Also, bring towels (bath and kitchen). The full kitchen has a wonderful collection of cooking and baking equipment. I made brownies, pizza, salads - the kitchen was my favorite room. The bird-chirp clock in the kitchen was startling, then annoying. You may want to remove the batteries or disable the audio. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The view was spectacular. The atmosphere was super quiet - perfect. I want to go back - but will be device free."

- "I decided on this property for a little something different to celebrate our anniversary. Well it is a nice property with a nice view, but really has nothing much to offer for the price you pay. For that price you could find a very nice hotel with more to offer. The house was picked up and tidy, but not spotless. Window wells had cob webs and dirt. The kitchen looked clean but hadn't really been scrubbed. The grill was gross. I brought a grill brush and took only a minute to clean. I left my grill brush. You need to bring almost everything. There were blankets and pillows, but had a musty smell. The blankets were wrapped in plastic wrap in the closet along with extra pillows. You need to bring your own towels and food items. The pier was nice, but no easy area to be in the water. Very rocky and we found some broken glass in the water. The ceiling fan in the master bedroom was way off balance and made quite a noise, so couldn't have that going. Also had to basically clean before we left or risk being charged more. Again, it's has some good characteristics, but overall way over priced for what you get. Unless you're staying with a group of people, I'd spend the money somewhere else with more to offer."

Welcome to our 900 square foot cabin on 30 wooded acres with walking trails. Wildlife is abundant: you will most likely see deer, turkeys, rabbits, grouse and maybe even a bear. The cabin is perfect for year-round recreation as it is located directly on a snowmobile/ATV route and features a trailer-friendly circle drive with plenty of parking.

The Eau Claire Lakes with public boat launches are nearby. Includes an outdoor fire pit, charcoal grill, gas grill, large deck in the rear of the cabin with patio table and chairs and a nice covered porch in the front.

Our cabin features a master bedroom (queen size bed) and a loft (2 twin beds) which is great for children. Town of Barnes is 5 miles, Iron River is 18 miles, Cable is 19 miles and Hayward is 25 miles.

Nordic modern cabin on beautiful Silverthorn Lake in Seeley, located between Hayward and Cable. Towering pine trees shade a level grass and pine needle covered lot on clear spring-fed Silverthorn Lake. The lake is a quiet-sports lake and is perfect for swimming and paddling.

The cabin provides 550 square feet of newly renovated, well-designed open space offering luxury and comfort in a wilderness setting. Vaulted ceilings and large windows make the cabin feel much bigger than its footprint and a 10’X12’ deck with a view of the lake provides a great place to enjoy coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening. A large private dock and a fire pit with sitting area offer a great place to hang-out and listen to the loons.

The Seeley area is a quiet sports mecca for mountain bikers, fat bikers, XC skiers, snowshoers, hikers, paddlers, fisherman and other outdoor sports enthusiasts. The famous Birkebeiner ski trails and CAMBA mountain bike trails are only a couple of miles away from the cabin and offer world class terrain that is meticulously mapped and maintained. There is indoor storage for bikes, canoes and other sports equipment with both a garage and a barn on the property.

The 100+ kilometer Birkie trail system attracts skiers, runners, bikers, trekkers, and hikers, from beginners to elite athletes. There is typically xc skiing from December into March. Skiing on the Birkie trails requires a pass from December through March, use of the trail April through November does not require a pass.

CAMBA Mountain Bike Trails and Winter Fat Bike Trails
The CAMBA off-road mountain bike trail system consists of over 300 miles of marked and mapped trails. The CAMBA system has become recognized as the Singletrack Capital of the Midwest, with the most extensive system of interconnected singletrack east of the Mississippi. In addition, there are over 50 miles of CAMBA mountain bike trails groomed for winter fat biking.

Our log cabin is conveniently located just minutes from town, yet you feel like you are in the northwoods upon entering. We have a wood burning stove, log furniture within the two bedrooms, and a cute loft that has another full log bed. There is a full kitchen, 1 full bath (bring your own towels), TV with Sling TV (Blue & Orange Package), and wireless internet available. Relax next to a fire in the backyard (lawn chairs provided) in the summer months and enjoy viewing ducks and geese in the small environmental pond behind the cabin.

