The name Fifty Steps Cottage tells you the number of steps (give or take a few, depending on your height & the length of your stride) that you'll take in your under two minute walk to the nearby beach access. This is the closest Oceanwoods rental to the beach, ideal if you want to run back for lunch, for something you've forgotten, have a small child who needs a nap, or need to "use the facilities". This high-end, updated 1,280 square foot Oceanwoods cottage is on a quiet cul-de-sac directly across the street from a beach boardwalk (Boardwalk #15). Boardwalk 15 ends in a ramp to the beach--perfect for easy bike and stroller access.

West Beach is the section of Kiawah that's closest to the Security Gate. West Beach is also closer to the Freshfields shopping center and into Charleston than any other location on Kiawah. We're very close to the Sanctuary Hotel, making our cottage a convenient, ideal lodging for guests of weddings or other events held at that luxurious venue.

While at Kiawah, you'll be able to enjoy every imaginable outdoor activity. The island has 19 miles of leisure trails for walking, running or biking, and a spectacular 10 mile long beach. You can simply relax on the beach or on the screened porch, or indulge in more active endeavors--beach walks, beachcombing, building sand castles, burying your kids in the sand, swimming, boogie boarding, kayaking, sailing, fishing, biking, playing tennis or golf, bird watching, dolphin watching, spectacular sunset & moonrise views. We've vacationed on Kiawah for many years, and understand that a well-furnished, comfortably appointed place is what makes a carefree and memorable vacation. We've designed and completely furnished Fifty Steps Cottage so you can make the most of your beach getaway. This is a family-owned, newly renovated cottage, and we want you to relax, have fun and feel at home when you're here.

Step into the front door to find a 1,280 square foot indoors space, with hardwood floors and an open floor plan. You'll be greeted by a sparkling, newly-renovated kitchen with white quartz countertops, high end appliances, a gas range (rare at the beach) and a 4 seat breakfast bar. From the kitchen you'll move on to the dining area and then to the comfortable living room, which features a flat screen TV & DVD player.

You'll find a high speed internet connection and great cell phone reception.

KITCHEN: High end GE Profile appliances, Dacor 5 burner gas range (unusual to find a gas cooktop at the beach), white quartz countertops, drip coffee maker (filters provided), Breville toaster oven, loads of dishes and glassware, pots and pans, baking pans, utensils for dining, cooking & serving. Breakfast bar seats 4.

DINING AREA: Seats 6 at the round table. Access the screened porch through the dining room's sliding glass doors.

LIVING ROOM: The spacious living room features a flat screen TV, WiFi, Cable, DVD player, high capacity ceiling fan, skylights, a pair of the most comfortable reclining leather theater seats with cup holders, plus additional seating, a few books & DVD's, playing cards.

Additionally, we provide a hideaway folding bed to help out if you have two children who don't like to sleep in the same bed. Sheets for the hideaway bed aren't provided; we recommend that you bring your own set of twin sheets.

BEDROOMS: All bedrooms feature fluffy duvets or comforters & pillows. Bed linens are provided. To facilitate maximum relaxation, each bedroom is equipped with a white noise maker.

LAUNDRY: Nearly new, full-feature LG front-loading washer and dryer provided.

SCREENED PORCH: 128 square feet of breezy comfort with high capacity fan and skylight, the place to enjoy your morning coffee, meals around the table or cocktails.

OUTDOORS:
264 square foot deck with 2 lounge chairs and an outdoor gas grill (you'll find grill tools in a kitchen drawer). In the outdoor closet, find beach chairs, a small cooler for drinks, and toys for your use.
We grow some herbs in a pot on the deck, and invite our guests to clip the leaves for use in food & beverages.

Best of all, there's a private outdoor hot-and-cold enclosed shower, so you can comfortably (and privately) wash off after the beach.
Trash & recycling bins provided outdoors to the right of the deck stairs. No need to wheel the bins to the street--the collectors come right up to the storage area to empty them

Departure cleaning service is added to rental rates for each stay. Before leaving, please place your garbage and recycling in outdoor receptacles.

The showers were amazing; great water pressure and plenty of hot water. The baby had nightly baths in the tub in 1 bathroom. The queen adult bed was comfortable but the king bed had the body imprints of age. Many conveniences of home were furnished. The appliances were quiet and efficient, especially the clothes washer-dryer&dishwasher. We loved using the gas stove and were pleasantly surprised to have a garbage disposal. The dining table was nice for family meals. The dishes and kitchen supplies were abundant and served us well as we are an eat-in family. We used the nice grill, outdoor shower, deck and screened porch and were pleased! There was an unlocked storage door on the deck and we were surprised at at the beach supplies within. If we had known, we could’ve packed less! The AC worked well, although a bit loud in one room, we were thankful as the first days of our stay were extremely hot. We enjoyed other things like activities like sitting in the loveseat recliner under the skylights reading or watching baseball, football, and movies on the large TV."

