This little cabin has a nice outlook, elevated over the Charles Darwin reserve and features direct access to the same named walk that goes down to the famous Wentworth Falls. It is an easy 10 minute walk to the village yet is really secluded overlooking an acre of grounds....It`s also a few minutes drive to all the best walks and places the Blue Mountains has to offer.
Recently renovated, it was originally the old boiler/laundry outbuilding of the Grosvenor estate, a landmark property in Wentworth Falls. It has been comprehensively updated, and is really well insulated and strengthened to cope with the winter winds and extremes of weather in the upper Blue Mountains.
It features a mezzanine sleeping area directly overlooking the view with pull down attic style steps to access. There is also a pullout double bed ( which is the sofa on ground level ) in case you can`t quite make it up there for the night.
It has a compact but fully equipped kitchen, proper bathroom with shower and toilet and a nice large private deck out the back with a generous seating area, as well as another protected seating area towards the front of the building.
Although it is small at 16 sq m inside ( incl the mezzanine ) plus 9 sq m deck, it is cute and charming and features many practical design details to make your stay comfortable.
Perfect for a couple who are into tiny houses or just want a cosy weekend away with a sense of adventure or also ideal for solo getaways be it for inspiration, reconnecting with nature or creative pursuits....or all of the above!
The Haiku Hut is a really nurturing getaway experience.
This cabin is located on the same property as the also listed "Origami Apartment" and the "Suenaga Suite" in case you are looking to sync up your stay with other couples, friends or family.
The property is fully self catering and self-check in with all bedding, linen and towels provided. The owners live on site in case any further assistance is required.
There are other basics provided as well: Teabags, instant coffee, salt, pepper, cooking oil, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner and body wash.
There is no washing machine but a laundry service can be provided if required at an additional charge.
IMPORTANT TO READ BEFORE BOOKING.....
Just a couple of things to consider and understand before booking this property:
It can get windy in the upper Blue Mountains. Although the cabin is extremely solid we can get pretty strong winds sometimes on winter days/nights and so you may need earplugs if you`re a light sleeper.
The FOLD DOWN ATTIC STAIRS to access the bed are high and steep so you will need to take care and practice caution when using them. They are also rated to a weight MAXIMUM of 150KG. If you exceed that weight you will need to sleep on the lower level and it also means just one person at a time accessing the stairs. Please note these stairs are not suitable for young children and we don’t accept bookings with young children between 6mths to 14yrs old.
Also, contrary to what the website might say ( at certain times depending on whatever booking platform software is being used ) there is actually no hot tub/outdoor spa. There is an old green bath you can see in the photos that fills with rainwater which you are more than welcome to use ....
(Please Note: there will be some building works happening in the adjacent property starting from September 2023 as a new dwelling gets constructed. These will take place Mon-Fri . So far guests have not been too affected by this, please check reviews, and most of the work has been completed already ) updated 27/3/25.
- "The cabin was lovely and perfectly located for day trips around the area. Loved the building and patio areas!" - "Was a lovely location with easy walking distance to local shops and cafes. Short drive to well known tourist destinations. Enjoyed our stay - many thanks :)" - "Really impressed with the stay, the whole place was very well thought out and had everything we could possibly need. Very tidy and organised also." - "This place is absolutely amazing! Quite, cozy and immaculate! Every little detail has been thought out and makes this place what it is! Highly recommend!"

While we’re always available to answer questions or provide guidance if you hit a rough patch, we have a local, experienced Airbnb manager who lives a few minutes away. Wentworth Falls is a lovely, charming village in the upper Blue Mountains, a short drive (less than 10 minutes) from Katoomba and Leura. It’s about 1.5 hours drive from Sydney and has access via train at the Wentworth Falls train station, which is a 15 minute walk to our house.
Wentworth Falls hosts several festivals throughout the year, a lake, golf course, tennis courts and many lovely hikes including the trail that takes you to the base of the Wentworth waterfalls.
Our house is on what is widely considered the nicest street in Wentworth Falls. We’re just across the street from the Wentworth Falls Lake and just down the road from the Wentworth Falls golf course. We’re about a 15-minute walk to the shops and cafes of Wentworth Falls where you can get coffee, lunch or dinner, groceries, a great soft pretzel or local crafts and wares.
We have friendly, respectful neighbours, and we expect our guests would be that way also. It’s dark on our street at night, so you will have a chance to go out near the lake and see the night sky.
Getting to the charming village of Wentworth Falls is easy, either via car or train. We have parking for two regular size cars on the property. There is also plenty of free additional on street parking.
While in Wentworth Falls, it is easy to get around by car, walking or biking. The lake is across the street from our house so if you’re keen, there’s no need to do anything but pull on your swimmers and pop across the street! The hikes on the south side of Wentworth Falls (near Conservation Hut) are best approached by bike or car, although many hikers walk from the train station, so it’s possible. The shops and cafes are about a 15-minute walk from the house and about a 2-minute drive. There is free parking at the shops which is almost always available, but this can fill up on busy days. Getting to neighbouring towns like Katoomba are a bit far to walk but easily available via car and bike.
Noise: please be respectful of neighbours, keeping noise down after 9pm
Smoking: please no smoking in the house
Please place rubbish in rubbish bins.
Please wash your dishes.
Please scrap the BBQ grill if you use it.
Please turn off all lights and heater/aircon before leaving.
Please lock all doors and return keys.
- "A very comfortable house, with good facilities, clean and comfortable linen, and a nice atmosphere as well as a very convenient location. Backdoor is a little frustrating in terms of gaining entrance, with the keypad quite temperamental! Kitchen was generally well resourced, with a good variety of pots and pans and plates. The offsite manager made sure that we had settled in okay and that we knew that he was available, without being intrusive. The neighbourhood was very quiet and lovely for walks, and close to the lake. Good shopping facilities in terms of food at Wentworth Falls. Certainly a very comfortable and satisfactory place to stay."

