- "Cosy comfortable cottage very rural. Best equipped place we've stayed in. Close to coast or good walking routes. If you're wanting lots of pubs restaurants on hand perhaps not the place to be that said everything was easily accessible. Only one very very small detail the bathroom is downstairs which is fine but if like myself you sometimes need to get out once or twice during the night not so good. On the whole full marks brilliant week."

- "The house is great, cosy, warm and well equipped. The garden is enclosed which means it’s safe for dogs. I couldn’t tell from the photos if it was fully enclosed - and it is. The hot tub is lovely and has a cover so the monsoon rain didn’t bother us and we could also see the stars when the rain did finally stop. The beds are extremely comfortable as are the sofas! The village is really lovely too. The village roasts its own coffee and the village shop doubles up as a little cafe - so you can sit out the back and your drinks in there. The river is lovely and we enjoyed walking along from the ‘top pub’ (which has a sign saying probation office on it ) along to the castle - which is worth a visit also. We didn’t try out the pubs - but they were both open - and we just loved our stay.. despite the rubbish pre-Easter weather. Thank you!!"

- "Although 12 of us stayed here, the property is so large and well thought out there was always space for everyone whether they wanted company or to be alone. All of us could sit around the table inside or either table outside. The swimming pool, hot tub and sauna with its own changing area and toilet and shower facilities felt like luxury and were a lot of fun. We also loved the games room and had fun with the jukebox. The outlook on the nature reserve and birds was relaxing."

It is conveniently located on the A487 just a short distance from Cardigan and the beach. Inside the traditional Welsh cottage there are 3 bedrooms, the beds are made up with freshly laundered hotel grade Egyptian cotton sheets and clean towels are provided. Downstairs benefits from the beautifully hand waxed original beams and the slate inglenook complete with the modern state of the art Scandinavian wood burner.
There is a brand new kitchen.
The space
Welcome to my beautiful holiday cottage which we have spent the last year renovating. It is located on the A487 which is the main road from Newcastle Emlyn to Cardigan just a short distance from Cardigan and the beach. It has the benefits of being close to the town but also backing onto open fields with the closest neighbours being one field away so you really feel free when you are in the lovely garden or outside in the covered seating area having lunch or relaxing with a glass of wine after a hard day at the beach or wandering in the nearby nature reserve.
The more recent extension at the rear has a brand new kitchen that can comfortably seat 6 at the solid oak table which can accommodate up to 10 with the extensions in place. There is a cavernous Bosch fridge freezer just waiting to be filled with fresh produce from the nearby farm shop and drinks and ice from the Cardigan Tesco less than 6 minutes away. Or if you don’t feel like cooking or making a barbecue the fantastic Crust and Tipi Pizza are even closer.
Upstairs is the spacious bathroom, with both shower and bath, with amazing views over the beautiful Welsh countryside - complete with sheep! (Usually - although they do have a mind of their own) I do hope that you love your stay as much as I love being there. We are constantly busy doing things to the house and garden so don’t be surprised if it’s even better than the photos when you arrive!
We provide a few basics - some tea and coffee to get you started and a basket of wood and some kindling and fire lighters for your first night or two - assuming it’s cold enough to light the wood burner or the up-cycled fire pit .Despite the rural location the cottage has superfast fibre broadband a cable direct to the smart To and a WIFI extender to cover the outside seating area. This was a serious consideration when buying as it’s pretty unusual anywhere outside the main towns in West Wales. There is comfortable parking for 3 cars.

Parking: There is ample space for three cars and with the right cars and parking skills you can fit but please do not damage the flowers on the flowerbed.
Heating and Hot Water:
The primary heating is oil fired, and we switch this off in the summer. The shower is electrically heated and combined with that and the dishwasher which has an eco mode, I do not switch on the heater, as to heat a whole tank full just in order to wash one’s hands a couple of times does not really demonstrate one’s commitment to the natural environment. If you should feel the need to switch on the hot water, please ensure this is done on a time limited basis.
Rubbish/Recycling:
There are no rubbish collections at the house so you must take all your rubbish with you when you leave, and either take it home or dispose of it at one of the recycling centres. In Ceredigion everyone is keen to protect the environment, and therefore recycling is the social expectation. There are four bins in the kitchen and I use either the green compost bin or a metal bowl for compost (vegetable waste/off cuts) which you can then put on top of the grass cuttings on the compost heap. Please do not put meat or bones on the compost heap as it attracts vermin. The four bins I use to separate the waste, so it is easier to dispose of. I generally take bottles/glass jars and cardboard/paper to Tesco or Quay Street Car Park when I go into Cardigan. Another bin I use for tins and hard plastic, and the last for general packaging waste. Please ensure that you use bin liners in the bins. If you take your recycling and rubbish to the tip, notices will guide you as to which skips take which items.

