The cabin is a semi-secluded ranch style home only minutes to the much sought-after Higgins Lake.
The cabin includes all linens, paper products (tt paper, towels) pot & pans, basic soaps, shampoo, & basic spices are included along with coffee/creamer. Outside (summer months) offers a BBQ grill, picnic table, fire pit, outdoor chairs, porch bench & large driveway. We also offer wifi with a 50" smart tv that you can access Netflix or your other streaming accounts. Sunrise Cove is conveniently located near hiking & snowmobiling trails. fishing, canoeing, cross-country skiing, local restaurants, stores, gas & much more.

This cabin is my personal 3rd generation place. We have personal pictures of family memories. This is a rustic cabin with personal items. Many rentals are like hotel rooms - this is not . If you wish to rent a place that is only a rental on the lake, this is not it! It will not be perfect - toys from 3 generation are on display there. Most people love it! I don’t want you to rent my place and then complain because it’s not sterile enough. There are many renters who think it’s wonderful and try to return. If you are picky or finiky, wanting brand new towels and nothing personal left in our cabin, then please‼️ rent another Cabin‼️ We do not want another bad review because they expected differently or didn’t read the description. We very seriously considered discontinuing renting because of the 1 bad review. If this makes you think twice, then please go to another rental‼️ This cabin rents quickly so leave the opportunity to others who will appreciate it ‼️

Listing Information:
Lady Slipper Lake House is only 500 feet from Higgins Lake! We share a seasonal dock with other owners on Lady Slipper Lane, but no overnight moorage is allowed. In the summer you can use the dock to access the lake to swim, fish, and other water based activities. In the evening, fire up the gas grill, grab a glass of wine and enjoy a campfire in the backyard with our fire pit, six adirondack chairs and picnic table. In the winter, it is just a stone's throw away to enjoy ice fishing and snowmobiling on Higgins Lake.

Lady Slipper Lake House is located 2 miles from South Higgins Lake State Park where you can launch your boat in the summer and 1.8 miles from the Cross Country Ski Headquarters from wintertime cross country skiing. We are located an hour and a half from Mackinaw City and Harbor Springs, the start of Michigan's "Tunnel of Trees". It's only a few minutes to state land for hunting, or to enjoy hiking trails around Marl Lake. Within a 30 minute drive you can reach the beautiful old growth forest of Hartwick Pines State Park, and as well as world class trout fishing on the Ausable River. Boyne Mountain resort for winter skiing and tubing is one hour away as well.

There are two bedrooms and and one full bathroom (shower only). We can accomodate 6 guests with one queen bed, one full bed, and two twin beds. The bedrooms were just renovated and one bedroom has a queen bed and the second bedroom has a set of twin bunk beds and a full size bed. If you need to work remotely there is also a desk in the bedroom with the queen bed. The house is cooled in the summer by window units (living room and bedrooms) and heated in the winter by a forced air furnace. Additionally, there are wall heaters in the bedrooms to make sure you are warm and cozy on cold Michigan winter nights.

Pets are welcome for a fee, but you must include them in the VRBO reservation.

We offer free Wi-Fi to our guests and a smart television so that you can access your Netflix or other streaming accounts. Live TV is available through our smart TV's "Youtube TV”app.

The kitchen is stocked with dishes, glassware, pots/pans, silverware, dishtowels, dish soap, sponges, paper towels, and various cleaning supplies. Toilet paper, shampoo, soap, hairdryer, towels, and washcloths are also provided. As an extra convenience, we offer a complimentary coffee and tea bar.

Went to Cut River Grille the first night, had the best grinders, you can split a half with someone. I don’t have to say anymore, many of the reviews were spot on. I would rent this property again."

NEIGHBORHOOD:

The cabin is just 3 blocks from the south shore of Higgins Lake, which is widely recognized as one of the most beautiful lakes in Michigan! The neighborhood is made up mostly of smaller cabins, the vast majority of which are vacation homes. There is a party store (Good Times Party Store) nearby that is only 0.6 miles from the cabin. The village of Higgins Lake is on the west shore of Higgins Lake and is about 5 miles from the cabin. There is bar and grill (Silver Dollar Pub & Grill) in the village. The area is very popular for fishing, ice fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing.

"Higgins Lake is a large recreational and fishing lake in Roscommon County, in the U.S. state of Michigan. The 9,900 acres (4,000 ha) lake is known for its deep, clear waters and is the 10th largest in Michigan with a shoreline of 21 miles (34 km). It is named after Sylvester Higgins, the first chief of the topographical department of the Michigan Geological Survey. It has a maximum width of 4 miles (6.4 km) and a length of 7 miles (11 km) with a maximum depth of 135 feet (41 m). The mean depth is 44 feet (13 m) and the lake contains almost 20 billion cubic feet (570×106 m3) of water. Its retention time is about 12.5 years. The lake's watershed covers 19,000 acres (7,700 ha). The twin-lobed lake receives half of its water from submerged springs, six percent from incoming streams, and the remainder from direct rainfall and runoff. It drains into Marl Lake by the Cut River which runs into Houghton Lake and eventually to Lake Michigan via the Muskegon River. A mile north of the lake, water flows into the Lake Huron watershed.