If you wish to go out and about there are many great restaurants nearby, shopping in downtown Hayward, and skiing on the world famous American Birkebeiner Ski Trail. The Hatchery Creek Trailhead, which has lighted trails, is just 2 miles down highway 77 providing access to the Birkie Trail and CAMBA Mountain Biking Trails.

You can't beat the charm and location of this studio size log cabin! Nestled in a beautiful, quiet wooded area along an offshoot of Hayward Lake (direct access to the main body), you are surrounded by nature at its finest! Within a short walking distance of downtown Hayward, you also have easy access to shopping, nightlife, and a wonderful area filled with many eateries, coffee shops, and so much more.

This cabin was hand-built in Germany. The cabin has received many updates but retains its original character. Also, many amenities have been added to provide comfort and convenience during your stay. Although this is a 1 room studio size space (approximately 265 square feet), there is a lot packed into this space without feeling crowded. Inside you will find a queen size bed, along with a futon (folds out to a full size bed) to sleep up to 4 people total. Next to the futon area is also a Smart TV and DVD player for those rainy nights (cable also)! There is also a bathroom with a sink/vanity, toilet and very decent sized shower. Also included is a small kitchenette and dining area fully stocked with plates, pans, utensils and more. The kitchenette area also includes a dorm-size refrigerator, coffee maker (Hayward Coffee Company coffee provided), sink and microwave. There is also a toaster oven and griddle on site should you want to cook with those. Maybe most importantly, a propane grill is provide on the outside patio area for your year round grilling and cooking needs (grill does have a side burner!). The outside area also features a brand new deck with patio furniture (seating for four). The bonfire pit just a few feet away as well. Pet rules - one dog under 50 pounds is allowed for a pet fee of $60 per night. Please make sure to clean clean up after your dog (inside and out) and make sure that they are on a leash at all times in the common area outside for everyone's safety.

We love & have lots of dogs and know how important it is to bring your pooch along on your adventure. We are pet-friendly but please let us know if you plan to bring yours, as we do charge a cleaning fee ($30 for the total stay). We ask that you clean up after your dog (inside the cabin & outside), and do not leave your dog unattended in the cabin unless kenneled.

We provide the essentials - bath towels, shampoo/conditioner, soap, dish soap, coffee mugs, plates, utensils. We have a Keurig coffee maker with assorted coffees, sugar and creamer for you. We also have a regular coffee maker and provide filters. We have a small fridge, microwave and sink. There is an outdoor grill however you will need to bring charcoal & lighter fluid.

This is a small cabin community with 8 cabins in total and some common/shared spaces - there are 2 community firepits plus your own firepit, picnic tables, and multiple docks. You can bring and launch your canoe or kayak right here on the water.

FAQS:

Q: Can we check-in early or check-out late?
A: It depends. Check in is at 3pm. Ask me and we will do our best to let you know as soon as your cabin is available. We and our cleaning staff have strict protocols to follow and can't always have the cabin ready earlier than 3pm. Feel free to use the common grounds such as the firepits, docks, and shoreline beforehand but please allow our cleaning crew the space they need to properly prepare your space.

Q: Is there WiFi and is it any good?
A: Yes and yes! We upgraded our router in 2020. We've had many guests stay and "work from home" and students that complete their coursework from the cabin without a single complaint.

Q: Do we have cable TV?
A: No, not anymore. We have smart TVs so you can log in to your favorite streaming services. Just remember to log out before you leave.

Q: Do we provide firewood for campfires?
A: No, however you can purchase firewood at several local convenience stores and grocery stores for $5-6 per bundle. You may also see signs on the drive up to purchase firewood at various residences. There are strict regulations against transporting firewood from other areas so please don't do that. Often times previous guests will leave unused firewood behind so you might just get lucky and not need to purchase any at all. We also don't provide matches/lighters.

Q: Is the water safe to drink?
A: Yes! We are on the city water line so it is safe to drink and cook with. There is both hot and cold water.

Q: Do I have to clean up before I check-out?
A: Uh, no. That's our job! Just enjoy your stay. Leave ALL used dishes/silverware out so they can be sanitized. Don't worry about making the bed because we're replacing the linens anyway. Please just lock the door and restore the key in the key box.