No 1 Church Row is around 200 + years old and is the end cottage in a row of 4. The cottages were probably built to service the little Welsh church; now a picturesque ruin to the front of Church Row.
Turn up an unmarked lane just before Llechryd stone bridge and pull up on your private driveway in front of No 1 Church Row.
The row of cottages have a gated path from the lane and No 1 & 2 another gated path from our drive.
No 1 Church Row has a ground and 1st floor; foot thick walls and (uncharacteristically for this part of the world) high, beamed ceilings.
The cottage has 2 bedrooms sleeping 4 people. For additional guests I can set up canvas camp beds in the sitting room and master bedroom. (£10 fee)
COTTAGE GARDEN - Enter through the fragrant cottage garden with BBQ / Fire pit; culinary herbs and 8 seater wicker sofas to recline upon. With its panoramic daytime views of Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire and evening bat visits this is the perfect place to eat, drink and be lazy. The garden has atmospheric lighting till midnight and if you want to stay to star gaze you”ll find blankets in the enamel tin the scullery.
FURRY FRIENDS - please note whilst the cottage garden is enclosed and fine for my 2 x Cockapoo’s it may not be suitable for larger; more athletic or pooches hell bent on escape!
Please also note - we have no dog flap.
I walk our dogs before bed and in the day leave the door to the garden open.
I’ll leave a dog blanket on the sofa and you”l find doggy water and food bowls in the enamel tin in scullery.
GROUND FLOOR

The cottage sits half way up a hill.
There are 3 steps on to the cottage path which leads through an enclosed front patio garden.
FURRY FRIENDS - No 1 Church Row cottage garden is enclosed on 3 sides with the 4th side being a high (3 - 5 foot) angled drop to the drive with some shrubs & barriers at the lower end.
Neither of my Cockapoos have ever tried to jump down to the drive (and thus to freedom) as it would be a very difficult manoeuvre.
And that’s despite one of my dogs having mountain goat style climbing capabilities and regularly pulling off Houdini-esque escapes!
However all dogs are different so please note that No 1 Church Row garden may not be suitable for larger; more athletic or extremely determined escape oriented hounds.
The sitting room; kitchen and bathroom are on the ground floor.
Bedrooms are on the 1st floor up one small flight of stairs with a small landing area and then another 3 steps to the landing with bedroom entrances.

No 1 Church Row has a joyful, relaxed and quintessentially Welsh vibe with lux trimmings & late Check Out as standard. Contemporary Welsh art works are hung throughout.
The cottage has been designed to celebrate its splendid rural location and historic character - with discrete 21st century conveniences such as thermostatic heating; dishwasher; 43’ flat screen tv; walk in showers and great WiFi.
Traditional Welsh wool textiles sit alongside contemporary Welsh artists works. Master craftsmen have created fittings from locally sourced slate and aged wood. Lime wash’s and folk art decorate the 30” inch stone walls. Plants and Vintage pieces are scattered throughout. The sensual bedrooms have deep, luxurious artisan headboards and Egyptian cotton sheets adorned with hand made cushions from traditional Welsh Tapestry Print.
The garden affords panoramic views of The Teifi; Ceredigion and beyond to Pembroke. Help yourself to organic Parsley; Thyme, Rosemary and Sage whilst listening to murmurings from the nearby Rookery. Stay late for the Bats and if you’re lucky you’ll also see Fox’s and meet the resident little, gold, snake like Slowworms.
At the end of the garden lays a picturesquely ruined church and deserted Cymraeg graveyard with crooked grave stones and a ‘Mr Titmus’ street lamp.
