically xc skiing from December into March. Skiing on the Birkie trails requires a pass from December through March, use of the trail April through November does not require a pass.
CAMBA Mountain Bike Trails and Winter Fat Bike Trails
The CAMBA off-road mountain bike trail system consists of over 300 miles of marked and mapped trails. The CAMBA system has become recognized as the Singletrack Capital of the Midwest, with the most extensive system of interconnected singletrack east of the Mississippi. In addition, there are over 50 miles of CAMBA mountain bike trails groomed for winter fat biking.
Silverthorn Lake & Park
Easily walk or paddle to Silverthorn Lake Park located a half mile from the cabin and enjoy Silverthorn Lake’s sandy beach and clean, clear water. The park is a favorite spot for families to bring small children to swim and play. There is a large open air pavilion, playground equipment, picnic areas, pickleball courts, basketball court and sand volleyball courts. Silverthorn Lake is a “quiet lake” with no motorized activity allowed.
Namekagon River
Only a block away from the cabin is the famous Namekagon River, part of the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. The Namekagon River is a great place to paddle or cast a fly to wild trout.
Hayward Lakes Area
The Hayward Lakes Area boasts an old-fashioned, friendly small-town atmosphere while offering the finest amenities to make it a four-season vacation destination. No matter what draws you to the Hayward area, a variety of sports and outdoor activities, excellent dining, comfortable accommodations, distinctively different shopping or an unhurried pace, Hayward has it.

Our log cabin is conveniently located just minutes from town, yet you feel like you are in the northwoods upon entering. We have a wood burning stove, log furniture within the two bedrooms, and a cute loft that has another full log bed. There is a full kitchen, 1 full bath (bring your own towels), TV with Sling TV (Blue & Orange Package), and wireless internet available. Relax next to a fire in the backyard (lawn chairs provided) in the summer months and enjoy viewing ducks and geese in the small environmental pond behind the cabin.

The Hatchery Creek Trailhead, which has lighted trails, is just 2 miles down highway 77 providing access to the Birkie Trail and CAMBA Mountain Biking Trails.
We have been enjoying Hayward for years as a family and truly hope you enjoy our cabin as much as we do!

The cabin itself had so much room and a very welcoming feeling. Was a very nice time away from home with much needed relaxation." - "Perfect location for venue. Enjoyed our stay though we were rarely at cabin except to shower and sleep. We did leave 4 towels and 12 wash clothes due to packing issues. We love & have lots of dogs and know how important it is to bring your pooch along on your adventure. We are pet-friendly but please let us know if you plan to bring yours, as we do charge a cleaning fee ($30 for the total stay). We ask that you clean up after your dog (inside the cabin & outside), and do not leave your dog unattended in the cabin unless kenneled.
We provide the essentials - bath towels, shampoo/conditioner, soap, dish soap, coffee mugs, plates, utensils. We have a Keurig coffee maker with assorted coffees, sugar and creamer for you. We also have a regular coffee maker and provide filters. We have a small fridge, microwave and sink. There is an outdoor grill however you will need to bring charcoal & lighter fluid.