Q: Why is the cleaning fee so expensive?
A: Although the cabin is small, it takes a while to change the linen, restock, sanitize dishes, mop, etc. We try to pay our cleaning crew a livable wage and add in the expense of laundry and common items we supply and it adds up very quickly. We don't make or attempt to make any profit off of the cleaning expense.

Q: Are the other cabins grouped close together?
A: Yes, the cabins are grouped closely. You can get a sense by looking through all the photos we have posted. Not all cabins on the premises are rented/rentable however.

Q: Is it a contactless check-in?
A: Yes, it is self check-in and check-out. You will receive a code to access the cabin key in a lockbox. Please return the key when you leave. It's that simple!

Q: Can I swim in the lake? Is there a beach?
A: We have a shoreline with 3 docks but the water gets deep pretty quickly off the shoreline. There are a few spots where it's a little shallower. For a true sandy beach, head to Hayward City Beach which is less than one mile from the cabin.

Q: Does the cabin have good heat?
A: Yes it does! We recently upgraded to mini-split heater/AC units. The heating and cooling is simply remote controlled and responds much faster than our previous heating system.

Q: Where's the flat sheet on the bed?
A: Keeping with the European-style theme, the bed has a duvet. We change and clean ALL linens after every stay and take great pride in our cleanliness. We also have an extra blanket stored if you need it.

Q: Is there enough room to park a boat/trailer?
A: Yes! The parking area is large enough for several vehicles. If you have a trailer, you can back in park in three different areas. We just ask that you not block anyone else in.

Q: Do we have a boat landing?
A: No, not at our location however there is a public boat launch about a half mile away. You can launch your boat there and tie it down on one of our docks! It's much less than a half mile by boat from the launch to the docks.

Q: What kind of fish are in Lake Hayward?
A: Musky, panfish, Bass, Northern Pike, Trout, and Walleye.

Q: Do we have boat or canoe/kayak rentals?
A: No, we don't however Hayward Outfitters/Hayward Water Sports does and they are less than a half mile away, right next to the boat launch.

Q: Are there hiking trails nearby?
A: There is a paved trail near the parking area for a brief, leisurely stroll. Otherwise check out the Hayward Chamber of Commerce site for hiking and other outdoor activities.

Q: Are there ATV/Snowmobile trails close by?
A: Yes. Trail access is just across the street from the parking area. You can find trail maps on the Hayward Lakes site or Sawyer County Alliance site.

Q: Are there any good places to eat?
A: Of course! We can't give recommendations but suggest you check out the Hayward Chamber of Commerce site for local dining options.

Welcome to Smith Lake! Recently remodeled 2 bedroom 1 bath cabin on Smith Lake with Pontoon and only minutes from town. This property has a nice lake lot that has low elevation and nice frontage. Smith lake is 323 acres with a maximum depth of 31 ft. and specializes in blue gill, crappie, northern pike, large mouth bass and walleye. Smith Lake is a great recreational lake being small enough to not have a lot of traffic but big enough to enjoy all lake recreation. The lake has a very nice Northwoods feel and is close to town allowing for easy access for your needs.

Charming resort cabin with additional bunk house (see fee below) on beautiful Silver Lake! Very clean lake for great swimming, fishing and boating. Nice level lake shore in close proximity to cabin. The cabin is small but accommodating with open great room, one bedroom and 3/4 bath with shower, and beautiful fireplace. Can sleep 3-4 with queen bed in bedroom and full size futon in great room. The bunk house has a 1/2 bath, futon/sofa and 2 full sized beds in loft. There is an outside shower on the bunk house for rinsing off sandy feet. There is a convenient public boat launch next to property. This also makes for a great swimming beach and a popular spot for locals on hot days. The neighboring cabins are in close proximity but each faces a different direction for some privacy. Swimming and fishing off the dock is great! Water is shallow, NO DIVING OFF DOCK! Paddleboat on shore available for your use.

Great location between Spooner, Hayward and Minong. Walking distance to Silver Lake Saloon. Also, very close Jack's canoe rental on the Namekogen River. The cabin is a short block off the Wild River Trail, great for ATV and snowmobile riding.

