Glynnedd is a beautifully presented and spacious dormer bungalow, with a high standard of comfort, set within the peaceful village of Bronant. You are assured of a warm Welsh welcome by the owners, or “Croeso Cynnes” as they say in Wales. The house is perfect for anyone needing a ground floor bedroom and bathroom, and an access ramp is also available in the property. Its enclosed garden has country views, including the stunning Cambrian Mountains, and is ideally situated to provide an excellent touring base from which to explore Cardigan Bay, the Heritage Coastline and the wonderful county of Ceredigon.
The rural surroundings of this holiday cottage really are an undiscovered gem. The sparsely populated county of Ceredigon offers roads that are untroubled by traffic, footpaths and bridleways that can often be explored without coming across another person. The terrain is excellent for cycling (on or off-road), motorbike and motor touring, walking, birdwatching, fishing and horse riding. If you like to explore the culture and history of the area, you can visit ancient churches, the ruined Cistercian Abbey of Strata Florida and Wales’ most remote chapel in the hills, Soar Y Mynydd. The Tregaron to Abergwesyn mountain road is well-worth driving as it offers wide open vistas of remote mountains and moorland. A world away from the bustling cities and hectic motorways, this is probably the greatest wilderness in southern Britain.
Just 6 miles away is the delightful town of Tregaron, steeped in history and famous for being a gathering place for the drovers who, before the advent of rail transport, herded large numbers of cattle, sheep and even geese, hundreds of miles to the markets of south east England. Today, the very small town still has a friendly atmosphere and boasts independent shops and an award-winning bar and restaurant. From here you can also visit the Cors Caron Nature Reserve, the largest raised bog in Britain with boardwalks winding through it.
Within half an hour’s drive you can visit the picturesque and colourful Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron, the seaside resort of Aberystwyth, with its long promenade and pier, the longest electric cliff railway in Britain, running since 1896, and the Rheidol steam railway. Visit Rhiannon’s Welsh Gold, Red Kite Centre, and the waterfalls at Devil’s Bridge. A 45 minute drive will bring you to New Quay, a quaint fishing town with lovely beaches and famous for its seafood restaurants and boat rides. Pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

You will get a ticket included in your welcome pack.. Why not experience something truly unique for a short break or a longer stay? Cliff Railway Apartment is located above the station and ticket office at the base of the longest funicular electric cliff railway in Britain, which has been transporting visitors to the summit since opening in 1896. Situated at the northern end of Aberystwyth promenade, the apartment boasts very comfortable accommodation with sea views from the kitchen and direct views over the railway from the bedrooms. Guests are offered free passes on the railway for the duration of their stay (please note there are reduced operating days and times from November to mid March).
The Aberystwyth Cliff Railway operated on a water balance system until electrification in 1921. Today the carriages are hauled to the summit at a stately four miles per hour, and travel majestically to the summit of Constitution Hill, rising dramatically from the sea, providing spectacular and uninterrupted views of the town, Cardigan Bay, and on a clear day, 26 mountain peaks spanning much of the length of Wales. Once at the summit visitors can experience the views afforded by the one of the world’s largest camera obscuras, which offers a bird’s eye view of 1000 square miles of land and seascape. There are also fascinating historical displays, a kids play area, a well-stocked gift shop, and a cafe selling delicious meals, homemade snacks and cakes. The café itself was used for filming during the popular TV detective series "Hinterland" as were many locations around Aberystwyth.
Just a short stroll from the apartment is the beach and promenade, lined with Victorian buildings and leading to the pier. There are plenty of opportunities for shopping and a wide choice of places to eat in this university town, as well as castle ruins, the harbour, the National Library of Wales with a visitor centre, and Aberystwyth Arts Centre, a bustling entertainment venue. The surrounding hills hold the visible remains of an iron age fort and also a monument to Wellington and, once climbed offer stunning views of Cardigan Bay. Also not to be missed is a trip on the lovely Vale of Rheidol steam train, departing from Aberystwyth and travelling through the stunning Welsh countryside to the beautiful Devil’s Bridge waterfalls.