FAQS:
Q: Can we check-in early or check-out late?
A: It depends. Check in is at 3pm. Ask me and we will do our best to let you know as soon as your cabin is available. We and our cleaning staff have strict protocols to follow and can't always have the cabin ready earlier than 3pm. Feel free to use the common grounds such as the firepits, docks, and shoreline beforehand but please allow our cleaning crew the space they need to properly prepare your space.
Q: Is there WiFi and is it any good?
A: Yes and yes! We upgraded our router in 2020. We've had many guests stay and "work from home" and students that complete their coursework from the cabin without a single complaint.
Q: Do we have cable TV?
A: No, not anymore. We have smart TVs so you can log in to your favorite streaming services. Just remember to log out before you leave.
Q: Do we provide firewood for campfires?
A: No, however you can purchase firewood at several local convenience stores and grocery stores for $5-6 per bundle. You may also see signs on the drive up to purchase firewood at various residences. There are strict regulations against transporting firewood from other areas so please don't do that. Often times previous guests will leave unused firewood behind so you might just get lucky and not need to purchase any at all. We also don't provide matches/lighters.
Q: Is the water safe to drink?
A: Yes! We are on the city water line so it is safe to drink and cook with. There is both hot and cold water.
Q: Do I have to clean up before I check-out?
A: Uh, no. That's our job! Just enjoy your stay. Leave ALL used dishes/silverware out so they can be sanitized. Don't worry about making the bed because we're replacing the linens anyway. Please just lock the door and restore the key in the key box.
Q: Why is the cleaning fee so expensive?
A: Although the cabin is small, it takes a while to change the linen, restock, sanitize dishes, mop, etc. We try to pay our cleaning crew a livable wage and add in the expense of laundry and common items we supply and it adds up very quickly. We don't make or attempt to make any profit off of the cleaning expense.
Q: Are the other cabins grouped close together?
A: Yes, the cabins are grouped closely. You can get a sense by looking through all the photos we have posted. Not all cabins on the premises are rented/rentable however.
Q: Is it a contactless check-in?
A: Yes, it is self check-in and check-out. You will receive a code to access the cabin key in a lockbox. Please return the key when you leave. It's that simple!
Q: Can I swim in the lake? Is there a beach?
A: We have a shoreline with 3 docks but the water gets deep pretty quickly off the shoreline. There are a few spots where it's a little shallower. For a true sandy beach, head to Hayward City Beach which is less than one mile from the cabin.
Q: Does the cabin have good heat?
A: Yes it does! We recently upgraded to mini-split heater/AC units. The heating and cooling is simply remote controlled and responds much faster than our previous heating system.
Q: Where's the flat sheet on the bed?
A: Keeping with the European-style theme, the bed has a duvet. We change and clean ALL linens after every stay and take great pride in our cleanliness. We also have an extra blanket stored if you need it.
Q: Is there enough room to park a boat/trailer?
A: Yes! The parking area is large enough for several vehicles. If you have a trailer, you can back in park in three different areas. We just ask that you not block anyone else in.
Q: Do we have a boat landing?
A: No, not at our location however there is a public boat launch about a half mile away. You can launch your boat there and tie it down on one of our docks! It's much less than a half mile by boat from the launch to the docks.
Q: What kind of fish are in Lake Hayward?
A: Musky, panfish, Bass, Northern Pike, Trout, and Walleye.
Q: Do we have boat or canoe/kayak rentals?
A: No, we don't however Hayward Outfitters/Hayward Water Sports does and they are less than a half mile away, right next to the boat launch.
Q: Are there hiking trails nearby?
A: There is a paved trail near the parking area for a brief, leisurely stroll. Otherwise check out the Hayward Chamber of Commerce site for hiking and other outdoor activities.
Q: Are there ATV/Snowmobile trails close by?
A: Yes. Trail access is just across the street from the parking area. You can find trail maps on the Hayward Lakes site or Sawyer County Alliance site.
Q: Are there any good places to eat?
A: Of course! We can't give recommendations but suggest you check out the Hayward Chamber of Commerce site for local dining options.
If you have any other questions, I'd be glad to answer them!

- "Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this quaint cabin! The cabin had everything we needed, and having a separate bunkhouse for an extra sleeping area was a bonus. The owners were great and quickly responsive to any questions and even provided us a place to park our boat trailer. The fishing was great for panfish even off the dock and we caught several northern and bass. There was a great supply of firewood for our evening campfires. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind!"

We also offer two kayaks and 3 pair of snowshoes for guests to use at no charge.
Just want to relax? Imagine yourself sitting in the amazing screened porch enjoying your morning coffee, listening to the birds. Quiet evenings can be spent curled up next to the fire enjoying a good book. The floor plan offers enough space to hang around in the kitchen or sneak downstairs to enjoy your favorite TV show. .
Whatever your idea of fun and relaxation is, you can find it here!
*For guest's security, there is a video only security camera covering the parking area of the cabin, it is not monitored regularly, unless an issue arises and we need to go back and review footage, which we have never had to do! This is the only camera on the property and it is completely visible on the porch.
- "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Luna’s Retreat! It was exactly as described - super clean - homey - awesome screened in porch - easy access to trails - tons of room and close to activities. The owners have thought of everything with this rental - comfy porch furniture that we enjoyed a glass of wine as well as coffee in, comfortable beds, quality linens, quality furnishings and appliances, they even go so far as to provide qtips in the bathroom! We were looking for quiet relaxation and definitely got it here. Highly recommend staying here if you get the chance!!!"

