- "We LOVED our time at your cabin. It was perfect for us, the location, the views, the beds, amenities, the community atmosphere, everything. Being from Texas, the reprieve from the brutal summer heat was just what we needed. Getting to know Michigan was delightful. We are already talking about coming back next summer…maybe even find a way to stay longer. We’re not even to the airport to return home and we already miss it. Thank you for this sweet refuge of a place. ♥️"

*WILDLIFE DISCLAIMER*

Coming to beautiful Northern Michigan includes the possibility of wildlife encounters. We have midges, spiders, mosquitos, occasionally black flies and an assortment of other insects. We spray regularly to keep them at a manageble level but we also don't want to damage the fragile ecosystem here. Note that where there is water, there will be spiders. They are very industrious and can build back a knocked down web within a day!
They are also great for controlling mosquitos and wasps, which we appreciate.

We treasure the wildness of the North and perhaps that is what attracts you.

Consider yourself lucky if you catch a glimpse of any of our other wild neighbors - black bear, wolves, deer, elk, coyote, fox, bobcats, porcupine, skunks, raccoons, eagles, hawks, squirrels, chipmunks and mice as well as a massive variety of birds.

We ask you to consider this before booking one of our cottages or cabins.

The presence of wildlife is part of the experience here and does not warrant a refund.

The view was great and the location was perfect." - "Enjoyed my mornings and evenings, looking out at the view with my beverage of choice. This was a central location to visit many areas in northern Michigan and the UP. The owners were very friendly and informational. The cottage was clean and comfortable and whatever you needed was nearby but you felt like you were very secluded because of the location near the lake. We definitely have this one on our list of favorites."

It was the perfect location!" - "This is a very nice place to stay, clean, quiet, beautiful setting, very peaceful with plenty of space and trees. I would stay here again. Thank you Calvin and Carol." - "This cottage was perfect for what we needed! Our daughter had a softball tournament in Cheboygan. The place was very clean and cute! Bathroom was very nicely updated. It’s a retro mobile home that’s updated. Perfect spot right on the river. The owners were amazing and have the house right behind the cottage. Great people. The neighbors on the other side were quiet. We were told by the owners that the neighbors aren’t very dog friendly. The lot is smaller so just keep that in mind if you bring your dog. You have to make sure that they stay on the cottage property. Also, if you plan on fishing right there it’s very shallow so no fish right at the cabin. The lake and dam aren’t very far away so you can go fishing there. We didn’t have time to use the kayaks but they were there and very nice. Bring sheets and towels, as those aren’t provided. Highly recommend this place for a nice get away!!"

- "Great weekend with the kids. They had a blast fishing almost non-stop. Each child caught at least one fish. Terry, or his son, was kind enough to show my grandson how to properly filet a fish, which was much appreciated. The reason I gave only 4 starts for accuracy of the online listing, is the swimming area was not very nice. There is a lot of seaweed that comes very close to shore, so the area for swimming was very small. Three of the four kids got in anyway and had a good time with the lily pad. Overall I'd definitely recommend this spot."

- "Great place to enjoy the Mackinaw City area. The cabin has everything you need to make meals and is clean, nice and cozy. I think it looks better than on pictures. The only complaint we have is the mattress, it is too soft. Other than that, a really nice cabin with fire pit and benches just steps to Lake Huron and the views of the lake and the Mackinac Bridge are spectacular." - "The lake was gorgeous and the cabin was just perfect. We will definitely be coming back!"

- "We had an amazing time in Cheboygan!! Excellent communication and had what we needed when we needed it!" - "It was a wonderful cabin for a weekend getaway for my friends and I. Our dog also came and had a good yard to run around in! The cabin had a game room, kayaks, a cute creek right behind the house, and a bonfire pit. The cabin itself was very clean. The kitchen was a huge plus for us bc we all love to cook! It had all your basics - pots, pans, plates, bowls, glasses, cooking utensils, microwave, and coffee maker. The cabin was in a nice and quiet area. Just about 5-10 minutes away from a couple state parks with beaches. Brandon was very communicative and friendly! Whenever i had a question, he would respond within a couple of minutes. He had an a/c put it during our stay as well! 10/10 would recommend!"

- "We enjoy our time at this property very much. The place is lovely, the view is gorgeous, nice and quiet. Communication was excellent. " - "Such a beautiful view!! Very nice cabin and so clean!!" - "A great place to stay and rejuvenate" - "The location is incredible. Couldn't ask for a better location. The winds, the trees, the sounds of the water, phenomenal! The downsides were that the bathroom toilet is fisher price toddler size. Besides being infant sized, it has a mind of its own when it wants to flush (even number 1) fully. Sometimes it fills the bowl with clean water after it decides to completely flush. Other times, it only replaces the water in the bowl with half fresh water, and leaves behind toilet paper. Yes, this is nightmarish when you have to actually "use the bathroom" more than just number 1. You seriously don't know if it will flush or not. Repeated flushes did seem to help. When using the kitchen sink, I banged my head very hard on the kitchen cabinet, as it is right in the way at head level for someone who is 6 feet tall. Other than the toilet issues, kitchen cabinets at face level, and the multiple spiders we killed because someone simply hasn't sprayed, the stay was nice. The location is terrific! We still enjoyed it immensely!"

