Catch 'n' Keep is nestled in a quiet cul de sac off a secondary road with only neighbors passing by, with shaded parking right next to the entrance. Three small markets nearby make relaxing easier , as do a choice of eateries for those who really want to 'wind down' Well-sited to catch the cooling Tradewinds, the cottage is fully screened and Hunter ceiling fans are more than sufficient. Six large double doors open onto two covered decks where you can grill out with a Weber gas grill and dine in the fresh air. Or lounge in the hammock or deck couchand enjoy the country view, tropical breezes, and beautiful sunrises and starry evening sky.

The full kitchen is charmingly decorated with folk art and hand-painted ceramics collected by the owner in her travels. The bathroom features native stonework in the shower and full amenities. A comfortable queen-size bed with four pillows and sun-dried cotton linens awaits you.

The cottage is thoughtfully appointed for your comfort, and includes guidebooks, WiFI,and and streaming, lots of vacation reading, and games. You will also find beach chairs, beach towels, and coolers for your beach days. A variety of restaurants, eclectic shopping, kayaking, hiking, and live music are conveniently nearby in the Coral Bay area. - "This was our 6th visit to St. John. The cottage was just what we needed. This is the first time we stayed on a property where the owner was actually onsite. Judy was a wonderful host! We were so grateful to have her staying in her apartment below us for our visit. Our trip was unusual as my husband had an accident and needed medical care. Judy was a tremendous support and resource for us! She even offered to drive us into the clinic. The porch on the cottage was a lovely spot to relax. And we made good use of it as my husband needed a day or two at homebase because of his injuries. Fergus, her little dog was so sweet! He would come up quietly when we would get back from the beach, greeting us, and welcoming us “home.” Once we said hello he toddled off. He’d just come up to say hello! Judy was there when we needed her but mostly busy with what she had going on, so it wasn’t intrusive at all having her below us. Despite my husband’s accident, we were able to relax and enjoy the rest of our stay. We loved that the home was self sufficient with energy and true to the concept of ecotourism, but still had the modern necessities. We cook in every night and we had everything we needed. I know that the constant fresh air that came through the cottage with those wonderful tropical breezes helped my husbands skin wounds to heal so much faster than if we had come back stateside right after his accident. Palm Cottage is built along the face of a gentle knoll overlooking Coral Harbor, Hurricane Hole and the East End of St. John. The Cottage receives constant trade winds, open to beautiful views and are surrounded by mature native and planted vegetation providing surprising privacy in a small community. The cottage has a ground level entrance. privacy was a design priority. Palm Cottage can be rented as a one bedroom sleeping 2-3 . Our gated driveway is paved and safe, but requires a small 4WD or AWD vehicle.
Palm Cottage has been providing lodging since 2007 and accommodates 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 small children. It has a one bedroom queen, with one bath and full kitchen, living area, deck, porch and outdoor garden shower. The living area has a high quality futon that can accommodate 1 adult or 2 younger children.
Enjoy views of Coral Bay from rooms, or deck looking out over the boats at anchor, the lush green of Fortsberg. The gentle breezes carry you into a Caribbean state of mind. Palm Cottage is located in Estate Carolina on the south side of King Hill Road. It has a large deck that fronts the ocean view and on the rear a smaller shade deck on the west side provides the perfect morning or afternoon getaway with a view of the valley.
Palm Cottage is a 'Green Villa'', built to local 'green' standards' to have a low impact on the fragile island environment. Site planning, drainage, building structure, water management, energy conservation and landscaping have been given serious consideration in limiting the impacts of this cottage on the surrounding environment. We are constantly trying to improve and lessen our footprint. If you care about comfort and limiting your environmental 'footprint', staying in Palm Cottage is right for you. Modest, affordable, conservation oriented but a spectacular experience. This rural area of Coral Bay, nestled 200 feet above the harbor has a 180 degree view of Coral Bay, Norman Island, Hurricane Hole and the Carolina Valley. Watch the sun and moon rise above the bay. The sleepy town lies spread below you, rural sounds filling the air. Constant breezes let you drink in the beauty of Fortsberg and the East End. Many world class beaches, fine restaurants, local craft shopping, are all nearby.
There is an easy walk to Restaurants, Shopping, Boating in Coral Bay. There are several nearby trail heads that allow hiking access from Palm Cottage. We can provide great recommendations.

