The Dragonfly cottage is a semi-secluded chalet style home only ½ a mile to the South State Park (10-minute walk) or 2-minute drive to the much sought-after Higgins Lake. The cottage is 6.7 miles along roadside to snowmobiling/orv trail system
The cottage offers an open spacious floor plan with all the comforts of home including central air for those hot uncomfortable summer nights. Outside offers a canopy covered BBQ grill, picnic table, fire pit, outdoor chairs, porch bench & large driveway. Some items are not available in late fall thru early spring timeframe. We also offer wifi with a 50" smart tv that you can access Netflix or your other streaming accounts along with a dvd player & surround sound system.

Enjoy this cozy cottage, just a short one mile drive to crystal clear Higgins Lake boat launch.

Our cozy cottage is nestled in a lush, green forest setting, and is one mile from the sixth most beautiful lake in the world, Higgins Lake and just a few miles north of the largest inland lake in Michigan, Houghton Lake. We have local trails to explore for snowmobiles, quads, dirt bikes, ATV's and side by sides just around the corner. Only 4 miles from the 6/7 trail head at the US-127 exit 201 that you can ride to from the driveway. We have a front deck with a gas grill and furniture out back to help you relax and soak up the summer sun! There's a large outdoor table with chairs as well as a picnic table. We have a large double lot with wooded lots on both sides (no close neighbors!) that provide a peaceful private up north setting along with a stone bonfire pit out back for roasting s'mores under the stars. For those rainy days enjoy a game of cards under the cathedral ceiling covered porch out back with a ceiling fan and dimmable LED lights!

Gerrish Twp. park is a local boat launch that is one mile away. It provides docking, boat launch, fishing, picnic area, and much more as you enjoy our Northern Michigan summers. Perch, pike, and trout are among the fish that can be caught in Higgins Lake plus public restrooms and a rinsing station. All is accessible by car.

South State Park and Campground is just 2 miles away which also offers a public beach and boat launch as well as camping.

Local pizza and ice cream from Polar Parlar is less than a mile away as well as Nibbles Ice cream and a fully stocked party store. For more needs theres also a Dollar General.

The cottage sleeps 6 comfortably with option of 8 if double up on the two full beds. We prefer no more than 6 adults, so the 8 would be with a few kids. We've had 3 10 yr old girls sleep in one full bed a few times while there were spare beds available (don't ask me why). A cozy family cottage interior, and offers many amenities to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.

With the cottage being located on the south end of Higgins Lake and conveniently located between US-127 & I-75 trips to Traverse City, Petoskey, Cheboygan and even Mackinaw Island are recommended day trips (each within 1.5 hours drive).

Thoughtfully done; nice looking and clean. A suggestion for the owners: adding plenty of wall hooks near the entry doors, in the bathroom, and in the bedrooms would be helpful. Replace the small dressers in the bedrooms with bookcases; they’re tall and narrow, and they’ll provide more/better storage. Replace the semi-sheer bedroom curtains with opaque curtains, or add privacy film to the glass. More toilet paper; one roll per day of stay, perhaps. Pleasant, wooded neighborhood, with a pretty little swimming area just on the other side of the adjacent Amvets lodge. Road-end lake access, no overnight mooring. Boat launches nearby. Recommended!"

There is an oversized couch to sleep on for an extra guest as well as a 3 season furnished sunroom. Kitchen and bathroom have been semi-updated with plenty of room to cook and prepare meals. The cabin does not have AC, we have 3 woozi remote control fans throughout the cabin. Large deck overlooking the creek and property and a firepit to enjoy the summer and fall nights. Coveniently located 3 minutes from North Higgins Lake State Park, there is also a paved bike trail a few minutes away. Higgins Lake is 1 block from the cabin. All amenities are included, such as a fully stocked kitchen, towels and linens all provided. Enjoy the chill vibe and beautiful crystal clear waters of Higgins Lake in the summer and the fall color change and gorgeous groomed xc ski trails nearby for winter getaways.

It was a perfect fit for us…a mother, daughter and grandson. Beautifully decorated and still had so much original charm from the vintage appliances to the massive antique sink in perfect condition. Everything you could need was at our fingertips from fans to heaters. We were greeted with a bottle of Rosé, the linens were top notch and the sofas were solid, comfortable and spacious. Water pressure was great and towels luxurious! She had magical outdoor lighting and anything else you could need was available in the shed…grill, beach chairs and floats, etc. Cottage was clean, offered books and games, plus Wi-Fi, with Netflix, & Amazon Prime. The owner was quick to respond and very kind. Wouldn’t have changed a thing and will most definitely book again in the future. Could see the lake from the front, nice short walk to Higgins. Amazing location close to pretty much everything. North beach right around the corner."

This cabin is my personal 3rd generation place. We have personal pictures of family memories. This is a rustic cabin with personal items. Many rentals are like hotel rooms - this is not . If you wish to rent a place that is only a rental on the lake, this is not it! It will not be perfect - toys from 3 generation are on display there. Most people love it! I don’t want you to rent my place and then complain because it’s not sterile enough. There are many renters who think it’s wonderful and try to return. If you are picky or finiky, wanting brand new towels and nothing personal left in our cabin, then please‼️ rent another Cabin‼️ We do not want another bad review because they expected differently or didn’t read the description. We very seriously considered discontinuing renting because of the 1 bad review. If this makes you think twice, then please go to another rental‼️ This cabin rents quickly so leave the opportunity to others who will appreciate it ‼️

We were able to walk to beach and launch our pontoon boat there. Also south higgins lake state park was short drive. Cabin was clean and had plenty of space for my family of 4 and my parents even joined us 2 nights. It had a washer and dryer for clothes, air conditioning, and a grill which were all a plus. And the location was great would definitely stay again."
