Relax with the whole family in this cozy log cabin located on the north end of Thunder Bay, just a three mile drive from downtown Alpena. Enjoy your own private beach with a grill, fire pit, and two kayaks you can launch right from our beach. Go fishing from the dock, soak in the hot tub, or just enjoy sitting on the porch watching the boats and ships sailing the lake. The cabin looks out at the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary and sits on the Sunrise Coast Birding Trail.
The cabin sits on Isaacson Bay, which is part of Thunder Bay on Lake Huron. Crystal clear water and plenty of wildlife await you.
The house features 2 bedrooms plus a loft with a pull-out couch. The first bedroom has a queen bed and plenty of storage space. The second bedroom has a bunk bed with a full size bed below and twin size bed above. There is also a desk and shelves in this room. The third sleeping area is in the loft with a full sized pull-out couch, desk, books and reading nook, and tv.
There are 1.5 bathrooms. The full bathroom has a tub with a shower head, and storage for your toiletries. The half bath includes a washer and dryer and iron.
The open floor plan offers views of the lake from nearly every room of the house. The fully stocked kitchen includes a full sized fridge and freezer, oven and stove, microwave, dishwasher, and coffee maker. There are plenty of plates, bowls, cutlery, cups and glasses, cutting boards, knives, and all the basics to allow you to cook gourmet meals as a family.
The entire house, yard, private beach, and hot tub are yours to enjoy. The camper, shed, and basement crawl space will be locked and inaccessible to guests. The cabin sits on a third of an acre, so there is space to spread out and enjoy the scenery.
The house is on a quiet road, but people drive fast down it and there isn't a fence to keep children or pets in, or wildlife off the property. Please keep an eye out to prevent wandering pets and children leaving the property unsupervised.
It is difficult to find such a quiet and picturesque spot on Lake Huron with so many amenities close by. Alpena offers boutique shopping, big-box store convenience, diverse restaurants and watering holes, interactive museums and a glass-bottom boat tour, tons of outdoor activities, and weekend fairs and festivals. The cabin is just a few miles down the road from downtown Alpena, but feels much farther removed. For those seeking outdoor adventures, within a 5 mile radius you can find hiking trails, biking trails, kayaking and canoeing, fishing, bird watching, and more.
While this is a peaceful and quiet place, there is some background noise from the cement plant that is about 1 mile down the road from us. On some days it's louder than others, but overall the sounds of bird calls overwhelm the hum of the plant.

While the interior of our cottage may have a touch of nostalgia, rest assured that it is meticulously cleaned to provide you with a comfortable and inviting stay. The water has been thoroughly tested and is safe to drink, although it is worth noting that it is hard water, which may not be preferable to some guests.
Please be aware that our Airbnb is located in a rural area with wildlife, including predators. We kindly request that you keep a close watch on your children and pets for their safety. This includes being cautious of animals such as Eagles, Hawks, Owls, and Coyotes, among others. Your vigilance ensures a safe and enjoyable stay in our countryside retreat.

Guest will be able to use and access the full home and yard area. Guest are also welcome to roam and explore the wooded property however we ask that any other activities other than hiking/picnicking be restricted to the immediate yard area around the home.
Any out buildings or barns may not be accessed.

ONLY 1 dog is allowed. We also ask for no cats please. Request can be made for exceptions.
This is also an ABSOLUTLY NO VAPING or SMOKING home. Violations are subjected to additional charges. All smoking activities must be done outside.

Water is hard although tested safe we recommend bringing bottled water to drink. Water may have a sulfur smell occasionally.

Enjoy an off grid experience at the Lumber Jack camp that is located on Red Pecker Farms and is only 10 miles from Alpena and Posen. It sits on 20 acres of land that has another cabin, a water tower, pavilion, and RV parking. Enjoy the many trails, deer, Pileated Wood peckers, and farm animals.

Our Lake It or Leave It Cottage, built in the 70s, boasts some true ‘cottage’ vibes but nonetheless, it’s the perfect place to relax (or not!) & make some memories! Whether you’re in town to enjoy Long Lake, attend an event, or tour beautiful NE Michigan, we’d love to host you! The space
Our cottage sits on a large lot with plenty of room for yard activities & chillin! We particularly sit in a cove where the water is shallow & perfect for kids. A few of our amenities include a fire pit, dock, small beach area, & covered patio! WiFi & a small desk area allows for remote work. We are just one road down from the public boat launch if you wish to bring your boat. Long Lake has a beautiful & rockin’ sandbar that’s sure to be a good time! Activities aren’t limited to summer, either, with ice fishing, skating, cross country skiing, and snowmobiling in the winter. There’s so much to do here - atv trails, fishing, hunting, boat harbors, festivals, beautiful downtown areas, wineries, & so much more! Most of our time is spent outside where we have breakfast on the patio, swimming during the day, & call it an evening with a bonfire on the lakeside! We look forward to sharing our little piece of paradise with you!

We have one bedroom on the main floor with a queen bed and four bedrooms upstairs (3 of them have queen size beds & the fourth has a full size bed with bunk beds).
All beds have sheets & a top blanket on them.
Our cottage is very rustic-ish with many imperfections. The lake is the place to be & the house serves as a quaint, old cottage.

If you have kids, there are toys, books, and a playhouse with swings in the backyard, plus 2 kayaks for the big kids and a pack-n-play and child-gate for the littlest kids. If you are swimming or kayaking in the lake, we recommend bringing your water shoes as there are sharp rocks and possibly some glass. Please do not bring glass out to the lake or the hot tub, there are plenty of plastic cups available for you to use in these areas.
Parking and laundry are available onsite. Please note that every entry to the house requires going up at least 4 steps and this is a 2-story house.
