This has been a request over the years by guests to open cottage with variable numbers of bedrooms available for smaller groups in the off tourist season for winter hikers. Only one group at a time.

You will have full access to a large open concept kitchen/living room area. The Livery, located in downtown Walkerton features 3 seperate rooms that are all freshly remodeled. The Building was originally built in 1870 and served as the Livery for the town. The horse stables are long gone and now we offer a comfortable quiet place for guests in the area.

Lionheart Guesthouse is a red and white Victorian home, renovated in 2008 to maintain its original character and decor. It can be rented by the room or as a full house (max. occupancy of 9).

A bar fridge is shared between our two guest rooms in the entrance

We're on a drilled well, but all taps are potable.
We ask guests to keep showers short,
and give 15-20min between bathers,
so as not to empty the well.

We're on a septic system.
This means unlike cities, we're not connected to municipal sewer lines.
We have macerator toilets to protect the system,
allowing you to flush the septic safe toilet paper provided.
You will hear the pump when in use.

Absolutely no other items should be flushed down the drains/toilet (including chemical products which could disrupt the microorganisms in the system).

We have reliable wifi, a large array of books to borrow, and plenty of boardgames.

As we have a Dark Skies Bylaw, you will find both the rooms (and outdoors) quite dark at night - making for a fabulous sleep ;)

Guest access
Unlike a traditional bed and breakfast, our guest rooms are on the ground floor. Separate from our home space, offering you more privacy.

Out back are new hammocks, a firepit, charcoal bbq, two patio sets, and some yard games available to all. There are bits and bobs of other rustic handmade outdoor seating.

On the peninsula live black bears, coyotes, bobcats, eastern massasauga rattle snake, among much other wildlife. We're on a migration route and at the right time you're apt to see various hummingbirds, owls, eagles, hawks, herons, cranes, etc.

You can expect much of the property to be wild and natural.
We keep the 'weeds' as pollinators love them (and we often eat them too!)

Kindly keep the main entrance door closed behind you at all times for wildlife (though left unlocked). A key to your room is provided.

If you're unfamiliar with the area and plan on hiking, we suggest you bring light pants and good shoes.

During your stay
We text on the morning of check in to coordinate with you.

Texting our cell is the best way to reach us during your stay,
as we can't always get internet connection when on the road,
or in some parts of the peninsula.

We're very often around or nearby if you need anything.

Other things to note
This is a very rural area.
Restaurants may close early, and there are no big chain stores, night clubs, etc.
Occasionally you may find a Bayside Astronomy viewing, night cruise, or summer street dance.
If quiet bonfires and stargazing appeal to you, then you'll dig the area.

20min north is the village of Tobermory.
You will find boat tours, scuba diving lessons, and a variety of restaurants.

2min north is TruFood Cafe which has great sandwiches and healthy baked goods for a hike or day at the beach.

5min south is the village of Lions Head.
It has a marina at the beach, with a small playground and washrooms.
There are three restaurants.

2min south at Hwy 6 and Rd 9 is the UPI gas station in Ferndale.

20min south is the town of Wiarton. It has a large playground at the shore, with washroom facilities, and several restaurants in town.

The closest city is Owen Sound, ~45min south.

Georgian Bay on the east side of the peninsula has the clear blue waters seen in ads, stony shores and cooler swimming.
Lake Huron on the west has sandy beaches, which generally begin shallow and are warmer, but make for fantastic swimming.

Singing Sands, Grotto and Flower Pot Island are the main tourist attractions.
Popular hikes are the Lions Head Trail, Devil's Monument, Half Log Dump.

Private waterfront cottage 15 mins north of Owen Sound on the crystal clear waters of Georgian Bay.

With a 150 feet of shoreline shared only with a neighbouring cottage, enjoy the stunning sunrises, relax on a lounger, go for a swim, kayak, paddle board, go fishing or have a camp fire and stargaze.

Use our cottage as a jumping off point for many hikes along the Bruce Trail, Sauble Beach (35min), Tobermory (70min) and many more. Or just work from here while enjoying the great view and wifi.

