The master bedroom and ensuite is particularly lovely." - "We had a warm welcome by Ann on arrival. There was a lovely apple pie and groceries provided . Excellent location for visiting County Clare. A beautiful home overlooking Doolin and the Aran Islands with Doonagore Castle close by, welcomes you to the “Wild Atlantic Way”
Located in a cul-de-sac of five houses, traffic is at a minimum and the only sounds being heard are the soft mooing of cows in the adjoining fields and the breaking of Atlantic waves on the shore below.
The views from the house are spectacular, sea and sky, with amazing sunsets over the Aran Islands and Galway Bay.
The house is a stylish cottage conversion designed by the owner, a well- known interior designer, whose family have long established roots in Co.Clare.
The theme of the interior is in keeping with the landscape, reflecting the colours from the rural setting outside. Soft off white walls with oak floors throughout the house creates an atmosphere of relaxed contemporary living.
Over 2800 square feet in size, on three quarters of an acre of manicured gardens, the house amply caters for seven people, both in space and luxury.
It comprises of four large double bedrooms, two of which are on the ground floor with views to the sea. Both have ensuite bathrooms, beautifully appointed with stone tiling and mirrored walls to reflect light. One of the ensuites is a "wet room" suitable for the elderly or those with limited mobility.
The main bathroom, also located on the ground floor, is equipped with bath and shower, and is finished to the highest standard.
As with all bathrooms it has underfloor heating.
Kitchen, dining and seating area join seamlessly together to form a central space and are beautifully appointed with large comfortable sofas, soft lighting, rugs and paintings. A wood burning fire in the main living area acts as a focal point and adds to the sense of warmth and cosiness.
Large picturesque windows which line the rear of the house, brings light and sunshine into the open plan living area and reflect the beautiful views around.
Sea Mist has been featured in two prestigious interior design magazines, House Beautiful in May 2015 and Home Interiors and Living in October 2015
If you wish to experience Irish life at it’s best, Sea Mist is the ideal location.

Regards," - "My wife and I spent a week at Sea Mist cottage in Doolin. The house is very comfortable and the Doolin area is quite amazing in terms of restaurants, pubs and spectacular scenery. - "this location was right up the hill from McGanns pub and close to all this area has to offer. it was a functional place for three friends as we each had our own room. The description said there were 3 bathrooms but there were only 2 but that was the only disappointment. Overall really nice place !" - "We had a wonderful time in Doolin during our 4 days there. Having a cottage that is convenient to the sights was a big part of it. We were out all day, every day. Whenever we returned, we could relax and unwind. Kitchen was very well equipped with everything needed for cooking. Mr. Kerin himself stopped by to make sure we knew how things worked. His description of features in the house that were based on his own home in the area added a real charm. 2nd story might make it difficult for anyone with mobility issues, but the first floor bedroom would be convenient."