- "We were pleasantly surprised that this cottage was literally a 5 minute walk to Conservation Hut from where we’re able to explore Wentworth Falls and the Valley of Water within a day, including brunch at the Hut. The cottage was presented as advertised and given our short stay we didn’t make use of all it had to offer." - "Our stay in this charming cottage was nothing short of magical. Impeccably clean, thoughtfully decorated, and equipped with everything we needed for a perfect getaway. The host's attention to detail and warmth made us feel right at home. Can't wait to return for another unforgettable escape!" Thank you Paula"

Fantastic place to stay Amazingly well stocked kitchen

We had a really lovely stay over New Years at Stephens place. The indoor space was very clean and comfortable and not too far of a drive from the towns. Stephen was very responsive and easy to communicate with. Checking in was also very easy.

What a great house and Blue Mountain location. You get to experience the sights and sounds of Aussie bush wildlife just a few minutes from a good cappuccino in the village. Whoever designed the house employed lots of spectacular Australian hardwoods. Its everywhere. Beautiful. You rarely ever see it. Its even dent in the huge dining table and chairs kitchen counters and main bedroom dresser. I am an old school audiophile. If you too, Stephen’s stereo systems and record collection will be an unexpected treat. I cranked up Bowie, LED Zeppelin and Peter Gabriel. All sounded crazy good. You can also stream from your own iPhone or Android library through Bluetooth. Forgot to mention the great gardens and wildlife. Wild birds everywhere. Thank you Stephen. I hope I get to stay here again. Thanks for helping me with the bag I left behind. Chris!

This was the perfect house for a weekend in the blue mountains. The gardens are very secluded and tranquil - I felt a long way from the busyness of the world. The house is cosy, comfy beds, lovely bath tub and fireplace. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could need and a good supply of basics (olive oil, salt, pepper etc). The large garden is fully fenced and dog friendly. Stephen was the perfect host.

A wonderful place for escaping from Sydney. Located in a quiet street but close to the town center. The house is spacious and clean. We enjoyed the fire place and vintage lights. Our fur baby also enjoyed this pet friendly place. The kitchen has everything and massive range of seasoning and spices. Stephen is quick in reply and good in communication. Highly recommend!

Stephens lodge is nothing short of beautiful. The attentive messages prior to our stay, the privacy during our stay & even the mood lighting for our arrival, everything was amazing. We were lucky enough to have a beautiful rainy day & to have the dogs sleeping in front of the fire place made it much more enjoyable.
** May 2020 – Christina **
It was a perfect mountain escape with our close friends and dog - Stephen was a fantastic host and the djs in our group were thoroughly impressed with his speakers and vinyl cleaning products - the yard is gorgeous and the fire kept us warm. Thank you!

Falls Lodge is really a gem of a place. The place is absolutely gorgeous (love the exposed wood design) with a fantastic kitchen to cook in, excellent heating, and a cracking fire place. The queen bed is very comfy, the bath is a delight and it the wrap around veranda was ideal for star gazing. Really have to compliment the sound system, wow. Stephen left really clear instructions on how to set it up and connect to Bluetooth and I have to say the sound quality was incredible. We had a great time drinking wine listening to some of our favourite albums. Location is great, check in and check out was a breeze and Stephen was really helpful with questions we had. Nothing but good things about this place, looking forward to coming back again sometime soon!
** July 2020 – The Schreuders **
My son summed it up best when we left “this was perfect and feels like home”. Stephen’s a great host, personable and responsive and has put lots of thought into the home, amenities and guidance. Lovely warm fireplaces, well stocked wood and kindling with heating throughout the house. The tasteful furnishings and bedding are comfortable and we enjoyed the books, board games and the Lake nearby (3km). The audio equipment is amazing and wish I was more knowledgeable to appreciate the craftsmanship. The town is beautiful and a short 2.5km drive away. Our dog (Cody) also enjoyed the garden and walks nearby. We’ll definitely be back.
** August 2020 – Victoria **
Stephen's place was everything you needed as a home away from home. We cooked quite a bit and everything you needed was available and well thought of. It was very cold the weekend we were up there but the two fireplaces were amazing. It kept us so warm and cosy! Central heating was there is you needed it, electric blankets and good heating in the bathrooms as well. We were a group of five and will definitely stay again!