The bunkhouse is optional at $25.00 extra per night and an addiitonal $50 cleaning fee applies. Please indicate whether you will be using the bunk house or not when you make the reservation to get an accurate quote. The bunk house is not available November through March. There is a 4 person limit for using the main cabin in the winter months.

Main bedroom has a queen bed, and second bedroom has one full and one single, bunk style. There is a full size futon in the living room. Setting is nice among the pine trees with your own fire pit available for use. An easy walk into downtown Hayward for dining, shopping, etc.

This cabin has an open concept main floor dining and living room with a fireplace, picture windows overlooking the serene beautiful natural and waterfront landscape. There are a plethora of games and books along with a large smart tv equipped with Netflix, HBO MAX, VUDU with over 350 movies along with a Nintendo Switch.

The kitchen has beautiful finishings with all new appliances including a double door fridge and freezer, dishwasher, oven, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, pots, pans, baking sheets and coffeemaker. Everything you need for a relaxing getaway.

The cabin is located on a private inlet of the Tiger Cat Flowage which is a chain of lakes that together expand 1,065 acres with exceptional fishing for muskies, northerns, walleyes, bass and panfish. There is a small waterway that allows access onto the main lake as well as a public boat landing minutes away. This inlet is perfect for small fishing boats and roundabouts (short shaft motors only), the average depth is about 3ft. Unfortunately large boats or pontoons will not fit through.

Don’t forget fun and games for people of all ages! There is an epic game room with full size arcades, foosball, air hockey, ping pong, skeeball, dart board and so much more! Play cards, board games, giant jenga, oversized bowling and more! The game room is heated & available for use in all seasons.

The cabin is located just 13 miles from downtown Hayward, you’ll enjoy the peace of being in nature while being close to wonderful shops, restaurants and attractions that Hayward has to offer. The space
SPLIT DRIVEWAY - As you pull in there are 2 driveways. Use the Circle Driveway that brings you to the main entrance area. (Not the private driveway that leads to the garage.) Once on the circle drive, stay to the right.

Use the GREEN GUEST DOOR that has 2 steps. Feel free to park in front of it whenever you're loading or unloading. 3-4 Guest Parking Spaces are now in direct view. Park at an angle pulling in as far as possible to avoid the UPS truck.

The ENTRY is the only shared space. It has a dresser with a lamp and host operated thermostat. The stairway is a private.

SUNROOM ACCESS - Once inside slide the green louvered door to the left. Turn right down the hallway to the Bathroom and Main Bedroom. The Overflow Bedroom* is straight ahead. In addition to a 2nd bed, there's also a small desk in this room available to Sunroom guests.

The MAIN BEDROOM is at the end of the hallway on the left. With beautiful woodwork, light streaming in the many windows, a famously comfortable queen bed, sitting area+plant space. With a view to the backyard, lake and island, it's truly a haven for rest and relaxation. The bed area may be curtained off for greater privacy.

The armoire contains extra linens for the guesthouse and closet space for guests. Guest towels and Welcome Information are on the bed.

The KITCHENETTE includes a small fridge, coffee maker, microwave, hot water kettle and 2-slice toaster. Coffee and tea are supplied by guests. A pitcher is provided so guests can get pure, delicious tap water from either of the bathroom faucets. Text host for dishes to be replenished. Usually responsive within an hour or 2 from 9-9.

The private BATHROOM is 1/2-way down the hall. Light and spacious with a luxuriously deep 2-person soaking tub, it's perfection. Toiletries are provided except BYOBB ;)

The OVERFLOW BEDROOM includes a comfy chair, small desk and queensize bed. NOTE: Although it does sleep 2, when used as an extra bedroom, the Sunroom's Main Bedroom is considerably less private since the rooms share a wall. The Overflow BR room also shares a locked door/wall with the host apartment, as well as with the guest entry. And the Overflow BR is also within hearing distance of Sunroom’s Main Bedroom and the host’s apartment. But given all this... A majority of guests find it comfortable and useful for many situations. (Find a picture of the floor plan in the listing photos for further clarification.)

