Away from it all, yet within easy access / walking distance to the finest eating establishments. Superior shopping is available in Clifden, the capital of Connemara.
The cottage has interesting internal items & build details, ie, 3 ft thick walls vernacular 100 yrs old.

Knock Airport. Knock is approx 120 mins. drive to Cuach Cottage.
Interesting 'Cuach Cottage': Constructed from local stone using local skills and dry bedding technique. Some internal walls are 3 ft. wide whilst others are 2 ft.
It has a conventional pitched slated roof which is now highly insulated.
To the rear, their remains the shell of a stone constructed sheep's pen. Livestock would have been housed close to the dwelling back in the day.
Al Fresco Dining: To the rear of the cottage is an elevated 8 seater outdoor dining set. Set upon a traditional pebbled and fenced patio area. BBQ here on a summer's day and you are in heaven, beautiful fresh water river running alongside, 12 Ben Mountain range so close you feel you could touch them, natural lake land and Connemara terrain right in front of you. Your outstanding views are not obstructed !! To the front of the cottage we have located a 6 seater dining bench. This offers the visitor a choice of 2 outdoor dining locations. Best of both worlds, as the sun moves from East to West. Located in the garden and beside the fresh water river is a 3 seater hand made bench where one can while away some hours, reading, sketching or indeed just taking in the scenery.
Inside the traditional fireplace is 'inglenook' type, however, this has been converted to suit a wood burning stove. In days gone by all family meals were cooked over this hearth.
Local harvested turf was the common source of fuel . The fire would sit directly on the floor in traditional manner using all the skills necessary to maintain it, lighting 24 hours per day. Most homesteads had their own plot of bog land. Plots till exist to this day alongside.
We have installed a hand crafted entrance door, 1/2 by 1/2 last year made by a local craftsman, thanks Pat.
Interior fixtures, some from Count De Vesci's estate in Laois are present in 'Cuach Cottage'

We miss being there and hope to return in the future." - "What a beautiful cottage and an amazingly beautiful location! We were very comfortable there. - "I stayed for roughly 2 weeks at the cabin in July whilst working around Connemara, and it provided me the perfect place to have a nice quiet morning watching the horses and mountains in the distance, and then lovely cosy evenings watching the colours change in the fields and watching a movie. The sound of the rain (it is Connemara afteral) on the roof was especially relaxing. The cabin is I'd say brand new or near enough, it is warm, well decorated and extremely clean. The facilities provided were all brilliantly clean and of an extremely high standard. Great WiFi. A washing machine and detergent, oven, and all the pots and pans and cutlery you'd need to cook a decent meal. There was milk, fruit, bread, and bottled water waiting for me on my arrival as well. Along with salt & pepper and the essentials. Lisa and her husband were extremely welcoming and hospitable, going out of there way to answer questions I had, whilst also giving me space and privacy. Overall, it was the perfect place for me to stay, and, truth be told I was a little bit sad to leave!"

- "My family and I were immediately at home. The house was in pristine condition. The kitchen is well stocked with all the basics, plus nice-to-have items like an air fryer. My kids enjoyed the assortment of books and toys. The shower pressure was amazing. The location was fantastic. It's an easy walk into town, but just far enough that you feel removed. The only negative is that there is no clothes dryer in the house. Traveling with kids, we had to do several loads of laundry while at the house. Using the clothesline outside took a bit more planning and watching the weather than I'm used to. I would absolutely stay here again!"

- "A very comfortable place with all you need for your stay. Well located in the center of the town. Well communication with customer service" - "Fab apartment in a great location, right in the heart of Clifden. Spacious, spotless and comfortable. As a holiday let, it worked out very well for our family of four. Only thing to take into account is that the view out of all windows is onto other properties or concrete walls but the living area does get lovely light in. There isn’t any privacy in bedrooms as others could walk by close to the window, however, we only saw one or two people in our 3 night stay. It didn’t bother us because we were out all day and just pulled down bedroom blinds in evening. The location and comfort of the apartment more than make up for the lack of a nice view. There is access to a roof terrace if needed."

Truly a property to love staying in, a real home away from home. Our "Cuach Cottage" has achieved the highest accolades over the past 12 years with it consistently achieving 5 star ratings from past guests.
Again approved by Failte Ireland for 2024 / 2025. Failte Ireland being the governing Irish body.
Super host status achieved 2022 2024
Nothing is left to chance, therefore, the cottage is always in pristine condition when the visitor arrives.
Located on 4 acres, set out in paddocks, one can ramble the grounds , take in the truly amazing scenery, try a spot of fly fishing in our own river, fresh water trout and the odd salmon possible, sketch and paint your very own amazing landscapes with the 12 Pins literally dropping down in plain sight with their ever changing light conditions, ( Favourite spot of artist Paul Henry) or just simply relax and enjoy a glass of wine and a good book on our riverside rustic seating.
Chefing at Cuach Cottage. It's a doddle !!!!
Boasting one of the finest modern kitchens, one can spend hours producing that very special meal, sit down at our farmhouse kitchen table and whilst dining, and entertaining, take in the surrounding 180 degree view of the beautiful Connemara National Park and the Twelve Bens, which literally fall down towards our garden.
Internally, you are totally spoilt, hand crafted wooden window shutters & beds, finest Egyptian Cotton Linens, traditional timber flooring, 1/2 front entrance door, (no chicken though,) internal details that sets us apart from the competition !
You will definitely not be disappointed, so treat yourself and your family to a very special holiday at Cuach Cottage, ( Irish for Cuckoo,)
- "Perfect destination for a quiet retreat, which is exactly what we needed. All the little touches and thoughtful extras, make it hard to leave. Only suggestion would be shower setting was difficult and water pressure was low, but hey you are in the country and we totally embraced that. The Sheep and Goat were welcome neighbours. Will be back" - "Liam and Marian's cottage is just beautiful in a georgeous setting looking out on the 12 pins. It was always great to get back to the house after a day out hiking or touring around the area. The setting has a wonderful "remote" feel but it was quite easy to get into Clifden for dinner, just a few minutes away by car. Although we also cooked dinner in the cottage in a well equipped and easy to use kitchen. Beds were comfortable and it was completely quiet at night -- perfect!"