- "Very close to a store, restaurants (though you'd want a 4wd vehicle, these two are walkable if you can deal with some steep hills), and a short drive to Salt Pond/East End/North Shore road entrance. The view is lovely - the "*" caveat is that down the hill (as with many spots on post-hurricane St. John) there is a car graveyard. We kept our eyes up and enjoyed many a sunrise and moonrise, and cocktails and meals on the spacious deck. Ken and Sandy were quite helpful and responsive to our questions. They are incredibly welcoming, have a great selection of books on St. John, and the kitchen and bath were very well-equipped. The outdoor shower is the best!! Suffice to say, St. John is still recovering from the hurricane, and the economy will be hit hard by lack of travel/covid-19...but it's still as beautiful as the people are amazing. We cannot wait to return and look forward to staying with Sandy and Ken again. "

Welcome to the Verde Cottage - your peaceful island getaway on Bordeaux Mountain!

The 2BR/1BA Cottage is a 20 minutes drive from Cruz Bay, located high atop Bordeaux Mountain. The Cottage is accessed by a long flight of stairs (67 steps in total) which is your gateway to peace and privacy.

The Verde (‘Green’) Cottage is surrounded by lush tropical greenery, enveloping you in the sights & sounds of nature. There is a beautiful water view peeking through the valley as you look East toward the rising sun.

Upon entry to the Cottage you will find a simple but efficient kitchen on your left and the main living area with a small seating area and 40” Samsung Smart TV on your right. The bathroom with a washer/dryer is straight ahead.

Up a set of stairs is a cozy loft bedroom fully enclosed by railings with a private dressing area. The queen bed looks out on a bonus water view above the treetops of the valley. Note: This bedroom is not suitable/ideal for young children because of the steep and narrow loft stairs.

The loft area, living room, kitchen and bathroom are in the main part of the home and are cooled by an air-conditioning unit located in the loft.

Back downstairs, stepping out through French doors onto the screen porch you will have your choice of comfy lounge areas - both swinging and seating options! There is a lovely dining table with seating for 4 placed on the corner of the screen porch.

The private Master bedroom is separately accessed from the screen porch. It is small but comfortable with a queen bed, dresser, comfortable mattress and soft linens. There are blackout shades and in-room air conditioning so you can sleep soundly for your next day of hiking, beaching and island adventures!

The Verde Cottage is ideal for active travelers looking to escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy the simplicity of a cozy Cottage nestled in nature with all of the modern comforts.

You will have full access to the Verde Cottage and private parking area during your stay.

Situated high atop Bordeaux Mountain at 1100 feet elevation the Verde Cottage offers lush mountain views and a water view of the East End of St. John and the British Virgin Islands.

The home is located in a very quiet residential area, on a safe and peaceful road with no pass-through traffic. You won't hear the sounds of roosters calling, trucks rumbling, or the bustle of town - just the peace and tranquility of your lush natural surroundings!

Bordeaux Mountain is slightly cooler than the rest of the island (you may want a long-sleeved option for the evenings) and the home faces east to make the most of the tropical tradewinds.

The Verde Cottage is located in close proximity to several V.I. National Park trailheads:
Bordeaux Mountain Trail (3/4 mile away)
Reef Bay Trail (1.5 mile)
L'Esperance Trail (3 miles)

The island is 70% protected by National Park and you will drive through a large section of it on your way to the home.

10-20-minute drive to the North Shore beaches (Maho Bay is 12 minutes away)

A rental car is absolutely necessary to access the house, but 4WD is not essential (unless you want to explore the further reaches of St. John!).

There is a large private parking area with space for 2 vehicles.

