The space
The Hillside Studio is a new build that was completed in 2024.

The Studio is equipped with:

* FREE Onsite parking that is limited to one (1) vehicle. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate vehicles with trailers of any kind.


ADDITIONAL NOTES ABOUT PROPERTY:

• The Studio is located above a detached garage off a main street. Guests may hear noise from below throughout the day due to traffic.

* This property does not have an elevator. Guests will be required to walk up one flight of stairs to the apartment space (15 steps).

• There is no TV in the Living Room, only in the Bedroom area.

• Your host lives onsite in the detached main house towards the back of the property.

Guest access
Guests can use driveway for up to One (1) Vehicle and will have their own designated spot.

Guests will not have access to the main house or backyard area of the property - unless invited by the host.

Kick back and relax in this calm, stylish space in a hidden corner of Midland. Enjoy kayaking from the shallow beach, chatting around the fire-pit, grilling dinner on the barbecue and dining on the deck. The town of Midland and the waterfront are a 15 minute walk. Bring bicycles and enjoy the Midland Waterfront Trail or venture further afield to Awenda Provincial Park or the Tiny beaches.

The space
Built in 2023, on the foundation of the original 1923 cabin, this compact 750 sq ft cottage has all the comforts of home. The open plan main room has a full, well equiped kitchen comprised of an induction stove, slim line fridge, nespresso vertuo coffee machine and other essential appliances. The sitting room features a Samsung Frame TV with Netflix, Disney, Prime and Apple TV and a gas fireplace. There is a dining nook with seating for four that can serve as a work space. The Hi Speed WiFi is adequate for most requirements.

There are two bedrooms - the master bedroom has a premium king bed, overhead fan and a sliding glass door leading to the back deck. The second bedroom has a premium queen bed. Both bedrooms are individually heated and have closets.

The compact washroom has a shower (no bath), sink, toilet and washer/dryer.

The 8' x 25' deck which is accessed through a sliding glass doors has a propane barbecue, outdoor dining and stairs down to a semi private backyard with a Solo smokeless firepit. From there it is short walk to the lake and dock. Little Lake is very shallow and warms up quickly and thanks to a small motor only policy is a great place to kayak, paddle board, fish or just lounge on the dock.

We live on the property with a large bouncy Bernadoodle named Otis. Even though he is friendly we keep Otis close to the house when we have guests.

We will greet you personally to show you where everything is and how it works. We are nearly always available if you ever have questions or need help.

Guest access
The entire cottage and semi private backyard is for you to use. The lakeside and dock can be accessed in a variety of ways - you choose the way that suits you best.

Other things to note
The property is on a hill leading down to the lake. Although the cottage is easily accessed from the driveway and the backyard has been levelled around the firepit the hill down to the lake may be challenging to some.

The lake is shallow but one must always be cautious around water and children must be supervised at all times. We have adult lifejackets and rescue bags for the kayaks but we don’t provide children’s lifejackets.

Hazards such as poison ivy, ground wasps, mosquitos, spiders and ticks are a part of life here. We will make sure we point out anything that may be hazardous.