Within very easy reach of Aberystwyth, there are golden sandy beaches, colourful seaside towns and villages, and places to explore such as the Ynyslas National Nature Reserve dominated by a sand dune landscape and home to an array of rare plants, wading birds and wildlife, including colourful orchids early in the summertime. With views inland and across the estuary to Aberdyfi, it is a great spot for walking or relaxing with boardwalks and trails through the dunes. Bwlch Nant-yr-Arian Forest Centre is a large woodland site with a host of activities including walks, cycle trails and red kite feeding with a shop and information centre. The peaceful wooded and landscaped Hafod Estate in the Ystwyth Valley has a variety of waymarked walks.

- "Lovely owners very quiet and peaceful" - "Stunning in every way. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo" - "I managed to book as a special treat for our wedding anniversary, due to someone cancelling, when we arrived we were greeted by Simone the owner, a very nice and honest lady, she gave us a verbal tour of the area and introduced us to her pet sheep -( Larry and Mo ) and her 3 old English Sheep dogs, social distancing was observed On entering the property we were delighted to see there were all that we needed and more, we only needed to bring food and clothes , everything else was supplied, right down to the shower gel. Now the walk down to Aberystwyth... the best way we found was walking down the lane and catching the funicular railway back up and walking round the fields, the walk back up the lane is not a fun walk 掠 ( we tried it once )... but it will cost u £4.50 single each person... the best £9 spent . The views from the cottage is amazing well worth the visit, we will definitely return Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo"

- "Perfect" - "Very well maintained cottage in delightful surroundings. We were made very welcome by Edrid and Jane who supplied loads of useful local information. Loved the regular visits from Since the friendly cat. Was lovely to sit and drink in the view from the living room window. And of course the private hot tub by the stream to admire the miriad of stars after dark. A big thank you for a lovely relaxing week." - "A lovely situation, nestling alongside a stream. A nice enclosed lawn if the weather is fine, complete with sun house. There is also a large awning on the patio, so we sat outside even when it was raining. Inside is comfortable with a dining table in the window. The upstairs bedroom with double bed has a large velux window. The downstairs bedroom with twin beds is rather on the dark side. Lovely hilly countryside round about - there are several walks from the house and others just a short ride away. If you put £2 in the turnstile you can see the falls at Devil's Bridge before the crowds arrive. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo"

Please note: This property is situated on a farm environment - care should be taken at all times, especially with young children.. Tyllwyd, so named after the grey stone used to build this Victorian, detached farmhouse, is wonderfully situated within 80-acres of farmland, which takes full advantage of the glorious hillside views of the Rheidol Valley or “Cwm Rheidol”. The farm now only grazes cattle and sheep, along with hay and silage crops taken from the fields throughout the summer. There is record of a Tyllwyd at this location dating back to 1716 and it may have been part of the Abertrinant Estate at this time. Most of the estate was sold in 1830 and the census from 1841 and 1851 show farmers with their families living at Tyllwyd along with their servants. A later census records lead miners and farm labourer’s residing at Tyllwyd. Only one other building survives from this period and this was the milking parlour, until 2003. The extent of the farm and the house today were probably established in the late 19th Century and was built with servants’ quarters that are now the bathroom and utility room. Servants continued to be employed at the farm and maybe as late as the 1940s. A dairy herd was established with 70 cows and the milking parlour was installed in one of the old 19th-century buildings. Potatoes were also grown and supplied the local chip shops in Aberystwyth. Dairy farming continued at the farm up until 2003.
The house has now been carefully and lovingly restored by the present owners, retaining period features, including original flagstone flooring, that gives the house its character. The spacious country kitchen, with a traditional clothes airing pulley, features a large range cooker with three ovens. The kitchen is open plan with the comfortable dining area so it’s the perfect place for a sociable gathering with friends or family. The living room boasts a cosy wood burner and there’s an adjoining games room to enjoy with table football and darts. On the first floor there are four light and airy attractive bedrooms, two with double aspect windows. The master bedroom features an en-suite shower room and walk-in dressing room. Outside, the large garden is great for children to enjoy and adults to appreciate sitting out with a glass of wine around the fire pit on colder evenings.
Capel Bangor has a pub which serves quality food using local produce, fine wines and real ales.
The Vale of Rheidol narrow gauge steam locomotive is the finest way to explore the stunning Rheidol Valley. Opened in 1902, the railway has been delighting passengers young and old for over a century and the train which begins in Aberystwyth calls at Capel Bangor station on its way to Devil’s Bridge where you can alight to visit the unique waterfalls that have attracted many thousands of visitors since the 18th Century, including William Wordsworth who wrote about the "Torrent at the Devil’s Bridge". Today, the Falls Nature Trail provides a unique opportunity to see this great natural feature in the Rheidol Gorge. Birds of prey such as red kite and buzzards are regularly seen soaring high above the valley floor and breathtaking views can be enjoyed by all.