Walk the loop, approximately 20 or 45 minutes on town roads starting at the end of the driveway.

Discover the Namekagon River. Only 1/2 mile from Loon Lake, it's known as Wisconsin's Moving National Park and designated a National Scenic Wild River by the U.S. Park Service. Bring or rent canoes, kayaks, tubes or paddle boards from Camp Namekagon. And FYI, when this river was designated as a National and Scenic & Wild River, my father Tony Wise acted as the local point person for Senator Gaylord Nelson who secured this gift for all of us in who live in northern Wisconsin and beyond

Even though the water is spring fed and crystal clear, for some, Loon Lake qualifies more as a swimming hole than a beach. So if you’re looking for sandy lakeshore to swim, launch a boat and picnic, one of the nicest public beaches in the Hayward area is just 1/2 mile down the road to the Beaver Lake Town Beach.

Guests are welcome to use the campfire ring down by the Gazebo any time of year. Just ask for permission first in case there's a fire ban. Firewood is available for purchase very nearby. Ask host for details.

Snowshoeing and bushwacking on your beater skis is a great idea for winter fun and it can be done right out the Loon Lake guest door.

Other things to note
It’s important to note that Loon Lake is near an active railroad line. Guests frequently mention the ambience of staying here and hearing the trains roll by. But if you aren’t one who appreciates the sound of the lonesome whistle blowing, this probably isn’t the best lodging choice.

This bedroom was designed with the idea that it’s great to wake up with the sun. For those who need a greater level of darkness in order to sleep well, I would suggest booking the Upstairs Perch Suite or using a sleeping mask.

A light tidying up is all that’s required at check-out. NOTE: If you’d like to extend your stay beyond 11 am please make that arrangement in advance by text. You're also welcome to inquire about adding additional days. If the dates are open they may be available at a discounted rate.

The yard often has deer or turkeys walking through. With the pond below there is lots of wildlife.

Its 8 miles from the Delta Diner, 10 miles to lakes, 18 miles to Ashland and Lake Superior. Snowmobile trails can be reached from the property and all the town roads are ATV routes.

The Bear Den is a beige/green trim home with a perfect location for all your outdoor ventures, located on the corner of Hwy 63 and Leonard School Rd between Seeley and Cable, WI. This 2- bedroom, 1 1/2 bath unit features Northwoods decor. Relax in private backyard with firepit, free firewood, a gas grill and outdoor furniture. Convenience cooking only with restaurants, gas and grocery shopping nearby Cable, WI, or Seeley, WI.

The space
The Bear Den is the perfect size for up to 4 guests, a $25 fee for each guest after one person, There are two bedrooms with queen-size beds and 1 1/2 bathrooms. Relax outdoors in the private backyard. During warmer months, we provide an outdoor firepit, a propane grill, barbeque tools, an outdoor sink with running water, table and chairs, and a bench for sitting. Just a quarter mile down Leonard School Road from the Bear Den is a scenic bridge over the Namekagon River. We are at the heart of all the trails around for hiking, biking, skiing, snowmobiling etc. and have guidebooks/brochures in the dining room. Please note that cooking at the Bear Den is limited to an electric frypan, a toaster oven, crockpot, toaster, microwave, refrigerator, electric teapot and both a 4-cup and single-serve pod coffee maker. We do not have a full stove/range. We do provide dishes, basic utensils and an outdoor gas grill for cooking.

Guest access
The entire Bear Den guesthouse is yours to enjoy during your stay as well as the private backyard with firepit, free firewood, a gas grill and outdoor furniture. You may park on the grass in front of the front steps and ramp.

Other things to note
Be prepared for extra traffic and excitement during the annual world class Birkebeiner Ski Race, Fat Tire event and Lumberjack Festival. Please be advised that there is an additional fee for each person after 1 person and book your stay accordingly. Please note that we do not allow pets or smoking. Please bring locking devices for your sports equipment as we do not allow bicycles or other larger equipment inside the building. We also do not allow burning candles, waxing skis indoors, or charging a hybrid vehicle as our breaker system is not set up for this. Please note that there is not a stove/range. We do provide a microwave, electric frypan, toaster, toaster-oven, refrigerator, crockpot and coffeemakers. Please note that if you are interested in staying longer than a week, you must still book by the week, as I will be in once a week to change linens, do light housekeeping and remove garbage. We do not advertise internet as the signal is poor. Sometimes it comes in.