Summary:
The Blue Stonecutters cottage sits atop Doonagore in Doolin, a spectacular high point which has views to the Atlantic Ocean. The Cottage is on a quiet country road and is a traditional Irish cottage with many original features. Getting married? Ask us about our beautiful Cliffs of Moher Wedding venue.
The Space:
The cottage dates from just after the famine and was lovingly restored a few years ago. Staying here is like going back in time.
The renovation preserved as much of the original character of the cottage as we could and we have bought many period pieces to keep the cottage authentic.
The cottage has a double bedroom and bathroom. In the lounge there is a sofa. In the lounge there is a wood-burning range. The lounge leads into a pine countered kitchen.
Doonagore is quiet and rural, yet the buzz of the coastal villages of Doolin, Lahinch and Liscannor are only a few minutes away.
Every day you will discover something new in the ever changing colors and hues of this most spectacular part of the world. You will truly forget what you left behind.
Guest Access:
The cottage has off-road driveway parking and access to the a washer-dryer in the outside shed. There are picnic benches front and rear. The cottage has full central heating and a wood burning range in the lounge. Please note we do charge for electricity and oil at cost based on your usage.
The Neighborhood:
Sitting on a quiet country road in Doonagore with the buzz of Doolin, Lahinch, and Liscannor villages only minutes away, the cottages were built around 1850 for the stonecutters who lived in Doonagore during the days the stone quarry was working.
Getting married in Doolin? Ask us about our fabulous elopement wedding venue Tigh na Ghra.
Getting Around:
This is a great area for walking and bicycling. There is public transport from the villages; but most people find it easiest to hire a car to get around.
Other Things to Note:
To help make thing as smooth and easy as possible, here are a few “frequently asked questions” and answers. Of course, if there is something we haven’t covered please do get in touch.
How long should we spend at the Cottage to see the area?
The commonest feedback we receive from guests is that they wish they had stayed longer. We’d say three days is a good balance between the desire to see all of Ireland and the desire to see all that the area has to offer. Our minimum stay is two nights; of course you can stay longer (we have guests who have stated for a month and still felt they needed a bit longer to see everything!).
Can we get to the Cottage by public transport (or walking)?
You can… but it would be quite a challenge. The nearest bus stop is at the bottom of the hill and it is a fair walk to the Cottage. You’d then find it a bit tiresome (and tiring) trying to get around without a car.
Cycling is a good option. We have had guests who have stayed at the Cottage on their cycle tour around Ireland. There is a secure shed for bikes to be stored in overnight.
When do I get travel directions?
Around a week before your stay we will send you an email with all the details you need to know; directions, things to do and see etc. along with links to useful local information. If you need this earlier (maybe because you are on a grand tour) then please just let us know.
What are the arrangements for check-in?
We aim to meet all our guests when they arrive, so that we can show them around makes sure they understand how everything works and know about the local area and places to eat etc.
Because peoples travel plans can change, we ask you to give us an indication of your arrival time and then give us a phone call on the day when you are 30 mins away. We live around 10 minutes from the Cottage, so that allows us time to get ourselves organised to meet you.
If you are arriving really late then that’s fine too, we will leave the Cottage open for you and we will come by the next day to say “hello” and make sure you are settled.
There will be a small Welcome Pack waiting for you, with tea, coffee, cereal bars; enough to keep you going before you get to the shops.
What happens on our day of departure?
The night before you leave we ask you to let us know a convenient time for your check-out. That’s when we will come up to the Cottage, the say “goodbye” and check everything was ok.
After you leave we send all our guests a short survey questionnaire, to get their feedback and let us know what we could have done to make their stay even better. Of course, we also encourage you to use the review feature on your booking channel.
Interaction with Guests:
We live in the area and are on hand to help with check-in, orientation and to help with advice on what to do and where to go.
- "Great home base for exploring County Clare (Cliffs of Moher, Flaggy Shore, Doolin, Burren). Very nice interior with large kitchen and historic range for extra warmth" - "Our main house for our honeymoon was on the other side of the island, so we chose Doolin for a short trip and this house was perfect. It’s literally 5 minutes from Gus O’Connors pub (amazing food and live Irish music nightly) in Doolin (our favorite city in Ireland), it’s also nestled on top of a hill and hidden, which suited us perfectly. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen well stocked and the communication with the hosts was wonderful! Highly recommended!"

Tigín, our charming farm cottage has been recently restored and offers comfort and tranquillity for one or two people. Doolin, with its bustling pubs and restaurants, seems far away but, you can walk there in just twenty minutes.
The cottage garden boasts a panoramic view of the sea, cliffs and islands. Listen to the waves crashing on the rocks below, the seagulls crying and the bleating of sheep. You are at the edge of Europe, looking west. Iceland is the next landfall.
Inside the cottage, tradition and modernity combine. Fast broadband, smart TV and the latest kitchen appliances provide modern comforts, entertainment and the ability to keep in touch. It is cosy. And there is more than a hint of the two hundred years of history that this building has to offer.

