The iComfort bed has a remote control where you can move the head or foot of the bed up or down or TV or Zero Gravity mode and others. (note - no dogs allowed on the bed) There is a non-pullout leather sofa and a 5-foot-long chaise lounger in the living room that two kids could sleep on (or you could use a small air mattress in the living room).

Max capacity for the cabin is 4 people. (Two is optimum)

There is a Blueray DVD player, and there are also Amazon Prime movies and a Roku for your viewing pleasure. There is a stereo system for great music in the living room and bedroom (and even outside if you like) including Sirius XM stations. You can also bluetooth music from your phone or laptop through the stereo receiver to the speakers in the living room, bedroom and behind the cabin.

The cabin is two levels, guests have access to the main level with a separate door and lock. Owners have a separate entrance to the upstairs (you can request owner not to be there). You can enjoy your coffee sitting on the deck overlooking the lake. The property also has an outdoor fire pit. Bring your own kayaks or canoes for a up close view of two different ship wrecks. The cabin has been remodeled but does have uneven floors and some windows that cannot be opened. The bathroom is rather small. Please be careful where the grass meets the rocks, there can be hidden holes. There is NO TV or WIFI. Cell reception is spotty. Contact us for pets and events.

It is located on the top of the Bayfield peninsula, less than a mile from beautiful Little Sand Bay beach on Lake Superior, and approx12 minutes from Bayfield.
There are gorgeous hiking trails, such a Frog Bay Tribal National Park, located within minutes from the cabin. There are also marked walking trails directly on the property itself.
The cabin has a very efficient woodstove, which is the primary heat source, but it also has a minisplit for heat and air, if necessary.

The cabin had everything we needed for the week, was very clean, and had its own trails in the back of the property that was great for a morning hike with our dog. The cabin offered indoor activites such as board games, books, and TV for when you want to relax inside and the 3 seasons porch was amazing to sit in the mornings and drink coffee. Awasishkode (meaning ‘beyond the fire’ in Ojibwe) is located less than a mile from Little Sand Bay Beach/Campground. This cozy, rustic cabin features accommodations for 6 people. Two twin beds in the upper loft area (no guard rails in loft so be cautious), 1 twin daybed with a twin trundle underneath and a full size futon downstairs. Mini fridge and freezer, complimentary coffee bar, outdoor charcoal grill, fire pit, picnic table/area, fresh water stream, hiking and wildlife! There is a porta potty with a lantern inside. There is electricity along with lanterns and flashlights but no running water. The campground down the road has potable water. There is a space heater on the small shelf near the coffee bar. Please reach out at any time if you need and I will do my best to assist if I’m able to.

There are pay showers located at the nearby campground for $4/shower. You will need quarters if you intend to utilize those.

Parking is available at the beginning/top of the driveway, to the left when you first enter the driveway. Please do not drive further down as you may get stuck if muddy. You can fit 2 vehicles there.

We did have a dog visitor frequently during our stay which was fine but might bother people with little kids. Check-in was smooth and the entire place was easy to navigate despite a blizzard rolling into town 24 hours earlier. The cabin is cozy in the most luxurious sense. Everything is new, clean, comfortable, and modern. The kitchen is ample enough to cook every meal and the living areas feel so much bigger than any sort of “tiny house.” The amenities were fantastic for either a short or long-term stay. The road that runs between the cabin and the lake is quiet and was infrequently traveled during our stay which made for peace and solitude with nothing obstructing the views. We absolutely plan to visit again during any season!"

Three separate, identical cabins situated on a hillside overlooking Lake Superior. These newly constructed cabins feature all of the comforts of home while boasting an unforgettable view of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, particularly Raspberry Island. In each cabin, you’ll walk into an open-concept living room and kitchen with panoramic windows and a sliding glass door to the private back patio. The living space is equipped with a Roku Smart TV and DVD player, as well as a queen sleeper sofa. Enjoy the view from the fully-stocked, modern kitchen. The cozy, quiet bedroom features a queen bed and modern ceiling fan/light combo. The spacious bathroom has a large walk-in shower! Head outside to utilize your cabin’s private patio furniture, grill, and fire pit. *Guests may use outdoor fire pit but are required to purchase their own firewood locally.* All linens, towels, and basic toiletries provided. Beach towels NOT provided. Kitchen stocked with essential cooking equipment and standard drip coffee maker.

NOW OFFERING PRIVATE HIKING, SNOWSHOEING, AND NORDIC SKIING TRAILS! Explore the rugged landscape and a wide variety of wildlife on these privately owned trails. The 3 short loop trails total just under one mile. The trails are marked by stakes and will be maintained on a limited basis. NO MOTOR VEHICLES ALLOWED, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Each cabin sleeps 12. Extra guest fee ($25/night per person) after 6 people.

A mature forest and a beautiful pond are what you'll see when you arrive at this cozy, secluded, full log cabin.
The cabin was recently completely renovated (Mar/April 2025)from log to log and is stocked with everything you'll need for your stay. It has all new appliances, furniture, fixtures, bathroom, cabinetry. 💚
It is the perfect homebase to relax after a long day of hiking Frog Bay, Houghton Falls, Lost Creek Falls, Meyers Beach, or shopping in nearby Bayfield, Washburn, or Cornucopia.

The space
The Squirrel was recently remodeled to make it a more open concept, Trappers cabin-like feeling.
The outdoor space has a fire pit next to the pond with four Adirondack chairs, a tripod for over the fire pit cooking, a propane grill, seating area with umbrella.
There is also a screened porch for relaxing in a bug-free environment.

Guest access
For recreation, you can hop on your bicycle and ride a mile down to the sandy shores of Lake Superior or you can drive your ATV or snowmobile right out of the cabin driveway and explore the Bayfield area and the Wisconsin State trail system.
There are 10-acres of beautiful, wooded trails on the cabin property to walk and explore.