It's hard to find a quieter, more relaxing accommodation on St. John. Surrounded by jungle without a neighbor or road in sight, the Verde Cottage offers peace and tranquility.

The home is located 20 minutes from Cruz Bay, 12 min to Coral Bay and 10 min to the beautiful North Shore beaches.

As previously mentioned, there is a long (long!) flight of stairs to access the Cottage, please be aware there are 67 steps! This is only a property suitable for fit / active travelers.

Our cottage is nearly off-grid, featuring solar and Tesla Powerwalls for uninterrupted power (we ARE grid tied for those shady days). You will also enjoy fast and reliable internet as well.

The Verde Cottage is the place to fully unwind and recharge in a natural setting. You’ll enjoy soaking in the sounds of the peeping coqui (tree frogs) by night and be soothed by the tropical Caribbean breezes by day. We look forward to welcoming you!

Periwinkle Cottage of Coral Bay is a perfect rendition of a traditional West Indian cottage with modern amenities such as WiFi, ceiling fans, and window screens. Located at the end of a private road, Periwinkle has a million dollar view of Coral Bay, historic Fortsberg, and Norman Island in the BVI. Periwinkle is close to the village of Coral Bay with its variety of restaurants, shops, and grocery stores. The location is ideal for exploring St John's best beaches on the North Shore, the South Shore, and the East End.

You enter Periwinkle through a vine-covered fence into a private brick courtyard. The upper level living area is bright, open and airy with white vaulted ceilings. The living room has large white rattan chairs, a daybed , and several tables and reading lamps. All furniture is upholstered with cotton/linen slipcovers, cushions, and pillows. The stunning water view, the quartz counters, the gas stove, and a full array pots, pans, and kitchen utensils make cooking a pleasure. Most of my furniture is from Serena & Lily

Beyond the living area is the upper gallery. The gallery dining table set seats 6 guests. Two places to lounge on the gallery include a large outdoor sofa and two lounge chairs.

A wide covered staircase to the lower level leads to a gated 10' by 20' pool and deck area. The tiled pool deck is furnished with chaise lounges and tables. Near the pool deck a covered deck leads to 2 private bedrooms, each with its own tiled bathroom. Double screened doors, shuttered screened windows, ceiling fans, AC and the trade winds keep both bedrooms airy and breezy.

3rd Bedroom is main level and the 3rd bathroom is near it. Shower for this bathroom is outdoors.

- "Periwinkle was a very lovely cottage. Had all the necessary amenities and a few more. We had a very relaxing week. Enjoyed spending our time in Coral Bay." - "This house was wonderful!! From day one at check in the property manager was in touch with us and always made herself available with any questions we had. We had no issues during our stay but if we had I’m sure she would have been there to help assist us. The house is gorgeous! Looks just like the pictures. The living area is upstairs and the bedrooms are connected with an outside hallway downstairs. I didn’t realize this until arriving at the property but we made it work with our young family (kids 9, 6, & 3). We felt safe the whole time which was a big concern we had going into the trip for the first time with our kids. The neighbors are very friendly and kind too! We liked the location in Coral Bay, away from the busyness of Cruz Bay and a great jumping off spot to see the whole island! I will say that the area where you get on the ‘main road’ isn’t ideal with the trash drop off spot and the questionable activity happening across from the convenience store but the house is far enough away up the dirt road that we still felt completely safe the whole time. There is a portable AC machine in one bedroom but nothing in the other two sleeping areas (master bedroom and pull out sofa in living room), but it was definitely cool enough to sleep with the windows/doors open. There were lots of nature sounds but that is going to happen anywhere on the island so bring a sound machine or earplugs (which the house did provide disposable earplugs in the bathroom). The house had beach chairs, noodles (great for snorkeling at the beach), blow up rafts for the pool, coolers, a few snorkels (but we rented our own), and a few games, cards & books. There is one TV in the master bedroom and the Wifi worked great for us! The towels are amazing!!! We are investing in better bath and beach towels after experiencing the Serena and Lilly ones that the house had to use, ha! The beds are all really comfortable too with nice sheets. The view is amazing and we loved coming back to the pool after a long day at the beach. I would definitely recommend staying at this house while in St. John!"