Summary:
The Stonecutters Cottages sit atop Doonagore, a spectacular high point which has views to the Atlantic Ocean, the Aran Islands, the Burren and the music village of Doolin. It is situated on a quiet country road with nothing but gorse and fresh air.
In the lounge there is a wood-burning stove.
Getting married in Doolin? Ask us about our fabulous elopement wedding venue Tigh na Ghra.
Guest Access:
The cottage has off-road driveway parking and access to the a washer-dryer in the outside shed. There are picnic benches front and rear. The cottage has full central heating and a wood burning stove in the lounge.
The Neighborhood:
The cottage is in a small terrace of four. The cottages were built for the stonecutters who lived in Doonagore. They were built during the days that the stone quarry was working (around 1850) and Doonagore was a busy village. There is very little left of the quarry workings now and the area is mostly dedicated to arable farming (There is an excellent exhibition in the Rock Shop in Liscanor that shows the history of the Doonagore quarry).
Although the cottage now sleeps two originally it would have been for a family of six or more (often including livestock).
Doonagore is on a height above the village of Doolin with roads that run to Lahinch and Liscannor.
There are fantastic views all around and great walking; all from the front door.
Around 3 weeks before your stay we will send you an email with all the details you need to know; directions, things to do and see etc. along with links to useful local information.
Of course, we also encourage you to use the review feature on Ayour booking channel.
Interaction with Guests:
We live in the area and are on hand to help with check-in, orientation and to help with advice on what to do and where to go.

Ours is not a grand modern hotel, but rather a cosy, quaint and traditional house where you will instantly feel at ease, and at home. Unique decorations and artwork grace the walls showing the history of Doolin as well as Séan's previous career as an antiques dealer.
The name Doll’s Cottage comes from the owner - Séan who’s mother was lovingly known as Doll. With her husband Gus they ran Gus O’ Connors pub (which is only a stones through away from Doll’s Cottage) for decades. She was famed for her hospitality and warmth, a tradition Séan is carrying on here.
Guest access
We offer free parking outside of our home for guests. O' Connor's Pub on Fisher St. as well as several craft shops are all within a very short walking distance from our front door. We are located in the heart of Doolin village and the oldest part. Doolin harbour is a 15 minute walk where you can catch a ferry to the Aran Islands or relax with a cruise under the Cliffs of Moher. There are public buses to Doolin but a car is absolutely recommended to get around.

Blue Sky Cottage is perched atop Doonagore, a short drive from Doolin village. From this high point, you'll enjoy views of the Atlantic Ocean, Aran Islands and uninterrupted blue sky. The cottage is a great base to enjoy music in the famous Doolin pubs, beach in Lahinch and the harbour village of Liscannor.
Our charming cottage dates back to a little after the famine and restored to keep the original character, complemented by carefully selected period pieces to maintain its authentic charm.
The space
The cottage dates from just after the famine and was lovingly restored a few years ago. Staying here is like going back in time.
The renovation preserved as much of the original character of the cottage as we could and we have bought many period pieces to keep the cottage authentic.
The cottage has a double bedroom and bathroom. In the lounge there is a sofa. In the lounge there is a wood-burning stove.
Guest access
The cottage has off-road driveway parking and access to the a washer-dryer in the outside shed. There are picnic benches front and rear. The cottage has full central heating and a wood burning range in the lounge.
Other things to note
Three days prior to arrival you will receive check-in details and one of our team will be in contact on the day of arrival also once the cottage is ready for check-in.
If you are arriving really late then that’s fine too, we will leave the Cottage open for you and we will come by the next day to say “hello” and make sure you are settled.
There will be a small Welcome Pack waiting for you, with tea, coffee, etc; enough to keep you going before you get to the shops.