" - "We ended up booking Joe's Black River Hideaway at the very last minute, when other plans fell through. Nick was very responsive (even when I gave him the wrong check-in date!) The cabin had everything we could ask for. I particularly enjoyed the three-season room, where I spent most of my time, watching the river as I had my coffee in the morning, and watching the sunset in the evening. What a great experience."

- "Had a great trip. The beach is sandy and shallow, you can walk about more than 50 yard and it still only 2 feet deep. We had fires every night and you’re only 30 minutes from Mackinaw City for a quick day trip. I think the only real negatives we can see is your cottage is right in front of the sand bar that everyone In Cheyboygan seems to anchor at, so Saturday there were hundreds of boats." - "Nice experience" - "Lovely little cabin in a quit spot with a short walk to a private sandy beach area. The kids loved playing in the shallow water and catching the frogs!"

Wildlife disclaimer.

Red Pines Resort: 3 Beachfront Cabins on Long Lake
Cabin
Cheboygan

Nestled on a bluff above pristine, spring-fed Long Lake, our 3 cozy cabins blend rustic charm with modern amenities. Whether gazing out on the sparkling waters with a cup of coffee, splashing and sunbathing on the beach, savoring the red blaze of a stunning sunset, roasting a marshmallow under the stars, or exploring Mackinac, Cheboygan, and surrounding areas--Rosy Pines provides a perfect waterfront retreat. We only ever book the entire property, so the price you see is for all 3 cabins.

The space
KEY FEATURES AND AMENITIES:

🏞 Private and secluded 2-acre property.
🏕 Rustic, camp-like feel with modern amenities.
🌊⛱ 300 feet of private waterfront, including dock and sandy, walk-in beach. Note that the property is on a small bluff and there are about 20 steps down to the waterfront.
⭐️ Central location between Cheboygan, Mackinac, Indian River, the Chain-of-Lakes, Black Lake Recreation Area, and more.
🌅 Gorgeous sunsets, especially from the beach area.
🛶 Two kayaks and two paddleboards provided.
🚤 All-sports lake, great for tubing and wakeboarding. Bring your boat (there is a public launch) or rent from nearby marina.
🐟 Fishing -- walleye, bass, pike.
🔥 Two fire pits on property and we usually have firewood that you are welcome to use.
🍔🥩 Propane grill.
☕ Coffee bar, including drip coffee maker, ground coffee, Keurig machines, and pods stocked.
🚀 Wi-Fi -- high-speed, fiber optic wifi is available inside the cabins. Note that the service deteriorates the farther you are from the cabins (no wifi at lake front).
📶 Cell service -- cell service is spotty. When you are in/around the cabins, please connect to the wifi and turn on the "wi-fi calling" feature on your phone. This is usually free and helps you make and receive calls.
🚗 Parking -- there is ample parking for vehicles and boat trailers on property.
🎣 Several other amenities/toys for your enjoyment, including two hammocks, coolers, fishing poles, a few kid life jackets, toys, a swing set, cornhole, other outdoor games, and more.
🧸 Child-Friendly: Equipped with one pack-and-play, outdoor play pen, swing set, sand toys, children’s books, and more. Please note: while our own kids have spent many nights here from the time they were in diapers, please be aware that the nature of the property being on an elevated bluff and including natural forest, means there are hazardous areas to be aware of (for example, the edge of the bluff, the rock seawall that can get slippery, fallen trees in the woods, etc.). Please examine the listing and photos carefully, feel free to ask us any questions, and make sure any parents are comfortable with the layout of the property before booking. That said, with appropriate supervision, we think Rosy Pines is a fantastic place for the whole family to make memories that we hope will last a lifetime.

🍺🍕 For a quick beer, bite, or takeout, two restaurants within a couple minutes of the property are: Black River Bar (great pizza) and the Dirty Duck Saloon.

🍽 The Hack-Ma-Tack (short drive). Iconic 1800s restaurant and lodge on the Cheboygan River.

🍷 Wineries -- Crooked Vine Vineyards (40-minute drive) and others near Petoskey

🚤 Boating -- bring your own boat or rent from a local marina that will deliver to our lake (call well in advance). In addition, the "forks" boating access site is a great nearby boat launch for access to the chain of rivers and Lake Huron (through the Cheboygan locks).

🥾 Hiking, biking, and ATV trails -- Many excellent trails for all types of activities at Black Mountain Recreation Area (short drive).

⛳ Golf -- Black Lake Golf Club (15-minute drive)--consistently ranked one of the best courses in the state; Indian River Golf Club (25-minute drive)—very nice course; Mackinaw Club Golf Course (30-minute drive); Boyne Highlands (45-minute drive)--several excellent courses.

💦 River rafting and tubing, ATV tours and more -- check out Big Bear Adventures in Indian River (25-minute drive).

🌊 Tahquamenon Falls State Park (2-hour drive)

🍁Tunnel of Trees (1-hour drive)
