Lakeview log cabin that is 2 bedroom, 1 bath with kitchen, dining and living area, large deck overlooking lake, secluded but right off the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Great spot for reconnecting with nature, birds, and the many trails over the property and walk down the country road.
Nearby to many places of interest, such as Floyd, Rocky Knob hiking, Mabry Mill, Nancy's Fudge factory, Morrisette Winery.
- "The cabin is very nice and well equipped. We were very impressed Anna and Vernon the Host were fantastic. The only thing that could have made it better would have been if there had been a cover over one of the porches as we tried to spend as much time outside as possible the rain made it tough. With that being said that is not a complaint we brought rain coats, so we still had a great time. I will share the location with others" - "We couldn't have been happier with our stay. excellent experience and we will be back. beautiful property, great fishing and great communication with Ann."

- "If your looking for an authentic historic log cabin experience the "Old Cabin" will tic all the boxes. This place is warm and welcoming just as soon as you top the hill and see that red roof in the distance. Between 15 mins to an hr drive you will never run out of things to see, do or experience. Or you could take advantage of everything that comes with staying at the cabin. Walk to enjoy the two ponds, go fishing, (bring your own poles or use one of the ones from the front porch) or go to the pool at the campground. Nothing can disrupt your Zen while you're watching the flames from the fire in the LARGE fire pit, that comes with all the wood you could wish for. And Pam, the host is one of the most generous and nicest host that we have encountered yet, out of anyone we have booked with. She is genuinely committed to making sure her guests have the best stay they possibly can have and are lacking of nothing. I recommend to anyone to come and stay at the "Old Cabin". It is beautifully decorated with so many little treasures we were still discovering things we hadn't seen even after staying 4 nights. Look at how it was built and be in awe. Not many of these old cabins built this way are still standing. The beds are extremely comfortable and don't worry about getting cold. Not a chance. Pam has enough quilts up there to cover a small army. We are most definitely going to return as soon as possible..if my 7yr grandson had his way we would be returning tomorrow."

Very clean, comfy bed, good water pressure, still got great cell phone signal. Enjoyed sitting outside with the birds singing. The only thing that would’ve made it perfect is if the night sky had been clear while I was there. I really wanted to Star gaze. This is a great place to get away from the hubbub and decompress. The town of Floyd has plenty of good local restaurants if you don’t want to cook. I wish I could’ve stayed longer, so I could’ve hiked, but I was on a short visit and had to help my friend. Maybe at sone point the owners will get done Adirondack chairs for the yard. I had my own camping chair, I think I saw they had 2 chairs in the corner of the kitchen."

This is a farm stay directly next to a goat barn, which offers an up close farm experience with all the associated sites and sounds!
The goal of our cabin is to give guests an up-close view of life on a farm :).
The cabin is on the edge of our active family farm, and directly beside the dairy goat barn. We have a small herd of miniature goats you are welcome to visit with - chances are, they'll reach their heads over the fence for a pet :).
Our livestock dog lives with the goats, and you will hear her bark. (We provide ear plugs in case of night time barking). The goats love visitors, so please let us know if you want to take part in the farming, or just give treats :).
We are also happy to have our guests take part in some of the farm activities.
Bring your sense of adventure, but please do not book if you will be bothered by goat sounds, a dog barking or rooster crowing! We want you to be happy wherever you stay!
The cabin has a driveway to the front door and is accessible by 3 stairs onto the porch. It's perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring and listening to the quiet sounds of the country.
We have found that our guests are interested in having some local amenities available upon check-in. We love to make our guests comfortable, so have put together a variety of packages for you to select from upon confirmation of reservation. (If you'd like to see the packages ahead of time, please just send us a message here).
There is NO SMOKING on the property, inside or outside.
On the main level of the cabin, you will find a kitchenette (compact oven, microwave, coffee pot, refrigerator and sink), dining/living area, the bedroom and bathroom. There is also a loft with an additional full size bed, accessed by a sturdy ladder.
Please note that the cabin is on the edge of the woods, and you may encounter wildlife while here :).
Early check-in is available upon request and scheduling availability.
Relax in our cozy and comfortable cabin located on a small, family run dairy goat farm!

