The name Fifty Steps Cottage tells you the number of steps (give or take a few, depending on your height & the length of your stride) that you'll take in your under two minute walk to the nearby beach access. This is the closest Oceanwoods rental to the beach, ideal if you want to run back for lunch, for something you've forgotten, have a small child who needs a nap, or need to "use the facilities". This high-end, updated 1,280 square foot Oceanwoods cottage is on a quiet cul-de-sac directly across the street from a beach boardwalk (Boardwalk #15). Boardwalk 15 ends in a ramp to the beach--perfect for easy bike and stroller access.

Located in the desirable Oceanwoods sub-division in the convenient West Beach area of Kiawah, you're just steps away from the beach, bike & fitness paths and the children's playground at Night Heron Park. West Beach is the section of Kiawah that's closest to the Security Gate. West Beach is also closer to the Freshfields shopping center and into Charleston than any other location on Kiawah. We're very close to the Sanctuary Hotel, making our cottage a convenient, ideal lodging for guests of weddings or other events held at that luxurious venue.

While at Kiawah, you'll be able to enjoy every imaginable outdoor activity. The island has 19 miles of leisure trails for walking, running or biking, and a spectacular 10 mile long beach. You can simply relax on the beach or on the screened porch, or indulge in more active endeavors--beach walks, beachcombing, building sand castles, burying your kids in the sand, swimming, boogie boarding, kayaking, sailing, fishing, biking, playing tennis or golf, bird watching, dolphin watching, spectacular sunset & moonrise views. Or relax indoors reading a book, playing cards, watching TV, or cooking in our fully-stocked gourmet kitchen.

We've vacationed on Kiawah for many years, and understand that a well-furnished, comfortably appointed place is what makes a carefree and memorable vacation. We've designed and completely furnished Fifty Steps Cottage so you can make the most of your beach getaway. This is a family-owned, newly renovated cottage, and we want you to relax, have fun and feel at home when you're here.

Step into the front door to find a 1,280 square foot indoors space, with hardwood floors and an open floor plan. You'll be greeted by a sparkling, newly-renovated kitchen with white quartz countertops, high end appliances, a gas range (rare at the beach) and a 4 seat breakfast bar. From the kitchen you'll move on to the dining area and then to the comfortable living room, which features a flat screen TV & DVD player.

You'll find a high speed internet connection and great cell phone reception.

KITCHEN: High end GE Profile appliances, Dacor 5 burner gas range (unusual to find a gas cooktop at the beach), white quartz countertops, drip coffee maker (filters provided), Breville toaster oven, loads of dishes and glassware, pots and pans, baking pans, utensils for dining, cooking & serving. Breakfast bar seats 4.

DINING AREA: Seats 6 at the round table. Access the screened porch through the dining room's sliding glass doors.

LIVING ROOM: The spacious living room features a flat screen TV, WiFi, Cable, DVD player, high capacity ceiling fan, skylights, a pair of the most comfortable reclining leather theater seats with cup holders, plus additional seating, a few books & DVD's, playing cards.

Additionally, we provide a hideaway folding bed to help out if you have two children who don't like to sleep in the same bed. Sheets for the hideaway bed aren't provided; we recommend that you bring your own set of twin sheets.

BEDROOMS: All bedrooms feature fluffy duvets or comforters & pillows. Bed linens are provided. To facilitate maximum relaxation, each bedroom is equipped with a white noise maker.

LAUNDRY: Nearly new, full-feature LG front-loading washer and dryer provided.

SCREENED PORCH: 128 square feet of breezy comfort with high capacity fan and skylight, the place to enjoy your morning coffee, meals around the table or cocktails.

OUTDOORS:
264 square foot deck with 2 lounge chairs and an outdoor gas grill (you'll find grill tools in a kitchen drawer). In the outdoor closet, find beach chairs, a small cooler for drinks, and toys for your use.
We grow some herbs in a pot on the deck, and invite our guests to clip the leaves for use in food & beverages.

Best of all, there's a private outdoor hot-and-cold enclosed shower, so you can comfortably (and privately) wash off after the beach.
Trash & recycling bins provided outdoors to the right of the deck stairs. No need to wheel the bins to the street--the collectors come right up to the storage area to empty them

Fifty Steps Cottage has its own driveway for outdoor parking for up to 4 cars. All cars must be parked in the driveway--no on-street parking.

Departure cleaning service is added to rental rates for each stay. Before leaving, please place your garbage and recycling in outdoor receptacles.