The house:
Absolutely stunning 2 bed farmhouse cottage refurbished 20 years ago.
The Eastern part of the house has kept its original old feel with big stone walls. The bedroom at that end of the house has its own small en suite (including shower, toilet & sink). This bedroom has the best views of the sea and is the most peaceful place in the whole house. The sitting room is bright and airy with high ceiling a big south facing window and a small stove which is easy to light and adds coziness and warmth even in summer. The main living space is the kitchen / architect designed loft over the kitchen. It's particularly pleasant to cook in this warm atmosphere. It has a real farmhouse character with Liscannor stone floor and one wall with apparent stones (painted white for brightness and cleanliness). The sunroom is attached to the kitchen and provides a lot of heat and light during the day especially in the spring and summer months as the fan helps circulating the air into the kitchen. The other bedroom is sunk in the ground and below the loft. It is a very peaceful bedroom as well. The main bathroom is right beside it making it nearly an ensuite.
The hallway has liscannor stone floor as well. Perfect area as we come in from the outdoor to leave coats and boots or straight into the washing machine.
There are house plants in each rooms giving a real homely and alive atmoshpere.
There are 3 outhouses with local character. Possibilities to leave surfboards and to hang wetsuits or wet gears in one of the sheds.
10 min to Ennistymon where you can get everything: 2 big supermarkets ALDI and SuperValue, butchershops, cheeseshop, healthfood store, a variety of coffeeshops and small restaurants, thrift shop, music shop, doctor, pharmacy, galleries, take aways, etc.
If you enjoy cycling or walking/running there are a few loops you can do straight from the house or drive to the nearby Burren (20km from Fanore beach, 10km from Lisdonvarna, 30km from Ballyvaughan). We are on the Burrenway route and the Wild Atlantic way. The house is offset from the road making it very safe for children and pets and that small country road is very quiet with seldom any traffic.
There is a double bed in each bedroom and a single futon type bed on the loft, which can sleep one adult or two kids (it's very long) or two adults if they are comfortable "playing footsies", or one of the mattresses can be pulled out onto the wooden floor.
The neighborhood is sparsely populated. The nearest house is 200m up the road and you will most likely meet my nearest neighbor gentleman farmer, Michael. The people who live around the area are all very friendly. Among the farmers, there are a lot of surfers and artists. The area is very secure and private.
Dogs are welcome at a small extra cost €20.
Please contact me for more details.
The things people love about my home:
1. It's a traditional farmhouse cottage, big thick stone walls (stone non apparent except for one kitchen wall), Liscannor slabs floor which gives it a rustic and roughed look.
2. Big south facing windows with distant view of the sea. With binoculars, you can check the surf in Lahinch and …
3. The sunroom, which provides much heat with any little ray of sunshine. Lovely place to chill out when it's windy but bright.
4. Cozy loft upstairs. Best view of the sea in the house. Cushions, cuddly toys, possibility to plug in tablet or phone into the sound system to play music through the speakers.
5. The stoves for warmth and coziness.
6. The house is away from the road (the driveway is 100m long) and surrounded by a huge field which hosts a herd of connemara ponies or young bullocks in summer.
7. The location. Really close to Lahinch, Doolin and Liscannor busy seaside tourist towns, a stone throw from the buzz, and yet we can relish in the tranquility of the Irish countryside.
8. The lovely walks on small country lanes from the house. The Burrenway passes 300m away. There are a choice of various loop walks available. Walking up the road to the left, we get to a beautiful view over the Aran islands and gorgeous sunsets (sometimes, it does stop raining!). If we turn right at the gate, we're only 4.5km from the cliffs of Moher with stunning views on Liscannor bay on the way. … And we're just 20km from Fanore and the Caher valley at the heart of the Burren.
10. No TV.
11. Wifi.
Things I should mention that people might possibly not be so keen on:
1. Due to its old stone walls and high ceilings the house is difficult to heat. The electric heaters are set and on all year around. It is really important to open the sunroom and turn on the fan everyday to circulate the hot air into the living space.
2. The bedroom at the end of the house is the most peaceful bedroom of the house as its four walls are 3 foot wide stone walls but therefor has no wifi (although you will get it on your personal phone on 4G)
3. No TV.
Guest access
Guests have access to the whole house for themselves.
Please respect the privacy and refrain from routing into private files.
We do stay mostly across the yard in a small studio.
When we are here, our dogs, Tootie, a very gentle English setter type and Milo, a shiatsu/terrier cross hang around the property. They may bark at your car on arrival or when you leave but as soon as your car is off they stop and love receiving human attention and playing ball fetch.
Guests have 100% privacy in the living space of the house and the lawn at the front, on the south side with the view of the countryside and the Liscannor bay in the distance. We might only meet when you park your car.
Other things to note
No one who isn't part of the reservation is allowed on the property without advance notice or permission. This may include additional charges at the discretion of the host.
This is our home.
Please respect it as is. We're very happy to share it with visitors. Although we have it set up for guests, please always remember that the house is our precious and much loved home, and not a hotel!
We are musicians and into sport and health so plenty of books and literature on running, fitness and nutrition.
We have a very gentle and friendly English setter/sheep dog, Tootie who loves playing ball fetch and receiving human attention and a small shiatsu/terrier cross, Milo who’s equally friendly.
We welcome pets, dogs are most welcomed. However we request you apply the same rule as we do for our own for the sanity of the house and respect of future guests, that is dogs absolutely off couches and beds and kept from carpeted areas or bedrooms and bathrooms. Thank you

The course is conveniently located close to O'Connor's pub, where you can catch your breath after a game with some delicious pub grub, a creamy pint of Guinness and listen to some traditional Irish music.
You can take the ferry from Doolin Pier to the Aran Islands or take a cruise under the Cliffs of Moher. Boats generally run from Easter to October.