Relax in our cozy and comfortable cabin located on a small, family run dairy goat farm.
Please be sure to read the entire description before booking. Wifi is not available in this cabin! (It is available at our other cabin - Spring Side Cabin).
Enjoy the sounds of nature from the large deck overlooking the creek below.
On clear nights, stargazing is incredible right outside the cabin door...or walk to the top of the hill for an even longer range view. :)
Enjoy the country life while still only being 10 minutes to the musical and artistic town of Floyd, VA.
This is a tiny cabin perched on a hill overlooking Beaver Creek.
When you stay, you will have access to a private deck overlooking the creek and a fenced area for parking and relaxation. The deck is large enough to spend the day relaxing in nice weather, and the evening around the fire pit! There is also a wildflower garden when in season.
The cabin is located approximately 300 feet from the main house in case you need anything. It is located on an active family farm with children and animals. While we give you plenty of space and privacy, you will experience all the fun and activity of the farm. Note: There is NO SMOKING on the property, inside or outside.
We have chickens and dairy goats. The goats love visitors, so please let us know if you want to take part in the farming, or just give treats :).
There is a loft which holds a queen mattress and a futon that folds out to a full size bed in the main level. The loft is reached by climbing a sturdy ladder. However, **those with mobility concerns may find it more challenging to climb.**
The bathroom contains a standup shower and modern composting toilet. **The toilet does have special instructions (everyone sits for all bathroom use, urine catchment must be emptied every couple days) - feel free to ask any questions!**
PLEASE NOTE: If the instructions are not followed, it causes a lot of extra work in cleaning properly. **If instructions are not followed, there will be an additional cleaning fee at host's discretion. **PLEASE ASK if you have any questions with the toilet!
The mini-kitchen offers a toaster, microwave, hotplate and refrigerator. Please note there is not a full stove, but we do have a grill available for guest use.
Please note that the cabin is on the edge of the woods, and you may encounter wildlife while here :).
Early check-in is available upon request and scheduling availability.
- "Cabin is charming, and thoughtfully provisioned. Enjoyed hanging out on the deck and the gorgeous view from the top of the hill. It's a short trip to downtown Floyd, loved the Saturday market and the Coutry Store!" - "My husband, 10 yr old & puppy stayed here for 1 night while driving down to Carolina. I would say that staying here is like glamping. It’s off grid so the toilet is a very different experience then we are used too lol. The water tank makes noise when using so being mindful of that if someone is sleeping. We got here @8pm & left early the next day so unfortunately we didn’t get to enjoy the fire pit, goats & the scenery. I would recommend here for maybe a single person or a couple. Floyd is a great little town."

Explore 66, mostly wooded, acres with a stocked catfish pond, two zip-lines, a hot tub and some amazing views of rural Floyd along our private trails. Our wooded property gives each cabin a secluded feel with nature views from every window as well as two mountain lookout spots just a short hike away. The center of town (Floyd) is an 11 mile scenic drive. The Blue Ridge Terrace is a private entrance upstairs cabin located above my husband’s wood shop. This unit is separate from our home located 20 yards away. The views from the windows are of the forest and pond.
Bring your fishing poles and some chicken livers when the weather is warm, and you are almost guaranteed to catch a catfish! Please modify your hooks for catch and release only (we can show you how).
Cell coverage is an issue throughout Floyd. We have installed a cell signal amplifier on the cabin and have great cell and data service from the nearest Verizon tower (several carriers use this network). Others may be iffy. We have the best internet plan available in Floyd County (new fiberoptic cable upgrade). This doesn't mean we can control system outages, but we will call the provider and keep you informed if there is an issue.
Power outages happen a few times a year; usually when we have big snow storms (late Jan- early Mar). They normally last a few hours. For overnight outages we can offer a generator to run heat and the fridge along with candles, or the option of a refund.
During late fall/winter hunting season, you may encounter a deer being dressed from the deer hanger, or fish being cleaned in the catfish shack during summer. There will occasionally be a tractor or two running during the day. Wear something orange (two vests are provided during hunting seasons) while exploring close to the property line at the top of the mountain during the first and last hours of daylight. We will notify you the day before if my husband or father-in-law (experienced hunters) plan to be in the woods.
We welcome all walks of life here, including dogs who get along well with other animals. Our dog, Silas, runs free and may try to follow you on your hikes. Just let us know if he is a pest. We look forward to meeting you and yours!
- "Excellent location! Lots to do on the property and nearby. The hot tub was great. The beds were extremely comfortable! The owners were amazing and very helpful. We looked at some other rentals but are very happy with our choice and want to stay here again. Silas, the dog, was also a nice addition!" - "The cabin had everything we needed…beautifully decorated and attention paid to details. The grounds were spectacular, great hikes, fun activities and the owners were warm and gracious. Thanks for providing a wonderful space to visit with our daughter, we enjoyed it immensely!"

If you're looking for the richness of the outdoors and a private creek view camp but want all the comforts of a warm cozy bed, hot shower and a stocked kitchen, look no further. This home will give you a taste of camping with the comforts of home. This clean and comfortable camper is located in the rural countryside on a family farm where you can enjoy beautiful views of grazing farm animals, a creek and maybe some wildlife. The many attractions of Floyd County are close by.
- "This simple but roomy camper was tidy & cozy, w/ many amenities (freezer, fridge, gas stove, TV, radio, linens, good cell service) & the perfect getaway to take my twin daughters for college fall break. I don’t think you can even see another house from there (maybe one), but the fall foliage, grazing cattle, rolling hills & winding creek were serene & breathtaking. While there, we enjoyed nearby Floyd (lovely quaint town with one stoplight!) & their farmers market, live bluegrass & reggae music, perusing many artisan shops, ice cream at the general store, a huge crafts fair, food trucks, then home-cooled dinners & cozy bonfires/S’mores at night. We even visited a local church service/Pastor Appreciation potluck meal (where we were welcomed like family). This host was friendly & informative….always just a phone call away. A wonderful, peaceful getaway with many great photos, laughs & happy memories. We could’ve easily stayed for a month! 😊"

There are trails throughout the 30 acres to enjoy, a creek on each side of the property. *PLEASE NOTE WE NO LONGER ACCEPT PETS.