The space
Recently updated, the cottage has a new kitchen and bathroom and two bedrooms.

The master bedroom has a real double bed mattress with a pull out twin bed underneath it. The smaller bedroom has a twin mattress and is not private because one has to go through it to get to the bathroom.

The modern yet rustic and comfy sitting area looks out through a wide bank of windows to the gorgeous view over the water.

You have the cabin to yourself which includes a spacious bedroom and a very comfortable living room with an amazing view of Owen Sound (the body of water off Georgian Bay, not the town), new kitchen and bathroom.

A peaceful, retreat in the heart of Meaford, situated on twenty-four beautiful acres, surrounded by mature trees, trails, orchards and stunning views, yet only three mins to downtown with the ever popular Meaford Hall, restaurants, shops, harbour, library and so much more. This newly built light filled coach house is above a separate garage with a fully stocked kitchen, comfortable living and dining areas, and two bedrooms, ( 1 queen & 1 king) plus a private deck ( which is not cleared in winter) with sweeping views of the land and beyond.

The property also includes the original farmhouse (owner occupied), an agricultural pond, The Black Barn and a newly developing flower farm called Belvedere Blooms.

(Part of the growing operation is activity around the greenhouse, which you can see from the back deck!)

Cosy and private 2 bedroom Stone Cottage directly across from Georgian Bay. Approximately half an acre with water views from the comfort of your living room. Enjoy the fire pit, bbq, games and everything this cottage has to offer. Walk 1.5 kilometres to town and see the caves from the Niagara Escarpment that are 450 million years old. It’s amazing!

Very clean and quiet. View of Georgian bay from the front yard. All brand new furniture, 2 bedrooms, kitchen, living room and 3 piece bath. We also added a brand new fridge with a freezer and a new microwave.

The cottage has lots of privacy and has approximately 1/2 an acre of land. There is its own Seperate entrance off of Everatt road and has a parking lot with 2 spaces. There is a lovely fire pit so you can have a campfire and there are camping chairs provided as well.

Other things to note
Everything in the kitchen is here for your convenience. All the dishes, pots, pans, plates glasses etc is already here. There is a brand new fridge with a freezer, a new microwave, toaster over, stove as well. All the bedding is supplied along with super soft throw blankets in the living room. The bathroom has dove shampoo, conditioner and body wash. No need to overpack when you come stay at the Stone Cottage! There are extra blankets on beds as well as extra pillows! There is also freshly ground coffee and filters, a tea selection, sugar, honey, extra virgin olive oil, vinegar, salt and a pepper mill for fresh cracked pepper. All your toilet paper and paper towels, Kleenex is here as well. There is different skin cleansers in the medicine cabinet as well as new bottles of foot cream for our hikers! This newly renovated loft as of spring 2024 is located on the second level of a garage building. It has a bedroom with a double bed, a full bathroom with a small shower, and a open concept living space with a kitchen, high top table, couch, sitting chair and TV. Outside, there is a balcony with a table and two chairs overlooking, the surrounding trees and georgian bay.

The entire space is for the guests. The owner lives in the house across the gravel road. There is a 25 meter little trail to the beautiful rocky shoreline of Georgian Bay for guests to access.

Other things to note
Guests are asked to bring their own bedding, pillows, towels. For short days of only a couple nights it’s much too difficult to keep up with the laundry for someone who works full-time. The price reflects this when compared to other waterfront accommodations of similar quality. If people are hiking through the area or are travelling from out of country, contact me and I can make some arrangements to provide bedding and towels.

The space
Alex room is a newly renovated bedroom overlooking the lake. The bedroom features a double bed, a large dresser for storage, and a small private 3-piece ensuite.

Guest access
Guests will be able to access the outdoor space, living room and dining room, shared with other guests in the house. A shared mini-fridge is available. There is no kitchen access, no microwave and no barbecue on site.

Our beautiful, large 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms cottage is located about 6 km west of Big Bay which has awesome public beach, public dock, about 40 km north of Owen Sound and 13 km northeast of Wiarton. There are so many amazing nearby sceneries worth to explore.