- "The Hayward Haus was the perfect retreat. The views are beautiful, the indoor and outdoor spaces are comfortable and clean, and it was a quiet and peaceful place with plenty of outdoor activities to do nearby. We needed more time!" - "We stayed 7 days / 6 nights at this amazing home in early July – and we wished we could have stayed a few more weeks, it was so awesome! At other vacation homes we’ve rented, the cutlery and pans were subpar. Not with this home! I love to cook and this was an extremely well-appointed kitchen. The dishes, silverware, kitchen tools, etc. were complete. The bathroom was lovely with the defogger / lit mirror. All of the wood in the home is gorgeous. The dining room table is a showstopper! As is the kitchen island and the gorgeous mirror in the living room with the custom wood frame. All of the furniture and the king-sized bed were exceptional. The highlight of the home was the views – from the home and from the covered deck. With a hammock chair and hammock on the deck, along with comfy lounge furniture and table and chairs, it was one of our favorite spots to watch the eagles, loons, ducks, geese, deer and chipmucks. The multiple sliding doors with screens on the home allowed us to bring the summer breezes in when the mosquitos did their early evening hunting. We didn’t use the canoe but when we rent it next time, we will! The lake by the dock is shallow and the water is crystal clear. We had access to the lake with a short paddle trip. If you go into Hayward, there are lots of great shops and activities. But the show is the cabin. We needed a relaxing getaway. And it was perfect for us! We can’t wait to come back."

- "This place was amazing! Everything was so well decorated and the bathroom was something out of a magazine. This would be a great place for a girls weekend, couples getaway, or a get away for a small family. We basically had our own lakefront island. There was a fire pit and plenty of wood. The hot tub was great and the beds were huge and comfortable. We will definitely be booking again!" - "Imagine a real log cabin from th early 1900s, but with 21st century electronics and comfort, on the shore of a lake footsteps away, with a dock, kayaks, and a hottub next to a covered patio, and outdoor lighting strung through the trees. No need to imagine. It is here. We felt like we were the only ones on the lake. No other homes or docks were visible, other than the evidenced of life across the water. My only regret is that we eventually had to leave. We definitely will be back. Eric and Linda took care of everything. This would be an awesome place to write a novel. It's like going back in time, but with wireless and super cool lighting and fans, and a heated bathroom floor with a rainhead shower. Somebody pinch me, maybe I dreamed the whole thing. Just kidding. It's real. You'll love this place. Awesome digital welcom book with maps of where, and where not to kayak."

- "Was exactly what it said it was. Had a great time and everything was very nice. My girlfriend and I had a great time." - "The house was amazing, the front room with the wood burning fireplace was perfect for our twin one-year old girls to play and be secure. Our older girls loved the bunk beds, and on the rainy Saturday night we curled up to watch a movie the front room . The neighborhood is quiet and the sunsets are amazing. Definitely a place to go back too. "

One-room cabin with a cozy loft. No running water, but the outhouse and water set-up make for a rustic but not roughing-it feel. Water is fully-stocked inside, and there is an outdoor hand pump with full instructions for extra water. An outside on-demand hot water shower makes for a fun experience- even in winter! The cabin has propane heat, electric fridge and oven, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. The real draw of this spot is the warm, cozy, quiet feel of the cabin and its proximity to Mtn Bike and ski trails and water. You can ride and paddle right from the property (Seeley Pass crosses 1/2 mile up Boedecker Rd) and you can access the Birkie Trail at either of two trailheads with warming huts; Boedecker Rd or HWY OO. We are pet-friendly but please let us know if you plan to bring yours, as we do charge a cleaning fee ($30 for the total stay). We may have to send you a separate request for this payment.