The entire cabin is available, as well as the pavilion and acreage surrounding. This is a working farm, the garden area is planted, and there is a chicken coop adjoining the property. We are in the house next to the cabin, and will help as much/little as needed.
Other things to note
The cabin was built in the 1840's, and is in the "dogtrot" style. It has been kept largely as it was then, with the addition of electricity and plumbing. Heat, A/C and a new stove and fridge keep things easy. The original owner raised ten children, and joined the army during the Civil War, where he died at Gettysburg. There is a family cemetery on the hill above the cabin. We love the restfulness and tranquility of the setting, and hope to preserve it for future generations to enjoy as well. It is on the Virginia Historic Registry.

This cozy cabin is tucked in private woods, yet steps away from the Blue Ridge Parkway, 2 epic hiking trails, a winery and mountain & road biking options. If you opt to hop in a car, you are 5 minutes away from a 2nd winery, scenic overlooks, or a zipline adventure. The snug cabin offers a small, but very functional kitchen, a wide main porch with a charming view, and an outdoor upper balcony. The property is surrounded by woods, a small meadow and springs ripe for exploration.
Other things to note
Washer and dryer
If you opt for a long stay or need the washer/dryer, we would open up the basement so that you have access to the them. But the basement space isn’t set up for guests. It is owner storage and will be tidy but not hard core scrubbed like upstairs. It is a basement and it feels like a basement. Give us a heads up if this is of interest.
**WINTER CAVEATS**
Winter on the side of this mountain can be an adventure! There are some things you should know:
- The walkable winery (Villa Appalachia) closes for the season from Dec 19-March 12 (but that is subject to change for weather and whatnot).
- Another winery (Chateau Morrisette) has indicated that they will continue to be open 7 days a week with the exception of TBD hours for January and inclement weather. Please check their website for contact info.
- Sometimes the section of the Blue Ridge Parkway that we are next to closes. Which makes commutes a bit longer BUT also means that the Parkway becomes our personal wonderland as we are right next to the gate. When the road closes, we can use the Parkway and all the area of the National Park Service without the cars.
- For snow, we have a parking spot at the top of the hill. We also have a tractor, live next door and will plow the road as necessary.
- If we lose power, we will have a wood stove in the basement. We do lose power a couple of times a year for a few hours or a day, on the rare occasion longer. The worst of our weather is typically in later January, February or March. We have improvements on our power plan in progress, feel free to reach out.
- You will be our neighbor. About a five minute walk through the woods, we are just next door. So if you need anything, we can help.

Other things to note
We live a rural area and occasional when the doors are left open unwanted guests walk in. We do our best to keep pests out but you can help us. If you see anything, even if you are not bothered, please tell us before you leave. Do close the doors before you leave the cabin, even if you are taking a short walk. If the temperature is above 85 outside please leave the AC on when you exit and if the temp outside is below 45, do not turn off the heat under any circumstances. Upon exit Used towels can be placed in the bathroom and trash, more than what fits inside a single trash can, can be taken to the dumpster at the bottom of the hill at the Event Center. We appreciate guests who wash their dishes but understand that things come up. Keys should be placed back where you found them and the door unlocked. The Floyd EcoVillage is an unapologetically welcoming community and we do not tolerate hate or harassment of any kind to any person.

Escape to the Blue Ridge Mountains in Floyd County as you enjoy your vacation back in the country. The house, located in these mountains, was built in 1975 by family and friends and is located on our family farm of 50 acres.
The house has 1750 sq. ft. with natural wood finishings and decorated with some of our family antiques. Relax as you sit on one of the foot bridges that cross over the small creek to the house. The gas grill and firepit is a great way for cooking or entertaining!
The space
This family farm is now "retired". There are several landscape gardens, barns, old logging roads, and wooded areas with lots of wildlife.
Once arriving, you will walk up seven steps to enter the house. After inside you will see a fireplace made with rock collected from the creek right in front of the house. The fireplace has a wood burning stove insert you can use for heating in the winter. There are two bedrooms on the main floor and two upstairs.
The kitchen has an electric stove, dishwasher, side by side refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, toaster oven, crock pot, electric skillet, and stocked with standard utensils. While sitting at the dining table you will have a nice view through the bay window of one of the walk bridges over the small creek.
We are pleased to offer general supplies for starters in the house to include paper towels, napkins, dish washing detergents,
dishwasher tabs, general purpose cleaners, coffee, soaps, shampoo, and tolet paper. If you need to replenish these supplies or need other supplies you may go to our local General Dollar or grocery in Floyd.