At Calabash Cottages, we specialize in private getaways for two guests. Lily Cottage is a cheerful and welcoming cottage with a gorgeous view of Coral Bay Harbor. There are wonderful breezes throughout the cottage and from the covered porch. There is a private hot tub overlooking the Caribbean Sea. For those who are familiar with Calabash Cottages, Lily Cottage is not in the same Calabash Boom location. This cottage is located just on the outskirts of Coral Bay. Although private, it is not as remote and secluded as Sago and Windwardside cottages. On the other hand, for out guests that have bemoaned the bumpy road, Tortuga could be your choice! This road is entirely paved. With fabulous views from the living room, bedroom and porch Lily cottage is a great honeymoon choice.

IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT RATES AND POLICIES: Our rental week runs Sunday to Sunday. We have two rates: Low season from April 16 to December 14 and High season from December 15 to April 15 and those rates are as listed. The only additional charge is a 12.5% hotel tax. We do not collect a damage deposit. Our 25 year relationship with guests has taught us that this is not necessary. We treat our guests with respect and we have found that they return the favor. There are no extra costs for reservations, cleaning or service. If you encounter any additional charges when requesting a detailed quote, it would be from the advertising site where you found us. Calabash Cottages is an established company and information about our rentals is easily found.

Car rentals: Since the purchase of Homeaway and VRBO by Expedia we have seen an attachment at the bottom of our ads with them encouraging guests to book car rentals through their site. Because of our unique location we strongly advise against that. You DO need a 4 wheel drive vehicle. We have for over 20 years done business with a very reliable company, Courtesy Car Rental. We believe in them enough that we forgo the commission they would give us and apply it as a discount to your car rental. Please discuss car rentals with us before reserving. Little Spice is the perfect base camp for up to two active, adventurous adults interested in exploring the island. No kids, please. The space
This is a very small, but very cool private cottage in the hills above Coral Bay. Little Spice is equipped with solar panels and batteries so no worries about island power outages or noisy generators. We average over 90% energy independence!

The tiny cottage itself is one living space with a kitchenette (compact fridge, induction burner, toaster oven, micro, coffee), queen size bed and full bath. Think of it like a free-standing hotel room with a nice little outside space, a great valley view and a gas grill. Everyone is welcome at our place but, because of the size, it's probably best for 1-2 active people who are planning to explore the island during the day and really just need a handy island headquarters. We're a five minute drive (or less) to the shops and restaurants in Coral Bay BUT our road is only partially paved and pretty steep so you should FOR SURE ABSOLUTELY 100% rent a small 4WD jeep and just take it slow.
There's no TV, but we do have streamable WiFi as well as a small bluetooth speaker for you to use. You'll find also find yoga mats, beach chairs and a cooler provided for your use. You can read all about how great the snorkeling and the beaches and the hiking are in tons of different books and posts about St. John. It's all true! We'll be happy to share our favorites with you.

This very small 1 BR cottage lives BIG with a screened porch, SOLAR POWER, valley views, ac, dishwasher, outdoor fitness, and plunge pool. With a clean modern vibe, Sweet Spice is more laidback getaway than luxury villa. It’s an ideal HQ for 2 active STJ adventurers - but with a few extra amenities! Located off the beaten path on the quiet side of STJ, it feels secluded but is only a 5 minute drive to the shops of Coral Bay. Note: road is rough and requires a 4WD and there are LOTS of stairs.

The space
Sweet Spice is a very small, but very cool private cottage in the hills above Coral Bay. Please note: it is accessed by a long set of garden steps heading down from a driveway that is shared with another little cottage. The driveway is the only shared space.