Only 10 minutes and a world away from Hayward, the stylishly appointed UPSTAIRS PERCH is part of Loon Lake Guesthouse. Take in a lakeside panorama of gardens, wildlife, tall pines on glimmering Loon Lake. Summer brings swimming, canoeing, birds and walking the lake loop. Use it as an office for remote work or strike out on an adventure with some Northwoods day tripping. And when day is done make a moonrise campfire by the lake and listen for the loons that gave this place it's name.

The space
Sunny, spacious south facing bedrooms in a cozy, relaxing upstairs suite.

-EAST BEDROOM
Has a kitchenette and serves as the 2nd bedroom with a sofa sleeper made up ahead of time when guests need both beds. Small closet.

-KITCHENETTE
With a small table for 4. Also includes a small fridge, coffee-maker, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, dishes, silverware, etc. Notify host about replenishing dishes or emptying the trash when you're out. Bring coffee and tea if desired. NOTE: For safety reasons, guests are asked NOT to carry the bus tub down the stairs.

-MASTER BEDROOM
Queen-size bed, desk, dresser and closet.

-FULL PRIVATE BATHROOM
Tub+Shower unit, towels, make-up remover, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion are provided.

Guest access
The Upstairs Suite shares a dedicated guest entrance which is also shared by guests staying in the downstairs unit, aka, The Sunroom. Host uses space minimally to adjust thermostat and lights. The louvered door separating the units may be closed at your discretion. Doing so prevents heat from rising.

Head down to the lake and gazebo to swim or feel free to go out in the canoe. Although Loon Lake qualifies more as a “swimming hole” more than a “sandy weed-free beach”, the water is clean and beautiful and many of my guests and I love swimming in it. Otherwise, there’s always the family friendly Beaver Lake Town Beach that’s within walking distance (-1/2 mile). It has a truly sandy beach, boat launch, picnic area and playground.

Guests are welcome to use the campfire ring and the charcoal grill unless there’s a burning ban. Firewood and charcoal are not provided but there’s an excellent roadside stand 5 minutes from here to purchase campfire wood. Message me for details.

Other things to note
Once your reservation is confirmed you’ll be able to access detailed directions in GUEST RESOURCES. IMPORTANT... Using these directions or search for Loon Lake Guesthouse on GGL Maps to reliably find Loon Lake Guesthouse. Despite being easy to find, digital mapping/GPS occasionally gives incorrect directions. Printing or downloading directions before you embark prevents issues with connectivity en route.

SMOKING - Tobacco isn’t permitted. The end of the driveway is the nearest smoking area.

Most guests view THE TRAIN as part of the charm but if you don't appreciate the lonesome whistle blowing, you may want to reconsider staying here.

CELL SERVICE - Texting and streaming usually work well but due to the proximity of the nearest cell tower, voice calls often cut out. If this becomes an issue you can either step outside to the lake side of the house or use the guest phone located in the entry at the base of the stairs.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL - The thermostat is set to a level that ideally makes it comfortable for the whole house. You’re also welcome to adjust the floor vent located in the right hand corner of the room and there’s a space heater available for use in the winter months. Failing that, I’m happy to adjust the thermostat if you let me know. When the AC is on please KEEP THE WINDOWS CLOSED unless it’s cooler outside than in. During the heating season windows also need to remain closed during unless it’s warmer outside than in.

WATER - Save on throwaways and enjoy delicious, crystal clear well water right from the tap.

Loon Lake is near the top of the roster for SNOW PLOWING but it isn’t possible to guarantee exactly when my plow guy will arrive. If you have definite time constraints please let me know ahead of time so I can do my best to accommodate. Otherwise, if you’re renting a car, 4-WD is a good choice.

A light tidying up is all that’s required at CHECK-OUT. If you’d like to extend your stay beyond 10am please make that arrangement in advance by contacting me on the Airbnb Message Center. Extending your stay may also be an option and is often offered at a discounted rate.

