There are two ground floor double bedrooms (one with an en-suite shower room, a double bedroom (only accessed from one side), a twin bedroom, a ground floor bathroom, a shower room, a kitchen with dining area and French doors to a sitting room with open fire (seats 5) and there is also a utility room. Outside there is off road parking for three cars and a patio to the rear. Lovers’ Lodge is a wonderful base for your well-deserved Irish break. Please note: This property cannot accept bookings checking in and out on the same day (unless it is Saturday). Self Catering This 300 yr old Thatched Cottage has been restored and has some of the original features like the original fire place , original floors and old style furniture, we tried to maintain as much of an authentic old time atmosphere as possible whilst also providing for comfort and pleasure. Some of the rooms are small . The road outside the cottage can be busy at times you will need to take care going out of the driveway the traffic mirror will help you out .

The cottage has a cosy living room and dining area , a fully equipped kitchenette, 1 downstairs double room, 2 small bathrooms 1 with a standard shower, 1 with bath . Upstairs The converted loft area has 1 small single Childrens room at one end and 1 small double room at the other end , closed off by curtains as it would have been back then, outside the cottage is a wild flower garden with garden furniture, and parking area with gate.

Other things to note
The cottage is 4km from the city center , ( 5 min Drive. ) all shops ,pubs, restaurants are in the City center , it is not safe to walk on the road into the city center from the cottage , if you do not want to drive into the city center there are taxis available. The road outside the cottage can be busy at peak times ,especially morning times, (The cottage is 300 yrs old so some of the rooms are small) no smoking or Vaping in or around the cottage thanks for your support .

Very light and airy accommodation. Renovated inside the old stables attached to Eirke House a former glebe/rectory Georgian period home. Recently refurbished and ready to rent. Property is double glazed throughout and fully insulated. Ample parking close to Johnstown and 35 minutes from the medieval city of Kilkenny. Easy access to the M7/8 motorways. Commanding position and wonderful views. Downstairs is an open plan design incorporating the living & dining area, kitchen & bathroom.

The space
Eirke House built in 1794 has a long history. The Georgian property as been refurbished to a very high standard after being purchased derelict in 2005. It is situated in a prominent position just west of Johnstown village. The accommodation is nicely situated with easy access to Kilkenny & Cork/Limerick/Dublin via M7/8 motorways and has great views of The Slieve Bloom & Slivenamon mountains. Quite and peaceful location for a relaxing stay.

Guest access
Guests have access to all gardens around the main house. The accommodation has its own garden access with patio and BBQ area. Guests are invited to wander around the gardens.

Other things to note
The stairs in the property while steep are within legal limits & the bathroom is situated on the ground floor. Please consider this if you plan to travel with elderly guests.

We are now connected to NBI on the fibre network. The cottage has high speed unlimited internet. The sun room can be turned into an office to provide a lovely working from home environment during your stay. Just let us know before you arrive.

For 2024 season we have fitted a new kitchen and installed a new central heating system.

We do not support the charging of EV vehicles from our own power supply. Customers must seek alternative solutions. Thanks
