Guest Reviews:

- "I was concerned as to why there were no reviews on this place yet, so just wanted to leave one for anyone else who's considering it. This cottage was spotless, with beautiful views. The beds were comfortable, shower had good pressure and hot water (we've stayed at some where that was not the case), host(ess) was so sweet and kind, check in was easy, check-out was easy, it has been updated, so all fresh and new. It was an all around wonderful place to stay. The only thing I'll mention which might be a problem for some, is that it's right by the road, but the road noise didn't bother me at all (and I'm a very light sleeper)."

Traditional Irish 3/4 Berth Cottage
Cottage
County Kilkenny, Kilkenny, Ireland

As Co. Kilkenny countryside locations go, this is a cracker – Farm Cottage Lets is part of a 19-acre working equine farm in a gorgeous location about five minutes’ drive from Piltown and 15 minutes from Carrick-on-Suir.

The views from here are quite fabulous, looking out over green farmland to the mountains beyond – a small taste of the scenery that awaits for those who fancy going out for a walk nearby. And you don’t have to go far at all to find somewhere to stroll – there’s woodland right next to the farm (particularly pretty in spring, when all the bluebells are in bloom) and the trailhead for the Mountain Grove Looped Walk is just over the road. As this site is pet-friendly, you’ll be able to take your dog out on your walk too.

Sitting outside to take in the scenery is a popular activity at this site, and you’ll be welcome to light up a barbecue for some alfresco cookery while you do so. Pick up supplies at the shops in Piltown or Carrick-on-Suir; both places have pubs for a post-shopping pint, and Carrick-on-Suir has a good collection of places to eat as well. For a taste of city life, Kilkenny and Waterford are both around half an hour’s drive away, with plenty to offer in terms of places to eat and things to see or do.

Exceptional room in old Irish house
Cottage
Munster

A double room situated with views of the Blackwater and Knockmealdown mountains with ensuite bathroom in a sensitively converted traditional Irish cottage. Private sitting room, garden, near michelan starred restaurant, The Cliff House, beaches...

The space
This really is a unique space. Irish cottages are renown for their character and quirky arrangement of rooms, where no two are alike. I fell in love with this style of house 20 years ago when my family moved here from England, but never expected to own one of my own! They are a throwback in time and these days are becoming rarer due to the costs of renovation, something I was ignorant of when first taking on such a project.

Guest access
We are happy to share our kitchen with you, where we cook on an aga. You may prefer to eat separately in which case there is a little room off the kitchen for breakfast. As a family we rarely use the sitting room, so this is yours for your stay.

Other things to note
Cork airport is a 45 minute drive from Ballycrompane.

Amenities:

Essentials • Hair dryer • Iron • Extra pillows and blankets • Hot water • Bed linens • Valley view • Mountain view • Hangers • Washer

Secluded riverside cottage sleeps 5
Cottage
Munster

Otter Cottage has a beguiling bird's eye view of the River Blackwater. Easily accessible, it is the perfect holiday location for a couple or larger group seeking peace and quiet in the Irish countryside. It sits on a riverside lane that sees almost no traffic. The salmon jump, and it's not unusual to see otters frolicking. The country walks include one of your own - a twenty-minute stroll around the property - with stunning views over the river and the castle and folly on the bank opposite.

The space
Spread over a comfortable two storeys, Otter Cottage is the perfect haven for your holiday adventures in Ireland’s sunny southeast. Three bedrooms sleep up to five, there is a bathroom with bath and shower, and a full kitchen with space for dining. A sunny conservatory offers a private space for rainy days or cooler evenings. A private garden provides access to the riverbank and plenty of space for picnicking.

The beautiful seaside village of Ardmore is 20 minutes’ drive away, as is the historic town of Lismore - with its magnificent castle, cathedral and heritage center. Youghal - again only 20 minutes by car - has one of the longest and most beautiful strands in Europe. Dungarvan, 25 minutes by car, is the starting point of the wonderful Waterford Greenway walking and cycling path.

Fabulous food is also within easy reach. To name just a few of the eateries, there’s The Tannery in Dungarvan, Cliff House Hotel with its Michelin-starred restaurant in Ardmore, and Richmond House in Cappoquin. All offer unique takes on Irish cuisine, but strive to source locally.

For those interested in hiking, the Blackwater Valley offers some of Ireland's most unspoilt walking terrain – from the seashore to the hills of the Knockmealdown and the Comeragh mountains. Or take on our own pilgrims’ path, St. Declan's Way - that links the ancient ecclesiastical centres of Cashel, Co. Tipperary with the Waterford coastal village of Ardmore. The path passes through our nearest village, Aglish, just 4 km. from The Riverbank.

Kayaks and canoes can be rented at Blackwater Kayaks in Villierstown (2km). There’s sailing in Dungarvan, and an adventure centre at Ardmore, within half-an -hour's drive. A little further away, at Tramore, there’s great surfing.