But if i have to be honest I was disappointed with the cleanliness of the inside and outside. Coffee pot was dirty, microwave was dirty &, there were a ton of spiderwebs everywhere and the house smelled incredibly musty. The outside trash was overflowing which made me wonder how long it had been since the trash had been picked up.The yard had multiple piles of dog poop and could of used mowing or a little weed whipping at the least.The grill was left uncovered so we didnt dare use it. On the positive side, the bathroom was one of the rooms that was very clean and there were alot of amenities. My cousin and I cleaned the plastic table & chairs found in the far back of the yard and spent most of our ttime sitting on those outside due to the smell of the house. We cleaned like crazy before we left because we were worried new tennants would walk into what we did.Ive been using virbo and renting cabins/cottages for 15 yrs...I will say the place does have great potential but it needs more effort spent on upkeeping the yard and cleanliness. The communication was AWESOME and although this review is not super I still believe with improvements it could be very nice"

- "Brooke was very responsive. Check-in and check-out was easy. The public beach is a short walk away. The fenced back yard was great for the dogs. Three of us stayed and had enough room. The entrance to the back yard is located in the larger bedroom, along with the Nespresso machine, so pick your bedroom wisely! " - "This was a perfect get away! Our vacation home is a great place to relax and enjoy Higgins Lake. The house is recently remodeled and super clean. The cabin is fully equipped with everything you need along with ceiling fans in the bedrooms, air conditioner and charging stations in each bedroom and living room. The kitchen is completely stocked with all necessities including coffee maker, microwave and griddle and a high top kitchen table that seats 8. Kitchen table does convert to a bigger table. The cabin will sleep 6 people comfortably. We have a king size bed and a queen size bed and a sleeper sofa with queen mattress with new sheets, pillows and blankets. 1 cozy bathroom with bath towels, face clothes, hair dyer and a first aid kit.

Outside we have a fire pit, starter wood and a propane grill for outdoor cooking and yard games for the family to enjoy.

Newly renovated Roscommon cabin less than a mile from Higgins Lake! Plenty of space for parking in the driveway and areas to each side for boat storage and additional vehicles. Single level cabin and easily accessible. There is one step onto the front porch and one step onto the side porch and back deck. Please be advised that there are currently no ramps yet on property.

Master features a queen bed, dresser, and doorwall to the back yard. Bedroom 2 features a full bed, dresser, and dedicated work area with folding desk and ottoman. Both rooms have wall hanging space and full size closets.

The living room features a fold down sofa bed that can sleep two small children or one adult, the back clicks down by pulling forward and lowering backwards.

A queen sized air mattress can be found in the closet of the second bedroom and if needed can be put in the living room when coffee table is rearranged against the TV console.

Garage is locked and not accessible to guests.

The cabin is within walking distance to the beach. It is a 5 minute or less walk straight into the water or the Sam-O-Set sand beach. There is a cute playground and pavilion across from the beach. You can also take a quick minute or two drive and park at Sam-O-Set Park if you don’t want to walk.

You are less than 11 minutes either direction to North or South Higgins State Park entrance.

There is a large boat and watercraft boat launch at West Higgins Lake Boat Launch about a 5 minute drive away. You can also launch larger watercraft at both North and South Higgins Lake Park just 3-4 miles from the cabin. There is a small craft launch just down the street just past Sam-O-Set Park. We have a 3 person inflatable kayak for use upon request. (2 adults and a child).

There is parking in front of the cabin for your trailer, boat or other water toys and parking in the driveway for cars.

There are several seasonal restaurants in the area. Grocery stores are about 20 minutes away on the other side of Higgins Lake or Houghton Lake. There are party stores and convenience stores nearby.

Location is close to Lyon Township Hall and Library, Park 27 with pickleball courts/children’s playground/live music Saturday nights. Silver Dollar Bar, Evergreen Party Store, West DNR Boat Launch, Boat Wash Station, Walking Trails, Bike Riding and the North State Park. Within 1.5 hour driving distance you can head to Traverse City area or Mackinaw City. A little closer, you can head to Grayling, Houghton Lake or Roscommon for markets, groceries, restaurants, movies, etc. Hartwick Pines State Park can be found East of Grayling and Marl Lake on the south end is a quiet spot to Kayak. There are bike trails, ORV trails and a new paved bike path near the North State Park. The best part is getting out and enjoying beautiful Higgins Lake. B&B Marina, Go Fast and Load-n- Go have boat rentals, kayaks, wave runners, sailboats or paddle boards. There is yoga on the beach at the South State Park on Saturday mornings.

The listing shows 2 bedrooms and a loft. One small bedroom is located off the living room and the stairs to the loft are located in this room. If you have guests staying in the loft, they will need to access this room. Please note the loft has limited head room. Also, the 2nd bedroom is located in the back next to the bathroom. This is not a typical bedroom - there is no door, but rather a curtain divider. It does not offer the same privacy as having a hard closable door would. There is an entry door into this space in addition to the utilities behind a divider.