The main floor consists of an open-plan kitchen and living area as well as a powder room and screened in porch (with a dining table and couch). The porch overlooks a plunge pool and patio. The main level has AC but the vaulted ceilings, many windows, two ceiling fans and tradewinds help keep it cool so we find we rarely need it.

The bedroom has AC as well as a queen bed and full bathroom. It’s located on the pool level below the main living area. In true Caribbean style the bedroom is accessed by an exterior stone staircase. This means you have to go outside to get to the bedroom. Not sure why this is a thing, but it is. Luckily the weather is pretty great!

The salt-system pool is almost hilariously small but it is FANTASTIC for lounging, floating and plunging. Laps…not so much.

Everyone is welcome at our place but there are a LOT of outdoor stairs to navigate so please be sure you’ll feel comfortable doing that! We’re a five minute drive (or less) to the shops and restaurants in Coral Bay BUT our road is only partially paved and pretty steep so you should FOR SURE ABSOLUTELY 100% rent a small 4WD jeep and just take it slow.

The space
Bright, cheery West Indian 'great room' with dining indoor or outdoors on roofed, shady deck. Cottage is on 1/2 acre lot, with native trees and plants, great distance views, and lots of nature & bird-watching - yet you are not far from things to do and see.

Guest access
The separate rental portion is all yours, no sharing needed. Owner on property but on lower level and opposite side entrance. Park near entrance - No hillside stairs to go up or down when unloading luggage, gear and groceries.

Other things to note
-A 12.5% Virgin Islands hotel tax is INCLUDED in your Airbnb rate . Calendar nightly price is my base rental price PLUS the additional 12.5% VI hotel tax collected and paid by Airbnb to the VI Gov't = final complete calendar total for your stay. Airbnb separates the tax out, pays the VI government, subtracts their booking fee, and then sends me the balance
- Catch n' Keep Cottage is a SOLAR home with a large TESLA storage battery, keeping lights on, water pumps working and constant 10Mbps internet connection for those planning to work from home. The space
Back-up Power: The island's power company has been struggling since the hurricanes, and there are frequent island-wide outages, sometimes for several hours a day (the longest outages can last 24 hours). So, we installed two Tesla Powerwall back-up batteries for our solar panels which means you will should not even notice when the power goes out on island. There will be no noisy generator to spoil your peace and quiet. And the best thing is that you will not have to run around in the dark looking for flashlights, or refrain from using the water for doing dishes and showering for typical outages of 2-4 hours in length. You should have enough power to use the lights, water, fans, refrigeration, stove and oven, but you will still need to conserve power by not using hair dryers, microwaves, AC, etc.

Stonegarden Cottage consists of upper and lower levels, and you can book the Whole House or just the Upper Level. We're no longer renting the Lower Level separately to ensure that you and your party will have maximum privacy, with only one family/party in the cottage at any given time. Christmas and New Year's Weeks: Whole House only, 7 night minimum stay required.

This beautiful St. John vacation rental offers a gorgeous island view and on-site nature trails, close proximity to pristine National Park Beaches and restaurants and shops of Coral Bay - the peaceful side of St. John. Enjoy the water and garden view from our NEWLY INSTALLED SPA! Simply warm up after a swim, or treat yourself to a relaxing and therapeutic soak in the spa's jets. The cottage was upgraded with all new windows & screens, bathrooms, flooring, decking, interior decor, and a new Lower Level bathroom & kitchenette! We have a new whole house UV filtration system to ensure that your water is sparkling clean and drinkable.

The cottage nestles within a shady, tropical forest, high up the steep slopes of St. John’s Bordeaux Mountain. At the foot of the mountain lies picturesque Coral Bay harbor; beyond unfolds a panorama of peninsulas, islands, beaches and glowing turquoise channels that run east as far as Virgin Gorda and the Anegada Passage. This is the view Islands Magazine chose as the top spot in the world to watch the sunrise of the new millennium.

Upper Level: The fully-equipped, eat-in kitchen opens out onto the deck where you will dine or just relax while gazing at one of the most beautiful views in all the Caribbean, with an ever-changing light show of turquoise water and sundrenched islands.

