Guest Reviews:

- "I had a nice stay at this property for a few days. It’s in a fantastic location, close to all the main pubs and popular walking spots. The property itself was great overall, comfortable and well-kept. The main downside was the parking situation. There is just one designated space, and during peak times, it could be tricky to park/manoeuvre, especially if you have a larger vehicle. The nearby public car park doesn’t allow overnight parking, which could be an inconvenience. There is a small garden area that backs onto the parking space. It’s fine for a dog, but not ideal if your pet needs a late-night bathroom break. Despite these minor issues, I had a great experience and would recommend it for a short stay."

Delightful family cottage with large garden, amazing sea views, in Solva village
Cottage
SOLVA, Pembrokeshire, Wales, United Kingdom

Whether you stride or stroll off to the headland, skip down the path to the harbour or simply enjoy the garden, you will find this charming cottage ideally situated with it's superb views of the sea and islands lying off the coast of Pembrokeshire's National Park, and very close to it's renowned Coastal Path. Tastefully furnished with antiques and colourful fabrics, it is well planned and offers everything for a relaxing trouble-free holiday. The south-facing patio is bathed in sunshine, a place to share your breakfast with the robin and black bird, where you may prefer to lunch under the parasol, and (if you are lucky) a candle lit dinner is often possible. The large, lawned garden is so enticing that some hardly venture further afield, however the coastal path is a minute away, as is the path down to the harbour with safe swimming, sand and rock- pools at low-tide and 'crabbing', sailing, fishing.....

The bustling village of lower Solva has lots to offer - restaurants, pubs, shops, galleries, supplies, Restaurants, Pubs and Fresh Crab: Five minutes walk away is the village store and off-licence (open everyday 8 till late) here you can buy most essentials, it also has a Post Office section (norm. opening hours). New automated fresh local milk distribution point. The farm shop Penpant is 1.5 km away for fresh fruit and veg.

St.Davids has a good supermarket (delicious fresh bread baked throughout the day) and a lovely delicatessence. The closest large town, Haverfordwest has umpteen supermarkets, some providing on-line order. There is a local catering service that will provide wonderful meals as and when you require them.

In the village, four local pubs all provide excellent food in addition to the three restaurants that cater for those 'special' evenings. DOWN ON THE QUAI there is a licenced tea-room for snacks and sandwiches and, if you are lucky, you might manage to persuade a fisherman to part with some of his catch.
Just up the road from the cottage you can buy superb DRESSED-CRAB and lobster... an absolute MUST before you leave.

Further afield: Apart from the beaches, boats and coastal activities there are so many wonderful things to do and places to visit that it is impossible to list them all, but there are pottery's to potter in, chocolate factories to...well,.....eat chocolate in!, farms where you can feed and touch the animals, light-houses you can climb up, life- boats to explore, sheltered gardens to discover,.....
go-karts to whizz around on, the coast to view from an aeroplane, take a flying lesson, enjoy a round of golf, or have a family day at the fantastic theme park...

A FREE TOURIST JOURNAL is readily available in all shops, petrol stations restaurants etc. and will provide ALL the information that you can possibly require to make the most of your stay. READ IT WHEN YOU FIRST ARRIVE !!!!
Our visitors book will also offer many suggestions and useful comments.

Guest Reviews:

- "No problems with the apartment but I was disappointed with the lounge. It's described as with a sea view but that's only when standing by a high velux window. There's no outlook when sitting. It's very dog friendly and has the benefit of a charming and helpful owner living next door. The distance into town is walkable but hilly. Solva itself is delightful and a good position for travel to other areas."

Guest Reviews:

- "Cottage was good, welcome pack very much appreciated. Location was excellent. Very disappointed with the state of the garden, we had been notified it was a 'little overgrown' due to sourcing a gardener. However we could not use any of the outside garden or the bench to sit out and enjoy a drink or a meal. For the price we paid we would have expected everything to be of the highest standards. "

Charming 18th-Century Cottage in Solva's Heart
Cottage
Solva, Pembrokeshrie, United Kingdom

Step into the soul of Solva at Bwthyn Strathmore, a one-of-a-kind 18th-century cottage lovingly restored by its owners, Andy, and his wife, Margaret—long-time locals with a deep connection to the village. Thoughtfully brought back to life with timeless charm, this humble retreat, managed by Salt & City Stays, blends heritage with comfort for two. Just steps from the harbour, coastal path, and local pubs, it’s a peaceful haven with a story in every stone—and private parking too.

Step into a living piece of Solva’s heritage, where traditional craftsmanship and thoughtful restoration bring soul and comfort in equal measure. Bwthyn Strathmore has been lovingly built using repurposed materials from local chapels, boats, and cottages—every timber and panel a tribute to the village's maritime and rural past.

The cosy double bedroom opens directly onto a sunny, sheltered patio—an ideal morning coffee spot or a quiet place to relax after a coastal hike. Just off the patio, a utility room with a freezer, washing machine, and dryer is perfect for wetsuits, muddy boots, or adventure gear, with a side street-access door that makes storing bikes or watersports kit a breeze.

Downstairs also features a bright, modern shower room and WC. Upstairs, you’ll find a modest but well-equipped kitchen and an inviting lounge area with a dining table, comfortable sofa, electric fire, books, and WiFi. It’s a space designed for slow mornings, quiet evenings, and everything in between. Traditional in style, beautifully maintained, and impossibly well located—this is Solva at its most authentic.

Guests have exclusive access to the entire cottage, including a private parking space. The property is easily accessible, situated in the heart of Solva's lower village.

Andy lives next door and is available throughout your stay. Throughout your booking, our small, dedicated team of four at Salt & City Stays will ensure all your needs are met up to the point of check-in. From answering enquiries to providing recommendations, we are here to assist. You may hear from any of us leading up to your stay.

Nestled in the heart of Lower Solva, Bwthyn Strathmore places you at the centre of one of Pembrokeshire’s most characterful coastal villages. Just steps from your door are four welcoming pubs, a local art gallery, independent shops, and a cosy café—all lining the same historic street as the cottage itself.

Wander 100 metres to reach the picturesque harbour and the renowned Pembrokeshire Coast Path—your gateway to windswept cliffs, hidden beaches, and breathtaking sea views.

Beyond Solva, the magic of the St David’s Peninsula unfolds. Just ten minutes away lies Britain’s smallest city, St Davids, home to its awe-inspiring cathedral and a creative, cultural scene that punches well above its size.
