Location, Location, Location! Eaglehawk Neck is the gateway to the Tasman Pensinsula, and this cottage is the perfect base to explore Port Arthur and Tasman National Park.
When we purchased this property in February 2020, the real estate described it as being "cute as a button"! For dinner try and book an evening meal and movie at the Paragon Cinema. They just reopened - they run old movies at the same time; for example this week they are running Designing Women with Gregory Peck. You can see what it looks like on their Facebook page.

We also like Smelters Restaurant, which is set in a classic piece of 1960's architecture.

The Empire Hotel is very historic and serves traditional pub food.

Beauty Point Cottage is simple and homely accommodation situated in Beauty Point along the Tamar River. An easy five minute walk to the river, the cottage is the perfect setting for a relaxing weekend or longer stay.

At the rear of the property is the newly renovated Bunkhouse. The Bunkhouse is a modern family retreat that sleeps up to 6 people in bunk beds (2 bedrooms). Pricing for the Bunkhouse is the same as for Cottage per night.

The space
The Cottage can sleep six guests maximum. The master bedroom has a queen bed and walk in robe. The second bedroom has bunks beds. The main living area has a sofa that can fold out to a double bed. The Cottage has a shower, nespresso coffee machine, TV, wi-fi, books, puzzles and board games. A well set out kitchen allows guests to do as much or as little cooking as they like. Highchair, portacot and change mat can be arranged for families travelling with infants. The yard is fully enclosed and there is ample parking space.

The Bunkhouse can be booked in addition to the Cottage (but not without booking the Cottage) and sleeps an additional 6-8 people. The first room has one bunkbed and sleeps 2 people, the second room has two bunk beds and sleeps 4. A sofa bed in the open living area can sleep an extra 2 people. We save rain water and the toilet is split system composting. There is nothing that you need to do with it - it works like an airplane toilet with a pedal and less water than a normal toilet. If operated correctly there is no smell.

Dino has a large vegetable garden under development. Currently he is growing tomatoes, eggplant, garlic, rhubarb, kale, silverbeet, zucchini. In addition he grows a range of heritage peaches, nectarines, pluots, apricots, cherries, nashi pears, persimmons, figs, loquots, etc. We have recently completed a large 18m x 6 metre berry cage.

We welcome small pets but we do not have a fully fenced yard. Guests are welcome to leave their pets in the tiled laundry when they are out touring.

The 2 car driveway, front and rear gardens are a shared space with the next door townhouse

The accommodation is part of a working market garden mainly growing vegetables, fruit and flowers. As expected, this can sometimes attract small field mice, spiders and ants who also like to share in our growing bounty of produce. We have a rigorous pest control regime but cannot guarantee guests that we are 100% pest free.

Wylah is situated in 55 acres of bushland. There is a beautiful, woodland walk to the top of the property, where views of Quamby Bluff and Ben Lomond can be enjoyed. Wildlife that can be seen include: Tasmanian Devils, Quolls, Wombats, Wallabies, Grey Kangaroos, Potooroos, Banadicoots, Pademelons, echidnas, and masses of birdlife.

Other things to note
Platypus are frequently seen in the Meander River which runs through Deloraine, spot them at dawn and dusk. Tassie Devils, Quolls and other rare species of Tassie wildlife can be viewed on the property.