Rustic Elegance + Northwoods Flare + Island View Panorama + Fully Electric + Front Porch 10 minutes from Hayward, The Glamping Cabin's spacious semi-open floor-plan has 2 beds, full kitchen, dishes, utensils and a thoughtfully designed camp-style water system. Winter days are warm+cozy with the Row-0-Flames heater. Showers are outdoors when temperatures are above 32 degrees or next door at Loon Lake Guesthouse when its cold out. Your "toilet" is a colorful outdoor privy. Fully electric with WiFi
The space
This is a stylish, well appointed 24x32 space that's fully electric with a camp-style water system and full kitchen. The 2 beds, king and full, are tucked behind room dividers with a small dressing area in the corner. It has just the right amount of creature comforts to make it an ideal getaway for writers, yogis, musicians or anyone longing to step into nature and refresh their senses.
It includes a comfy sectional sofa with a dining table that overlooks the lake.
Create meals to remember in the FULL KITCHEN made of upcycled office furniture, a mid-size fridge, gas range, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, water dispenser, dishes, silverware, pots and pans, utensils, etc.
There's also a hand washing spot which is located on the porch in warmer months. In the freezing weather, a daily shower is available by appointment in the semi-private micro-shower located in the guesthouse next door. NOTE: The toilet in the shower room is private, not shared.
Water comes in jugs and dispensers which are filled shortly before your arrival. These can be refilled with the BPA-free hose on the porch in the warmer months or from a spigot at the shared guesthouse bathroom next door when temps fall below 32 degrees.
A string-lit path leads to the outhouse located behind the studio.
The Glamping Studio has no indoor plumbing and no conventional toilet.
Guest access
Some of the CLOSET SPACE in the studio is considered “host area”. It's obvious by looking.
Guests are free to walk on around the property except where it would obviously infringe on the privacy of others who are staying next door at Loon Lake Guesthouse .
THE GAZEBO down by the lake is available to all guests. It also has a campfire ring. If you need campfire wood there are 2 excellent sources nearby. National forest campfire rules apply. Contact host beforehand to confirm there are no burning bans in place.
There’s a CANOE parked down by the lake which guests are welcome to use.
Other things to note
WIFI -- The studio's WiFi is provided by Starlink. Not always perfect but generally pretty good.
VOICE CALLS -- Text and streaming work well but voice calls can sometimes be marginal. Internet calling works best.
NOISE — Noise levels should take into consideration the comfort of of those staying next door at Loon Lake Guesthouse .
SHOWER — Warmer weather means outdoor showering on the porch. When temps dip below the freezing point, daily showers can be scheduled next door at Loon Lake Guesthouse.
WATER -- The well water is excellent and safe to drink. The hose supplying the studio is BPA free as are all the water vessels inside which have been filled with fresh water on the day of your arrival. Use the spigot in either the outdoor or indoor shower, depending on the time of year, to refill as needed.
The OUTHOUSE path is illuminated by string lighting. To keep things fresh, just toss down an occasional scoop of sawdust+barn lime mix which is located inside the outhouse. Once a day is plenty. A hand washing station is located just outside the door to the Glamping Studio or inside in the colder months. Hand sanitizer is provided. NOTE: Apart from the sawdust mixture and TP do not throw anything into the outhouse.
TRAIN —It comes through at all hours and with varying frequency. For most guests, it’s part of the charm of staying here but it can definitely be heard.
PATHWAYS —The path to the studio entrance is not a paved sidewalk. In fact it’s somewhat uneven with stepping stones and may not suitable for guests with mobility issues.
CLEAN-UP -- Do your best to leave The Glamping Studio as you found it… wash dishes, wipe the table, stove and other surfaces including the fridge. Used towels can go on the floor near the entry. No need to strip the beds. Bonus points for taking out the garbage ;)
EXTENDED STAYS -- Feel free to contact me about adding time to your stay. Oftentimes nights can be added at a discount when there's a space between guests.
Our cabin is small but mighty! It has the potential to sleep 6, but makes a great space for 2-4. We are just 2 miles away from CAMBA trailheads, 1/2 mile from the Namakagon River, and 2 miles from the town of Cable. IG: @hyggehousewi
The space
In Danish, hygge (Hoo-guh) is described in many ways, but it is simply the Danish ritual of enjoying life's simple pleasures. Friends, family, graciousness. The Hygge House encapsulates this definition by arming itself with a slow and peaceful way of living. No television, Chemex coffee system, gas fireplace, blankets to snuggle, outside deck for enjoying the peace, yet only 2 miles from town if you're craving some local action.