Walk out the kitchen onto a dining deck with a phenomenal view of the islands and harbor below, where you will want to spend every evening gazing up at the constellations or to watching the moonrise over the VI National Park and Coral Bay Harbor. There is a full-sized dining table and 6 chairs, a chaise lounge and 2 deck chairs on the deck for your use, as well as four yoga mats to spread out for your morning yoga routine.

A large living room space has a picture window looking out over the islands and harbor below, as well as a pass through to the kitchen with counter height stools. The cottage is decorated with beautiful Caribbean art and stained glass windows designed and built by the owner.

The master bedroom with queen-size, four-poster bed and private, fully tiled bath has an expansive island view through a picture window. The enclosed Caribbean garden shower blends traditional stonework with the tropical environment.

Off the living room, there is a 2nd bedroom (called the bunk room ) with twin sized bunk bed and ample closet space. It has its own tiled bathroom - the open shower ceiling lets in the Caribbean sun and balmy breezes.

Whole House Rates: The rate quote you receive from AirBNB is for 4 adults and 2 children under 18 only. The max number of guests in the Whole House is 6, with the exception of adding one child age 6 or under. When you add a third child, you will be charged an additional $50 per night. We can accommodate one small child age 6 or under on a kids-sized air mattress that can be placed in the master bedroom. Additionally, you may substitute up to two adults for two children, however you will be charged an additional $50 per night per adult by the owner. We can accommodate up to two adults on our queen sized sofa bed. For parties of 2 adults and 2 children under 18, you may want to consider booking our Upper Level (which excludes our lower level apartment). Rates vary according to the season and can be changed without notice.

The Upper Level is not air conditioned, simply because there is so much breeze at 500 ft above sea level, and with the house facing due east to catch the trade winds all year round, there is no need for energy consuming AC. The cottage has ceiling fans in every room to keep the air flowing, and create a comfortable environment.

Outside amenities: Walkways from the front door lead you to our NEW HOT TUB/SPA and TIKI BAR, a spa deck for lounging and the stone paths and trails of Guavaberry Woods, where you'll enjoy bananas and papayas, tropical flowers and native shade trees. There's also a tire swing for the kids and plenty of trails to explore. (See below for more descriptions).

Lower Level: Private and quiet, this charming apartment is air-conditioned, has tasteful decor, art by Caribbean artists, stained-glass windows and beautiful views to the British Virgins. Enjoy the comfortable amenities of a queen-size bed, private bath with shower, a fully equipped kitchenette, dining table and chairs, and comfortable reading chair and lamp. You'll especially enjoy the private dining deck with its bistro table and chairs, lovely harbor view, a private garden with a grill, and direct access to the trails of Guavaberry Woods. The Lower Level has its own separate entrance, driveway and parking space. It's also accessible from the Upper Level deck by a side staircase. The unit was built underneath the deck of the main house and with solid cypress ceiling panels to ensure you peace and quiet.

Onsite Nature Trails: The best of St. John’s natural beauty and astonishing biodiversity lies on-site at your doorstep. A trellised archway of hanging tropical flowers greets you as you enter and walk down a short stone stairway to the front door. The large (2/3 acre) hillside property is an ecological wonderland that invites wandering -- beautiful hand-crafted stone paths and gravel trails on several different levels lead you through the lush hardwood foliage of Guavaberry Woods, where picturesque and unique ponds, a meditation garden, bridge and benches, plus gardens of orchids, frangipani, hibiscus, bougainvillea, citrus and tropical fruit trees delight the eye.

Cool Retreat: Steady trade-winds, an easterly view and the lush surrounding forest make Stonegarden Cottage a comfortable tropical getaway year-round -- cool, quiet and peaceful. After a day on blazing white sand beaches or out on the glittering sea, it is delightful to return up the mountain to your forest retreat, savor a frozen drink while enjoying the view or gaze into a lily pond while hearing the breeze rustle the treetops.
