Lumeria Maui is an educational retreat center located in beautiful Upcountry Maui. We offer classes and programs in yoga, meditation, healing arts & metaphysical studies, horticulture & culture, and dance & movement therapies. Our historic compound, originally built in 1910, has been extensively renovated and carefully redesigned to meet the growing needs of individuals and groups seeking alternative and experiential learning. Guest rooms and suites are offered for community students and island visitors seeking overnight accommodations while on retreat. Overnight lodgers must enroll in Lumeria’s daily classes or be part of a focused retreat group. Lumeria’s onsite restaurant, The Wooden Crate, serves farm-to-table nourishing and delicious meals to students, retreats, community patrons and visitors, and The Wellness Spa at Lumeria offers bodywork, massage and healing arts therapies and private lessons. A saltwater pool and hot tub are available for guest relaxation. A sun terrace with lounge chairs is provided. Golfing and swimming beaches are located within 3.1 mi. Renowned surfing opportunities on the North Shore are at Baldwin Park and Ho'okipa Beach Park, just 4 miles of Lumeria Maui an Educational Experience. A cozy room offering a king-size bed and a queen size bed. Guests can enjoy a small refrigerator, microwave, electric kettle, coffee pot, desk, private bathroom with shower, large closet, and a small outdoor sitting area. As guests of Hale Akua Garden Farm & Eco-Retreat Center, we offer access to our sixty-foot swimming pool, large hot tub looking over the ocean, infrared sauna, shared retreat-kitchen facilities, and to purchase our organic farm's produce and eggs.

Our eco-retreat center is situated in the lush tropical rainforest of north shore Maui in Haiku, making our property the perfect location for growing organic fruits and vegetables. The land is bathed in ocean trade winds and negative ions from the 150-foot waterfall just below us. We offer an alternative Maui experience in comparison to the leeward side resorts and are the perfect mid-point stay for a road to Hana journey.

The center's buildings are situated along the cliffside of a seven-acre property. The Plumeria room is on the ground floor of the Ohana House, just a short walk to the shared: pool, hot tub, sauna, and kitchen.

Hale Akua is a magical and idyllic place created and designed to provide a natural and supportive environment for groups, couples, families, and individuals to relax, renew, and restore well-being.

Guests have access to the eco-retreat facilities which include the large saltwater pool, hot tub overlooking the ocean, kitchen, and dining area. Guests can also get guidance on what is great to visit by looking through our guidebook in their room or asking for help at the office.

Office is open Mon - Sun from 9am - 5pm. We also provide an after-hours phone if you need anything outside these hours. Upon your booking, we provide you with a Welcome Booklet that includes local recommendations and anything else you may be wondering about before and during your stay.

Note: Please keep in mind, our center is a rustic compound in the middle of the jungle. We do have de-humidifiers and air purifiers in every room. We are centered in a tropical rainforest with many weird and wonderful insect species. We only use natural pesticides and cleaning chemicals on the property. As a result, we occasionally have more animal visitors. These may include geckos, ants, flying cockroaches, centipedes, cane spiders, and mice. We are in their natural habitat, so we will not be able to refund any portion of your stay for these house guests.

The price listed includes cleaning fees and extra coffee, tea, and cream if needed in the room.

The solar electric system at Hale Akua currently consists of 200 solar panels, 12 inverters, and 24 solar batteries. Our founder Lori Grace has invested in this system to prevent unnecessary contributions to climate change. This solar electric system will add another two days of electricity, provided there has been an adequate amount of sunlight charge before an electrical outage. We also have 10 Eco-Flow batteries (3kw electricity per room) which can add two to three days of electricity if needed. Learning to live on limited electricity is a wonderful and necessary education for our current climate situation. We would like for all our guests to learn to work together with our staff in these situations.
Large hotels here on Maui that experience an electrical failure do not provide backup power, nor do they offer refunds. As we do not feel responsible for Hawaiian Electric’s failures, there will be an opportunity for education rather than a refund if we have an outage, and our staff will assist you the best they can.

About this space
Very private 1920's historic log cabin retreat. Beautiful ocean and mountain views. The yard is full of a variety of native / non native plants and birds. Come enjoy a quiet getaway with cool nights and a warm cozy fireplace. TA registration number TA-070-604-1856-01.

We are located at 3800 ft. Nights can get cool/cold, but the air is spectacular! The view from our location is stunning!

The cabin is on a shared 6 acre property. Guests can enjoy the privacy of the yard around them. Also feel free to walk along the cabin road and enjoy the flowers!
Other things to note
Please be aware that we are in the country and do not spray harsh chemicals so ants and occasional bugs are a possibility.

Leinaala Oceanfront #200 is a Large End Unit 1 bedroom, 1 bath unit on the second floor of an oceanfront complex, with a panoramic ocean view, fully-equipped kitchen, 1 flat-screen TVs, telephone, and free Wifi. There is a king bed and a walk-in shower (no tub). NEW Split system A/C throughout the condo, and fans throughout. For outdoor enjoyment, Leinaala Oceanfront #200 is supplied with beach chairs, beach towels, and a cooler. Coin-operated laundry room on-site. Sleeps 4.

Leinaala is a small 24 unit oceanfront property with panoramic views. Each unit faces the ocean. Leinaala has a relaxed and private atmosphere with a great feeling of the aloha spirit. Beachside tennis courts are available for use.