The place is yours. The cabin sits on 1 acre of woods, feel free to explore but please leave no trace. Our property line is marked w/ stakes for ease of keeping you on our side. Enjoy the kitchen and the bulk dry goods, coffee and loose leaf tea, if you enjoy cooking or baking, help yourself. We want our cabin to be your cabin while you stay. We hope you enjoy it to the fullest extent. The toys in the shed are yours to use as well. We trust you will take care of them the way we do. There is a cribbage board and cards, coloring books and markers, other games, vinyl albums and a hammock for beautiful days, to enjoy as well. An outdoor fire pit for all-season fires, as well as 3 Adirondack chairs for lounging. Brett and I have put together a place that has everything we need to escape reality and get in touch with the outdoors, we wish you to do the same.
Other things to note
The Hygge House is dog friendly, and we ask that you care for your dog and any messes they may create. We do not require a security deposit, but you will be responsible for any damages during your stay. Though we have not had any troubles, when outdoors, be aware of the opportunity for bears and wolves, as well as birds, squirrels, and the like.
The staircase and railings are steep and exposed and should be noted when looking to stay at our cabin with children or pets. Most dogs do just fine on the stairs, but some are a little more hesitant.
The house is equipped with full plumbing.
Our cabin does not have air-conditioning, however, there is cool thermal energy coming from the lower level being below grade. The combination of the dehumidifier and being below grade will usually keep temperatures cool. But please consider this when booking.
We are set up with Wi-Fi.

If you would like to bring your boat you can but boats cannot ever be tied to the dock. We do have a lift available for an extra charge if you would want to rent it. It is for a regular small fishing boat (not a pontoon). Otherwise your boat must be taken in and out each night and parked in one of our 2 parking spots. There is no other overnight parking. Docks and lifts are taken out 2nd weekend in October and put back in some time in May. So be sure to inquire if you are coming early season or late season.
Guest access
You have access to our cabin and the shared dock/beach area for the property.
Other things to note
There are 2 parking spaces available to our cabin. These are 2 tandem spaces on the lake side of the cabin. We are only given these 2 spaces. Township ordinance does not allow overnight street parking.

Come visit our beautiful cabin in the woods. You will have access to Snowmobile and ATV trails right at the end of the driveway. After a long day on the trails, you can come home to a nice hot shower. We've seen deer and black bears passing through near the pond. You will see plenty of fish in our pond, however they are our pets. NO FISHING is allowed. Dogs welcome; no cats as I am very allergic. I added atv trail map pics for Ashland and Iron counties, but please check for updates.

This cabin has 2 bedrooms with 1 king and 1 queen bed. Both of the beds are off the ground (steps provided) with built in storage underneath. You will have access to the drawers under each of the beds. This property has shared access to a trail system located directly on the 15 acres owned by the listing party. It also provides easy access to the local ATV/UTV systems and the Snowmobile Trails via forest roads as well. If you are looking for a place to stay where you can park your car and use your machine, this is it!
Guest access
The entire cabin is available for your use. The pole shed down below is currently used for our storage though.
Other things to note
Please understand this is a cabin in the woods and there will be bugs! Plan to bring bug spray as the season dictates. In spring you might find ticks; late spring - early summer can send mosquitos; and fall can supply some annoying flies.
We do our best to spray the exterior of the cabin to keep it bug free, but there isn't much we can do about the surrounding forest. We do our best to minimize the pests :-).
Also, don't forget sunscreen!