Welcome to the Cottage at Doonagore Castle. Nestled alongside one of Ireland’s most iconic landmarks, Doonagore Castle Cottage has been painstakingly renovated by the castle’s owners, merging authentic 300-year-old features with modern amenities, to offer guests a unique vacation experience. Doolin village, famous for its music and culinary delights, is a ten-minute walk away, the dramatic not-to-be-missed cliffs of Moher a short drive, and a spectacular 14th century castle right next door.
The space
Situated conveniently with easy access to all the drama, culture and beauty of Ireland’s storied West Coast, the cottage has been designed for both romantic get-a-aways and family vacations.
The spacious master bedroom (originally the cottage’s donkey shed) includes a Queen bed, generous wardrobe, desk (if work interrupts your vacation), seating for two for reading or relaxation, and an expansive, wall-to-wall panoramic picture window which perfectly frames the town of Doolin, the bay and the Aran Islands, spectacular sunsets, and the occasional inquisitive cow.
Features of the second bedroom (originally the cottage’s main bedroom) include: two single beds with brand new mattresses, a desk, chest of drawers and a chain on the wall where, back in the day, the farmer would secure his cow. The cow was not in the room to save it from wandering off in the night, it was there to warm the room with its body heat. In the recent renovation of the cottage, individual room electric heating was installed, so there is no longer a requirement for the presence of the cow.
Following a gut renovation, the new bathroom features an expansive, tiled walk-in shower with pressurized rain-head, radiant heated tile flooring, and heated towel rack. The designer vanity and sink are framed by an LED backed heated mirror (to prevent fogging). Adjacent to the bathroom is a closet containing a new combination washer / dryer.
The heart of the cottage is the open-plan main-room. You’ll enter the cottage here and immediately be struck by the drama created by the vaulted wooden ceiling. But the centerpiece of the room is the capacious original stone fireplace, now no longer required for cooking purposes following the introduction of up-to-the-minute appliances in the newly renovated kitchen. Housed within a cut-granite topped kitchen island, are a Bosch electric cook top and oven, brand new dishwasher, and single spout modern kitchen faucet and drop-in sink. The kitchen also boasts a family-sized refrigerator, toaster, microwave, coffee maker and kettle.
Under a picture window sits the dining table. Not huge but certainly large enough to accommodate 4 comfortably, this is where you’ll enjoy your morning coffee with the family as you plan the day’s adventures or enjoy a romantic dinner for two. Connect the Bose speaker to your personal device and choose your preferred musical accompaniment to the occasion.
Exit the cottage through the double-Dutch back door onto a private outdoor patio with reclining lounge chairs and side tables. This patio affords perfect and exclusive views of the picturesque castle on the hill above.
Everything about this cottage exudes charm, from the time etched stone floors to the hand-hewn wooden beams, to that striking original kitchen hearth. History and legend are ingrained within its elegant, white-washed walls.
Guest access
Guests have acess to the entire property, however entry to the castle is restricted. There is private parking for the cottage guests and the town with its many restaurants and pubs is a short walk down the hill.
Other things to note
Although the cottage is an authentic 300-year-old building with stone walls and floors, wooden ceilings and low doorways, it has been extensively renovated and modernized – without losing its original character and charm. Additions and updates include: electric power, WiFi, electric heating throughout, smoke and fire alarms etc.
Over the past 50 years the cottage has been used exclusively by the family who own Doonagore Castle when they were visiting Ireland from the USA but following the recent extensive renovation, it is now available to rent via AirBnB for all to enjoy the magic and wonder of Ireland’s magnificent west coast.