Our cottage is located a few houses down from Eugenia that is beach front and has two easy boardwalk paths leading to the amazing 10 mile stretch of Kiawah beach. Our home features hardwood floors, granite counters, stainless steel appliances and recently remodeled bathrooms. Internet ready T.V.'s in living room and in all bedrooms. Samsung Plus and TV enabled channels available without streaming. We have a deck and grill out the back door and two garden benches out in front so you can enjoy the sounds of the ocean right from the house.
Sea Rocket Court is on non thru street making it a great location for families who want to be close to the beach and Island activities, but still have some quiet privacy. Bike rentals are easy with delivery and pick up, the island also offers kayaking, crabbing, fishing, chartered boats, kids camp, teen activities, a nature center, world class golf, and tennis in addition to 30 miles of paved paths and a 10 mile stretch of private beach that is also great for bikes, walking or a game of bocci. Sand dollars are more easily found on the beach than starfish, and are always a fun surprise to find one, a perfect sand dollar or starfish in the soft sand. Hiking trails and docks are found throughout the well managed wooded areas of the island. The Kiawah Conservatory also looks after the wildlife, host education sessions at the Night Heron Nature Center. Freshfields village is located just outside the Kiawah gate with a grocery, restaurants, shopping and summer activities on the green. Night Heron Park will have activities most nights of the week during the summer for families and late night teen events like glow paint ball. Charleston's is a 40-minute drive from Kiawah Island. It's hard to leave Kiawah but the trip to historic Charleston is worth it.

Our family uses our cottage and for that reason we continue to update and improve each year replacing or remodeling. Our kitchen was remodeled with granite counters, new cabinets and stainless steel appliances. The hardwood floors throughout the house were completed that same year. The bathrooms were updated with a glass shower, new tub, tile and sink fixtures. We added flat screen TV's in all the bedrooms with a 50 inch tv in the family room adding a oversize sectional sofa, and chair. The Master Bedroom has a king size bed, a 40 inch smart TV, ceiling fan, walk in closet and wooded views. The second bedroom has a queen bed, flat screen TV, and ceiling fan. The third bedroom has two twin beds, flat screen TV and ceiling fan.. The shared bathroom between was updated with new tile, tub, shower and vanity. We stock our kitchen with all that is needed to prepare and serve meals. The grill is propane and we do ask guests to use tin foil on the rack. We have a full size washer and dryer in the home for guest use. An enclosed sun room adds additional sq.ft. to the interior of the home. The back door leads to the deck that is shaded by large oak tree. We keep teak chairs and table out for guests year round. We love the island and our home, and are glad to share it with our guests.

Do not worry about bringing anything but your clothes and food. We provide beach towels and beach chairs too! Bike rentals are available at discounted rates and can be waiting for you as your arrive and picked up after you depart to cruise the beach or the 30+ miles of biking trails around the island. - "This villa was easily accessible to the beach by walking or by car. The neighborhood was very quiet. We ate all meals in-house, and we found the kitchen stocked with the perfect array of pots, pans and utensils. The view of the golf course was beautiful, although we received a little jolt when a stray golf ball hit the side of the house (no broken windows, thank goodness). That must have been one heck of a slice! We greatly appreciate that it was pet friendly. We would definitely book again!"

This intimate, comfortable cottage is pristine and crisp and begs for you to relax. It is a second home - all you need to pack are your personal items.It has a beautiful lagoon and sunset view from the screened porch and deck. The deck has been expanded to provide room to enjoy the long lagoon view. There is a table suitable for dining on the screened in porch. The deck with the lagoon view was enlarged in Jan, 2014, The cottage was modified when it was built to offer an extra wall of windows which brings the lovely tropical setting even closer to our guest. There is patio furniture and a gas grill which are great for chilling out after a day on the beach. The lagoon attracts some interesting birds and wildlife - a haven for admiring nature. The beach is about a 7 minute walk from the cottage. On route to the beach is a pool which guests of the Greenslake Cottages have access to with no charge. This upscale cottage was completely remodeled in 2006- hardwood floors, granite counters,etc. The open den and dining room combination provide a panoramic view of the lagoon through the sliding glass doors and windows. Equipped with wifi , color hi def TV's with DVR, DVD, and stereo/CD in the den. The well equipped kitchen has been enlarged with a dine on bar and has ample space for a gourmet chef to do their magic.
Ceiling fans are in the den, and each bedroom to provide added cooling along with the central HVAC after a day on the beach. Solar tubes bring extra light into the baths and kitchen area.