The showers were amazing; great water pressure and plenty of hot water. The baby had nightly baths in the tub in 1 bathroom. The queen adult bed was comfortable but the king bed had the body imprints of age. Many conveniences of home were furnished. The appliances were quiet and efficient, especially the clothes washer-dryer&dishwasher. We loved using the gas stove and were pleasantly surprised to have a garbage disposal. The dining table was nice for family meals. The dishes and kitchen supplies were abundant and served us well as we are an eat-in family. We used the nice grill, outdoor shower, deck and screened porch and were pleased! There was an unlocked storage door on the deck and we were surprised at at the beach supplies within. If we had known, we could’ve packed less! The AC worked well, although a bit loud in one room, we were thankful as the first days of our stay were extremely hot. We enjoyed other things like activities like sitting in the loveseat recliner under the skylights reading or watching baseball, football, and movies on the large TV."

Our cottage is located a few houses down from Eugenia that is beach front and has two easy boardwalk paths leading to the amazing 10 mile stretch of Kiawah beach. Our home features hardwood floors, granite counters, stainless steel appliances and recently remodeled bathrooms. Internet ready T.V.'s in living room and in all bedrooms. Samsung Plus and TV enabled channels available without streaming. We have a deck and grill out the back door and two garden benches out in front so you can enjoy the sounds of the ocean right from the house.
Sea Rocket Court is on non thru street making it a great location for families who want to be close to the beach and Island activities, but still have some quiet privacy. Bike rentals are easy with delivery and pick up, the island also offers kayaking, crabbing, fishing, chartered boats, kids camp, teen activities, a nature center, world class golf, and tennis in addition to 30 miles of paved paths and a 10 mile stretch of private beach that is also great for bikes, walking or a game of bocci. Sand dollars are more easily found on the beach than starfish, and are always a fun surprise to find one, a perfect sand dollar or starfish in the soft sand. Hiking trails and docks are found throughout the well managed wooded areas of the island. The Kiawah Conservatory also looks after the wildlife, host education sessions at the Night Heron Nature Center. Freshfields village is located just outside the Kiawah gate with a grocery, restaurants, shopping and summer activities on the green. Night Heron Park will have activities most nights of the week during the summer for families and late night teen events like glow paint ball. Charleston's is a 40-minute drive from Kiawah Island. It's hard to leave Kiawah but the trip to historic Charleston is worth it.

Our family uses our cottage and for that reason we continue to update and improve each year replacing or remodeling. Our kitchen was remodeled with granite counters, new cabinets and stainless steel appliances. The hardwood floors throughout the house were completed that same year. The bathrooms were updated with a glass shower, new tub, tile and sink fixtures. We added flat screen TV's in all the bedrooms with a 50 inch tv in the family room adding a oversize sectional sofa, and chair. The Master Bedroom has a king size bed, a 40 inch smart TV, ceiling fan, walk in closet and wooded views. The second bedroom has a queen bed, flat screen TV, and ceiling fan. The third bedroom has two twin beds, flat screen TV and ceiling fan.. The shared bathroom between was updated with new tile, tub, shower and vanity. We stock our kitchen with all that is needed to prepare and serve meals. The grill is propane and we do ask guests to use tin foil on the rack. We have a full size washer and dryer in the home for guest use. An enclosed sun room adds additional sq.ft. to the interior of the home. The back door leads to the deck that is shaded by large oak tree. We keep teak chairs and table out for guests year round. We love the island and our home, and are glad to share it with our guests.

Enjoy a leisurely three mile bike ride to Freshfields marketplace past the beautiful marsh where you will can stroll the many shops and restaurants and enjoy the outdoor movie nights. Our renters often comment that we have the BEST LOCATION on the island!

Do not worry about bringing anything but your clothes and food. We provide beach towels and beach chairs too! Bike rentals are available at discounted rates and can be waiting for you as your arrive and picked up after you depart to cruise the beach or the 30+ miles of biking trails around the island. This cottage is located a mere steps from the boardwalk to the beach. The property is completely renovated and features a gourmet kitchen - Sub Zero Refrigerator, Wolf Range, Uline Undercounter ice maker, GE Monogram wine cooler, custom cabinets, and granite countertops. The kitchen is fully equipped and ready to enjoy. The adjacent dining table seats 6 comfortably.

The master bedroom features a king bed with a private entrance to the screened porch. The first guest room is equipped with a queen bed and the second guest room features two twin beds. All bedrooms are equipped with flat screen televisions and DirectTV access. The bathrooms feature walk in showers with rain shower heads, glass enclosures and granite countertops.