Stay at lovely Tyllwyd Farmhouse and enjoy this distinctive Welsh region with a thriving cultural identity. It’s perfect for a weekend break or a longer stay with award-winning beaches, sandy coves, sea cliffs, caves and wonderful wildlife, spectacular sunsets and starry dark skies. Horse riding is available just 1½ miles away. Fishing is available nearby, a licence is required and permits are available through Aberystwyth Angling Association. There is also sea fishing in Aberystwyth. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.
Please be aware this property is situated on a farm environment, during certain times of the year there will be farm machinery entering/leaving the yard, care should be taken at all times, especially with young children.
- "Beautifully restored rustic charming house. Felt at home from stepping through the door." - "We arrived to a lovely warm farmhouse and a local produce welcome pack for us. Even the dog had little treats, a bed and bowls which was really thoughtful. The rooms were all generously sized with lofty ceilings and furnished tastefully. Beds were comfy, bathrooms were modern, the games room was a treat for the kids and the walks round the farm and up onto the hill gave us some great views. We will definitely be back in the summer. The space
Cwtch Cottage has its own separate, secure, and private entrance, as an attached but independent cottage next door to our own house. That means that we are on hand if you need help, but will leave you totally in peace otherwise!
Totally self-contained and set in 7 acres of fields including a one-acre natural spring-fed lake and an additional pond teeming with wildlife, depending on the time of year, you will see red kites and buzzards overhead, several species of ducks, greylags, and Canada geese, and our regular visitors, the heron, and the occasional cormorant. There is such low light pollution that you will almost certainly be treated to a stunning night sky, bright stars, and breathtaking views of the Milky Way.
Cwtch Cottage has its own all-year spa hot tub for exclusive use by cottage guests. It is screened off to ensure your privacy while at the same time allowing you to enjoy stunning views of the lake to the front, the hills and mountains to the side views over extensive country to the rear, and the Milky Way and stars at night.
There is also a picnic table at the front of the cottage with views over the lake and a bench to the side.
You are welcome to take a walk around the property, try your hand at fishing as our guests, or just enjoy some undisturbed peace and quiet to help you recharge.
The cottage is tastefully decorated and has broadband, a 42" TV with Freeview, a Blu-ray DVD player with DVDs, and a selection of books and magazines for you to enjoy.
Cwtch Cottage also benefits from Starlink high speed satellite broadband.
The kitchen is also very well equipped with a gas hob/grill/oven, microwave, and dishwasher and has both a small fridge and a large fridge/freezer. There is ample cutlery, crockery, glassware, pots, pans, and utensils.
A welcome tea tray consisting of Earl Grey and English breakfast teas, green tea and peppermint tea, coffee, and hot chocolate together with a choice of biscuits will be ready waiting for you when you arrive.
If you need to do some washing, the washer/drier makes life easier and there is an ironing board and decent iron.
There is a shower room with a shower, WC, and washbasin. Please note this is downstairs.
Guest access
The cottage is easy to access from the main road and has its own front door, garden area, and parking alongside. It overlooks the lake at the front which you are welcome to enjoy.
Outside, you have your own picnic table and area to the front of the cottage which provides the ideal spot to enjoy nature close up with a glass of something convivial to hand!
There is also a seat that benefits from the sun to the side of the cottage with spectacular views.
We can also offer storage undercover for bikes to keep them dry or to dry wet fishing tackle or equestrian gear. We have stables on site which are available for hire at extra cost. Please ask for more details.
Charging points for electric vehicles are also available at an additional cost. Please ask for more information.
Other things to note
Please note the lake goes down to 9 feet in places so please stay away from the edges. It is a springwater lake with fish in it. If you are an experienced cold-water swimmer, you can swim in it at your own risk.
Similarly, the hot tub has a cover that attaches firmly when it is not in use. Again, please act responsibly around it.
Please note the fencing around the hot tub is made using natural materials ie willow which means that there may be a few sharp edges. Please take care while walking by it to ensure that you don't get scratched.
We also sometimes have ponies and sheep securely fenced in the fields on our land. They are usually all well mannered, but are animals and so need to be treated with respect. Again, health and safety rests with visitors.