Located on the Namekagon Scenic Riverway, is the charming R & R (Relax on the River) Cabin, with its' included canoe and 2 kayaks! It is the perfect getaway for a couple/small family; imagine sledding out on to the trails in the Winter or sitting out on the front deck and watching the river flow by, just 30 feet away, in the Spring, Summer and Fall! It is next to the Log Cabin Resort that offers a sandy beach for swimming!!

The space
Relax on the River is a charming cabin, located in an area that is perfect for any outdoor enthusiast! Experience canoeing/kayaking, and fishing right out your front door! There are also nearby ski/hike/snowshoe trails as well as ATV/snowmobile trails and the Birkie /CAMBA trails. (Snowmobile right out of the cabin on to the trails!) Experience the small town charm of the Trego - Hayward - Spooner area (including a bar/restaurant near Hwy 53 within walking distance!) or just "stay home" and relax in your own private getaway on the beautiful Wild and Scenic Namekagon River! :-)

Hello and Welcome! This place on the river has always represented home for me. It is my roots. I was born and raised here, and my family's history and connection to this site go back almost 100 years. My grandparents Homer and Luella Canfield bought this land in the 1930s to homestead on and build a log cabin resort. My grandfather and dad began clearing the land. In winters they would cut trees with local timber using crosscut saws and axes. With horse and sleigh they would haul them to this site to build their home. The resort cabins werebuilt and the operation of Canfield's Log Cabin Resort began in the 1940s. My parents Jack and Dorie Canfield took ownership of the resort in the 1960s. They cleared more land and developed the campground and canoeing aspects as a popular addition to the resort. In the early 1980s they sold the portion of the resort that was run as a campground and seasonal cabins, and kept the portion containing the original log home and the year-round cabins. I hope the peaceful Namekagon River, now a National Scenic Riverway, and the surrounding area of the northwoods provide you with a grounded, relaxed feeling. Book your dogsled, snowmobiling, or four-wheeling adventure today! Awesome one room cabin that is great for a peaceful getaway. Tucked in the woods with access to trails right out the front door for snowmobiling, four-wheeling, cross country skiing, skijoring, dogsledding, etc. Close to Iron River and Ashland WI.

Snowmobiling, four-wheeling, cross country skiing, skijoring, dogsledding, etc. Pellet stove for heat, a loft that sleeps two comfortably (also a pullout loveseat that will sleep one, and a couch), fridge to store your food, and a hot plate and toaster oven for cooking. No indoor bathroom but there is an outhouse. This is a great place for a small group that wants to enjoy a weekend in the National Forest! We do offer dog sled rides in the winter months. Visit Firestar Kennel on Facebook. The sled dogs do reside on the property as this is a working sled dog kennel. There is a separate entrance to the kennel and there are people there twice a day to care for the dogs (morning and evening). In the winter months you may need four wheel drive to access cabin.

There is electricity, and pellet stove for heat, water needs to be hauled in. No running water in the cabin. Outhouse (privy) is the bathroom. This is a working sled dog kennel and our dogs are onsite in the kennel.

The Lumberjack Village is a 3 minute walk which offers the Scheer's Lumberjack Show, ice cream, mini golf, eating and shopping during the spring through summer.

Lake Hayward is .3 miles away and offers swimming and fishing.
Many lakes are within 15 miles!

Welcome to Animal Kottage! We are located in a secluded area in Hayward, WI on 3.5 pet-friendly acres and only 3 miles from enjoying the downtown atmosphere of this amazing city.
Enjoy your morning coffee on warm summer mornings and take in the evening sunsets while grilling on the back porch. Plenty of room in the yard for outdoor games experience or just enjoying some drinks around the firepit while the kids and dogs play.

The space
The house is fully furnished with a full kitchen and coffee bar. Each of the three bedrooms has lots of natural light and the property is secluded with just a single "neighbor".

The entirety of the house, 3.5 acre property, and garage are accessible to guests during their stay (except for a small closet area in the house where supplies are stored).

Other things to note
Watch as deer wander through the property on their way to the Namekagon river just a short walk away or as birds, bunnies, and other wildlife enjoy the quiet and remote location.