The master bedroom has a comfortable king size bed with a shutter head board . The mattress just begs you to sleep late. There is an en suite bath with large tiled walk in shower off of the master. On a built in armoire sits a 32" TV in the master bedroom. A sliding door offers light and a lagoon view.

The cottage is in the West Beach area at the end of a cul de sac, which provides privacy and access to twenty miles of bike paths with one leading to Freshfields Village for shopping and ( ice cream ). It has a canopy of a beautiful live oak tree that frames the cottage entrance. The Cougar Point Golf Course is just a few minutes walk as is the lovely 10 mile hard packed sand beach.

- "The Greenslake Cottage was a fabulous place for a Kiawah Island getaway for our family of four! Wonderful, peaceful location on the island, with a lagoon in the backyard filled with wildlife. The rockers on the back porch quickly became my favorite spot to have a cup of coffee in the morning. The cottage has lots of space for my husband and I, plus our adult children, to spread out. The kitchen was clean, very functional, and well-stocked with any kitchen amenities you can think of. We ended up cooking together instead of going out most of the nights because it was so much fun! The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms were very clean. We loved the washer-dryer which was handy to wash our beach sandy clothing before our flight home. Short walk to the ocean beach or community pool. Overall, we loved our time at the cottage and hope to be back soon!"

- "We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful, well appointed villa. It felt just like home away from home! We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Kiawah." - "This is a lovely property for two couples or a family of four. It sits on the first hole of Cougar with a view of golfers & the gorgeous clubhouse. It is within walking distance to both beach & pool & around the corner from bike path access. This price point with pool access & pet friendly is difficult to find anywhere on Kiawah. The property is comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need. The AC works great. The reclining sofa is comfortable. The beds were fine...a little of the firm side but were fine for our week's stay. We sleep on clouds at home so just an adjustment. We spent most evenings grilling out & playing games in the 4 season room. Our furbaby was comfortable & enjoyed watching the golfers from the living room. My only suggestion is perhaps the addition of another chair in the LR as there is only seating for 3 people currently unless you bring a bar stool over. That wasn't a big deal to us bc we were rarely all in the LR at the same time. We are more active bike riding golfers & swimmers who old school boardgame in the evenings however a TV relaxing fam may need another seat. We enjoyed our stay, love Kiawah, & will return again next year."

A great Oceanwoods cottage! What makes the cottage so special, in addition to its nicely furnished interior and quiet, tropical backdrop, is the absolutely perfect location! Nestled just between East Beach and West Beach, the cottage is in super close proximity to the beach, bike paths, Night Heron Park, and most other favorite island activities. You'll never want to stay anywhere else!

Features a fully appointed kitchen and nice dining area with a large dining area with seating for 6, and a cozy living room with a beautifully-finished cathedral ceiling and comfortable seating. Natural light and lightly hued walls, along with white kitchen countertops and cabinetry give it a true cottage feel.

Primary bedroom features a king bed, plenty of closet space and ensuite bathroom with nicely tiled walk-in shower.

This bright and beachy 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom Sparrow Pond Cottage accommodates up to 7 guests in comfort and style. A true home away from home, this Kiawah Island cottage boasts an enclosed porch, a furnished, wraparound deck with charcoal BBQ grill, a community pool and quaint, owner-inspired interiors.

This one-of-a-kind Kiawah Island rental is decorated by the owners, a bestselling author and his wife, who is a beloved children's book reviewer. You'll feel as if you were transported back to 1950s when you walk into this cozy beach cottage and nestle into its comfy overstuffed chairs surrounded by bookshelves filled with beach reads. But cozy does not mean old fashioned. You'll find plenty of USB ports, two wireless chargers for those of us who forget our own and 1 gig wireless broadband throughout.

The kitchen has been updated and has everything you need plus there is an enclosed Florida room with a large Smart TV. There is new paint, new carpeting, new rugs, new reupholstering, new bathroom fixtures and mirrors, new kitchen pots and pans, new art, and carefully curated books.

The primary bedroom offers a new king bed, en-suite bath, and flat panel television. Bedroom 2 is furnished with a queen bed and Bedroom 3 includes a bunk bed with a twin bed up top and full on the bottom to create a flexible sleeping space for either 2 or 3. These bedrooms share a full bathroom.

The front porch offers a pair of new Maine rockers to enjoy and there’s plenty of room to barbecue on the back deck. During months where there is a potential for inclement weather, such as hurricane season, we strongly suggest travelers obtain insurance.

No Smoking Allowed. Violators will be fined a minimum of $250 for in-room smoke damages. Smoking is ONLY permitted outside of the property, but please try to keep at least 10 feet from the doors to keep smoke from trailing inside.

Firearms are not allowed in any of our private residences. Any firearms left behind at a property will be turned over to local police without notice to guest.

The Town of Kiawah Island welcomes you to our beautiful community and invite you to take advantage of all our island has to offer. There is one thing you can do which will help make your visit more enjoyable and prevent you and your family from possibility being ticketed by Code Enforcement or Beach Patrol. Read the following rules and regulations as they are strictly enforced.

General
Gas and electric grills are only permitted on decks of single-family homes. Do not use grills on decks or balconies of condos or villas.
No open fires or fireworks are allowed at any time except those permitted by the Town.

Beach
Strong rip currents are common. Swim with caution. Charleston County Parks and Recreation provides lifeguards at Beachwalker County Park.
No wading/swimming in Captain Sam’s Inlet. (western end of the island)
No glass, metal shovels, plastic carryout bags, plastic straws, Styrofoam, or balloons are allowed.
Stay off the dunes and use public walkovers.
No overnight storage of beach equipment (tents, chairs, toys, etc.).
No open fires or fireworks are allowed at any time except ones permitted by the Town. Fireworks are subject to confiscation.
No littering. Use waste receptacles at beach accesses.
No vehicles allowed on the beach except emergency and authorized vehicles.
Public nudity is prohibited.
No sleeping on beaches after dark is prohibited
No launching, retrieving, and beaching of motorized vessels including jet skis are prohibited except for authorized vessels.
Bikes are allowed on the beach but must be walked across boardwalks. Bikes must be stored overnight in an appropriate storage location where the bikes cannot be visible from the street or adjoining property.
Commercial business is prohibited on the beach except under license from the Town.
Fishing – A saltwater fishing license is required for all recreational fishing. Licenses can be obtained at Seacoast Sports and Outfitters (Freshfields Village), Bohicket Marina , or online at the Department of Natural Resources website
Never approach sea turtles, hatchlings, or their nests. Sea turtles are an endangered species. Do not interfere with them in any way.
May through October – all outdoor lighting visible from the beachfront should be turned off from 9 p.m. to dawn to protect nesting sea turtles. Hatchling turtles are disorientated by artificial light. Fill holes dug in the sand before you leave the beach. If you see any adult sea turtles or hatchings report your sighting.

Critical Habitat Area: Dogs are prohibited in the designated critical habitat areas.
Seasonal Dog Leash Area: From the Critical Habitat Area west of Beachwalker County Park to the eastern boundary of the Beach Club.
March 16 – October 31 – Dogs must be leashed at all times.
November 1 – March 15 – Dogs are allowed to be off-leash.
Dog Use Area: Dogs are allowed off-leash year-round in the designated “dog use area” located between the eastern boundary of the Beach Club and the Ocean Course pedestrian access provided they are under voice command.
Off-Leash Stipulations: The owner must remain with their pet under control and have in their possession a leash. Pets must be leashed if requested by another beachgoer or by Beach Patrol.
Clean up after your pets. There are dog bag receptacles at most of the boardwalks.

Transportation:
Private motorcycles, mopeds, Segways, motorized scooters, motorized bicycles, and similar motorized vehicles are prohibited.
Use the bike paths for biking, jogging or skating. Biking and jogging on roadways is prohibited when there is a designated bike path present.
Bicycles, skates, and skateboards are not permitted on the roads or golf cart paths but may be used on bike paths and trails.
Obey speed limits. Watch out for pedestrians, bikers, golfers, skaters, and wildlife, and deer.
Golf carts are prohibited on Kiawah roads or leisure trails.
Overnight parking must be off-street.

Parking
Vehicles must be parked in a garage or driveway with a 25-foot clearance to the residence.
Parking on the grass or landscaped areas is prohibited.
Overnight parking must be off-street.

Wildlife
Never approach, feed or taunt alligators. It’s the law and strictly enforced. Kiawah Island is home to a very healthy population of American alligators that can be seen in almost all of the 183 brackish and freshwater ponds interspersed throughout the island. For that reason, never swim or allow pets to swim in any of the island ponds and stay away from pond edges. Alligators may be present.
Kiawah Island serves as a vital nesting beach for loggerhead turtles. Do not approach or disturb nesting turtles and abstain from shining lights at them. Loggerheads are listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act and are protected by federal and state laws. May thru October – all outdoor lighting visible from the beachfront should be turned off from 9 p.m. to dawn to protect nesting sea turtles.

Storage
No clothing or towels are permitted to be draped over deck railings.
Bicycles and beach gear must be stored in a garage or enclosure.

Noise
Noise ordinance in effect from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. daily.

Occupancy
The maximum occupancy for rental properties is two occupants per bedroom. Two additional occupants are allowed per dwelling unit.

Lighting
Outdoor lighting for all other dwellings shall be turned off from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily.
